Went there to get salt for the big snow storms that we are having they did not have much they had two bags one ripped wide open and one ripped with a little hole that I grabbed I asked do they give discount and they said no cause people will pay anything for the bags so they said either I could take it or basically leave it. The tool & vehicle rental service is a wonderful thing from any Home Depot that's not this one. The "manager", Tony, is suppose to provide details about extra OPTIONAL fees and costs, but he does not and neither does his team. When I came back to return my box truck, something I rent weekly from other stores keep in mind, at his location it was DRASTICALLY more expensive. Horrible customer service (overall!!) we just re did our kitchen .. order everything first week of October & when everything came in (or so we thought) two cabinets were wrong & one was missing December 8th ... 2 months & 1 week later of every day calling, showing up, emailing ... cause no one knows anything & nobody ever answers we finally have our cabinets Although the cabinets/ wood is very good quality there were so many little finishes that were poor !! Thankful to Jesus who made the way and these associates that took care of my needs from my initial visit w/Yvette R. who reached out to ASM Eddie Ray with my request. Everything was setup according to my needs. Friday morning there was a slight issue but all was resolved within an hour prior to my arrival. Thank you to John & Diana in that department. Upon return lastly met & taken care of by Yvette M. Thanks to all of you helpful & pleasant associates. There wasn't any discriminating due to my status, race, sex, etc. Parking was readily avail. Recently purchased my kitchen granite countertop through home depot online order. The measurements and sample system online was awesome, and straight forward to follow directions. Either way, once you make your purchase, you will get a phone call regarding your purchase. They give you the option to pick a custom slab too if desired. You'll be assigned a Designer who will keep you up to date on your order and any special/custom request, my designer was Amanda from PennFab. Amazing and super patient! The home depot staff was amazing as well, the whole design department in home depot was great with advise and planning. After the fabricator sent someone to take measurements AND make a template, I then paid the remaining bill for any adjustments. (I changed the color.) BUT most importantly, the measurements and the template process was smooth and it's VERY accurate! Desiree, thank you so much for staying on top of my project, and being so very patient with my color picking frinzy. Joseph, your advice on the size and discount, stellar! Great call, and thank you for the confidence in the whole process. Mr. H! You're the best, the man let me look through EVERY color sample and was in no rush. Home Depot design department is obviously all on the same page, and are good at what they do. This Home Depot must be the worst the planet. 64 min to input data , this is after a measurement was done all we needed was a ticket to pay Kept blaming it on computer issue when it was incompetent employees they did not know how to enter the data next trip was for mini blinds. -just replacing an existing one that broke. All data was in the computer !!! So much wasted time 1 st employee didn't know how to process request. Second employee had to call manufacturer. I brought old purchase order. and blind in to store. This store is ABSOLUTELY RACIST! I was passed over when I needed help from employees and even given attitude. Every time I come to this store the employees are constantly standing around talking as if there were no customers there. When I approached two employees and began to speak to one of them, the one I was speaking to looked at me and walked away as if I wasn't there. It was so BLATANT the other employee who had been talking to her was taken back by her rudeness. He ended up point to aisle I should go down. A few minutes later, I asked the same young man for help whereas I still could not find what I was looking fue and he asks me to give him a minute that he was helping someone. After waiting a few minutes I went down the aisle where he was helping a WHITE person. None of these people went with me to make sure I found what I wanted. None of the employees even made sure I found what I was looking for. I was so upset at this point, I asked for the manager. All of a sudden one of the employees who was rude to me offered to take 50% off of the item I asked him to help me find. By that time, the manager (Larry) came and I explained the situation. I asked him why his employees were eager to help White people and pass over BLACKS? I told him I was treated in a racist manner and this should not be occurring in the 21st century and has to stop! Of course he told me that I should not have been treated like that. In addition. I made it quite plain I would no longer be a patron at the store although I lived close by. He even gave me one of the products I bought at no charge, apologized for how I was treated and asked me what I wanted him to do and I said FIX IT! Larry assured me he would handle the situation. This place blows. Where do I start? I suppose I should start this review by explaining that I live less than a mile from this location. So, it's convenient. Every time I go in there, there's no one to ever help me out. I was in the tools dept once, went up to customer service 3 times..no one. I eventually guessed on what I needed, and left. Second time I went in there was to get a part for my dehumidifier. Alas! Someone wanted to help me! FANTASTIC! Except this dude was a total dick. "I can't help you, if you don't know the size of the hose." Alright asshole, I have the manual pulled up on my phone. Relax, drink a beer. Just went in there today to purchase a fire pit. The box was relatively large, but light. I threw it over my shoulder and began walking to an open register (there were none) Note: I'm a rather small person, so this oversized box, made it look like a box got up and walked away. I walked by 6 employees, SIX..not one of them asked if they could help me bring it to a register, or if they could ring me up. Nobody at this location gives a shit about their customers. I had a reservation for a truck with a 2 pm pick up. I called the day before to confirm and I was lead to believe everything was fine. When I get there and I'm told that the van isn't there. No email no phone call that they had canceled my reservation. I had people I had to pay and a delivery that needed to be made. I have lost a lot of money. They said the van should have been back at 10 am Friday. I called at 4 pm Friday and was told I was all set. If the VAN wasn't there I should have been told so I could have made different plans. read more

Once again the Deer Park Home Depot makes life difficult. Not only do they never have what I need, but when they do have the item, it's damaged when i get home. I purchased a complete bathroom in store but they had to order everything online and ship to store. Got home with my Black toilet and find out that the strapped pallet was a pedestal sink.. Who has to return it to the store, ME? Just purchased a vanity for the second bathroom, get home with the contractor, damaged... Does anyone help, NOPE. The store could care less, the online help people didn't want anything to do it. I had to drag the piece of crap back to the store to get an attitude from the cashier as to why it has no barcode on it... Then walk to the paint department and the woman was helping ME, walked off, and when I gave her the paint color I wanted, told me I had to wait in line, meanwhile she already had the rest of my paint in the shaker machine. Made an appointment for a measurement to have vinyl flooring put in. The person who came to measure was snarky and miserable. He told me I could go to Home Depot about an hour after he finished and they would have the measurements and that I could pick the materials to get an estimate. I went to the store 2 days later instead. I then stood in the flooring department for 30 minutes while people from other departments continued to call for someone to come to flooring. Each time someone came they said "oh I can't help you" or "oh I don't know how to work that" one guy who works in FLOORING even asked me "did you check in appliances?" what?! I gave this 2 stars because when I went up to customer service and asked for my 38 dollars spent on the measurement back, they did not give me a hard time. I ordered a product in plenty of time to install it before my vacation.I was under the impression that I was to receive an e-mail notice or a phone call when to pick it up.I did not.The mouse on my computer went down so I was limited on my PC.I decided to call the store and the lady said yes it is here it has been here for three weeks.I was just lucky enough to get it installed in time.When I had picked it up it came with a card that stated that I would receive an e-mail and a survey on my experience.I was going to suggest that they improve the communication on their part but I never received the survey. read more

This place and the people they hire are useless. I went there today because I needed to buy some paint and had the single most frustrating "customer service" (and I use the term loosely) interaction in my recent memory. I go to the paint department to find the swatch I need. Three associates ignore me as I look around with no success. The only person to approach me was a guy selling solar power who didn't even work there. I found out through the computer display that the paint I needed wasn't available and needed to be mixed. I approach the counter and tell the guy the exact paint I need, brand, color, and code. "What kind of paint you want?" Um, I just told you. "You want the Premium, the Ultra, or the Super Duper?" What's the difference? "This covers better." Um... Okay, not enough info to go on. I tell the guy what I need it for, what room, what I'm painting, the works. "Get this one, it covers better." No educating, just selling. Fine, how much is a half gallon? "We don't do half gallons, just gallons and quarts." Well, there are four quarts in a gallon, so how much is two quarts, smartass? "Two quarts costs almost the same as a gallon." Give me a number. "What sheen?" Clearly I didn't have the info this guy wanted, and he wasn't very forthcoming with the help I needed, so I left. This isn't service. We're not all contractors, I'm just repainting a wall, not restoring the damn Sistine Chapel. I went to the Home Depot in Commack immediately after and got much better service. I just walked out of this Home Depot. The customer service is HORRIBLE. Went in to look for a shower part and some kitchen lighting. I waited for 25 minutes for some one to come and help me, and nobody helped. The ppl at customer service told me somebody would be there and never showed up. I had to walk to customer service twice to let them know nobody ever came. Then they tell me after waiting for 20 mins in front of customer service and watching 3 of the workers having a conversation and doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, that someone was there but with another customer. Worst Home Depot I've ever been to, for some reason they were staring at us the whole time and it just made me feel so weird.

I would leave negative stars if I could. This is the WORST store with the WORST customer service. Ordered kitchen cabinets that took over 3 weeks for a "designer" to figure out how to input our order into the system. 2 months later we receive the order and 60% of it is WRONG. It has now been a month and we're still trying to get someone at this store, who has a clue and can make decisions, to schedule a return and order the correct products. Not asking for world class customer service, just basic customer service would do. Never again with this store or company. Lowes blows them out of the water on every level. read more

I am writing to commend an employee of this store, Sydney. This past Thursday, June 21, 2012, I had a car accident which almost ripped off my front bumper. My car limped into the Home Depot parking lot where Sydney noticed me and came over to help, He meticulously and carefully tied the bumper to the car and taped it so that I would be able to drive home safely, no small feat. He did such a great job that I not only got home safely, but was able to go to work the next day before bringing the car to the repair shop. I repeatedly tried to tip Sydney but he would not take a dime. He just told me that the important thing was that i was hurt. He was very kind. and hard working. I believe that people like Sydney should be praised and publicly commended for their honesty, hard work and decency. I wanted to go into the store and tell his manager but he modestly declined. I hope the public and Sydney's supervisors see this letter and feel grateful for having such an outstanding employee as Sydney. read more
