Microblading review: its unfortunate to say I completely regret getting them done. I came in because I wanted "twins" not "sisters". The end result resulted in them still being uneven. Crappy, but okay. I figured no big deal, I'd just wait it out since it's temporary and find someone else. It has been over 3.5 years and the color has faded to an orangish brownish color, and not disappeared. So it's NOT TEMPORARY. It's an actual tattoo. Noo! My dermatologist said I can get rid of it with laser. It's a scar now. That's so upsetting. So now I have permanent uneven brows, until I get them fixed by laser. Here is a brutally honest review that like another Yelper mentioned, I feel somewhat bad leaving because Tinel is a very nice person. However, I think its only fair when so much money is involved for a procedure, that people have a fair understanding of a business. I started going to Tinel in 2014 when she was in Studio City at the Bronzed Bunny for her to do my brows. Admittedly, they are a mess and over-tweezed from the late 90's. Nonetheless, she was always professional and did a good job and I was happy with going to see her. When she left Studio City and started The Highbrow in Newport I was so happy and cheered her on. When I saw that she offered microblading services I was like "Ok, her IG pictures are great and she is a nice person. I am willing to make the hour+ drive to have her do this for me." She drew on the desired shape of my brows and while I was a bit apprehensive after seeing most microblading artists use measurements to ensure symmetry, I trusted her process of free hand drawing them on. I had done research and I knew a second appointment was necessary in order to complete the procedure. So when my brows still looked a mess after my first appointment, I didn't think too much of it. I went back for my second appointment and she did her thing again. I waited 4-6 weeks and it was clear that my brows were uneven. Noticeably uneven. I still have to spend a good amount of time penciling them to get them to not be. Seeing how Tinel reached out to another Yelper saying that she never wants a client to be unsatisfied, I texted her to let her know that well, I am unsatisfied and asked her what could be done. That was on a Saturday. I waited all weekend and on Monday I texted again following up. On Tuesday I got a text back saying that they could pass the message on to Tinel and to send pictures. I sent pictures a couple hours later. The response was "I can't see the difference they look great to me but I will show Tinel." Why thank you mysterious person who I *thought* was Tinel originally (as I had been texting Tinel for 4 years using that same number) thank you for discounting my concerns. I asked who I was corresponding with and she said it was the receptionist. Weird how any other texts I sent to make appointments were Tinel but the first time I text regarding an issue its not Tinel. My last correspondence was 2 days ago. It has now been almost a week and still have not heard from Tinel. I also have no confidence that I will and at this point I am considering this a loss for me and moving on. I know Tinel is working and in town because I follow both the Highbrow and her personal page on Instagram. There is no reason why in the past 6 days I couldn't have received a phone call or even a text from Tinel. While I have no problem paying someone for their work, I do have an issue that I spent $500 for a total of 2 hours of work from Tinel (1 hour each appointment). When someone charges a premium for their time, its because of the investment they have made in themselves to be a professional and the best in their industry. I believe Tinel does a good job for people with full brow shapes who want a fuller brow. I do not believe she has the skills to take sparse brows and make them fuller. The instagram pictures are all directly following an appointment. However, after the brows are healed, they look completely different. So buyer beware. If you already have full brows and want them even more full, I believe Tinel can help you. If you are looking for even brows, I suggest you do your homework before dropping $500 and not even getting the courtesy of a call back. read more

Before finding this Jem Hint hint Tinel I was getting my eyebrows threaded in different spots in the OC and boy did they do a number on thinning them out and loosing my high arch ( evil eyebrow ) look I've had forever! Until I found Tinel! She is such a sweet heart , such a precessional at her art! She was able to save my brows and shape them slowly back to there natural habitat. In writing this review for the microblading...I waited awhile to write this review because I had mixed feelings on talking badly about a service...so here's my story: I am a natural blonde and have to draw my brows in everyday (yes even after getting them micro bladed). When I initially went get my brows done the first time the tech refused to do the color I wanted bc she thought it was too dark but I told her I wear a full face of makeup and this is the color I want...long story short she did the color she wanted and convinced me it'd be darker when I came in for my touch up. I was not happy or impressed with the shape...I came for my touch up and followed all after care instructions. After they were fully healed I was still drawing in my brows...within 6 months my brows were back to their natural color and looked like I never had them Microbladed...not worth the 600$ i recently had them evaluated by another company and can't wait to get them fixed. A few months before my wedding I stumbled upon The Highbrow's IG page and fell in love with Tinel's work. At the time I was following a few microblading artists but decided to come here after all. I'm so glad i did!! I love my brows so much! Tinel was able to give my brows a bit more height since they were sparse on the top arch area and even a little more length. I've gone to both Tinel and Kayla here for brow combos (tint + wax) and both do a great job. I have really light blonde hair and without makeup my brows look non-existent, but the tinting they do is awesome and typically lasts about 3 weeks, after 4-5 weeks they're still a bit tinted but I need to touch up with some makeup when I go out. This place is a bit pricier than what I've paid for at some other threading and wax studios, but the quality is better so it's worth the extra few bucks. read more

I have has very sparse eyebrows for most of my life because over tweezing as a teenager. I have always penciled them on and then filled with powder. Over the years I had contemplated tattooing but never really liked the results I saw on other people. I had become interested in microblading but was still hesitant. I found Tinel on Instagram and loved the pictures of her work. The ones that stood out to me were the full transformations. I booked my appointment. The day of went really smooth. Tinel was very professional and helpful. She explained the procedure to me. She drew out the outline and we agreed about the shape. I have to say when I was done and looked in the mirror I was literally crying because I was so happy. They looked so good. The healing does take time and I followed all the directions exactly. They go dark, scab, light, and then darker again. By the two week mark it was completely healed but the color kept improving. You need to know this is not the final result. I then went at 6 weeks for my touch up. We went over any areas I had concerns with. She did the outline again and we agreed. After the touch up she showed me again and asked me if I wanted anything more. I did ask for a little more on the front. And she added with no issues. Only you know how you usually color in your brows. They looked amazing. I was so happy after my first visit but could not believe how good they look after the touch up. The healing on the touch up has been about the same but seems like it went a little faster. I am at the two week mark and so happy. I can't believe I can wake up and not draw on my eyebrows. When I do wear a full face of makeup I still use a little pencil and powder to go with the look. But it's so much easier and looks so good. I could not be happier!
