A decade since my First To Review in 2013 and I'm back to update. I needed some things to work on the Sprinter van and this time, I'm in the limber department. I picked out the pieces and found an orange apron, asking him to cut them as I needed. For the first time, he said that he couldn't cut it long ways. Odd, but okay. So I pivoted and found a piece that would work. The store is tidily laid out and has just about everything you could possibly need for your home improvement project from lights to tiles to power tools. There is a ton of lumber (check it carefully - it is sometimes stored outside and gets rained on), hardware, kitchen appliances and toilets. If you have the skills, they have the stuff you can turn loose on your house. Or for me, van. If you can do your shopping at a more local hardware store like Blackhawk Hardware, please do. But today I'm in Steele Creek and this was convenient or I would have gone there. The new lumber I needed ended up working out well, possibly even better than what I had originally planned. Home Depot, you missed a sale because of your sub- standard delivery process. Our refrigerator broke and we had a freezer full of food. We needed a new one immediately. We visited your Rivergate store and asked when could we have a new one delivered. We were told it would take 4 days!! We didn't look at any refrigerators and immediately left the store. We went up the street to Lowe's Home Improvement. They advertised next day delivery!! We happily purchased our refrigerator from them and it was delivered less than 24 hours after we purchased it. Food didn't go bad and we are happy customers. Seems like to me, Home Depot needs to hire more Process Improvement Engineers!! Hey, I might know of an excellent engineer! read more

I'm giving a 4 because this is better than your average Home Depot. Selection like any HD is massive and you can get even more inventory delivered to the store. Prices for most items are not the cheapest but certain items are actually quite solid for example Round Up while others are gauging like shelf liners. They are always well stocked and never have been out of the item I needed. Most departments (most) I was able to get good help quickly often just from a friendly associate walking by (not the case in places like NY, NJ, CA, south Florida or even Georgia). Cons: One area that we got no help ever was blinds / curtains, etc. the back left side of the store can be a ghost town of employees but everywhere else I always found one easily. selection of connectors for washers, dryers, etc was pretty limited. read more

Often Staff not helpful and don't know where things are. I end up having to find staff and see them standing around talking. Some staff even have an attitude I found. I guess the managers there do nothing about the attitudes and lack of help to the public. read more

As a contractor in the charlotte area, I've used many lumber yards, both local and big chain, in the area over the past 20 years. The Steel Creek Home Depot has put me in a horrible situation with my current lumber order and would not recommend dealing with them in any way unless you are picking up stock items. I placed a lumber order on Friday and was told it would be delivered on Monday. They didn't deliver Monday and told me it would be delivered on Wednesday. On Wednesday, they only delivered my lumber for the roof system and not the floor system. I was told they couldn't fit my entire order on the truck because there were other orders on the truck. So instead of bumping someone off the truck, they chose my order...even though they already put me off for 3 days. Doesn't make sense to me. Then they told me the rest of my order would be delivered on Friday. After complaining, they called me back and guaranteed me that it would be delivered next day on Thursday. I could have cancelled the order at that tome and had the local Lowe's store deliver it Thursday as well, but against my better judgement, I took Home Depot's word and let them try again. Well, here we are Thursday and I get another notification that the order couldn't be delivered. Called and they told me the delivery guy forgot to load my order and it would be Monday when I get the rest of my lumber. That's in 4 days! I ended up cancelling the remaining order and placed it with Another limber yard and they claim it will be delivered tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. I will be 5 days behind schedule...that's profit lost, employees not working, and home owners are not happy to say the least. After all the managers and supervisors I spoke to, none of them were able to get this under control and fulfill my order. Needless to say, I'm very frustrated and definitely do it recommend dealing with Home Depot for deliveries or special orders. They have always shown to be a logistical nightmare! Use local lumber yards here in Charlotte where they have higher quality material and receive better service. I'm my experience, they accept accountability more often since they can't hide behind corporate money. Home Depot clearly didn't care about my situation enough to correct it and keep my business and that makes it hard to operate a construction company. read more

I just feel that a lot of the employees at the store don't really try to help you when you need to help. I was looking for a particular item which on the website /app showed that they had in stock. When I approach the counter and asked the guy he didn't even try to make an effort to either look for it or nor did he even look in there system . The response that I got was it's on the truck and that they won't unload the truck until tonight. But I noticed that after he made that comment it showed that they had three and then later on that day they only had two. So my thought behind it was how was it on a truck and you're only telling certain customers that they can't have it but only giving it to other customers that they probably know. I just think it's very shady how their customer service staff is doing their job by holding out on products in only letting certain people buy them. read more

Bought a shower door here this morning. Got 95% through the install when I noticed one of the 4 screw heads holding the doors frame had been snapped off from the factory. Called up the store to see if I could just return the door itself since I'd already installed the threshold and wall tracks. Jamaris had the door waiting at customer service for me on my arrival. Made very negative experience with the department for blinds. Wasted 45 min to get my measurements into the system just to get a call after I left, that they cannot help me ... went to Lowe's afterwards and got customized blinds cut in the store for 1/3 of the costs at Home Depot. Was several times in the paint department. While the personal is knowledgeable it doesn't display any customer orientation, friendliness. Will avoid this location going forward. read more

The store is actually very nice and staff helpful. This is a Home Depot issue. Ordered a new fridge and paid several thousand dollars. Spent the day waiting for delivery and it arrived damaged. I refused delivery and called to get a refund. Was told it would go back back into my account. That never happened. Called again and told same again. Never happened. Called again and told to go to the store as that was only way to get my credit refund. New news to me. Went to the store and was told I had to go to appliance then back to the front to get the refund. Did all that but took 30 minutes waiting in line 3xs. Anyways - this entire process took more than two months to resolve. I will never buy a big item from Home Depot again after this. read more

We really like this Home Depot. Of course it helps that we live very close, but it seems like this one has a better selection of items over some other Home Depot's in the area. This is also closer for us than Lowes. What we love: *close to home *dog friendly - our dog loves going to HD, he drags his feet when we try to pull him away from the registers (some of the staff keep treats on hand) *great return policy on plants - we have taken advantage of this twice. One year we planted azaleas, and before the year limit was up, they had not made it so we returned for more azaleas. Last month we bought daisies and all died within 2 weeks, besides one. Just returned them all this weekend to exchange for different flowers. *turned into our place for our home needs - stuff for repairs, plants, backsplash for kitchen, etc. Thanks HD, keep it up! read more

HEALTH HAZZARD - DO NOT PURCHASE Dreamcatcher carpeting or trust this store . In October I purchased carpeting for my stairs from the Rivergate store in Steele Creek in NC I originally had a carpet called willow picked but changed it to dolphin dreamcatcher because it seemed like it was better quality. I have been going back and forth to this store for a few weeks to get our order correct and not once were we told that the carpet would be too thin for the stairs. Only thing that was said was that it is contractor grade, We completed the order and carpet was installed on Oct 26th. On the 28th i was going up and down barefoot and got hurt 4 times on one trip up. I called Romanoff renovations the installers and they came out on Friday the 30th. The reply i got from installer was that the carpet was too thin and what I was feeling were carpet tack strips and there was nothing they can do about it, I was really surprised that Home Depot would sell a carpet that could be hazardous to their customers including our pets. Why wouldn't they brinf this to our attention during purchase or at the most when it was being installed by Romanoff renovations.. no one said anything. Whenever I go to any of these stores I rely on the employees recommendation's since they are selling the product. I know nothing about carpets that's why I went there. This was reported to store and the store manager said there was nothing that can be done to remedy this situation because there is nothing wrong with the carpet and the install was done correctly. So.i am stuck with defective carpeting. I have dogs in the house that can get hurt .. this is a health hazard that should never have gotten to this point. I was given advise on the LVP but never on the carpet ..why would home Depot sell a product that would be too thin and cause this issue.. if it happened on my steps how does it not happen in rooms? Did they use the wrong padding ? Why wasnt it glued instead. Why do they have false advertising on the website staying it is compatible with stairs if it's not I never expected Home Depot not to help resolve the issue always had positive experiences before, carpeting was under 500 but to me that is a lot of money I just wasted . I waited 10 years to finally change the carpeting and now I have a Hazzard in my home Seriously who in their right mind would buy something that would hurt you or your loved ones. read more

On my way to Petsmart I decided to swing by Home Depot to purchases Stepping Stones for my wedding. I wasn't sure if they were Pet-Friendly, most businesses are not. I googled to see and the answer was yes. I have a 62lbs German Sheppard, he's 7 months old--Super adorable, see my photos! I placed him into a shopping cart and grabbed 5 stepping stones---Which are heavy of course! i'd like to think I made the smart choice of not letting my pet roam around the store. That would've been a disaster. I'll probably NEVER shop at Lowes! The staff at Home Depot are so helpful! This store is very clean, and the signage makes it easy to navigate. read more

Yesterday I had a MUCH better at the Home Depot Rivergate shopping for a Christmas Tree. After leaving the Pineville location at 8:15 pm, I had 20 minutes to make it to Rivergate before they closed. Thankfully I arrived just in time and was assisted immediately. I pulled up, and the guys greeted me and pointed me in the direction of the trees. They had a vast assortment of Christmas Trees and a lot of size options. This year Home Depot went up on their tree prices, but this was ok because the service I was receiving was much better than what I received at the Pineville location. I went inside to purchase my Christmas tree, and when I came back out the guys already had it packed and placed on the top of my car. They even put the protector tarp on the top of my car to protect it. Once they finished, they also provided me with my tree trunk. Overall I had a great experience at The Home Depot Rivergate. read more

After declaring that I can do all kind of things by myself. This is the place I seem to think I can make all my DIY dreams come true. Well of course there's some hits and misses.. First person: Tom H: whose works in the Garden. I came in somewhere in Feb desperately need a home kit. So Tom came to the rescue even though he's suppose to be in the plants. He showed me the cordless drill. With extra battery pack. A set of flat head and star screws. A few other sets, a pack of nuts with screws and a varieties pack of nails and hangers. This is now June and I have used every bit of it.. I'm not an expert. All of my shelves are somewhat crooked. But I know I have all the tools I need to get the job done. I couldn't have done it w/o Tom. And he was patient with me. Customer service was on point! 2nd person: Bob from aisle 14 I was on a air mattress for 3 months. I can't make up my mind til today. Took me 15mins to buy a mattress online. But I realized I have no bolts and screws for my headboard. Bob was patient and a funny guy.. his jokes helped me, not stressed out so much because they're delivering the bed tomorrow. Ppl like me who are clueless but have these staffs at Home Depot to help us with our "so-called" big DIY dream(s) come true. With their patient and knowledge. They can help us achieve our goal. I went to look for some N95 mask for my HongKong friends who are facing terrible historic threat of coronavirus from China. Because the Hkg government send all those stock to China ignoring the life in HKG. Been to several Home Depot stores to find empty shelves. Then to this one, I saw an American lady took all from the shelves. Obviously she might bought it for resales to make profits as she stared at me. A store keeper came up to ask me, I said I just need some to save my friends oversea. She seemed to know my intention. She told me to wait and she found me the last 2 in stock. I have been trying for weeks to apply for corporate jobs. I do not recall my password. when clicking on the forgot password link, I never get an email to reset pw. When I try to create a new account, I am not allowed because the system recognizes my email address. I finally got an HR person on the phone and her recommended solution was to go and create an entirely new email account that I will not monitor to only submit my applications to Home Depot. This is NOT acceptable. Technology should be able to unblock or delete my existing profile so that I can create a new profile with my existing email. Way to miss out on good talent. I can't be the only one this has happened to. read more

I have been in many Home Depot's in many states on many occasions but this one is closest to my house, about equal distance from Lowes and depending on what I need, I find myself at Home Depot more. On this particular day I was in the garden section as I am re-doing my yard and needed some plants and paving stones. I moved about the store as quickly as possible selecting affordable items that had the right look and price for my project. When I was done I went to the outdoor register to pay. I find it odd that on most visits to this store in particular around the busy lunch time area that there is often only the one cashier. Sometime there are two but not enough of the time. This time there was Sage. As I approach the register, Sage picked up here register gun so I would not have to lift and move all of my heavy items. She rang me up and I was soon on my way. I'm no stranger to Home Depots and the one in Rivergate is way too far away from my house, but I was in need of some paint stirrers for a project and happened to be in the area to pick some up. The guy in the paint department was super nice and made sure I had everything else for my project: paint can openers, brushes, trays, etc. I really just needed the stirrer, but had everything else. This is a larger location that I am used to seeing and it is configured a little differently than I am used to, but there is no shortage of people available to help you on your projects or just to let you know where stuff in the store is. read more

This location of employee's hates to be helpful and do their jobs. No one wanted to help us..we had 2 items to purchase, knew exactly what we wanted and where it was...no one around. Asked the paint guy to help us, he gave us a hard time about calling someone but finally called. Waited and waited no one came. Saw a guy coming towards us and asked for help, He started to tell us all the reasons why he could not help us, then we explained to him all we wanted was some thing unlocked because it required little to no "real help" he finally agreed to help us...WTH Secondly we wanted some lumber cut finally a woman walks by in the lumber department and she tells us that the person that cuts the lumber won't be there until 11am. We finally had enough and just went down the street to Lowe's! Wow!! So sorry to inconvenience people in customer service to actually help us!! The personnel we encountered here on two occasions are not very knowledgeable like the personnel at Lowe's as to where items are. You get excuses such as the person for a particular department is not on duty for the day. We've never encountered such excuses at Lowe's. read more

Don't waste your time coming here for any fastener hardware unless you are looking for the absolute most garden variety screws, nuts, and bolts. For being close to Lake Wylie their stainless steel and metric selection is especially abysmal. You'll end up going to Lowe's or Black Hawk Hardware regardless, so save the trip. read more

Placed a special order and was told order will be in by Wednesday or Thursday and I would get a phone call and email. 4 days after delivery date I called to find out when order would be in. I was told order have been in for 5 days waiting for pick up. Go to pick up order & had to wait for them to find order. Once found boards were warped from NOT being on a flat bed. I can go on and on but I already gave Home Depot to much of my time. DONT DO BUSINESS HERE! Take your business to Lowes or try a different Home Depot. read more

My husband is always at Home Depot. He is a "home improvement" kind of guy. When we visit places, he always asks if we can stop and check out their Home Depot's. I don't blame him. Every location is different and some sell different types of things. Each has a slight variation. My husband did manage to find some things to get. We also got some really sweet Halloween decorations. The inflatables are killer this year! This location to my surprise was super clean and well organized. The staff was friendly and attentive. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the bathrooms were a mess! I couldn't even use the restrooms because they were that bad. I feel for the employees because some people just don't give a crap when they go into an establishment. If everyone would clean up after themselves, that would do wonders. Keep up the good work you guys. I am really fond of this location. read more

Just realized that we needed to replace all six smoke detectors in our house. Found the item on homedepot.com and it said 11 were in stock. The new model we found, actually had better features than our current model ( combo smoke and CO detector with voice). We went to the store and found the six and went to the register. My wife reminded me to check Amazon and see if Home Depot would price match. I found the item online sold and shipped by Amazon for a cheaper price. The employee at the cash register did not know what the price match policy was. We then walked all the way back to customer service desk. We showed the ad on my phone with the specific model number and price to that employee and he said " I have to find it, sometimes they do it" He found the exact same price on his computer. Instead of completing the transaction for us, he said let me call someone. He called someone, confirmed it was sold and shipped by Amazon, then the person on phone said they could not do it. What a wasted trip! I ended up going online last night and ordered the six detectors with same day delivery from Amazon. Also here is the text from their price match policy on the website for home Depot: "How the Low Price Guarantee works for in-store purchases: If you find a current lower price on an identical, in-stock item from any retailer, we will match the price and beat it by 10%. Just bring the ad, printout or photo with you to the register for validation. (This may involve the associate contacting the competitor)." This store needs to train people on their own started policy and follow through. read more

It's a pretty decent location, but when I go in there, it seems to be a lot of people standing around. Most of the time, the workers walk past you with greeting you or offering assistance, and for some reason, their curbside service takes longer than a full work day to pick the orders. In my most recent case, I went in to check the order because no one answers the phone there. When I walked out of the store, the same lady was complaining loudly about me inquiring about the order to another associate. Super unprofessional. read more

I live 5 mins away and unfortunately it is the only Home Depot Close to me! I was in and out in 20 mins. I needed 10 bags of mulch and four 16x16 stones. I entered the nursery which is outside in the back. Two older ladies there on each register and no one said hello to me, either time I walked by. I went into see what I needed and if they had it before I went to get a flat cart. No one asked if I needed help, when I was lifting everything by myself, which I was perfectly fine with. No one smiled no one said anything to me, other then here is your Receipt. I proceeded to my bronco to unload to reload. I would rather spend my money somewhere else. While I was in the store a older gentleman asked me for help and I told him I did not work there. He knew that, tho thought I might know anyways. I gave him my opinion on were that particular item might be. I told him to ask the ladies at the registers by the doors to make sure. He did and as I was leaving he said you were correct, thank you and have a good day. Now that is customer to customer not even ANYBODY in your store, very sad!! I think I will find another Home Depot and word-of-mouth spreads fast. I would work on your customer service!! read more

Prior to today I was all about Lowe's. All my friends told me plenty of times I needed to start coming to this Home Depot instead. Recently I was not getting good service at Lowe's and I finally decided to come to Home Depot instead. What a world of difference!!!! The people that work there are happy and want to help you! They make sure that you are taken care of! They go above and beyond. As of today I am 100% a Home Depot customer! read more

The store is always clean and they have people there that have always been very helpful. I go to this store a lot and I do a lot of my home improvement myself. This store is great, but the only complaint that I have and I know I am now in the minority, I have noticed more and more people are bringing their dogs to the store. This, to me could be a problem. I expect to see pets at pet stores, but do not understand bringing your pets in stores where it is so many things going on. I am not sure about the rules at home improvement stores and this may be legally acceptable, but it just don't seem like the smart thing to do.
