And also these cute tiny hot sauce bottles (which they gave extra after seeing us go bonkers about them). I got a Negroni that had citrus flavors and was delicious. There was also wings and beer for happy hour. I had to get the mussels and fries cos I was slightly buzzed. A 10/10 experience was had last night at SB. Our host, the waitress, and everyone that interacted with us was beyond wonderful. From the small plates sent out as a welcome to us from the chef, to the girl dinner special, to all the gluten free apps we order to cocktails and desserts (yes, a lot of food was enjoyed)---it all was wonderful. My best friend has a gluten allergy and she was quite literally blown away by all of the foods she loved before celiacs that they made Gf. She had truffle fries, arancini and meatballs----things she usually can't have at a restaurant. Talk about the joy on her face! The restaurant was still decorated for the holidays and the new year and somehow it was even more magical and beautiful than usual. What a great experience! First off, we visited Stoneacre Brasserie midday on the 4th of July. We now pause the review to let data nerds decide whether or not our visit was representative. Now back to the review. Although we arrived on a hot busy day, the staff was friendly and gracious and the service was quite good. The crowd ranged from ... well... the clientele had diverse expectations but the staff was generous and appeared to rather impressively code switch with ease. Crab sushi was quite good and the "Humus Flower" had the sweetest endive in memory. Extra credit to our friendly waitress who yet curated the disappearing art of keeping the customers iced tea glass full. Gracious friendly staff predicate a good dining experience. Our retreat group dined here in the private dining room on Saturday night. We received wonderful treatment and service, with drinks and dinner. The cocktails were lovely, and the food on the special menu was amazing. They brought out slices of bread with olive oil first. My Roasted Beet Salad was a tasty appetizer, and my chosen Butter Poached Lobster Mac N Cheese was really great. It was made with orzo (a fav) and wasn't overly cheesy. My husband and I had a lovely dinner here. We made a reservation for 6:00 on a Friday. The ambience was very classy and they decorated for the holidays. The service was exceptional. They constantly checked in on us and kept our drinks full. My husband got the steak frites and I got the beet and goat cheese salad. We also ordered the tuna flash from the specials. What an absolutely beautiful restaurant, with such amazing food! I arrived with my brother around 2 PM, after touring the cottages nearby. I was recommended Stoneacre Brasserie by a friend who is working in the area. The inside is elegantly decorated and very warm feeling, with a large bar in the center. Our server was very attentive and came by often to check in, and refill our drinks. We both ordered a French onion soup to start, and honestly, this was one of the bench French onion soups that I have had. It is hard to find a good one, but this place did it right. For my main course, I had the brisket poutine, which was a huge plate and definitely could have been shared between two people. Probably one of the weakest steak frites we've ever had. It is covered with onion sauce, and felt like it was broiled not seared. Both my husband and I said we wish we went somewhere else, especially paying that price. Overall average food. I actually really like the ambiance and decor inside. I'd prefer to pop in for a drink at the bar & order an app verse having dinner. We got the special of the day which was fish with potatoes and spinach. Everything was a bit bland at our table and most people requested salt. This meal was refreshing to our palate and digestive system from eating heavy this whole trip. We are glad we stumbled onto this establishment. We ordered the hummus plate with veggies and my first time eating watermelon radish, now probably is my favorite veggie. Also my first time eating a wedge salad with a knife but worth it to have the best salad in a lifetime. Oh just to balance it all with a side of fries as I compared to Wingstop (sometimes not hot/fresh) cause that's my standard of fresh hot good fires. Drink menu was extensive and the menu looked expansive as well. We both elected for the steak frites which we are big fans of. The issue came with the steak as it was largely fat and on multiple bites we were chewing cartilage. I understand a bit of fat is expected however there were about 2 bites of both mine and my wifes meal that were not overwhelmed with fat. Hands down the worst dining "experience" we never actually had. We made a reservation for 16 people. Due to really bad weather in Newport, babysitter cancellations and other unforeseen events 6 people couldn't make it - not exactly something we could control. We still showed up with 10 people, ready to celebrate a 30th birthday. Instead, we were met with eye rolls, attitude, and the kind of customer service you'd expect at the DMV on a bad day. They had a table for 16 ready - great! Except they refused to let us sit there. Instead, they made us stand in the middle of the restaurant while they reset a new table for 10, like we had somehow personally offended them by showing up with fewer people. Once seated, they handed us a prix fixe menu no one had mentioned at the time of booking. Surprise! Not only was it severely limited, but several people in our party had allergies and couldn't eat anything on it. To be fair, the waiter was kind and tried to help so shout out to him, the lone bright spot in the entire ordeal. He offered to get us regular menus. But before he could, the manager swooped in to mansplain why a prix fixe menu was "standard for large parties" and nothing could be changed. No empathy. No options. Just condescension. Then came the cherry on top: they wanted to charge $50 to slice a cake we brought ourselves to celebrate the birthday. $5 a slice... to cut a cake. I'm not kidding. At that point, we left. Not only were we treated like an inconvenience, but we overheard the manager rolling their eyes and saying they were still going to charge us $25 a person for walking out. Unbelievable. This makes sense theyre trying to rip you off any chance possible. They're actually criminals. As a federal court has ordered the owners behind Stoneacre Brasserie and Stoneacre Garden in Newport to pay a total of $553,580 in back wages, withheld tips and damages to their employees after all the shady stuff they did before in 2023. So they're just mean awful people to everyone including their own staff. The kicker? We walked into the restaurant next door without a reservation, were seated immediately, treated with kindness, and had a phenomenal meal. Great food, amazing service, and not a single eye, roll in sight. This place made us feel like a burden for simply showing up. A 30th birthday celebration ruined by egos, poor communication, and a complete lack of hospitality. Never again. read more

Came here for a nice surprise dinner, and surprise the service was terrible by Anat. Before you read this just know I have worked in the restaurant industry for 12 years half of them in Newport. Multiple things happened, we got charged $168 for 3 bottles of wine that weren't ordered- okay mistakes happen. We waited 30 minutes for water?? When we were ordering she tried typing our order in on her PHONE - we saw her do this. I was telling my friend I was going to order the $14 glass of wine the waitress asked if I wanted to taste it I was like sure! She brought over 2 bottles of wine both of which I didn't ask to try but I didn't know the other one was not the original one I wanted to taste- the wine she then gave us was $28 a glass INSTEAD of the $14 a glass I wanted to try so talk about confusion and getting swindled. We asked if we could split the bill into 3 separate couples (which I know can be annoying) she said no she doesn't know what we got mind you the restaurant is empty...... and we easily could've helped. Then when we were overcharged $200 she randomly knew what we had ordered so whole time she could've done the checks she just didn't want to seriously it's very simple!!! When we finally got the checks separated there was ANOTHER magical glass of wine that nobody ordered added to the bill after the original bill was overcharged $200. We had to have the receipt checked 3 times and she's annoyed and laughing about it...this seems like this happens a lot and on purpose and we were all extremely dissatisfied. Our server Anat, searched high and low for it but ended up offering an enjoyable substitute at a lower price point. Service was great, attentive, yet not obstructif. While the serving staff, vibe, location, and decor were fabulous, I was massively disappointed with the food - which was barely average (but definitely not an average price) - and no matter how good everything else was, it's a restaurant, so nothing can rescue it if the food is poor. The food would have to improve a LOT for me to even consider going back or recommending it to others. I mean, if the fries are as poor as these were they've a TON of work to do. Finished with the beef bourignon. Disappointing. Dish was lukewarm at best and lacked flavor. Very bland. Service was very good but overall the meal was mediocre.
