Working Hands Fermentation - The very refreshing Dorado Especial!

Working Hands Fermentation has been on my "to try" list for quite some time. In fact there were a…read morecluster of breweries I haven't tried in Hood River that I was very eager to try so a day trip to Hood River was in order. Working Hands was one of those and we noticed that this brewery specializes in lagers. We were very excited to hear this as we love lagers very much. I don't remember exactly what lager Steve got but it was a nice, crisp one as one would come to hope that this type of beer would have. It was tasty. And I knew exactly what I would be ordering. I saw that the brewery had a Mexican Lager which is one of my favorite kind of lager. So it didn't take much thought as to what I would be getting. The name of the beer was the Dorado Especial. Flavor features are what you would find in a lager such as this. A biscuity flavor, crispness and perhaps a touch of a corn flavor were at work here. It was quite tasty and very enjoyable to have. All of the breweries on our most recent trip here were quite good in fact.

We did order food and then without saying anything the waitress dropped a buzzer in front of us. When the buzzer went off we just kind of looked to her and she said ( i guess i can get your food) like wtf.. lol ok There were only like five people in there but she was to busy for us. Then after my boyfriend left a review the owner verbally assaulted him. I think if you are local or a friend this place is great otherwise i would never go in if you expect any kind of costumer service.

Ordered 2 beers and a pizza, and took a growler home filled with the 10.3% ABV Stout I was served. Our ticket wasn't too bad and the pizza was good. They have a captive audience on the mountain there- as we were seated there must have been 35 or so people plowing in after us. I enjoyed the respite from drive and would return.

It was also in the middle of a heat wave in OR, so we asked to sit outside. After my husband snagged our table, I brought our well-trained and well-behaved Siberian with us to the patio. There was another poorly-behaved dog, but my dog could not have cared any less, and it was far enough away that it didn't bother me too much either. The outdoor seating was minimal and basic, but did the job. Thankfully there was shade from the umbrellas. I put my dog in his "tuck" command under me as he is trained to do at restaurants, and proceeded to look at the menu. To be honest, the food looked pretty good, and also smelled pretty good, as I watched other patrons get their meals. However, we were still pretty stuffed, so we settled with a beer flight. The beers were out to our table pretty quickly, but after trying them, my husband and I came to the consensus that we expected more from the only brewing company in town. As another Yelper put it, the beers fell flat for us too. I was hoping there would be more/different notes to each beer, which is the whole point of sampling multiple, but they all seemed quite monotone. It started getting pretty warm underneath our umbrella, so we quickly wrapped up our beer flight and left. The view was gorgeous, and the location splendid (hence the 4 stars), and perhaps next time I'd be down to try one of their dishes, specifically the elkburger, but I was a little disappointed in the beer. I've been to plenty of breweries to enjoy beers there and also bought craft beers/growlers for home, so I'd like to say I'm decently versed in beer, but this missed the mark.
