Fish and grits, hash brown casserole, and pancake
    Sarah R.

Affordable southern cookin' with a friendly & casual local vibe. Seriously cheap prices for the Keys. You even get a little water view and can sit on the wrap-around porch or inside. Loved that I could order a single pancake... and it was massive and delicious! Their homemade hash brown casserole is scrumptious. Fish and grits was just okay, but I sure managed to eat it all. Waiters continuously checked on me and made sure my water was full. Glad I've got a solid breakfast option when I get an early start on my drive into the Keys!

Great little hole in the wall restaurant with partial water views. Very relaxed feel with good food at reasonable prices. Certainly cheaper than most places you'll find in the FL Keys. Inside is diner style with soft music. It's certainly nothing fancy inside. Our waiter was very friendly. He recommended the Philly cheesesteak and onion rings, and neither disappointed. The wife also enjoyed her burger and fries. It's located off the beaten path, driving through a neighborhood to get there, but well worth a visit.

Fast and friendly service and really good food. Kids loved their pancakes and French toast. Hash brown casserole was also delicious

Country breakfast with bacon and hash brown casserole

The service was excellent and the country breakfast was delicious. The cornbread was sweet and the savory bacon and eggs were a great combination. The hash brown casserole was a bit peppery for my taste, but it was still good. There is also a beautiful view of the water if you sit in the right spot.

Cool little Mom n Pop diner, nestled away at the back of a small development in Key Largo area. It ain't much to look at inside, but the service team is on point - friendly and attentive, and the cook knows his stuff because we all enjoyed the breakfast we ordered! The hash brown casserole as a side has a $3 up charge but $3 doesn't go far these days, so go for it. It's a big hunk of potatoey cheesy goodness! Definitely make a stop here for breakfast while in town, you won't be sorry.

Breakfast in the Keys. Arrived early Sunday morning. Clean place with a great view. Had the hash brown casserole, it was different but nothing to write home about. The hubs had the cinnamon pancakes which he said were "tasty" I had the eggs Benedict over crab cakes, they were good. All was good, nothing exceptional. Good service. A solid 3.5 but unfortunately there is no way to leave that rating

Great little local spot! The Hideout Café has a laid-back vibe, friendly service, and tasty breakfast favorites. Portions are generous, and it feels like a true Key Largo hidden gem

It came with a pineapple-based sauce that worked really well with it, and the other sauces on the side had a nice mild kick without going overboard. If you go, start here. The calamari was light and crunchy, which is exactly how it should be. Nothing flashy, just solid execution with a standard marinara on the side. I asked for a piña colada and got something closer to a mango daiquiri hybrid. Honestly, I did not care. It tasted good and I am easy when the drink works. The fries that came with the Caesar wrap were crunchy, warm, and had some seasoning on them. Came with ketchup. No complaints. The teriyaki wings were crunchy and cooked well, but the sauce was not my style. It felt like it was just poured on top rather than worked into the meat. If you have ever had spare rib tips from a New York Chinese spot where they cook the meat right and then just ladle sauce over it at the end, you know what I mean. I prefer the sauce to be part of the experience, not an afterthought. The Caesar wrap was fine. I consider myself something of a Caesar salad critic, and this one was basic. Not bad, not memorable, just standard. The wrap itself held up though. Gus's Grille is a solid spot. Come for the crabcake and let everything else be a pleasant bonus.

The sampler comes with two conch fritters, two coconut shrimp, two bacon wrapped items (which we replaced), cracked conch, and lobster and conch ceviche. I have to say this while it's fresh in my mind. The moment I had the lobster and shrimp ceviche, I got chills. Just an incredible burst of flavor. Tiny bit of heat at the end but nothing overwhelming. Just really, really good. The conch fritters are solid too. Chewy, not over breaded, and served with two sauces. One is sweet and one is more of a mayo style. There's also something that eats like a conch curry puff situation. I liked the cracked conch better personally, but both are worth trying. The coconut shrimp is also really good. The sampler also comes with tortilla chips on the side. The lobster bisque is delicious. Great flavor with little chunks of what I'm pretty sure is lobster throughout. Nothing more to add really. It's just good. The mahi and avocado dish has a nice seared taste to it. Not flame broiled exactly, but that kind of grilled sear that you want on fish. The pico de gallo is similar to what came with the ceviche, and it works really well here. All in at $75.

Although the menu was heavy with seafoods, I ordered a club wrap with fries. My lunch partner ordered conch tacos with tortilla chips. The wrap itself was wheat based. It included ham, turkey, bacon, tomato, lettuce, cheese with an unknown sauce. It was good but the ham should've been sliced thinner rather than big chunks of ham. The fries were seasoned well. The conch tacos were good. The conch was fried and mixed with picol and red cabbage in a soft tortilla shell. The dish was accompanied by tortilla chips. All was tasty. The staff was knowledgeable. The prices were reasonable.
