Home Depot in Covington needs to have a better customer service. I have been charged for completely wrong items that cost me extra $64.90. I bought 18 rebars of 2 feet (0.61 m) each, but I have been charged for 18 rebars of 20 feet (ca. 6 m) each. When I found this mistake it was finally fixed, but neither the cashier who made a mistake, nor her manager said 'sorry to me'. read more

Yikes, our delivery was supposed to be Jan 27th 2020, but apparently the delivery service changed the date to Jan 28th without any notification. My contractor is here without materials to work with. Don't force your customers go through the trouble of creating an online account to reserve a rental tool (that shows available) only to immediately cancel the order and refund the deposit due to non-availability. In addition, they will show delivery avaiable until you're ready to checkout (which also requires online account) only to then extend delivery out 1-2 wks during checkout. Very poor service that makes you think something is avaiable when it isn't. read more

Saw that a step stool was on sale. Went in to the store, but found out the deal was only on line. Went home and tried to order, but sine the item was less that $45, I had to pay a shipping cost that would have brought the total up to more than if I paid full price. Have a problem with products or services with a third party vendor through home depot? Don't worry because they will make it your problem! Have been constantly battling to get some follow-up on doors that were ordered through home depot. They took longer than stated initially to arrive which was fine since the doors arrived damaged and had to be re-ordered. We ordered these doors to be mortise and have the handles drilled thinking that we would get a nearly complete door that would only need to be shaved to fit uneven frames. We first received the doors with the wrong color hinges and a completely random assortment of all colors of screws. This was the first red flag that maybe the quality control from the third party vendor was not the best. It took nearly 3 months to get the right hinges and once received they are completely scratched due to being thrown loosely in a cardboard box with screws floating in it. A workaround was initially given by home depot to grab contractor packs off the shelf but we discovered many bent pins and many of the pins were rusted/corroded. We were eventually able to cobble together enough hinges spending our own money to remedy the issue. The doors then entered the paint phase. On 3 out of the 6 doors the prime job was so bad you could barely tell they were fake wood textured. They had bumps and splatters all over and took an hour a piece to sand and clean out the clumps. Even after cleaning there was a slight fiber texture on several of the doors that couldn't be cleaned. Next was the problem with hanging the doors. Recognizing that door frames are generally warped and doors have to be modified we were ready to do some sanding. We were not however ready for the hinges to be off by over a 16th. Upon test hanging the doors we found that on most of the doors there was one hinge off a bit and the others were either perfect or off the opposite direction from our measurements. Many times the hinges were not even straight. We voiced our concerns to both the store and customer service from home depot who pushed back several times and finally gave us a refund on a single door. Considering the cost of the drilling/mortise work initially approaching 200 dollars and the fact that we would have to pay someone to re-do it this was a slap in the face. It was then we were told by customer service that it was their policy to offer only a full refund on return or nothing else. After spending hours sanding and painting this was not an option. Now we are approaching an extra 200+ dollars for this set of doors in order to fix what home depot did. To add to all this we also ordered a pantry door that could only be ordered pre-hung. Upon pulling apart the packaging and hanging the door we found that the reveal was nearly a half inch on the lockset side. We ended up having to pull apart the frame and cut back the reveal. Another great quality purchase! This whole ordeal has actually helped us in a way. It makes it much easier to check on prices for different products and ordering gear for our renovations due to not having to bother checking prices at home depot. Don't feel secure in ordering through them as they will happily protect their third parties from miniscule costs in order to screw over a customer. read more

We spend a lot of cash on home improvement items on a regular basis. Johnson's in Maple Valley will be getting our money from now on. The lack of available help in this Home Depot store is unbelievable. Our cashier called for loading assistance at least 4 times, no one ever showed up at all. We watched several strong young men working nearby unloading tiny flowers in garden area, they looked up to loudspeaker when assistance was asked for and ignored us. Perhaps they were not allowed to help? What would have happened if they DID choose to HELP lift a simple 60 pound item for a few seconds??? read more

Inaccurate (as in false information), slow and dismissive -- Extremely poor customer service. \ When we bought a refrigerator from them, we were told that, for an extra $20, they would remove our old, built-in refrigerator (although we had to pay someone else to uninstall it first). But when the new one arrived, we were told that they could not remove the refrigerator that we now had standing in the middle of our kitchen. When we went to the store to (1) Get our $20 back and (2) Ask for a referral for a removal service, instead of apologizing for giving us false information and for the resulting inconvenience, they told us to "google it". read more

I would have given the tool rental department a single star rating because the tool I rented worked for 30 seconds then died and I had to go back to the store to get a new one. But then I got GREAT help from Kyle which bumped my rating to a 5. There are a bunch of people working there but none handle pressure of a sunny spring day too well. Kyle did a great job!! We purchased vinyl plank flooring for an entire floor of our house. We also paid for installation costs for the flooring and reinstallation of our previous moulding. Home Depot suggested reinstalling our old moulding, which their contractors did. We paid the full quote given by Home Depot after they sent someone to measure. Unfortunately, the moulding looks terrible, with nails sticking out all over, huge gaps both between piees of moulding and the wall/moulding itself, isn't high enough, & they aren't willing to compromise. I have been shopping at this location since it opened. After tonight I will never shop here again. I walked in the door with $2000, ready to purchase a new patio door with installation. No staff was to be found so I walked up front to ask if someone could help me in doors. The employee said, "What are you wanting to do back there?" I said, "I want to order a door." She replied, "Well, people want to do different things back there." I went back to wait for help to arrive. 15 minutes later, Kim showed up. She said she would be "winging it" & we were just happy to get help. There was a lot of confusion because she thought we were ordering a custom size and someone would have to come out for $30 or $50 (she wasn't sure how much) to measure and that was the only way that they would do the installation. I asked why when we have a standard door and have the measurements. She said this is just how it is so we said okay. She told us it would be 6 - 10 weeks before a door was available. I asked again about buying a door from their stock and then just paying for installation. She was surprised and said she thought we wanted a custom door. We again said no, just a standard door with installation. She started entering information in the computer and said we would need to schedule an appointment with a consultant to discuss this. It became evident that we weren't going to be able to spend the money here. We told her we needed to leave in time to get to Loew's (Auburn) to order our door from them. As we were heading out I decided to double check with the manager. As we were waiting for Mike, we witnessed Kim talking to him. When he came over to us he was immediately dismissive. He had a customer waiting in flooring. I understood but said i had just a single question. I was going to ask if we had to have someone come out to measure before we could buy the door and schedule. He refused to let me ask and walked away with Kim. We left, went to Loew's and had an amazing conversation with KC, who shared her own story about bad service at Home Depot. I am now only a customer of Loew's after years of shopping at Home Depot in Covington. Save yourself the time and the money. Loew's was less expensive also. read more

Worst experience ever. My husband and bought a power tool which broke less then 2 months after. We took it into the store for a repair under warranty and they said it would take 2 weeks. Even after I physically talked to the Assistant Mgr face to face, and he promised to review my situation and call....NO CALL! Only 1 subcontractor to choose from and because of that the service IS TERRIBLE!!! And to top it off I find out my tile job in the kitchen is the 1st job for this company in 7 years and they totally botched it!! And left a mess for me to clean up! read more

Carpet. A relatively simple item to order. You tell them what size, they take your money. You would think that was easy. Two (2) part quick story. Part 1. Ordered carpet 12ft x 14 ft or in home depot terms 18.67 sq yards. I even rounded up to 20 sq yards so I have extra slack to play with. There are 2 carpet sizes when ordering 12ft and 15ft. The lady orders the wrong carpet size 15 ft wide. Guess what, my carpet is now to short. I remember confirming with her that it was 12 ft and she said "I think so?" I decided I would use it for a smaller room and "Deal" with the problem and only be out a 100.00 in extra cost of carpet, your welcome Home Depot. Part 2. Went in today to order more carpet stood there for 10 minutes patiently while a lady was on the phone talking to a carpet/measurement company about rescheduling an install date. She also asks if I need a measurement, I said no I am installing myself, just need to order carpet Side note - same lady that ordered my carpet the first time. Another lady was on her personal cell phone or maybe business phone doing her best to text something. No acknowledgement from her. Lady on the phone yells over to someone to help me, 5 minutes later a lady comes to say hi, what did you need, I said I would like to order carpet, she said do you need a measurement, I said no, she said she needed to help these 2 ladies really quick. I sat down in a chair now. Sat for 5-10 minutes, lady on the phone covers the mouthpiece of the phone and asks if I need a measurement for the 2nd time. I decide that its time to leave, because of the lack of common courtesy. I am here many times per week for random things, I will now start going to Johnsons in Maple Valley or drive to McClendons. read more

Unbelievable. I am a Veteran, and I bought a Toro 22" Smart Stow Lawn Mower. Mowed my lawn twice with it, and because I have a bad back from a car accident I needed to return and exchange it for a second different one for two reasons. Bought on May 27, 2016. Went in today July 1, 2016. 34 day sago, receipt says 90 days on it. 1) The handle is too low, and CANNOT be adjusted. I'm 6'0" Tall and I can't bend over to mow with this thing. Worst Bag Mower ever. I cam form a John Deere, (they don't make push anymore), and on the Toro, as you remove the bag there are places the grass goes that every time you change the bag, about 3 handfuls of grass end up on the ground. Terrible design. So I bought this on May 27th, and due to my work schedule, could not return it until today. They tried to tell me it was only a 30 day return even though receipt said 90 printed on it. They send over a lowly incapable of making a decision to satisfy a customer Assistant Manager named Taely Loynd, who said no, no, and no again, could care less. Obviously doesn't care about logic. I pointed out receipt that said 90 days she says receipt also says they can refuse to return anything. I asked for the Store Managers name, she says it's on the receipt, and he's not here. I ask for the store manager's boss, a district manager phone number, she says call 1800homedepot. The most rude non compromising customer service ever. I now have the store manager;s name, Marquis Windham and his email address, which is marquis_o_windham@homedpot.com. If they do NOT agree to refund me, I guess I'll call my attorney and let her deal with them. read more

Ordered a dishwasher, promised free delivery in 2 weeks and paid $25 for old appliance pickup. The day of the delivery, Home Depot gave the delivery driver the wrong address. They won't deliver or pickup old appliance. I have to wait until up to 9pm to go pick it up at the store myself, whenever they call, if they call. They won't take the old one either but kept my $25. Called Cynthia in appliances, she cut me off mid-sentence, told me that's all she could do. Essentially too bad for you. Customer Service here is a zero. Never again! Like others have posted, it's become harder and harder to find decent help... Was ready to spend $300 on an air compressor kit but was having trouble finding staple for the staple gun. An employee walked by, I asked for some help in finding them, was told it wasn't his department and he walked away without offering to find someone else to assist.... Upon calling to speak with someone in their accounting department...I'm with one of their commercial clients. I was placed on hold, transferred multiple times, could hear them paging for accounting while on hold, and after twenty minutes, I was disconnected. When I called back two hours later, I explained what happened prior. She just answered "well, she might not even be in" and placed me on hold. No apologies, no "let me see what I can do to help"...nothing. The store manager didn't even know who to direct me to so that I could receive assistance. These employees could certainly use some strong customer service training. read more

One would think a Home Depot is a Home Depot. Apparently not. I can't count the times I've looked for a specific item here that I'm later told is at the Kent location. If you're in Maple Valley and are looking for actual hardware items, the Johnson's Do-It center at 4-Corners is a much better option. If you're in Kent, try their other store, or better yet go to McLendons. An example: I needed 2.5" #10 pan-head screws for some cabinets, and Home Depot had them in packages of 4 for something like $2/ea. Johnson's up the street had boxes (qty 200?) for a fraction of the price. read more

WOW! The service has certainly gone down hill. The staff USED TO BE helpful, say Hi, and offer assistance. Today I asked a pair of staff members (guy & girl) that were sitting around talking (flirting) to each other in the lumber department and asked for assistance if finding something. Mind you I had 2 kids with me. They flat out said "no". I was flabbergasted. Obviously taking to each other was more important than doing their f'ing job. Extremely insulting as they gave me the cold shoulder. Then on top of it all. When I get to the checkout, I say "hi, how's it going" to the cashier. He doesn't even respond!!!! I repeat...Doesn't say a freakin word to me - seriously?! Home Depot - get it together!!! People want to go where they're celebrated not tolerated. Purchased an LG washer on 3/1/19. It was delivered & installed by Valentine on 3/8/19, he ran a partial test w/out any clothes & it seemed fine. The next day I ran a load & the darn thing started squeaking during the wash, rinse & spin cycles, I also ran a second batch to make sure I didn't overload the washer, same thing happened. So I called Home Depot & was told not to use it, someone would contact me. I called back the next day after not receiving a call and was told that Express Home Services would come to my house on 3/14. Received an email on 3/13 which I thought was to confirm my appt the next day but the date said 3/19 so I called to find out what was going on & was told Express Home Services cancelled my appt...WTH, now a certified LG repair person would come to take a look. Well, Dave came on 3/19 & said we had 2 defective parts & would get back to us on the ETA of the parts...no call from Dave. Called LG directly to find out the status, 1 part was ordered, the other part was on back order until possibly June 4...WTF. Now tell me do you think anyone at Home Depot or Express Home Services or Dave or LG could go until June without a washer? So on 3/22/19, Lynn in Executive Services at LG agreed to put in a request for a replacement washer, no it's not a guarantee that I'll get one but I would have to wait 3-5 business days to find out. Do you think Lynn could go until June w/out a washer? Called LG again today (I'll keep calling every day until I get my washer), yup the request is in. Called Home Depot on the off chance that they'll take the washer back but was told to contact the vendor because my 48 hour window to return it had expired even tho they told me not to use it in the first place. Dangerous place to shop! My 15 year old and myself were verbally attacked in this store on August 2, 2015 and then physically chased by one of their customers, and his car with apparent mental health issues. Though the entire event was covered by their video, the store manager was sarcastic and rude, to say the least. It appeared that the the entire event to be a joke and provided no help to us after the fact. "So what do you want me to do, arrest them" the store manager said. No I wanted a no trespass letter of sorts sent to the person. Maybe call the police? Not our problem. Not going to happen, as it was explained to me, your on your own. I need to go to a store that has concerns for its customers safety. Just be careful if you go here and never let your wife or children go alone. Email I sent to HD HQ Customer Service, based on my opinion on how I was treated: Today I went to the Home Depot Store located in Covington Washington to get locks for a new rental property I just purchased. I asked the older gentleman in the lock aisle where I could get the Kwikset keys for re-keying the Kwikset Smarkey locks. His response was a very condescending, "There's instructions in the box". I repeated that I understood that I just needed to know where to get keys to re-key with when the time came that I had a vacancy and I needed to change the key myself. He just retorted, "It's the simplest thing" again in a very clearly condescending tone, implying that I'm somehow an idiot or something. Then later, the Assistant Manager, refused to do anything about it, defending him in fact, claiming that I was lying. She just rolled her eyes at me and smirked, when I own a few rental properties and that I spend a lot of money at their store for maintenance items and certainly don't pay to be treated like this. Clearly seeing that the Assistant Manager is where the employee got his attitude from, I went to the customer service desk to get the store managers card. Then when standing in line to get the store managers business card, the same offender in question walked by and very deliberately stared me down for a good 15-20 seconds as he walked by. I left the $300+ dollars of merchandise in my cart and left, just returning from your competitors with my purchases instead. I'll be sure to post about my personal experience online. I'll be sure to take my business to your competitors from now on, as you clearly don't value your customers, and your managers have zero customer service skills. Sadly I had several hundred dollars in store credit that I needed to spend, but this experience has left such a bad taste in my mouth, I will not only go out of my way from patronizing your store, I will ensure that as many people as possible find out how horrible I was treated by your employees. I don't think anyone spends money at your store to be talked down to, and intimidated by your rude, bigoted and dishonest staff. Shame on you Home Depot. The fact that one of your customers who happened to be a locksmith witnessed this and offered to help me when the "Manager" did nothing other than defend their employees abuse of their customers.
