This is a really cool place and the drinks are good. The sad part is that I have had terrible service when we have come. I would not come back for a while and then give them another chance. The staff is not friendly. Asking for A1 sauce for the steak, is impossible because they don't carry it. Asking for napkins, you get an eye roll. The restaurant is more than half empty and you can't get seated. You have to wait outside for your table when the bar and bar top tables have 4 people seated. Ask to sit at the empty table by the door while we wait for a table that is already empty, you get a rude remark like, we have reservations and that table is taken. Not sure how. Table is taken when 7 tables are open just in the bar and that is not counting the back restaurant. I am not coming back until maybe they get more polite professional hostess staff and maybe management rethinks the concept of customer service. read more

Mandy was a very accommodating and attentive server. I had the blue berry lemon drop martini, which not the prettiest of drinks but it does taste good. Both my husband and I had the french onion soup which was pretty much standard tasting. My Chinese chicken salad was good. His Chicken sandwich was just as good. They did put sound absorbers in the ceiling but it just doesn't help with that big gaping hole between the bar and dining area. The plants are not of any use either. They should go back to the original plan of the plexy glass to separate the 2 rooms. If you are looking for a nice peaceful dinner, this is definitely not the place. read more

Used to love going to the heights tonite they lost a customer yes it was crowded but really does it take 35 minutes to get a salad and when the people total of 6 and we are just two order 15 minutes after we did and they got their hamburgers and steaks and still no salad wow not going back Really don't even deserve the one star read more

We ordered take out and when I went to pick up the food I was very impressed at how the outdoor seating was set up. The service was great. The food was packaged well so as not to get soggy and cold. The separate wrapping allowed for warming of the items that should be warm, if needed. Our dinner was delicious. We will definitely be back. read more

There are few restaurants I can trust to ensure no cross-contamination of gluten, and the Heights is one I can definitely trust! Even if my food touches gluten, it will leave me with pain and nausea for days as well as weight loss (and I'm already borderline underweight). But I had no problems after eating The Heights Cobb salad! Plus, the waiters and waitresses are friendly and don't wear m@sks which makes me feel welcomed and like everything is returning to normal. Servers and bartenders are always on point and very attentive, with drinks that make you feel good about paying good money for them. Always great! I love the Moscow Mules, personally. This place is always busy when I go, which is usually a good sign. I have had several dishes and everything is always fresh. The servers have all been friendly and quick. I came here for a business meeting for work last December and they have great food. The room, as previously discussed, has some noise issues. Originally the place was too loud due to open space and bad ceiling design. Well they fixed half of the issue with a better ceiling design, however it still suffers from noise pollution. Our company sat in a private room in the back (for meetings, occasions, etc) and we could clearly hear other conversations in the other room despite doors in between us (well, maybe not doors, per say, more like those sliding things) Onto the food! I had the burboun steak with roasted red skinned potatoes and a split pea soup for my appetizer. Great steak (a little on the sweet side for me however) and the grilled onions soaked in burboun were amazing. The soup was equally good. They also served some sourdough rolls with the meal and they were so-so. Overall I would come here again. They have a full wine bar up front which is pretty legit and the ambiance is alright in my book. Protip: This place is TINY--you wouldn't recognize it as a restaurant if you weren't looking so keep an eye out. read more

This unassuming little pub style restaurant tucked in the corner of a over sized Strip Mall is a pleasant surprise. The bar is a typical bar and the drinks are great. Service is above average and the employees are extremely friendly. I've never eaten here however the food looks far better than most pub dining. The Heights has an amazing build out that needs to be paired with great food and drinks. With years in the kitchen and also managing restaurants, I tend to start analyzing a restaurant the second I walk in. I was impressed and then it turned into a slippery slope. The food, simply fell short. If I am not mistaken, they are using a fairly nice quality patty for their burgers but yet do not have CLUE what to do with it. The patties are "Handformed" aka a great way to make the burger tougher. If you are going to be selling your burgers for 9.50 and up, they need to be seasoned. The management/owner needs to take a step back and go back to the basics with seasoning. Seasoning a burger is the basic step to get the best tasting patty you can. It is something that all of the cooks should know an do without a thought inside of a upscale restaurant. I was amazed at the fact a patty of that quantity (1/2 pound) could be flavorless. It sucked. Not just one burger, but the three that hit the table. The waitress even informed us that the fries do not come with salt at all. Wait....What?! That is an industry standard to lightly season your fries. Maybe the local client doesn't like salted fries? I doubt that when the Habit burger serves some of the saltiest fries around but yet they're making over 2 million a year. And please someone start making your own fries! The frozen fries are horrible! All of the fries were oily, too low of fryer temp. Thanks but no thank. read more

Stopped in while I was about and about for work. We had a party of 11 and they sat us right away. An empty restaurant is usually a red flag to me, but I has pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is nothing fancy but it is nice and clean looking. Nothing too flashy. Same with the menu. I got the california chicken sandwich. It was excellent. You can get a salad as your side and it is a pretty decent sized salad. There were no complaints about any of the meals at the table. Prices were pretty average and the service was great. I wish this place was closer to home. I hope to return someday. read more

Came here with the BF last night for a late drink and a couple of appetizers. I love the atmosphere here. There was a good mix of people, both young and old. Most important is the type of people that were there. Very mellow crowd, just looking to have a good time with good company. The bar itself is classy, the waitstaff is very attentive. Just what this area needs. The food was mediocre (nicer version of bar food, if you will), we ordered the build your own nachos and the caprese salad. I didn't really care for the nachos, but the caprese salad was very good. We will be coming here again, that is for sure. read more

Wow! It's been years since I've been to this place but it's my mom's birthday and she chose to go here for dinner. Our server, Lauren was one of the best servers I've ever had. I have food allergies and she was very attentive and careful, making sure everything was done correctly. I ordered the ribeye steak, which I ordered medium rare. It was a huge steak and I thought it was more rare than medium rare but I did enjoy it. The veggies were perfectly cooked and the baked potato was perfectly cooked as well. I ate everything! "Out of avocado"...three words that can destroy your dining experience. If notified in advance, you at least have the opportunity to convince your appetite that an alternative meal that doesn't come with avocado is what you crave. However, when you aren't told anything until after you inquire about why the food in front of you doesn't have avocado in it, you are left with a void that can't be filled. My wife and I quickly ate our meals so that our stomachs wouldn't have time to realize that something was missing. We won't be back and that's a shame because this place had potential. read more

The BF and I came to enjoy a nice little dinner. We both really enjoyed it. The service was great and the prices were good too. We started with the pork chop appetizer. It was ok. The BF loved them but I'm not big on eating pork so I didn't care for them. He ordered the fish and chips and I ordered the tuscan chicken sandwich with a salad. The food was served pretty quickly and the portion sizes were good. The fish and chips were delicious and the tartar sauce served was different, different but good! The tuscan chicken was pretty tasty and was smothered in cheese :) the salad covered half of my plate and it was yummy as well. Def a good little local spot. Food was good, service was good and the prices were right. We will def be back to try other dishes that sounded sooooo good! read more

Once was a favorite local spot for me. Those days are over. This place has been on crazy covid protocol forever. Last time was reduced menu, not sure if that has changed. Special hours 11:30-8:00, Tues-Sat, guess that is covid's nap time. They want you to make reservations but not required. Must be a high probability you are negative with a res. You STILL can't sit at the bar, covid is using all the barstools. So no more dropping in for a drink. I always go here for a Xmas cocktail, and the wifey grabs a few bottles of naughty and nice for home (Xmas drink they make and sell to go). Figured it would be back to normal by now after a long hiatus. We elected to hit Kings Fish House instead, the creepy vibe was just too much. I just love this place, especially now that they have outdoor dining. The ambiance can't be beat. the food is always perfectly seasoned and tasty, and at the perfect temperature. I love the simple yet artful presentation of food on the plate, which is a treat for the eyes as well. Our server, Michael, was pleasant, made nice conversation about whisky with me and my husband, and checked on us a few times to make sure our food was satisfactory, and that we had everything that we needed for a pleasant dining experience. It has become my occasional go-to place on the days that I come home from the office and do not feel like fixing dinner. You will not regret dining at this establishment. My wife and I used to eat at The Heights at least twice a week. We loved it... close to home, decent food, great service for which we would tip generously. We had my daughter's graduation party in their private room. We were solid, good, regular customers, which apparently means nothing to the owner, Cliff. I am vegan, and although I don't expect a restaurant like The Heights to cater to someone with my dietary restrictions, I appreciated that they did have options on the menu for me to consider. For a while, anyway. They used to have a great veggie burger on the menu that I could enjoy. If that wasn't available, I could do soup and a baked potato. The veggie burger was unceremoniously removed from the menu, and not replaced with a viable option for plant based clientele like me. All their soups, even vegetable soups are now made with a chicken or beef stock or they throw ham in it. Nothing for vegetarians or vegans. We were close with the manager Michael who is great, and the wait staff is very well trained and try their best to accommodate. However, with many other options for plant-based diners popping up all over town, we have taken our business elsewhere. If you're a meat eater, I suppose this place is fine. I live close to The Heights and am disappointed that I can no longer find anything I like on the menu. The owner, Cliff is missing the boat here. Even though we are in the IE, the restaurant is located in an upscale area and the market trend these days is to provide healthier, plant-based options. Even Burger King and Del Taco are more accommodating than The Heights, now. Bummer. read more

First time eating here. My visit was with a large party seated in their private room. This review is solely about the food. I ordered the dill butter salmon with rice pilaf and a side salad. First, the side salad, it was chopped romaine, diced tomatoes and shredded mozzarella cheese. Nothing special. The dill butter salmon was delicious. The salmon was cooked well and although it was accompanied with the dill butter I did add some salt on the fish and rice. There was nothing that left me wanting to return. read more

My favorite place to eat and drink the restaurant and bar is located at The Colonies in Upland. Within the shopping center at Campus and 19th there are only a few nice sit down restaurants in upland and this one will not disappoint. When you first walk in, you notice the large flat screen TV's and a very nice bar. The hostess is welcoming and friendly as is the rest of the staff. The food is great and very generous portions. The menu has quite a few unique items that you wouldn't normally see at a restaurant/bar. With that being said, they do have the normal burgers, steaks, etc. They even have milkshakes! The food and drink was moderately priced similar to a claim jumper or elephant bar. overall, I liked the food and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. As restaurant/bars go this is definitely one of the better ones out there, with all they have to offer and a few blocks from my house makes it my first choice read more

Thought it was going to be loud from previous reviews, but it wasn't any louder than any other place - and it was full; in fact I thought it was al little quitter than most places , except for this one woman's laugh. Order the chicken quesadilla and tortilla soup, both excellent. Buddy had a western bacon burger and casear salad - no complaints. Prices were decent, wanted to get a slice of carrot cake, but thought $6.99 was a bit high for a slice of cake. Service was good, we could have checked back once the food was served, but they were busy and maybe under staffed. very friendly though.
