I have been coming here consistently for about a month. Unfortunately, I have to revise my review. The cleanliness and service are lacking. Tartine does not give me the impression that they care about your business. Their pre-packaged food items gave me food poisoning twice. Avoid.
My friends who are locals absolutely love coming here, so Tartine is in our rotation of places to meet for coffee/breakfast. Whether you sit inside or outside, it's a very beautiful space. During our last visit, we initially sat inside but it was very hot and loud inside. So we collectively ageed to sit outside which was the right move. The staff are friendly and willing to answer questions despite being very busy. In the past, I've enjoyed the: **EGG SANDWICH : herb aioli, white cheddar, arugula, sweet potato bun 15.25 **TURKEY CLUB: smoked turkey, crispy chicken skin, avocado, pickle mayo 18.95 On my latest visit, My iced latte was good and i drank it in about 5 seconds, i'll admit I though it would be a little bigger. We also ordered a chocolate rye pastry of some sort ( i forget) but that was very good, and would definitely order it again.
Absolutely beautiful setting. The patio has plenty of seating and cool. The interior is lovely and serene. Orders are taken at the cash register and food is brought out. The quiche was baked perfectly- delicate custard and a beautiful crust. The salad was crisp, fresh, and dressed with a terrific vinaigrette. The tuna sandwich was delicious. The bread had a great chew, good crust. The filling was just the right ratio to bread. Yummy tuna - super flavor. A mini suggestion would be that it seemed to missing a surprise. The only reason for this comment is the sandwich was graced with a pickled carrot. A pickled carrot! Consider tossing some fried capers into the tuna salad. The texture and crunch would serve as that tiny surprise. Again, it's fantastic as is. We took a baguette home to enjoy later. Tartine knows bread. Excellent texture and chew. Definitely worth a visit. And a return visit.

Prices are the same as the other places, but the sizes weren't what I expected, tiny and pricey. That alone made me realize this spot might not be for me. The pastries are looking good and delicious, and the pricing for those seemed in line with what you'd find elsewhere. Public facility is located outside and clearly labeled for women, men and all genders. Parking is limited and shared with other businesses, and it is not free. Street parking is available, but you have to watch the signs and time limits.

Parking is $1 with validation right next to the bakery. Or you can park on the street. Customer service is ok ... The baked good are delicious and fresh always. Sandwiches and salads are flavorful, some seasonal as well. If you are in the area stop by and check this place out you won't be disappointed. ....

Super cute spot for brunch or if you want to grab pastries/coffee. The one bad thing was the parking which they do have a lot next to them but it's paid, of course. We did find free street parking which was nice. The have a ton of both indoor and outdoor seating, shaded and unshaded. The service is fast and efficient. The inside decor is cute but the outside is so stunning and adorable. The restroom is inclusive and the hand washing area is for everyone. They didn't have much pastries left by the time we got there in the early afternoon so we got the pain au chocolat and lemon poppyseed cake and requested both to be warmed up. We also got an iced oatmilk latte and the rosella mint tea. Overall, it was pretty good but we honestly just enjoyed being outside.
We really loved this brunch spot. It's set inside a church, and the outdoor area is very cute and cozy with plenty of seating. We sat under a beautiful tree covered in vines, with dappled shade that made the atmosphere feel extra charming. The smoked salmon tartine was delicious, and the bread was especially good. We really enjoyed our experience and will definitely come back!

They cook so fast, within 5 minutes of ordering. + Soft scrambled eggs w salmon roe on toast $15.50 + $2.50 jammy egg + $4.50 avocado half, really added up but was so pretty, fresh and liked the labneh. Good country bread too (8/10) + Ham and cheese croissant ok, flaky and nice crispy cheese edge but needs more cheese and bit too salty (7.5/10) They messed up my order and were so nice about it, cortado on the house

I got the Banana Cream Tart, Mocha and Morning Bun Latte - the Banana cream tart is totally worth the hype! The tart is very flaky and easy to eat while the banana cream was light, airy and had real banana chunks in it. It looks small in the photo but is a good sized irl. They also had a coconut cream tart whose looked equally irresistible but I had no room for it unfortunately. Their mocha was really good and out of curiosity asked what chocolate they used for it and they mentioned it is the Valrhona dark chocolate. Their morning bun latte was slightly disappointing in the sense that even though it was good, it barely tasted like a morning bun. Their outdoor patio is so pretty!!

One of the best croissants I've ever had was given to me from Tartine. Ever since, I've always wanted to visit myself. Parking here on a Sunday morning is fairly difficult on the street. The valet isn't quite worth it if you're only getting a coffee and pastry - almost feels like an upcharge on a lightly pricy snack / drink. That being said, the almond croissant? Worth every penny! The almond croissant has a generous helping of almonds and features a nice, crispy exterior and light, fluffy interior. My excited nibbles sent them bread shards soaring through the air! I also had an iced latte, and i often don't finish my drink the same hour. Well, I did here! The espresso they added was nutty and dark; the ice made it a little watery but it was tasty nonetheless. To enjoy all the goodness, seating is available indoors (for a more rustic feel) and outdoors (for a more garden feel). Come early, though, not only for parking and fresh bread, but also because there may be a short line! read more

Such a cute and date-worthy spot in Santa Monica. I came here on a Sunday evening to celebrate a friend's birthday. The interior dining options are dim and romantic while the outside offers a cute garden experience-- both are great! My understanding was that Tartine only served pastries or brunch options, but I was wrong! They offer a delicious dinner menu. I recommend the following items: ROASTED BABY CARROTS: you can't go wrong with these crispy carrots! The whipped ricotta and the za'atar sauce spread over them makes the perfect combination! PEPPERONI PIZZA: these are medium size pizzas that come with about six slices. If you're hungry, order two pizzas for two people. If you're not too hungry or if you're ordering other things like salads, etc, then perhaps one pizza will do. Even my friend who is not a fan of pepperoni pizza agreed that this one was absolutely delicious! DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE: oof, chocolate lovers, you're in for a treat! It's like a piece of soft chocolate that will melt in your mouth. Absolutely mouth watering, you won't even want to share. Service was amazing! Both our server and our host, Angel, were kind and helpful. They even brought a slice of cake with a candle to celebrate my friend. There's an entire parking lot available, with a fee, of course, but it's nice to know there's plenty of parking instead of having to drive around the neighborhood trying to find a spot. read more

This was my very first Tartine experience, and as a huge salmon lover, I can confidently say the smoked salmon tartine did not disappoint. The flavors were perfectly balanced with bright citrus, a subtle pickled bite, and the satisfying crunch of the bread all working together. YUM. Truly SO GOOD. Highly recommend. As for the restaurant itself, the vibe is immaculate. It is lively with that cozy café energy and perfect for getting work done inside or just hanging out. There is a great selection of pastries and drinks, and the patio deserves its own shoutout. It is super aesthetic with greenery everywhere. Pro tip, bring a jacket. I would absolutely come back. Wonderful ambience! This is not a full service restaurant. You wait in line ( many times the line is out the front door onto the side walk. This part is a bit stressful. Order and pay at the counter and find a table indoors or outside. Both areas are nice, however inside, the noise level is a wee bit louder, however I haven't had any issues having a conversation with a friend. For those with sensitive ears, just sit outside. One can come here for coffee. Free refills! You can ask for a cup ( their cups are glass), but the coffee doesn't stay warm long. If you plan on sitting there and don't mind a paper cup To Go, order your coffee in a To Go cup. Food: each time I have ordered food to eat there, it arrives promptly and presented beautifully. Their sandwiches are made with their house made bread! Delicious! Try to save room for one of their pastries or desserts. Tartine is an oasis to relax, unwind, catch up with friends, people watch. Tartine is located in what looks like a small converted church, but apparently it used to be a mortuary. The setting and the ambience is quaint and unique with both inside and outside seating. It has a small parking lot on-site, otherwise there is street parking nearby. I had high hopes give all the rave reviews and the long line to get in at 8am when they opened, but was a bit disappointed. I ordered a cappuccino and the omelette with soft herbs and sharp cheddar. Perhaps I should have ordered a bakery/bread item given that's what they're known for. The omelette had no flavor and the cheese definitely didn't taste sharp. Something in the herbs also didn't go with the eggs (perhaps tarragon?). The included salad was overdressed and too vinegary for my taste. The cappuccino came out cold and I asked to have it heated up, and they gladly made a new one for me. Also, the loud music blaring at 8am when trying to have a conversation was annoying. Tartine is something that you just don't pass up when you're in the area... you want fresh bakery goods than this is where you go, you want a great breakfast and some lattes then don't hesitate... The vibe of this place is just very organic and natural. The inside is beautiful and open spaced and they have outdoor seating under shade and in a park like area that just make it peaceful. You will order and pay up front and the hosts will Come out to you. Everyone was amazing and on point with making sure we were good. The front desk was also great with recommendations. The pastry's were just so good and the macha latte I got was on point. We got a breakfast sandwich , eggs bacon and toast and I got a salmon avocado toast that was just perfection. Honestly we can't wait to go back it's was just an amazing place. SIDE NOTE.... be careful where ya park... we did not notice the permit only and their parking lot was full soooo we ended up getting a ticket. Really annoying so that would be the only hindering factor is if you can't find parking. read more

While I was waiting for my sister who was having a quick procedure at UCLA Santa Monica, I needed my essential pick me up...COFFEE! I found his on yelp and it was in walking distance so I headed over. Yes, it may resemble a Church...but in actuality, it was formally a "mortuary!" I was wondering why I could feel the energy of past lives here...but that's a story for another day:). The owners are Elisabeth Prueitt and her husband, renowned baker Chad Robertson. It is a historic landmark in Santa Monica. It is now a full service bakery & restaurant and the line was out the door! It does move fast though... I was in Coffee and Bakery Lover HEAVEN! The interior was beautiful. High ceilings, plenty of tables and the cases were filled with mouth watering items! I was overwhelmed! I had a hard time picking something but I went with a classic scone & my extra hot latte with an add shot, OFC:) It was the perfect combination! The outdoor patio was lovely. I sat there catching up on social media and enjoyed people watching until I got the call my sister was ready to go home. It was so peaceful here and I really enjoyed the landscaping on the patio. Westside location of the popular bakery from SF. I really like the lemon tart here, although the last time I had it, it felt a little old (so perhaps don't order it too early in the morning). The breakfast sandwich is also delicious - I really like the brioche bread paired with the aioli and a fluffy piece of egg. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. It is dog friendly. Free parking in their garage or you can park in a metered spot. Credit cards accepted. read more

Such a nice place to have a relaxing meal! Only finding out Tartine was once a mortuary that didn't stop me and my husband enjoy the food, service, and the church-like restaurant. In fact it was quite intriguing. The Smoked Salmon was delicious bursting with flavor. The Lemon Cream Tart is a must try! Lots of cozy outdoor space to enjoy the sunshine. Outstanding breakfast! My boyfriend and I stopped in for a Saturday brunch and it was surprisingly easy to get seats. I tried the morning bun, the peach hand pie, and the yogurt bowl and took the baguette to go. Delicious all around and totally obsessed with the fresh jam on the yogurt bowl. Food came out quickly, seat yourself, and a valet lot right next to it. read more

My first visit here was 1224 2025. I'm on a recreational personal trip. I came for breakfast around 9 o'clock in the morning. Ambience is pleasant, and there was a waiting line. Most of us would interpret. That is a good sign. Tartine is a well established name in the world of sourdough breads. In this location, they had dine in options, and choices of many different items. Staff was very friendly. Decor is casual. I had the vegetable quiche, and later had a coconut cream tart. There was a side salad with the quiche. I had house coffee. I also ordered a loaf of bread as carryout and I can't comment on it yet because I'm still full from breakfast. The interior of the quiche had a nice flavor and texture. In my opinion, it was slightly over baked crust. I certainly look forward to returning and trying other items on the menu. read more

I was going to be in the area for another experience and figured I'd look up some well rated places for brunch. The exterior of Tartine was quaint so I decided I would give them a shot. Tartine has a lovely covered outside eating area and the interior of the restaurant is quite nice. Outside of that I have to say that my expereince was middling, at best. Tartine is a general counter service restaurant which I do enjoy however for the prices they are charging I would expect a more personal touch to service. When we got to the counter the cashier was polite but outside of our interaction with her there was no real interaction with any of the other employees. Even when our food came the server was brusque and started setting the food down before asking either my friend or myself who ordered which plates. I dont necessarily mind quick and prompt service but there's a difference between efficency in communication and just sloppy serving. I figured at least the $17 Omelette would be qutie good. I was mistaken. I've honestly had a better omelette at Waffle House. The white cheddar completely overpowered all the other flavors in the omelette. There's no real reason to add herbs to an omelette if the cheddar is just going to drown out everything else. Especially since Eggs have a soft flavor themselves it mostly tasted like I was eating just cheese. Additionally, the Omelette was over cooked. I'd wager by at least a minute. There was little moisuture still within the eggs but it was ok. Just not worth $17 at all. To accompany the Omelette the dish came with dressed spring mix lettuce and some bread. The bread was fairly decent and probably the best part of the dish. I also ordered a side of bacon which is 2 slices, cooked perfectly in my opionion. However that did cost almost $5 which, just... why so much? I did not try their pastries but I will say they looked good at least on display. The circumsied ecalir was particularly funny to see. When you see it, you'll understand. Overall, Tartine is a quaint place to enjoy a meal but unfortunately the meal's do not live up to the cost. read more

Tartine is a staple for pastries and decadent baked goods in my household. A bit expensive, but top tier quality, taste, and presentation. They provide seasonal options, so the baked goods selection does change throughout the year, which is always delightful when you walk in. First time customer for lunch today. What an interesting history this building has. A mortuary/Funeral Parlor with a small church inside for over 75 years before becoming Tartine! That explains the unique design and feel to the restaurant. I thought it was great! Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It's quite noisy sitting inside. You wait in line to order your food which is later brought to your table. The baked goodies are all lined up in a case as you stand in line tempting you to buy something. They are beautifully presented. I had the Green Goddess Salad and added grilled chicken and avocado. It was very fresh and tasty. It had a bit too much dressing already added on it. I think it would be better to have dressing served on the side. The price for the salad without the add ons is $18.50. After adding the chicken & avocado my salad was $30.50!!! I think that's a bit expensive for a salad. I also bought a croissant to bring home for my husband and I to try. It was very flaky and fresh. Service was great! Our server was Max and he was the nicest guy. I would definitely return for some coffee or tea drink and a pastry to share with my husband but wasn't blown away by their other lunch or breakfast items on the menu. What is the Parking situation?
There is a parking lot on site, however it's ran by a private third party and not the restaurant. If you choose to use the lot the restaurant does offer validation.

There is a lot you can park it. It is a paid lot but they usually let you park for free if you say you are going to the bakery. There is also street parking but it is usually hard to come by.
