This was the 1st time I stepped into this Home Depot location & actually got greeted & helped from an employee. Shocking! I had a really pleasant experience & was in & out w/ exactly what I was looking for. I did my research before heading in & showed the employee the pic of what I needed. She even walked me to the product. The store itself is huge w/ tons of depts. & products so having someone help saved me from doing my usual routine of wandering around endlessly like I'm on a scavenger hunt. This Home Depot is my hometown store. Essentially it has everything the other stores have, my only criticism is the fact that some items are not the same as other stores nearby. For example, whenever I visit the Fairfield store in the front, outside they normally have grills and other items in the front- but some of the items the Fairfield store has are not the same which are out in the front of the Bridgeport store. The Fairfield store has all types of Weber grills and other high end models but in the Bridgeport store you have the lower models. I wonder why. But essentially for all most hardware, tools and paint needs it is about the same. One thing I will say is the employees at the Bridgeport store seem to be a lot nicer. read more

I can see why this version of the HD only gets 2 stars. Sorry I can't give it that much. I have been here 2 days in a row between 4-6 pm. Both days all human registers are closed and the self checkout is the only way out. I generally have a problem with this as I'm not being paid by these businesses to be a check out clerk. But in this case it is the time of day when people are getting out of work and stop by on the way home. Mistake! There were at least 6 people with the cargo carts with lumber, sheet rock, 4x8 sheets of plywood trying to squeeze into this choke point and check out. One guy watching, and I say watching because he wasn't pointing out an open register or anything. I passed at least 8 employees chatting with each other or better yet watching one person working. Is it too much to ask to keep a couple of registers open? I'm a regular at HD but this is the worst managed store I have ever been to. read more

Lousy store, with useless employees that hide or ignore customers to avoid assisting. Most don't have a clue about what you're looking for or talking about!! They just wander around the store pretending to be busy or congregate in the back of store yapping away with each other like there's no customers present. The only time I shop here is when I'm desperate or absolutely too tired to drive to next town over!!! Good luck! read more

We were driving home from elsewhere in Connecticut, and needed to go pick up some screws and other bits of hardware. This place was right off the highway, so we stopped and checked it out. The parking lot could be in better shape, but the store itself is perfectly acceptable. We had no problems finding the appropriate aisle and getting what we needed, and the checkout process was pretty standard. It's pretty comparable to an experience you'd have at any other Home Depot. read more

I was at the store today.. to begin with the app it stated that there was 36 items available in store. I needed 18 of them, store associate said the didn't have any available. then I proceed to check and receive the worst customer service she wouldn't ring me out because I didn't have my Home Depot card and she didn't want to lookup it. I went to customer service and the lady told me to go upfront and the associate before I got to the register said to me. I'm not taking you; without asking me.. not the first time I get really nasty customer service. I would never come back to this store. read more

The Home Depot, I never find a parking space close to the entrance, but "Hey! What Ever?!" I love coming to THD, walking through the isles looking for what I need, what I want, what I wish for, and what else they got! The closer you get to this stores Receiving area, the dustier it gets.. with brand new smart home products priced at $299.00 completely covered in LAYERS of dust... to the point where washing your hands afterward leaves a ring around the inside of the sink. Terrible service. Did not deliver my order. Was on hold for over 40 minutes before I could speak with someone. Sent my order 5 days later, however incorrect items were sent to me. After being on the phone for an hour and a half, they would be able to rectify my order....but it would take up to two weeks. Two mistakes. Was not compensated for this major inconvenience and error on store's end. Would rather take my business to Tractor Supply, Amazon, or Agway. read more

The staff here is mostly friendly, and never had any problems here. It is quite a typical home depot with a subpar parking lot. The pricing is decent and being about 10mins from my house this is my go to home depot whenever i need some home improvement odds and ends. read more

There is an employee by the name of Larry who works in the Electrical Department. I approached him with a question about an attachment for a power-tool and instead of guiding me to someone who works in that department, he disrespectfully told me it wasn't his department. I'm very disappointed with this store, I told the gentleman I was going to make a review on this and he said he did not care. You don't like your job? Give it to someone who needs it, and will give a better customer experience. *If you're in a hurry for a project, don't waste your time here, instead head to the Fairfield location which will give you a better customer experience. read more

We moved to Bpt. 2 years ago and started going to the Bpt. Home Depot. Now we don't want to go anywhere else! The workers are very friendly and helpful here! They even give you advice on how to do some things! They know us by name now and make us feel welcome, like they are our friends for years!! My $10 bill got stuck in the machine upon using the self-checkout kiosk. When I flagged down a Home Depot sales rep, the young lady told me that I did not insert any money into the device after explaining the issue to her. The young lady then flagged her manager Jerry, who also came to assist. Jerry performed a function on the screen manually and told me the same thing, that I did not insert money into the kiosk. The young lady then grabbed my purchase items, brought them to another kiosk, scanned them, and told me to pay. I refused to pay for the items because I explained the situation to the sales rep and manager, and I wanted my money back. A third person came to assist in physically opening the kiosk and found that my $10 bill was stuck. At this point, I demanded an apology. The manager, Jerry, jokingly gave me an apology. The sales rep who took my items before tried to get me to pay for my items again. I refused the purchase altogether. As a paying customer, I do not appreciate the accusations the sales rep and Jerry put on me. I would not recommend this location to anyone else, and I do not recommend service, especially from the management team, as this was an awful experience. read more

Dude finally comes over and says abruptly that we have 3 ppl ahead of us and that we have to wait. Ok fine but can you NOT act like you're doing me a favor? This is your job. This place is awful. To be clear, I am extremely anti-home depot, or really any Chinese big-box retailer, albeit some are better than others but you know what they say about the lesser of two evils... Anyhoo... This store really sucks. Dirty, nothing in stock that you actually want and nothing in the store matches the online count. The people there are rude and obstinate, and you can forget about finding anyone knowledgable. Now, everyone knows The Home Depot is full of idiots that are more 9-5'ers rather than skillful or atleast knowledgable in their field, but this particular store is FILLED with the former. I'm not even sure they screen their applicants before hiring them. They ARE however EXTREMELY self-righteous and will seemingly defend the policies of the store 'till death which I guess is what the manager of the place might want, but is certainly not what customers want. When a cashier won't allow you to buy something because you're $0.07 short, but another might try to pocket your change on your way out and play stupid when you ask about it, or returns needs to inspect every square centimeter of your item and make you wait while they call over managers and then deny the return saying "it looks older than how long you've had it", or " it looks used", I don't know about you but this particular level of "customer service" leaves little to be desired. There's almost a Home Depot in every surrounding town where I am, I have decided to go to ANY of them, even a few towns over if necessary, to avoid this one, and you should too. I used to use this store frequently. Now I will not enter it for any reason. The manager seems to be a magnet for hiring rude young black men. I suppose he is trying to give these kids a chance, but it is not working. Better screening and avoiding hiring them in groups that just goof off would be better. Details: Typically, I can expect zero help finding anything from anyone in this store. No one will walk me to an item. The black employees simply don't know where anything is, and turn to someone else. Only the white people will help me load my car with lumber, and they are rare. The final straw is this new trend, where young black boys try to startle white people. For example: they will sneak up behind you while you are studying some merchandise and clearly not looking for help, and yell in your ear, "Can I help you?" And then run off. Once I saw nearly a dozen young boys in the parking lot, sent to round up carts. I was trying to attract their attention for some help loading lumber. The nearest guy did a 180 and went the other way, ignoring my call for help. This is typical when I need help loading something big. The rest, a group of six or more were standing around talking about fighting! I wasn't going to approach them. I was good and mad. I've complained to management a number of times, and often find these individuals are fired or gone. But then they are replaced with new ones that are as bad. I finally gave up on this store and switched to Fairfield. That too is going downhill with sullen employees, and slow service because of the crowds. I now drive to Trumbull, which has less customers and the manager has made an effort to collect the best possible employees, and they are always helpful, not matter what their race. I also use the Stratford store which is above average in service a bit more crowded and has helpful employees. I find it unfortunate that Home Depot cannot maintain good service standards across all their stores. I recommend you drive to Trumbull, to get better service and to avoid the sullen, rude, and nasty black employees found in Bridgeport. I really wish the managers would pay more attention to their newest employees, provide better training, and perhaps send people around the store, pretending to be a customer to evaluate these people and either counsel, or get rid of them. I hope you wont take this as a racist rant. I served in the military and treated everyone the same. I want the same in return. I don't like being spooked by people sneaking up behind me. Went in a week or so ago looking for a pallet of cinder blocks. They weigh a few thousand lbs so I needed help loading them into the back of my truck. I found them outside in the garden area. The first home depot person that I saw was a short woman (maybe Melissa?) who told me that she was the garden manager and that she would send someone out to help me. She walked away. After waiting there for at least 15 minutes, I started walking around trying to find help again. I ran into the original woman again who told me that she was busy and "You will get your blocks when you get them!" and walked away. Needless to say it was a short drive to the Stratford depot who helped me right away. Whatever you do, find another place to buy your stuff! read more

This Home Depot is the closest one to my new house - unfortunately it also has about the worst staff of any in Fairfield County and the parking lot was laid out by someone with no idea how a pickup or van steers - Check out staff is generally pretty good so if you know what you want and can load yourself go get it - otherwise if you will need help or assistance go to a different store - Pricing and selection are pretty much standard across all the HD's - Moved here this Fall so haven't yet seen how their spring nursery dept is run which is one way I find the stores do vary considerably within the chain read more
