If you're thinking of remodeling your kitchen and using Home Depot - Don't! I am 6 months into a remodel and still waiting for them to finish. I have been without a kitchen for 3-4 months. There is no project management whatsoever. There is no accountability, and the manager of this store doesn't give a crap. Weeks pass without any followup despite multiple emails. And when they do respond, they're rude and unapologetic. I'd highly recommend Home Depot fire all the management at this location and get out of the business of coordinating 3rd party contractors. Stick to what you're good at - selling paint, lumber and tools until Amazon puts you out of business. If you're thinking of doing a home project, pay more money and have a contractor do it. My search consisted of plants and soil to place in my perennial garden spot. I was in luck they had a great select of daisies and corn flowers but they were out of the brand soil that I needed and another shipment was not expected for 3-5 days. I was also price shopping for a small style vanity for my half bath. Good selection but wrong color choices. That also would take possibly 2 weeks to be delivered. Bought over $700 worth of products. Only one check put lane is open. So, we went through self check out instead. Two African American women in there late 40's early 50's tells us to wait for the the check out lane. Anyone who went through the self check out these two women would re-direct them to the check out lane. Does not matter if you have 2 items or 20 item, they will re-direct all customers to the one and only open check out lane. We feel bad for the African American girl who have yo check all these customers out, while these women stand around and does nothing, but re-direct people to this girl. So, we said "NO" we would like to check our self out, we are able body. One of the women proceed to say "ok, dang" I don't think this is appropriate, while the other women throw out racial slurs, calling us these Asian. We were so upset, and quickly check ourself out did not capture these two women's name. This incident occurs on 5-28-19 at 5:45pm. Hopefully manager look into these two women who worked at self-check out lane. Never once encountered a bad or negative experience at Home Depot. But, this kind of behaviors is un-call for. If you chose to be lazy then do not come to work. If you decide to cash a paycheck then do your fair share of workloads. The girl who were at the check out looked exhausted and pissed off as well (she is in her mid or late 20's). read more

Just left this Home Depot after trying to purchase a grill. I asked an employee in the area if I could have some help in getting one, he stated he was "off the clock" and couldn't help. He proceeded to walk away without offering to find someone who could help. After waiting around with no sign of another employee I took my business elsewhere. read more

As far as Home improvement stores go, this store is weak in so many ways. They are poorly attended (you have to scan your own goods at check out and never have attended registers open), horrible about returns (although I spend over 20k a year on home improvement items, they treat me the same as their retail customers and restrict my returns), and they are overly crowded. My "go to" Chapel Hill Lowes, a much better and friendlier store. Or the best yet is the Pittsboro Lowes, where I have more than once had employees literally help push my (usually over loaded) cart - awesome service by comparison. I am not brand loyal, but certainly Home Depot has gone to H__ in a hand basket. read more

This Home Depot isn't bad, but the employees aren't always the most helpful. It's a pain for them to constantly point me to another employee "who should know the answer." I used to work for a Home Depot and all employees are given the page number to contact the person "who should know" so that customers don't have to be sent on a wild goose chase. Store is fairly clean and organized. Have found one or two items in the wrong bin, but nothing too annoying. Associates are good at admitting when they don't know, but directing to someone who does. They don't push extras like loyalty or credit cards at checkout. Bathrooms are clean. read more

I'm giving the Home Depot on Mt Moriah Rd five stars to each of two employees (and not the store -- that will be another review) who went out of their way to help me today. I went looking for a a new knife this morning as I had an extra thick, heavy duty and monstrous-sized box (approximately 5'x5'x6") to cut up into much smaller pieces for recycling. My own basic utility knife that I've used quite easily for years wasn't up to this task. Ted, who works in the hardware department, helped me pick out exactly what I needed. I brought a sample of the box material for him to see and understand what I was up against -- I could not even bend or crease this sample. Cutting up a box sounds like a simple task, but it really wasn't if the object was this particular box and if I was the one doing the task. I appreciated Ted's kindness, patience and expertise. There's no doubt that he selected the best and safest knife for me out of many brands, styles, sizes, and uses that were available, as well as one that was comfortable in my smaller hand and wouldn't require over-exertion from me. This morning I opened the knife packaging, found no instructions for putting it together but still attempted to position the razor sharp blade in its handle. Not so easy and possibly dangerous in my hands. This task required more hand dexterity and strength than I have. I went back to Home Depot but Ted was out to lunch. However, "Dr Phil" who works in the tool rental department, came to the rescue. He quickly and deftly managed the task all the while giving me instruction on how to do it myself. Like Ted, he was very kind and understanding of my situation and in short order completed the task. Ted's and Dr Phil's sense of humor was an extra bonus. These reviews of Ted and Dr Phil may be overly long for this type of review, but I wanted Home Depot management to understand everything that went into finding the most appropriate product for me. read more

They usually have everything I need so I can't be picky with them. I go to Home Depot stores all over the area and each one has a different set up. It would be a lot easier to find what I need quickly if they all had similar set ups. Whenever I go into a hardware store I have to think about which one I'm in so I know where I need to go. Yes I could always ask for help but when I'm in a hurry it's inconvenient to ask for each item I need if I just know where to get myself. Today I was looking for low voltage landscape wire but I couldn't find it so I will just go to Lowes where I know where it is. read more

Home delivery of a washer and dryer. Scheduled a date. They gave us a message the night before giving us a 4 hour 'window'. Didn't show. they messaged and gave us another date one week later (not what we scheduled). Gave another message the night before with another '4hr window'. Message again saying the truck broke down. Arbitrarily give us another date. None of the dates are convenient, have to schedule to be there skip work to do so. Call customer 'no' service and they can do nothing to help. No compensation, no flexibility to expedite, ANDTHEY EVEN HUNG UP ON ME DURING THE CALL! Will never buy from them again! read more

Used to love this place - sad to see them dropping so quickly. They sucked me into getting another credit card that I did not need because they will give me 5% off each purchase. Next purchase no discount. They said I had to ask each time. So for three or four months I have been asking each time. Tonight they told me they were stopping the deal they made with me because the region did not want to honor their agreement anymore. They sucked me in on a credit card that I did not need with that 5% deal. Now I have the junk mail of their trashy useless card and the weird requirement to keep it so my credit rating stays at the top of the scale. What a pain in the rear. I went to this Home Depot store looking for a specific item. I had already been to Lowe's because it was closer and finding someone there to help was near impossible. Thee young lady in the tool department was what customer service is all about. After looking at what they had to offer me she went to the computer and searched to find what I was looking for. A great experience and will go back again. It is nice to see that customer service is still alive and well at this Home Depot. read more

Don't ever buy an appliance here! "Free installation and delivery" isn't real. We've had the worst experience ordering a washer/dryer. Paid $2300 including delivery, installation, and 5-year protection plan. Upon delivery, the guy wouldn't hook up the washer & dryer, even though we had carefully spent one hour in the store going over every single thing we would need to ensure a successful delivery (two Home Depot employees looked over every part order to make sure we'd have everything we need). We specifically asked, "do we need to do anything with this washer pan we're buying?" And they said no. Come delivery day, the guy wouldn't give us our washer/dryer because the pan was "not secured to the floor." Not only that, he wouldn't even wait more than exactly 5 minutes -- not enough time for us to get the Home Depot folks on the phone and get it straightened out. Turns out he could have at least left the washer and dryer here, so we could have paid to have someone hook it up--but he wouldn't even leave it with us. I recently purchased Bruce solid wood floors from Home Depot. They stated they were "random lengths" in the item description, however I was told to expect approximately 10% in "short boards"...well per box I received approximately 40-50% in short boards. By this I mean boards that are no more than 2-4 ft long. Additionally, there were unfilled knot holes and the ends of the boards were chewed up and some areas unfinished. In the flooring industry these are considered "cabin grade" floors which are actually a step below factory seconds. Home Depot should be ashamed of duping unsuspecting customers into purchasing subpar products. I tried to review this product on their website as well as their facebook page and it was REJECTED in both locations. SHAME ON YOU for not making people aware of this inferior grade product!!!!! read more

I am remodeling a kitchen and need to upgrade a suite of appliances. My plan, which I've used in the past, is to find a good deal in a floor model refrigerator of a brand I like the suite of, and then purchase the remaining items for the suite. I find the savings typically covers the cost of the otr microwave. So I go to home depot and find a decent deal on an LG model I'm interested in. I go hunting to find a sales person and tell her I want to buy the fridge. She says great, but if you want it delivered it's $59.99 and they won't bring it inside. Seriously? $200 off a floor model, less $60 to get it delivered to my driveway, then less whatever I have to pay someone else to bring it inside and remove the old one. Has anyone from Home Depot corporate ever shopped at Lowes who delivered my floor model grill for free last week. Honestly, home depot just gets worse and worse while Lowes keeps getting better. Even the websites..looked up cabinet depth refrigerator on Lowes, shows me a couple dozen options, at home depot site, showed me two dorm fridges. I'm sure I could have found a way to see more of a selection on the home depot site, but really, you want to make it hard for customers that's your business, and a business that will only continue to lose ground. I am here waiting on an online order that was placed around 9am this morning. It is now 5 pm and the order is incomplete. The issue is they are understaffed and totally disorganized. We want to share our experience with the Installation/Re-modelling Division of Home Depot. Home depot sub-contracted our job out to a business called Aspirations, and did not oversee the job that they were paid for. There were repeated attempts to hold them accountable and they did not respond to our frustrations appropriately and in a timely manner. Problems cascaded over time. 1. Aspirations had apparently never worked in Durham County before and claimed to be unaware of the building inspection codes and rules. This is apparently why they kept responding that they did not need a building permit when repeatedly asked about it. Later on, they had to back track after the electrical inspector sent in all the other inspectors to check the job. The plumbing inspection then required holes being cut out of our dining room ceiling (since they hadn't had the inspection at rough-in.) 2. The first plumber caused the hot and cold water to mix so that we thought our hot water heater was not working, and went ahead and replaced it. The second plumber installed the rain shower much too low, so other plumbers had to come in and cut through the adjoining wall from the bathroom next door to adjust the height. 3. The whole job took seven months, yes SEVEN. Even the painting that they offered to do at the end (to make up for all the hassle) was of poor quality. These are actually only a few of the examples of issues that developed over time. Communication between different departments and with contractors was very problematic. For what we paid for the job, the quality of the work was not as expected. I would never recommend Home Depot for a re-model. read more

As a retired residential contractor, I have dealt with a lot of building supply stores. I have never had the displeasure of a box store quite as bad as the one on Mt. Moriah rd. in Durham, N.C. Almost a year and a half ago I purchased $8000 worth of cabinets from this store, the project still isn't finished! Four cabinets had to be sent back because they were not built properly. One of the replacement cabinets was cracked and had a large gap up one side of the sink's face frame. Six doors were missing, three shelves were missing, and two of the cabinets were the wrong color. After finally getting the cabinets installed, the doors delivered, and fixing the broken cabinets that were replacement for the incorrect cabinets, the project is only waiting on shelves. Three shelves... And in the last FOUR MONTHS, this Home Depot has called me twice to inform me that my doors have arrived...twice. Doors are not shelves. Twice have I been woken up at 7:04am to be told they ordered the wrong items, again, and they have arrived at the store after a rapid turnaround of 9 weeks! Please hurry up and come get your stuff out of our store. Not only are there always a lot of employees standing around talking to each other and not customers, when you do manage to get someone wearing an orange apron to talk to you the answer they have is usually "I don't know, this isn't my department". The only competent employee I have dealt with is Jay. He is polite, helpful, professional, and most importantly he does what he says he will. I will not spend a single $ at this store in the future and continue to tell other people about my experiences there. It's always something, parts missing from a box, products in stock but not on hand, products in the wrong location, apathetic employees, rude minor managers... Avoid Home Depot in Mt. Moriah rd in Durham N.C. Like the plague. There is a Lowes Hardware just down the road, for what it's worth. read more

Had to call back 4 times just to get transferred to 4 different people until I got to flooring which is weird because the automated guide says press 5 for flooring! Really bad customer service! So unhappy with the service it's unbelievable. Spent several thousand dollars on appliances for a new house. Given a delivery date several weeks out and were told they would call at least a day before. No one called. My husband called them the day before the delivery was to occur and was on hold for over an hour, only to finally find out there was an issue and appliances wouldn't be delivered until 4 days later. So several more days living without major appliances. Delivery was supposed to be tomorrow but again no one called. My husband called and waited on hold again only to be told that delivery hadn't been scheduled but it could take until 7pm. After 7 my husband called back and eventually was told that the local delivery center was closed for the day so no idea if they are coming tomorrow or not. No time window given, no one contacted us AT ALL even once. Do yourself a favor and find someone local with good reviews if you care at all about service or wasted time. I will be giving this advice to everyone I know and won't be spending my money there again. They should reconsider their partners. read more
