As we just moved down to southern California and I hadn't been into see an audiologist for quite some time, I knew I should start to explore options in relation to my hearing. Of course, I kept putting it off, dealing with my current hearing aids and telling myself I'd get to it eventually. Well, that was until my hearing aids were broken while playing with our dog. From there, I knew I had to find someone to check my hearing, review my current hearing aids, and see what options were now available as far as technology is concerned as I hadn't had my hearing aids replaced in quite sometime. In doing a search around Yelp, I came across Walter and Suzanne's place, The Hearing Experience, and considered it as it was close to the office, the reviews were great, etc. My next worry was with COVID-19 and how it would be handled when I went into an enclosed space, especially with my high-risk issues. I couldn't have been more happy with my experience. My appointment was scheduled and after a quick phone call, I was greeted by Suzanne who escorted me to their office, while masked and offering hand sanitizer and wipes at will. And Walter was the same. I did have to work through some issues with my hearing as I typically read lips, and the mask prevented that, but they were completely onboard making me comfortable with what I would allow as far as masks, hearing, etc. My test went very well, and Walter was able to show what was going on with my hearing, and offer suggestions on hearing aids, after finding out what my daily situations were. I knew going in that I would have to spend some funds as I knew hearing aids were expensive, but I couldn't have imagined exactly what I would get for the price I paid. Yes, they were pricey, but to have basically my own set of rechargeable hearing aids (yay no more batteries!) that met all of my goals with hearing my family/friends, gaming, conference calls, etc. was incredible. I pretty much never notice they are there, and only have to change programs around to suit my situation. There's nothing bad I can honestly say about these hearing aids, or my experience with The Hearing Experience. Walter and Suzanne are excellent and I look forward to working with them in the future. I met Walter at the Del Mar home show in January of all places, and as we walked past, I told my husband I had to stop, as I knew I'd been needing a hearing aid for about 5 years. I'm 44 and held off because of the stigma I had about being to young and not wanting an item that was "visible". At the show, Walter was wearing a pair of aids, and he pulled them out to show me. They were tiny. We talked for a few minutes and he immediately felt like a friend I'd known for years. I made an appointment that Saturday for Monday at 5 pm. (He stayed late to accommodate both mine and my husbands work schedule) Walter tested my hearing, (The test took under 15 minutes I believe and was very thorough) yes found the same results my prior 3 tests (from 2 different places) showed. He went to his back room, pulled out a set of Siemens hearing aids with these ultra thin ear cups and wires, and WOW, I could hear things I had not heard in years. (The sound of my own voice, the water fall in the waiting room, etc.) I asked the price, and asked if he had something less expensive. Again, he pulled another set out and let me try them. At no time was there any pressure to buy a particular set, he simply wanted me to have what I was most comfortable with. I picked a pair, and talked with Suzanne about seeing if my insurance would possibly pay for any of the expense. (No my insurance did not, but she called them and checked for me, which was awesome). I've had my aids now for almost 2 weeks and am very happy. Walter rechecked my fit today, and found the ear cups were the wrong size and quickly made the adjustment and told me to come back at any time if I have any issues. I have been working with Walter and Suzanne Kelly for six years now. I had previously visited other hearing aid professionals and after the hearing test was I told hearing aids would not help my particular hearing loss. Not Walter, he told me it would be difficult but not impossible to correct my hearing. I am so delighted with my new hearing aids. Walter and his staff were so gracious and caring as I went through the process of getting them adjusted to my world. I stopped in to see Walter about once a week for five weeks and each week he tweaked the hearing aids to fit my lifestyle. The adjustments between noisy environments, such as my granddaughter's volleyball tournaments, to quieter settings such as a restaurant were all preprogrammed into my hearing aids. For some reason I noticed a louder than normal ringing in my ears. Of course, my first thought was to get my hearing tested at Costco. Unfortunately, they were booking appointments 6 weeks out. And Walter surprised me by reprogramming my hearing aid and explaining how the Signia Primax hearing Aid worked in less than one hour.
