My husband and I come to the Hideout for breakfast at least once when we are in town, which is pretty darn often. The food is fresh and also always hot. The staff always makes you feel like your at home. I love having conversations with them.. they always have a something great to say about the area. I also enjoy reading the funny Coconut newspaper while I'm there. I would recommend trying this restaurant if you haven't already... Also it has that keys vibes to it. What a nice find that lives up to the name! Tucked back into the mangroves with waterfront dining, it's a breakfast and lunch place. Our omelettes were full of ingredients and delicious. The hash brown casserole was cheesey and moist and yummy! My only complaint would be that they do not butter the English muffin in the kitchen and the butter on the table doesn't really melt into the nooks and crannies. But, that's not enough of a worry to keep us from returning! read more

A good breakfast choice. Unfortunately they allow smoking in the eating area. As a mother and non smoker that's not something I want to be around especially when I'm eating. Dog friendly eating areas are great but this was to much! We had an off leash dog eating the food my 10 month old was dropping. I had the dog licking my leg while I was eating and then he pooped a few tables away. All while the owner and staff were not paying attention. This is a great local place on largo sound. We usually go for breakfast via our car but we have gone to lunch while out on the boat. 5 stars for breakfast. I don't remember what other meals we've eaten there, it's been a few years since we ate dinner there, it was good but we're a lot closer to our favorite dinner place so we usually stick to that place in the evening (mainly so we don't have to drive and we can drink and walk home). read more

This place is a hidden gem in Key Largo tucked away along the water!! It is the place to go for breakfast (or lunch, but let's be real I always get their breakfast) if you're in the upper Keys. The have a pretty expansive menu including daily specials to choose from. Everything I've had has always been delicious and the quality stays consistent. The atmosphere really encompasses the Keys vibe, and you can have a great view of the water while you eat! They have a variety of seating including indoor, patio, and outdoor options (outdoor options are pet friendly!). The staff always makes you feel at home and their customer service is superb. They will all take the time to check in on you regardless of if you were "their table" or not. And service is always quick, even during extremely crowded times those women know how to hustle!! This place is always a MUST do whenever I'm down visiting family in Key Largo and I definitely recommend checking it out. Great food, great views, great atmosphere, great service! Just keep an eye out for their sign and turn in! (One last note is that parking can be a little tricky on the more crowded days, but I've always been able to find a spot.) read more

We were visiting a friend at an RV Park and she took us on a day trip to Key Largo. This is a dog friendly restaurant that is apparently popular with the locals. The service was friendly and efficient. We sat outside because we had small dogs with us. One of them made use of the nearby water dish. I ordered the Reuben sandwich. It was good. We had a deli back in Maine we used to go to that made them so great that no other Reuben can match them, but I had no complaint with this one. It came with seasoned French fries that were tasty. Also with a dipping sauce in a small container, and I thought they had forgotten my cole slaw, but it was also in one of those tiny containers. Funny. Another oddity- I was supposed to get lettuce and tomato with the sandwich but didn't. No big deal. My wife got the Lobster Cake platter. It was okay as she let me sample it, but we assumed the lobster cakes weren't made on site. They seemed pre-fab. But again, okay. Our friend went with a breakfast offering and was happy with it. The rest rooms are accessed from outdoors around the corner from the outdoor seating. They have a lot of humorous decor and signage to look at while you wait or eat. Be sure to take a selfie with the plastic cannon. You can also walk down by the water if you choose. They in fact do not serve alcoholic beverages. Came for "brunch" since it pops up on my search for mimosas and the waitress informed me they do not serve alcohol. On top of that they have horrible service, rude staff, no one greeting or inviting you to sit; not even a "seat yourself" sign to know what to do. We sat ourself and the table we sat at was disgusting. When I moved the menu an odor emanated and it was old crusty juice that held the menu on the table The great view does not make up for the lack of hygiene or horrible service. read more

Learned about this truly hidden gem from a local. They open at 6am for their made-to-order breakfast & lunch - with stunning views of the sunrise over the inter coastal waterway. I enjoy one of the best egg sandwiches ever. And my husband had one of the best Creamed Chipped Beef breakfasts. Excellent service - quick & very friendly. Came to this "hideaway" in Key Largo with my family one random Thursday morning for breakfast. I'm very particular about my hole in the walls in the keys but this did not disappoint! The views were something else. The restaurant is literally on waters edge. It was beautiful. We sat outside, but shaded, with the dog the whole ambience was just lovely. I'll come again just for that alone. The breakfast menu is a lot of diner type food. They had biscuits that were so delicious, melt in your mouth good. I suggest ordering the chorizo omelet. I enjoyed mine! I'm curious what the dinner menu has. Sunset here has to be unreal. 12/13 - After running the Islamorada 10K, we were looking for a breakfast place. It is on a side street off the main highway. They have many menu items and at a reasonable price. My sister and I were starving so we ordered 2 scrambled eggs, bacon, home style fries with onion and a side of rye toast for me, my sister ordered the biscuit. The plates came rather quickly which was perfect! The eggs were a bit greasy but well done, the fries tasted great but the bacon was the winner here. Thick, crunchy, not greasy pieces of bacon. I could of ordered more. As I was finishing my breakfast, I noticed a hair (see pic) and I just didn't eat any more. My sister ended up ordering another biscuit, it was so buttery and it was toasted. I should of ordered one to go. I gave it a one star because of the hair on my food. I can't get over that. read more

Talk about off the beaten path/hole in the wall... or better yet hole on the beach. This is a veeeery homey restaurant right at the entrance of the Keys in Key Largo. It is right on the water and literally looks like someone's house. We've been coming here my whole life... and most recently my dad insisted on coming here for his birthday breakfast. The waitresses are all the NICEST people you will ever meet. They are lively, funny, and attentive. The whole place is decorated with funny signs that the owner picks out and hangs himself - we were lucky to meet him this last visit and he was happy to hear from some admirers and about how much we liked his signage! The food is plentiful and delicious. I love their biscuits and gravy & their French toast is the perfect texture. Their prices are unbeatable and do an awesome fish fry you must try! read more

I didn't go into the restaurant but rather I ordered through Uber Eats. I'd never eaten food from this restaurant before but the pictures looked promising. I ordered the key largo fish sandwich which was a sandwich with fried grouper and cheese and tomato. Simple enough. I've had fish sandwiches in the keys before and they usually know how to make good fried fish. But for some reason this sandwich was the blandest fish sandwich I've ever had. It honestly tasted like I was eating cardboard. I dont usually leave bad reviews ok places because I know how hard they work on their food, but this sandwich was so bad I needed to put this out there. Thank God for the tartar sauce that came with it, and for the fact I would have eaten anything because I was just that hungry, or else this sandwich would have gone in the trash. There's no passion in what I just ate. No flavor, no care in presentation, it was soggy, and just plain gross. I was definitely expecting better from a fish sandwich in a local keys restaurant. Im making this review so hopefully they start putting more care into the food they sell to customers. I would not have paid for that if I knew it would have no taste or flavor. Also the tomato was too hard and I had to cut out the middle part which was still yellow/green because I couldn't bite down on it. Being from Texas, I was kind of worried that no one were wearing masks including the wait staff and dining guests however, we kept ours on until we were served. The menu had so many amazing options, it was honestly hard to decide so we did what we always do - we each ordered a dish to share and that's what we did. We both ordered coffees and the Salmon Breakfast & Lobster Benedict - we giggled when we got the receipt because they misspelled Lobster (it showed Losbter) - lol! Our bill was $41.65; after our nice tip, the total was $49.98. Worth it, worth it, worth it! We both agreed that the flavors of our meal were out of this world. We would definitely return. On our receipt, it showed "ORDER: DOG POUND WOOD" - we are still trying to figure out why it said that. Maybe that's where we sat? Who knows. Parking was challenging but easy at the same time. You'll have to back out as it's hard to turn around but no big deal. Everyone was very kind and helpful. We enjoyed watching the Porsche club that met by the water in the back of the restaurant. Very cool cars. We learned walking to the water that there were tables in the back near the water so that's where we will request, the next time we are in that neck of the woods. She seemed very dedicated to customer service and (hopefully) would have been appalled at the way this woman was talking to the customers. My companion had an egg breakfast and was also happy. The coffee is pretty average. The ambiance is perfect. The restaurant is next to a marina. The service is friendly ...but it is slow. Be prepared to have things take awhile and also to have an empty coffee cup for good chunk of the time. I would certainly come back and I give this place a thumbs up. Total waste of money and morning. Service was terrible. The place was very busy and you can tell the staff hated it. Three parties who sat and ordered after us got their food before us. The roof was leaking all over the place. The tabled smelled like mildew. We should have just left right away. We ordered the SOS - that was pretty much inedible. Eggs were rotten. Hash brown casserole was bland. I got the lobster omelette, which was plain and tasteless like they used frozen lobster. Biscuit was doughy. Coffee was good. Took them FOREVER to check us out, which made it worse cause the vibes were so rotten in there we just wanted to get out. They ended up taking my breakfast off the bill to make up for the terrible service after the lady made excuses... "we're short staffed". Lol not sure how that's an excuse for your incompetence when three other parties getting their food before us. Sounds like you forgot to put the order in. Would have been better to just apologize.
