First time at the Hidden Pig and I wish this place stayed hidden for us. Reservation at 8:15 and our table was not ready which is forgivable as we waited and watched numerous parties sit before us we finally asked to sit on the lower patio and was told "usually reservations don't want the patio but if you do ok"....so we finally sat...the smell of garbage lingered in the air as we ordered appetizers. Wish we took that inside seat ...the waitress rushed up to us asking if we want anything to drink...no menu or QRC code at the table so we asked to see a menu....wait staff should know some basics 1. Introduce yourself 2. Drop menus...this young lady was clearly new or overwhelmed...... or old and over it.We asked for waters as she did not offer or bring these also had to ask for napkins another interception we had to ask for utensils.....are you going to bring us anything without asking? No beer glass, not water, no utensils, no menu like damn lady... . Order appetizers. Fried pickles delicious and bacon truffle they were fries -cold -sprinkledwith bacon bits ..came out in a skillet and was super underwhelming. On top of the cold fries that were spray farted with little bits of bacon we asked the waitress to not take our appetizers as we were picking at them and clearly not done but she was in a rush to swiftly take our plates and not exchange them for entrees..... Entrees come. My sister got the burger and liked it. Side of smothered tots that were again cold. Brother in law got pulled pork grilled cheese and fries. Should have gotten a plate of ice everything was cold and average and I got the pig dog with onion rings...ice cold Recap service was terrible... food was disappointing.... and we will absolutely never frequent this establishment. I've been wanting to check out The Hidden Pig so such a long time. The out door deck is cute and has a nice view of the water. Service was okay. Fun menu with a lot of things bacon. Loaded tots for an appetizer was tasty. I know that I should've most certainly tried a burger but I wasn't in the mood. I got the mac attack (mac & cheese grilled cheese) I just thought that was such an interesting concept. Loaded fries is the way to go. Mango Margaritas tasted wonderfully! I perused the menu long and hard before I even entered the restaurant. I knew what I wanted before I even got there. And even when I did get there my eyes quickly became bigger than my stomach. The vibe is very chill and relaxed. Not rushed at all. When my daughter and I entered we were greeted by the hostess with a big smile. She told us it might be 20-35 minutes and I said that was fine. She chatted us up while we waited offered a menu and when I told her I already knew we conversed about my menu choices and babe interjected her favorites as well. When three tables became available she gave us a choice instead of just choosing for us which I thought was very nice. Out waiter was attentive yet not overbearing. Checking in when food was served but giving enough times between the appetizers and meal. We got the bacon board fried pickles the big bad wolf and the blood sweat and tears. Every thing we had made me do a food dance. The only thing I didn't like was that the Caesar had Dijon in the dressing which just is my dislike nothing wrong with the salad. My wife and I heard about this place through friends and decided to give a try. In a nutshell, this place should be renamed the Hidden Gem. The craft beer selection is excellent. Try Full Clip - bloody lovely! The food was fantastic also. We had wings (up there with the very best I've had in the US, I shit you not) and the rice and pork- really tasty! The service was great too - Pete really knew his beers and helped my wife select a delicious peach flavored craft beer. I went here last night for the first time. I met up with a buddy I had not seen in many years. It was busy but not too loud, we were able to have a conversation. I had the wings as they were on special. They were very good. I tried a couple different beers and they were good as well. I liked my server, Mia, as she was very attentive and friendly. She laughed at our stupid jokes and I relied on her recommendations for my wing flavors and they were great. I will definitely be back to try other menu items as they looked awesome as I saw them being delivered to other tables. It's crazy how this place is minutes away from my house and I've just visited recently. I'm not the biggest fan of the inside, it's a bit small and awkward but the outdoor deck is perfect. You get a beautiful view of the Merrimack River. They have a HUGE drink menu and the food is tasty. My wife and I have been waiting to go here since it was announced well over a year ago. The location is great, the window seat we got will be excellent for people-watching in the summer. We were sat quickly and served quickly, with a fair drink menu, especially for being open for about a week. Though we are are poutine people everywhere we go, we decided on the tots. They were super crunchy and seasoned well. We ordered the OG Burger, medium rare, and the pulled pork sandwich for entrees, both with fries, as well as the Ipswich IPA and a canned Angry Orchard. The burger was probably cooked medium to medium-well, though the sauce compensated enough. The pork was good, though there was something about the cole slaw that wasn't for me. I couldn't place it. Lastly, my wife is an admitted French fry snob. Though well salted, between the fries, cheese, slaw, and meat, it was just too much. I would have loved to tame it with a dessert or something (milkshake?), but there was no dessert menu. As this is a new restaurant and our only experience so far, I'm reserving a 5 star review until I have another opportunity. I am excited to see this place find their groove. read more

Totally Ridiculous way to seat people by insisting that they make a reservation , went there with some friends when they opened nobody was in the restaurant and were asked to leave because we didn't have a reservation girl at the counter said there's nothing she can do. this was the second time this happened to us. so we bumped into some friends across the street at Marks deli as we looked across the street and watched and then walked by the window at 20 minutes past the opening hour and two couples were all that were In the restaurant. Just something about being turned away none of us will ever go back again, even though we did enjoy the food , the few times that we were there before covered. read more

Second time attempt to try the hidden pig. First time was full and we couldn't get seated which is fair. Tried again on Sunday at 12 and place is empty, maybe one table was taken and bar area was completely empty and was told we would not be seated today because they were full and had no open reservations and that we should of made reservations before hand, even though their website states they are not taking reservation at this time except for back patio. It's 50 degrees, rather not make a reservation for brunch and a side of the cold. Would of understood if the host wasn't rude but it was just my husband and I and we could of sat at the bar or waited but wasn't even told a wait time just was told by the host that we couldn't be seated today. read more

I've been to the Hidden Pig a few times now for brunch and it is pretty excellent. They have an awesome breakfast sandwich and homefries. My husband enjoyed his sandwich. They have a great selection of draft beers, along with plenty of cocktail choices. I stuck with craft beer but the majority of people seemed to be enjoying mimosas, breakfast margaritas, and bloody marys. The atmosphere is very fun and the service was great. I will definitely be back as it is my go to for after a half marathon I run every December in Haverhill (I live in NH). read more

As a chef, i was so excited to go here and eat for a "late night" destination. we got reservations at 9:30 and arrived at 9:15 since they close the kitchen at 10. I went to the rest room, came back and the hostess looks me in the eye and says, "you know we close at 10, right? The kitchen is already clean." I ask her why did they have open reservations, she looks at me, we walk out. This hostess tonoght killed the whole vibe of the night. The hidden pig definitely a hidden gem! A popular youthful hangout spot for those in their 20s-30s with odd food combos you wouldn't think of in Haverhill. Two of my friends ordered the that's my jam burger which consisted of bacon shallot jam on a burger which they raved about, I wasn't personally feeling as risky with the jam situation as they were so I went with a safer go to comfort food choice of bbq Mac and cheese which never goes wrong! Ohhh and their Buffalo chicken egg rolls are a must if you're a Buffalo chicken fan, the crunchy egg shell wrap makes it similar to Buffalo chicken nachos but maybe less of the mess! read more

The only thing that separates this restaurant from the Merrimack River is a parking lot, but it's no distraction from the great views. This place while a little hidden is everything we were looking for. Food cooked to perfection, service was on point, not too little, not too much, and the pricing was perfect. The only reason I didn't give this place five stars was their menu. Food was great, but their offerings were a bit strange. I ended up getting a burger, which they have a great variety of. The waitress was below horrible she actually told us to leave because people were waiting for the table. Been meaning to get here for a while and I'm glad I finally did. Great little atmosphere and a full restaurant at 5:30. Food comes fast and tables turn quick so don't pass on by because it looks too busy. Good little beer menu and the mixed drink I had was super tasty. The bacon board was delicious with a mix of different types of bacon from sweet to spicy. Burger names were unique and my "Big Bad Wolf" with a gooey melted cheddar and blueberry jam did NOT disappoint. To end the meal with baked blueberry donuts and bacon on top was perfect. The theme most certainly is bacon. I had their Bloody Mary made with bacon flavored vodka, garnished with bacon, and rimmed with a bacon seasoning. The menu is not extensive, which I can certainly appreciate. It was however a little choppy to follow. At least part of the menu I didn't understand if it was part of a dish or a separate dish, so I had to ask the server. My burger was great! I actually declined the possibility of adding bacon. The front seating is all high tops and a bit crammed, but overall the decor is great! This is a fun spot in downtown Haverhill. read more

My first time in this establishment and I saw 2 dogs in the restaurant. The place was packed at full capacity even though they had outside seating that was not being used. I got the Cuban sandwich and it was ok. But the fact that the waitress was petting the dog and serving food was not my cup of tea especially with COVID, small restaurant, at full capacity. read more

It intrigued me because it had blueberry jam on it. It was AMAZING!!!!! The flavors were perfect! I loved this burger! I ordered sweet potato fries-yum! My hunny ordered the big rig burger. Updating my review: I love this place. The burgers are fantastic, the brunch is very enjoyable, great beer selection and drinks etc. BUT, the stools in this place are so uncomfortable that all I can think about the entire time I am there, is how I can't wait to not have to be there anymore. Also, they need a vestibule, or one of those heat curtains, in the winter the place is absolutely freezing from people coming and going and all the heat being let out. If they fixed the heat issue and the awful stools, this place would be in my top 3. read more

Finally got around to hitting up the Hidden Pig a few days ago. We mainly were just looking to do the trivia here and weren't there for a meal. But we did get some drinks and apps which definitely hit the spot!! We ordered the Poutine and Buffalo Tots. Both were phenomenal!! I haven't had Poutine since first trying it in Montreal so was super psyched to see it on the menu! It comes with a sunny side up egg and pork belly bits which was a cool take on the dish. The buffalo tots were an amazing potato version of buffalo chicken!! I love that they come with Gorgonzola cheese They have a very extensive craft canned beer list and a few crafts on Draft. The cocktail menu had a few interesting looking tasty drinks and a seasonal winter sangria that came with a caramel sugar rimmed glass and a cinnamon stick in it! Yum. I'm not a huge fan of high top table seating and that is 85 percent of what's offered here for seating. I'm hoping next time I come there is a low table available! I'll definitely be back because I need to try one or two of their incredible looking burgers that I keep hearing all about. Definitely will be back there soon!! read more

We got the pulled pork nachos on a recommendation from the waiter, Pete. They were delicious. The 3 of us shared them with some buffalo chicken egg rolls. The drinks were good, poured well. The service was very good also I once we were seated. My only complaint is when we walked in we stood there for a decent amount of time without even being greeted by the 2 employees nearby (one of which ended up being our super attentive waiter). There weren't many people in the outdoor seating section, were say by the window for some great people watching. Sidenote - I've always loved penny floors, but I'm not sure they're good for bathrooms, the edges have gotten disgusting and many of the pennies on the edge are discolored and nasty. It's time to pull it up and spend the pennies on a new floor. read more
