I had Chicken Asiago and my partner had the chicken Marsala. We came in on a Monday and they had a special, buy one get one half off, which included a full entree, soup and our salad, and dessert with the entrees costing only $12. I went there tonight and ordered a Cuban sandwich and it was horrible, unlike any other Cuban sandwich that I have had so I sent it back and then the manager came to talk to me and I told him I tasted it and I do not like it and he proceeded to tell me that he will have to charge me half price for the meal because I took a bite out of it a small bite because I didn't even like the way it looked so I said to him I'll pay it but I will never come back here again I have never heard of a restaurant charge you half price for something you sent back and I was going to order something else, but we left and I will never go to that diner again . read more

I place an order to be delivered for 430pm the food never showed up. I called them at 505 pm n they just sent it out then. This is bullshit. My food was ice cold and I should not be charged for this inconvenience. If something is ordered for a certain time that's when it should arrive not an hr or so later. My church was down the road on retreat and we wanted to have a bite when we first arrived. This was only a 1/2 mile down the road and hard to find since it's in a large plaza. There was ample parking. This is a very simple diner with simple food but it was just what we were looking for. We both ordered Manhattan Clam Chowder which I think was homemade, I enjoyed it. I followed it with the coconut chicken breast, baked potato and vegetables. The chicken was tasty, the potato seemed microwaved but it was edible but the vegetables were awful soggy soft and just disintegrated in your mouth. My friend had the balsamic chicken, it was edible. The chicken was fine but no balsamic flavor I could pick up. It was topped with spinach and mozzarella which she said made it extremely watery. Her fries were delicious though but the vegetables were just as bad as mine. She enjoyed the rice pudding for dessert and I the red jello. Our waiter was very very sweet. Used to be our go to place when visiting the in laws. The food was good for a diner style restaurant. They understood the clientele and provided vegetables they could eat , lots of hot coffee and a three course meal . It has become a place we avoid . The last three visits ( kept giving them a second chance ) were inedible. The food was sent back because it was either the wrong order or under/ over cooked. The food here is very good, large portions, and well worth the price. They offer daily early bird, lunch and dinner specials. A huge menu- breakfast, starters, salads, wraps, soups, sandwiches, steaks, classics,  comfort food, and the desserts yummy. Service and food have gotten worst. I think their menu is too big. That's a tipoff that the food can't be fresh. Thus sacrificing taste. Prices have gone up. But the taste is way bellow a diner. I used to call a burger or sandwich for pickup. But the cashier tells me they're too busy when I call. I think they just want me in for the tip. I wish they get it together. Too many issues to go back to this place although it is very close to where I live. Pancakes are my test. They tasted of meat grease so clearly the grill is not being cleaned between foods. And the water is undrinkable. They need to filter the table water better. A lemon might disguise the bad taste but my tap water does not taste as bad as theirs so I have no idea what their problem might be. The wait staff is very nice but the food is not. read more

My favorite local restaurant. Service has always been great, prices are reasonable. Great burgers, try the prime rib, shrimp in the basket and excellent sandwiches and salades, a meal in itself a bowl of French onion soup. I have never had to wait for seating. Went to visit friends that live in area. They suggest this place. What a great place! Nothing fancy just good, hot wholesome food. If you are a senior, you really luck out . Yesterday, April 28, 2019, a neighbor and I went to have a late lunch/early diner. For me it was the first time since The Heritage Restaurant took over, and for my neighbor it was one of their several visits, takeouts, and deliveries. My neighbor kept telling me many times to check out this place, but never did. Let me tell you, this is the best place to eat, service was fantastic, better than other any other places, the food was delicious, portions of food fantastic, (enough for next day's meal). The prices are affordable for the amount of food one gets. Also, if you are a Senior, their menu is made out to accommodate. I definitely will take my visitors here, use their takeout service, as well as call for delivery from time to time. This diner is the best one I've found in this area. Yes, there are a lot of seniors, but they have great waffles, and when they say they have "fresh fruit" it is actually fresh fruit as opposed to that stuff you get in a can or jar covered in syrup. If they run out of it, then that's it. Which is the way it should be if you want good food. Great omelettes, home fries, all the breakfast stuff. Crispy bacon. Good coffee. Friendly and timely service. Great place. So happy it is here as the other places I've been since I've moved here have been pretty disappointing. We went out for breakfast this morning, they were quite busy, and we were seated at a table in the front area. There were people who had finished eating, but were sitting with coffee talking. We were served rather quickly. My companion finished first, and was drinking his coffee, I was still eating, the waiter came by and asked if we wanted more coffee..........we said "no". The waiter reached over me picked up my plate with half my breakfast still on it along with my companions empty plate.....and left the check! We paid the bill and left......we will not be going back, as the people who were sitting and chatting over coffee when we got there were still sitting at their table along with two other tables just chatting. DON'T EAT HERE. I don't understand some of these reviews here. I think wait staff is great , but the food is horrible . I understand that there are not to many place in this area to eat. They basically take FULL advantage of the elder in the area,( even have home delivery) . But the Cook could care less about the customer. Over priced and Poor client table side care...Read on. Our last time dining here. Go to the Red Lion Diner on Route 70 at the circle. At the Heritage Diner we arrived were seated in a booth as we entered so no waiting. Our server took our beverage order and we had beverages in a few minutes. Being our 1st time we took a look at the specials. My husband chose PrimeRib $16.95 it was good to his liking. I ordered Fettuccine Alfredo broccoli w/chicken $14.95 was good the alfredo had a nice taste the chicken was good. Our daughter order the same as I. As she was enjoying her meal she can across a BLACK HAIR in her food...gross. We brought this to the server' attention as asked if the manager would do something. She was running back an forth to get us answers. The manager DID NOT come to our table to address this gross issue he had his server do it for him. They finally took the meal off the bill. They would not give my daughter dessert as a 'comp' as a sorry for their gross hair issue. We ended up buying her Choco mint ice cream $3.50 for 2 scoops w/whip cream over priced (I can get 2 containers of Turkey Hill for this price). Food and service has been going down hill, but we continued to go because my husband is a retired air force veteran and likes to use places that honor those who served. When we went to pay the cashier/host was very rude. He said all the other times in the past year that we ate there, the discount was a mistake. He would not get a manager, said he was not getting yelled at over this. Said it was our prerogative not to come back. Stopped here since my Mother-In-Law had a Gift Certificate. The service was slow and the food was not that good. The Ruben Triple Decker Sandwich was barely 3 bites and dripped grease. The Fries were mushy and my son's Chicken Tenders had a fishy taste. The Apple Walnut Chicken Salad was ok at best but some of the lettuce had seen better days. Iced tea was very weak. On our way out ,the Unfriendly Hostess told my Mother-In-Law that she couldn't use the Gift Certificate because we didn't order from the "Specials" Menu. Didn't say that on the Certificate. i'm 66....have earned the right to relax, be nice to others and assume that others will be nice to me....go in for routine bloodwork across the parking lot from Heritage...they open at 6 but this place not til 7 so i go for bloodwork later (fasting with no coffee)...i'm so looking forward to hot cup of coffee and senior special breakfast....get there at 8 am and only 1 car parked near them....i look for special menu and none so i ask the one waitress....without greeting me or smiling she takes out pile...i ask her a favor...could you please put on channel 56...she says she's not supposed to (nobody in the darn restaurant and it's breakfast time in a retirement area where almost nobody works) but will until it gets crowded (doing me a big favor)...i grab special menu and go to sit down in front of tv....orig channel is gone and now it shows channel 50.....i thought she hit the wrong button so i told her again, "channel 56"....in the nastiest possible voice she retorts, "i heard you; i picked up the wrong remote"...i don't do well with nasty and neither should you....i said, "i'm leaving; you're too nasty for me"....i'm a career sales rep....15 yrs ago i won trip on Munchmobile for Star Ledger newspaper because i wrote that i've eaten out over 20,000 times....that was 15 yrs ago...it's increased since then....i'm an expert on which restaurants deserve "OUR" business...this one certainly does not! read more
