Awesome views. The food is pretty average. Fun spot for a casual lunch or dinner. Prices are a tad steep.

While staying at the Renaissance Marriott we decided to check out this place instead of having to leave out of the hotel. I was totally not expecting it to be so packed considering it is inside a hotel and because of COVID. We arrived around 7pm and the hostess said it was an about an hour and a half wait and they couldn't promise that we would make the 9pm last call. We decided to go ahead and put our names on the list because I was really hungry and did not want to have to go outside. Luckily it only took about 40 minutes for a table to become available. Our waitress was really nice and prompt, we ordered some drinks first then our food. We had the wings minus the blueberry bbq sauce yuck! We also ordered the chicken wrap that came with fries and we got a pizza. Everything was good except the wings they were basically burnt and had no flavor. As the evening went on the line to come in got longer and longer, I guess this a really popular spot in the area. Overall, after 2 visits, I'm very impressed. ATMOSPHERE: The atmosphere, which would include the views of the city, is outstanding. I can't think of any other place in town that affords this kind of view. Tower on the Maumee take note; open up a roof top bar. Overall, very modern and even a little "clubby." It's clubby, but not douchey, at least not the times I've been there. SERVICE: Personally, I didn't have any issues with service. It was accurate and friendly. It MAY have been a little slow, but that just gave me and the wife more time to relish the view, and people watch. I AM pretty sure the waitresses and barmaids treat male customers better than they treat the ladies, in hopes of earning bigger tits. TIPS, that is! TIPS! Bigger TIPS. DRINKS: The specialty cocktails are well crafted and delicious, albeit expensive. Personal favorite? The Portside Debacle. I'll say this...any local joint that utilizes the top-shelf products from Toledo Spirits gets a bonus of 0.6666666 stars, in my opinion. The other 0.333334 stars come from the fact that 10 out of 12 beers an were brewed in either Ohio or Michigan. FOOD: The food options are primarily wood fired pizza, and tapas, AKA, "small plates." These small plates are equivalent to the appetizers at some of the better restaurants around town. The empanadas, along with their toppings were especially delicious...both savory and spicy. My wife had the pork belly tacos...she loved them, I thought they were somewhat above average. I do wish you got a little more food for the money, however. Unfortunately, this isn't the kind of place that you can enjoy with your kids, unless they're over 21. I guess the fact that this place isn't crawling with rug rats isn't entirely bad. If The Heights is representative of the kind of places we can expect to see as a result of downtown's rebirth then I'd say this town has a bright future. BTW, I believe that, this time, Downtown Toledo's renaissance is the real thing. 4 stars for now. Work out a few kinks and we'll bump it up to 5. Maybe. read more

I'm ready to review. Debated between 2-3 stars. Closer to 3 but I'm sorry you have to provide more consistent service. Everytime I have sat at the bar and the way I got ignored was laughable. This last time was too silly. No one was behind the bar besides a manager type guy. He tries to help me. Tells me I got the last of the sauvignon blanc. No problem. Hand him my card for tab. Now every other visit they have swiped my card n gave it back. He kept it for some reason. Now I waited a good 5 minutes for return before going out to the patio. And yes I told him I was going out. So maybe 20 minutes later I come back in and watch the bartenders swiping and return cards so I figure I better ask for it back. After a hunt they track it down. I asked why it wasn't returned when I opened the tab to shoulder shrugs. Bet. Ordered appetizer and asked for napkins and they handed me those napkins they put drinks on. When I asked why I didn't get the cloth napkins I see other customers with, bartender says those don't really clean your hands well. Whatever. You get the point. You don't give customers food with no silverware n napkins. Anyway, foods pretty good. Those pretzel bites are the bomb. Prices are a little high which is why I would expect better service. Mike P would approve of the wood fired pizza when they have it. Sometimes the oven isn't working for whatever reason. Beautiful view from 12th floor patio. So, upon a Facebook event "Tiki Tuesday" I'm not one to go downtown during the week, but my friend lives downtown so we tried The Heights. While I found multiple versions of the menu with different pricing for the same items the FB event made it sound like it would have a limited menu of "Tiki themed" entrees. I overlooked the mediocre reviews and the comments made about the restaurant running out of menu items...and I should have paid more attention. While the view and the cocktails were amazing...I originally ordered the bruschetta trio, a margherita pizza to share and my friend ordered the chicken caesar salad without chicken because she's a vegetarian. The server came back with a menu and apologies that they were all out of the bruschetta. (Now I was starting to remember the reviews.). The salad and the pizza came and the pizza while I will say was fresh, there was hardly any buffalo mozzarella on it, because some of the pieces didn't have any cheese or basil on it at all. We enjoyed the view and I treated my friend to dinner and drinks and didn't think anything of it when the bill came, but the pizza was $19 instead of the $13 I saw online and they charged me the whole $17 for the chicken caesar salad without chicken. (and I thought eggs were expensive). Needless to say I probably will not be back to The Heights for dinner but drinks and a view would have been reasonable for $30. If you are looking for food, fun and a killer views of the city of Toledo? Say no more. The heights deliver a sort of high-end feel without the high-end prices at the Renaissance Hotel. This Rooftop Bar features in open patio, tons of windows, and the menu to match! Upon entering the venue, you can see various TVs with local sports and mainstream games. The bar is in the middle of the space which can accommodate many people at once. The service was great and quick, but they have a lot of people to serve so choose what you want then go to the bar. I would say this is a good space for meetings, after wedding events, or a decent party. But those views, I can't believe I've never seen Toledo like from where I looked on the rooftop. It was very warm/humid today & there was no air on inside restaurant. My 1st time here & the menu online had more items to select only to find out only sliders and pizza. The waitress was unfriendly and slow, the food was not good ( chicken sliders, Korean wings and burger sliders).. had to tell the prep guy to sanitize his hands as we watched him touch his hair, dig in his nose and cough in his hand and then touch on everyone's plates! And what kind of place has no straws for water or soda??? Spent $100 for awful food and crappy service! Will never return! read more

I had brunch as takeout from the Heights. I wanted room service but that was not an option. Understandably so. I order the summer vegetable salad and a coffee. The salad was delicious. The coffee was not good at all. I was surprised because it cost more than a good cup of coffee. The server was nice. The social distancing measures they have are only good if people follow them. Should of known when we waited for 10 minutes to be greeted to find another restaurant but we didn't. Once we were seated it took the waitress another 10 minutes to ask what drinks we would like. We also placed our order. Loaded fries as appetizers, 2 cheeseburgers with a salad. These loaded fries sounded amazing! Both of our sodas we flat. Our burgers came out but no loaded fries. Half way though our dinner the waitress returns and we asked about them and she laughed and said I forgot. I'll put them in now. I said NO! She finally refills our drinks and said are you sure no charge. By this point we were done eating. Burger was dry with no favor. The salad was good. read more

I was expecting more when I came here. The service was very slow and the food was mediocre. I would say the one item that did not disappoint me was the view. The heights is a great place to come and take really nice pictures. They have an outside section where you can go and take pictures while you are waiting on your food. I did only go for brunch so maybe the dinner is better! I would go back to give it another shot. Another Item I didn't enjoy was the valet parking. I was told when I pulled up I needed valet parking just for them to move my car 10 feet then charge me $10 to do that. I thought that was a little ridiculous and not needed. read more

I use to come here all the time in 2016-2018 before I moved back to Cleveland. I came back here the other day and it was like I never left, minus the food improving!! The views are still breath taking the serving staff is still the friendly as is. We were well taken care of and we shared the trio dip and jerk chicken. Be careful that jerk chicken has a sly slick to it (which is what we liked) I can't wait to go back again and I always recommend this spot anytime people ask where to go in Toledo read more

This restaurant sits on the roof top of the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Toledo Ohio. The outside view was breathtaking where we sat. The food was hot when they brought it out. And definitely delicious. The service was polite and nice. Our server Brianna was so nice I felt like I knew her forever. The hamburger was so juicy my daughter was mad it was gone.The inside of the restaurant had a lot of different areas to sit with different views to enjoy. When you walk in you see the brick wood fire oven. You could feel the heat AWESOME!!! I had never had pizza from a wood fire brick oven and it was great. My wife and I made the drive for brunch on a local friend's recommendation and we were not disappointed. The food was great, the service was excellent and prompt, everybody is friendly and entertaining, and the view was terrific. Cute little rooftop atmosphere and a very comfortable space. Would absolutely recommend it to anyone. I am not sure how dinner is, but if it's anything like the brunch it would be top notch. Their COVID precautions were great. At one point my waitress Kyla (TOP MARKS!!!) brought me a glass and noticed a slight smudge on the glass and immediately ran back to replace it. She was excellent. read more

Ok - pluses - great view. Beautiful space. Food was good too when we were finally able to order and get it. Minuses - service was sooo slow and unorganized and took forever to get drinks- it was like they didn't want to take our order. When we arrived we were informed it was open seating so we could sit wherever we wanted. There was outdoor and indoor seating - since it was so nice we wanted to be outside - and luckily found 2 seats out there overlooking the river. That's where our luck turned - we could not find a server to save our lives . The bussers were great and easy to find but we couldn't order from them. I had to walk up to where servers were ringing in orders just to get a menu. Supposedly a server was going to come to us but it seriously took 30 min before hubby had to finally go to the bar to get our bottle of wine and even then the bartenders wouldn't even look at him to take his order. A couple finally left because they couldn't get served. It wasn't like the bartenders were busy they just wouldn't look at them so they could place the order. I really wanted to love the place because I want them to succeed for Toledo but they're really going to have to work on service. This place is THE new spot in Toledo. Located on the 12 floor rooftop of the Renaissance, this indoor outdoor venue is the place to be for a scenic view and an urban vibe. The drinks are on point; try their specialty slush of the day everyone we've tried has been delicious. Food is presented tapas style with plenty to share. We've tried several but the shishito peppers with the romanesco is amazing as are the duck wings with a squeeze of orange. We've been there at happy hour and late evening. The vibe is chill at night: all kinds and ages representing. I almost hate to share, but if you're into a modern urban rehab that manages to be warm and friendly, this IS the place. read more

The bar was not busy, still it took a while for us to get two cocktails that were on the menu. After walking around the zoo for the Lights Before Christmas on our last night in town, many friends and family suggested coming to The Heights to grab a drink and possibly dinner (and of course, to take in the view). The place was fairly quiet on the Wednesday night we went; it was the day after Christmas after all. We took a seat on some comfy chairs in the corner and were promptly greeted by our waitress. After looking over the cocktail menu, I settled on a drink called Strawberry Moon (kombucha with strawberry vodka and a few other ingredients) and my boyfriend tried something that had liquid smoke. We sipped our cocktails and chatted; after looking at the food menu, we weren't blown away by any of the choices and decided we would have our dinner elsewhere. But we each enjoyed two cocktails and the ambiance before calling it a night. I could see how in the summer or during the day, the view from The Heights must be stellar. At night, it really didn't do a whole lot, since most of downtown Toledo is dark or vacant. But the ambiance makes it a top-notch place to grab a drink when downtown. read more

The hostess was nice and I was seated immediately. The food at the table next to me looked and smelled good but unfortunately that's as close to food as I got. The waiter stopped at the table next to me and failed to make eye contact with me on multiple occasions. He would walk straight towards bar away from me on 3 separate occasions. My husband and I came today for our anniversary. We were greeted with complimentary glasses of champagne. After thanking our waiter KJ and letting him know that it was our anniversary, he surprised us a with a bourbon peach dessert pizza. It was delicious! He was seriously the best server we have ever had! I had the mixed green salad with chicken, and my husband had the angus burger. Both were very good. For drinks, I had the Blackberry Bliss and my husband had the martini. He would normally have had a beer, but the beer selection was not great during this time, and he is a beer snob. We were both impressed with how good and strong the drinks were. Definitely worth the price. As parents, we don't get the opportunity to go out much. New management has killed this place. The issues started immediately. 2 in my party received 1 menu and the other 2 an old one. The server wasn't sure which one was the new one. They no longer have the cauliflower bites which is why we came. We started with the Brussel Sprouts which were good but very tiny and a small amount. Then we ordered the specialty pizza and the vegan pizza. The crust was burnt and the vegan was about half the size of the other. I ordered a romaine salad which the menu doesn't mention coming with cheese. Not only was it served to me with cheese but goat cheese. To top it off the restroom was dirty. I used to love this place.
