Our family adores this restaurant. We used just go for special occasions like Easter or Thanksgiving. ( delicious holiday meals) however the restaurant has become a weekly favorite for us. My father loves the teriyaki chicken, my mom loves their lobster rolls and I enjoy clam chowder and clam cakes. We usually get our meals to go because mom is in a nursing home but you can have a lovely sit down meal. You can choose to sit in the bar and watch sports or you can pick a quiet table up front. This place is really popular here so don't be surprised if you have to drive around to find a parking spot but they have plenty of parking in the back. Their staff is super friendly, the food is delicious there plenty to choose from. I don't think you could ask for more. read more

Like many people in Westerly, I was hoping that when the ownership of the Haversham changed, for the most part, everything would remain similar. I have been twice since the new owners took over and both times were extremely disappointed. The first time I called and made a reservation for 15 people. They were happy to take my reservation but failed to tell me that we would be sitting at three separate tables. I have been to a restaurant with round tables before and they managed to push them together so that you felt like you were all part of one party but they did not attempt to do this. At least I feel like they should have told me that when I made the reservation that we would have to be at three separate tables and they did not do that. We ended up being five people at each table and when the food came out one person at every table did not get their meal. At my particular table, the waitress, who was very nice and apologized, forgot to put in one of the orders. Everyone else on the table was completely finished before that last person got their meal. The waitress did apologize which we appreciated. One person in the party of 15 was having a birthday so I asked the waitress if we could have a piece of birthday cake. She did bring out a piece of chocolate cake, which was delicious. When the bills were handed out, I was shocked to see that the sandwich, which never arrived until everyone else was done, was on the bill. I totally feel that this meal should have been taken off the bill, and after bringing 15 people in on a weekday I thought at the very least, a piece of cake for someone's birthday would have been given at no charge, but it was not. My second visit to the Haversham was this past Saturday night. I had tried it for lunch, but I was willing to give it a second try for dinner. There of us and everyone in our party had sandwiches or salad salads. One person chicken fingers. The chicken fingers came out ice cold, and one of the hamburgers that was ordered medium well, came out practically raw. Both items were sent back to the kitchen. The manager, Dan came over to apologize and said that he would get these orders corrected quickly. Once again, the other four at our were completely finished eating before the other two meals were brought back out. And unbelievably, the chicken tenders were still cold and the hamburger was still very rare. The Haversham was always a go to place for myself with my friends and my family. We had made many, many happy memories, celebrating birthdays and other special occasions there. Unfortunately, I can't see myself returning there anytime soon. read more

We are long time customers and worried it wouldn't be as good when it changed hands. Have only heard bad things since the re/opening. But this is our second visit in about 2 weeks and both times the food and service were excellent. When we had an issue with the order the staff and manager apologized and adjusted the bill . We expected so much more since John Bellone bought the Haversham as we always enjoyed the Maria's and we always enjoyed the Haversham in the past. Unfortunately, the food took forever and when it finally arrived it wasn't as the menus stated. The manager came over and his attitude was incredibly bad. He said that the food only took 17 minutes to come out from the time it was ordered I revealed to him exactly when we ordered it and when it arrived. I was really upset with the fact he continued to argue until he finally lamented. We asked to have our food boxed took it home and basically tossed it. I paid the bill in full and tipped the waitress, who was on her second day, as I always do 20%. Horrible experience. Waited for menus for over 5 minutes after being told to go seat ourselves. Service was really off and it was really slow! There was maybe one piece of chicken in my entire buffalo chicken wrap. It was stuffed with cheese and lettuce and hardly any chicken. We went last night. Two of us had burgers that we could not eat because there was so much salt on the burgers. The French fries were cold. My husband had a pepperoni pizza that was like cardboard, absolutely no flavor. The only half way decent meal was the steak tips; however the broccoli was cold and rubbery. We were so disappointed. Terrible experience. Despite calling ahead we were told we had a bit of a wait, which was totally fine until another party came in and was seated ahead of us. We were told they got seated before us because they were related to the owner... not cool. My dad mentioned it was his birthday to a waitress he and my mom often have and she told him that it was "nothing special and everyone has a birthday" Was told they only had one high chair when we needed two. A neighboring table pointed out a high chair just sitting in the corner behind them so we grabbed it to use on our own. Food was just okay but we were starving after a 45 minute wait. My parents went here quite often prior to this but after being treated so terribly and having a waitress tell my dad that his birthday wasn't special, I highly doubt any of us will ever go back. read more

Sadly we will not return to the Haversham. We have been dedicated customers of this restaurant But we will no longer be. Today I made a call ahead reservation and was promised the bar area for 9 people. Upon arrival there was a makeshift table by the hostess area nowhere near the bar or even dining room. Upon my objection I was given a lame excuse that it was raining out so they couldn't accommodate. I explained that I called ahead and was promised the bar area. We would not have made the drive or the effort to go knowing that this was gonna be how we treated. Live locally and have been a few times for drinks and sometimes food. As the 3.5 rating would suggest nothing to get excited about. The atmosphere and decor are great. The service is generally good. The food mediocre at best, we always joke stick to the basics. Went tonight with my wife and daughter service from Robin was excellent, that's about the only positive of our visit. Ordered a beef barley soup special, soup came missing two things flavor and barley, there was not a single piece of barley in the bowl. Sent it back for a credit. Next for dinner ordered a buffalo chicken wrap a burger and a steak sandwich. For sides we asked for onion rings, and two tots. The burger was good cooked properly, the buffalo chicken came out cold inside and out with chunks of unmelted cheese inside. The steak sandwich inside was great but seriously the roll ( if you want to call it a roll) was a joke of crap off the supermarket shelf that fell apart, my wife ended up just leaving the roll and eating the inside. The tots were so salty and the rings undercooked we gave up on them part way through. Our server came at the end and we explained our frustration she took our plates which were varying degrees of not finished to the manager. A few minutes later she returned and said the manager based on seeing our plates agreed with most of the feedback and as such would comp two glasses of wine. Really leave it to a server to deal with this? What a joke, my job requires me to travel 40 weeks a year, I eat out four days a week and generally don't complain, even though I explained this to the server and she to her manager they couldn't be bothered to come out to apologize or offer to remove some of the items. Front of house staff was overwhelmed and overwhelming. There was quite a wait despite making a reservation, which we were told is just a "preference" but not actually reserving a table. It was a 20 minute wait beyond our reservation time, and we ended sitting in the bar. Our server was very pleasant and prompt but the food took forever. What happened to this place? Our past experiences dining at Haversham's have typically been very positive - good service, good food, good ambiance, clean facilities. This evening, however, our dining experience was severely lacking - the service was lackadaisical, the food was over-priced, over-done, lacking in flavor and quantity! The French onion soup, which in the past has been outstanding, tasted like a water-downed version. The "world famous" ribs were prepared leaving on the back membrane, not very tender. The bacon burger had 1 slice of bacon, and though the burger was ordered medium rare, was served half medium rare and half well-done. The sides that came with the entrees were rather skimpy. Additionally, the men's room had a urinal that was disgustingly bad as the flushing lever wasn't working! Something not expected in a place like this! Appears that management has lost interest in providing a great experience for all its customers and is relying on the summer tourist trade to keep it in business! read more

OVERALL FABULOUS. Exterior & interior are beautiful with a sprawling garden terraced patio areas. Inside the Tavern is beautiful with high ceilings & lots of natural lights. Center square bar with plenty of high top seating around it. Large dining areas. Great lighting. Fantastic music at a medium level so it doesn't inhibit conversation. The staff were friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, attentive & efficient. Craft cocktails & excellent beer & wine selection. The menu was varied & all the food was delicious. Went there on a nice Monday afternoon because we knew they had a pretty patio and gazebo. When we saw the hostess and asked to sit outside she put us in this ugly tent next to the building with no atmosphere and uncomfortable seats. We asked if we could sit on the patio - a few feet away!- and she said no they weren't serving out there! The food was just ok. I had the pecan chicken salad with no flavor to the cold chicken , and the 3 other meals were nothing special. No bread served with the meals. NO hot tea! And no cream for the coffee -only had milk. When the coffee came it was lukewarm bottom of the pot. She did make us fresh after we told her but still was lousy without cream. Oh well- we won't rush back there anytime soon. read more

Nice established business that spends time keeping the place in tip top shape. Very impressed with the appearance of the place. My family sat on the outside patio which was beautiful. My grandmother jokingly said someone needs to get the couple weeds between the brick but that's the gardener in her. Reservation was for six which is a nice time after spending all day on the beach. Today was a bit breezy so shorts and a sweatshirt was perfect. The family ordered clam chowder and the overall consensus was it was above average. Thicker than most and tasty. As for me I just was not up for seafood so I went with a cheese pizza with pesto sauce. Wasn't aware it was a red tomato based pesto and not basil so was bummed about that. Thin crust which was nicely cooked, would have like to see a bit more cheese to compliment it. The adults got hot lobster rolls which were slightly bigger than a hotdog roll. They enjoyed them. My cousins got a steak which was perfectly cooked rare as requested and linguine with shrimp which was filling! The service was excellent. Happy to cater to your needs. Cleaned off the dirty dish ware in a timely matter. Everyone was wearing masks, which is understandable but I would have been ok if they didn't, I'm over it. Only negative was the amount of flies around the table. Eating outside I would expect it but there was a good six or so just buzzing around the entire time. read more

We arrived at 5:15pm and as expected were told that it would be a 35-45 minute wait. We were fine with this on a busy Friday. My wife checked a couple of times on the status and with 20 minutes still on the estimated initial 45 minute clock, we were told there were 7 parties ahead of us. After 45 minutes, I politely went to check on the status and was told 1) that 6 parties were ahead of us, and 2) that the Haversham's policy is that call-ins get slotted in ahead of walk-ins. I felt bad for the staff that had to communicate this terrible policy. Not knowing if we'd be seated in 30, 60, or 90 additional minutes, we decided to leave, and I shared my disappointment. As a local resident, this is an easy way to turn off what normally would be regular customers. Shame on management. read more

We ended up eating here because my friend and I are terrible planners and this was the only place that had a reservation available within a few hours on a Friday night. At the time, the average yelp rating was 3.5 stars so I wasn't expecting anything amazing, HOWEVER, that was not the case! There was plenty of parking and was relatively easy to find (with gps). The outside dining was so pretty and would be the perfect place for a nice date, even a wedding ! We got the outrageous nachos with chicken, and they were HUGE and delicious. We also split the lobster Mac n cheese and it was sooo good. There were huge chunks of delicious lobster and worth the pricey tag. Our waitress was a cute blonde lady with a cheetah print bandana and was super sweet and helpful! She checked on us throughout our meal and provided superb service. Even though she had a mask on, she was still smiley and pleasant. Hopefully next year when we come back, masks will be a joke of the past (like everything else that happened in 2020) so we can actually feel human emotion and connectivity again. Came here for lunch. When we came in. Everything was going great. We were seated right away. Then our waiter came and took our orders. So, we got there at 12:30 something. First we gave our appetizer order. Shortly after we finally decided and ordered our main meal. And at this time our appetizer finally came out. This is 20 minutes after we had ordered the apps. That was fine. We weren't complaining. But when we finally made our meal order. It took them an hour to finally serve us. We watched table after table ordering and then getting their food. I kept asking my table if they forgot about us. Ok, so in between all this. We were seated near the kitchen doors. So we can see them cook, who is going in and out of the kitchen. We noticed that one person in particular was sweat profusely and kept rubbing his nose. Didn't see him wash or anything. But, you can only imagine. Finally our food has arrived. Sorry I don't have pictures. I was going to refrain from posting anything at all. But, I couldn't keep my mouth shut about this. So back to the food. I got a cold lobster salad. It was cold alright. They did add a good amount of lobster. But, where was the mayo and lettuce. They served me a lobster roll that was just bread and lobster. Like seriously. My friend had ordered the fried fish sandwich. It was over cooked. Not golden brown but, really dark brown. Not only that he said that there wasn't any fish really. It was all over cooked batter. So when our waiter came. We decide to tell her about the guy in the button up shirt. And what we observed. This guy comes out all defensive. Saying I heard you talking about me to my waitress. Seriously! This guys was still sweating bad. His hair was all wet at the front of his forehead and you could see the sweat beads on him. He definitely was back there sniffing something. So we tell him what we observed and about the food. And he was like I took your military discount off for you. That is t what we were talking about. Then he goes to tell us that he was not doing any of those things we were accusing him of. Which pretty much he was talking about touching his nose. Then he wanted to say is there anything else you want to complain about. Seriously, that is not how you being a manager talks to the customer. Or how you handle things with a customer getting all defensive. First of all if you didn't do any of the things we seen. You wouldn't get defensive. You'd apologize even if in your head you didn't do it. All, you had to do was say sorry. I'm understand your not happy with the service or what ever it is. You just made yourself loon guilty. Also, you didn't even touch on the food we had complained about. Oh! As for my lobster roll. I had to ask for a side of mayo and mix my lobster in it myself. I could of done that at home. Lol. I was not impressed with this place. I was in the beginning. But nope. I will not return. I don't understand the hostility that was shown to a paying customer. When we didn't make a scene. We just simply wanted the waitress to be aware to let the manager know that we weren't happy with the way the food came out and also to have the manager fix his hygiene issues. read more
