We recently purchased a dryer for our grandson from this Lowe's store. At first, we had to return to the store due to inflexibility with the delivery. After a lot of back and forth, I ran into Kayla, part of management, and she listened to my concerns about the delivery day and time. We were on our way to return the appliance and purchase the same dryer at Home Depot. But Kayla was very understanding and wanted to satisfy my concerns, and she did. Buy appliances elsewhere, don't trust availability on website. 1. fridge delivered damaged, then wrong model, finally got one we would accept. 2. Ordered dishwasher website said I could have next day. They lied, not one in stock can have it next week. Called store about it, promised a call back. Never came. For years I've had no trouble returning anything to Lowe's. I had to return a clearance item and was told they don't take clearance items back. This is not true as I have done so previously. The cashier could not show me on the return policy where this was stated. I then asked for a manager who stared at the return policy board endlessly and could not find anything about clearance returns. He refused to take the return telling me he was "policy driven" even though he could not show me the policy in question because there wasn't one. This man should have been CUSTOMER SERVICE DRIVEN. His name was Wade, and he was rude. This store wasted 30 mins of my time. I then went to another store and made my return. OMG. Done w/ The Chapel Hill Lowes. Rudest surly man who they state is a manager. Really nightmarish and refused I recall last yr in '24 very abruptly because he "felt" like it to take my return . I had never encountered him or seen him there before. I went to the Raleigh Lowes and the return was done efficiently & with courtesy. Unfortunately just had this guy again after feeling relieved I hadn't seen him around this neighborhood Lowes. The staff was inept and also rude at the return desk and called him to help. He was absolutely no help, did not take my returns and NOW after this and other crummy experiences, I am canceling my Lowes credit card and not going to follow through w/ a kitchen remodel. The usual desultory customer service. Employees more keen on strolling through the store without acknowledging or greeting customers... sitting at the customer service desk watching as we struggle to load an 80 lb bag of concrete on our cart, then misdirecting us when asked for the location of the perforated drainage pipe ( he told us Building Supplies. It's not. Its outdoor garden. ) The employee huddle is at the empty cashier area, as its 7:30 ish there's hardly anyone yet checking out. The employee who spent the last 20 minutes chatting with a female employee at the registers (she was meanwhile actually performing a job function simultaneously) did his best to avoid us, but we did manage to get his attention. Sad. We won't give this store another try. We spent way too much time trying to locate the goods we wanted. What is going on with Lowes Home Improvement stores? I have had multiple issues with items being delivered with obvious and serious damage. Most recently was a Craftsman tool chest coming from the Lowes in Chapel Hill on Fordham Blvd. After purchasing the chest on line, I was given a delivery date for the following Monday (9 AM to 1 PM). I stayed at home and waited. About 11 AM that day, I received an email that they could not deliver the chest and I should reschedule its delivery on line. I called Lowes to ask why and was told by an "associate" this was a mistake and the chest would be delivered as stated. I waited and no chest. After 1 PM that day, I received a second email rescheduling the chest delivery to Wednesday (which I changed to Thursday). On Thursday, the chest was delivered but had a very large dent in one of the drawers. I was shocked they would even load it on the truck in that condition. The delivery man told me Lowes was supposed to call me about the damage (they never did)(perhaps to offer me a discount if I accepted the dented cabinet). I did not accept the cabinet and it was returned to the store. I called Lowes and was told I had to wait a few days until their assembler came in to assemble me another chest. The next day, another associate called to inform me the drawer had been replaced and the chest now would be delivered Saturday. On Saturday, I received a call from the delivery truck driver. He informed me this second chest had several dents in the back - he said he did not want to waste a trip to my house if I refused the dented cabinet. I told him I did not want it. As write this review, I have been waiting to an associate at Lowes in Chapel Hill by phone for about 20 min (no one has answered yet - the call was dropped several times). It is always extremely difficult to get through to a live person at Lowes in Chapel Hill. Other damage items I received from Lowes (in other locations) were 2 broken toilets (one in many pieces rattling in the crate), 2 damaged screen panels from 2 sliding glass door sets, and one warped glass panel from a glass sliding door set. Surely, I can't be the only one experiencing these problems with Lowes. I see that Lowes in Chapel Hill has horrible reviews on YELP (2 stars). Don't they care? read more

When I called the service department, I was told that, unless you have purchased an extended warranty, Lowe's will only help you if you have had the appliance less than 48 hours. A *** MOUSE *** literally jumped out of the item I had in my cart while I was standing at the customer service desk listening to the assistant manager tell me there was nothing wrong with the item whose box was halfway chewed apart and smelled like one would expect for an animal nest. Visible feces, cardboard shavings, ripped box don't matter because, according to the assistant manager, "I can just take it out of the box and put it on the floor and another customer will buy it." To prove there was "nothing wrong with it," he started ripping the retail box apart and that's when the mouse jumped out of the box and next to my face before retreating back down into his nest, a $700 Generac generator that I needed to buy. Assistant manager then offers to "discount" the item to the current clearance price that it would have rung up at the register anyway! He apparently thought I didn't realize the item was on clearance, as if I wasn't expecting to pay that price for a product in brand new condition (e.g. without a mouse living inside). Customer service calls manager who doesn't show up for 30 minutes while I waited with the product, mouse still inside. Finally, store manager CALLS the employee at the customer service desk, who relays his message that there was nothing wrong with the product. That the manager could not be bothered to speak in-person with a customer who had to deal with a mouse jumping at them from inside one of their retail products should indicate how much of a rat's butt CH Lowes cares about their customers' in-store experience, not to mention the condition of their inventory. read more

Lowes was fantastic for purchasing appliances but we had an awful experience with getting a fence installed. The only reason we have a fence put in at this point is because I called multiple times per week and spoke to no less than a dozen different individuals. I will spare you the 4 months of drama. Ok, first I am a contractor and our business is dependent on getting materials on time and when we say they are coming, this lowes apparently does not believe or care. I ordered split rail fencing for a customer and was told a day ahead that it was ready to be picked up, I still even have the phone message, this store is completely unorganized and every example of not how to run a business. The only thing they do have going for them is friendly staff. Mind you it's the friendly staff that just cost me a $3000 job and worse yet my first posable bad review. Lowes you make me look bad so I will continue to avoid you as much as possible. This review is based on the purchase of a washing machine and dishwasher. I came in on a Sunday, there were two sales associates in appliances. There were several people waiting patiently. It took about 45 minutes to complete the purchase. I ordered full delivery, removal of old appliances and installation of the dishwasher for the next Sunday. I never heard back and I called the following Saturday to confirm both the delivery and installation of both appliances. I was told they would call me on Sunday morning and provide a window of time on Sunday. I thought that was odd since it was literally the next day. The following Sunday morning I was awakened by a knock at the door with the delivery. The delivery man informed me that they would not install the dishwasher. ISO I went back to the store to express my concern and figure out the mess. The store said I didn't order the installation service just delivery. I mentioned I spoke with the sales person when I bought it and requested it as well as confirmed that it was an installation when I called. A mistake but it was time consuming and annoying. I must say the manager agreed to give me a small discount for all the trouble but I was definitely rely upset and had no dishwasher for over a week. And water two days waiting on delivery. read more

Lowe's in Chapel Hill didn't have the amount of beaded board we had ordered due to an inventory error. Then Janet came in and managed to have the beaded board ready early next day. We have also to mention the great efforts Chico made to pack the beaded board for overseas transportation and brought it to our home. And all this with a smile! He looked on his system and said that it would be at the store on February 28 and I would receive a call to have it installed. Never received a call so I attempted to call the store. OMG, what a joke. Tried 4 times a day for several days and was caught in a circle-jerk of transferring calls. For the last 2 months I've been trying, and failing, to purchase appliances from multiple local Lowes stores. The lack of professionalism and accountability I have experienced ensures that I will never purchase another item, no matter how minor, from Lowes. On my first attempt, I was assured by the customer services representatives at local store #1 that I could have the needed appliances delivered by a particular date. Immediately after receiving a confirmation email for my purchase, I received a second email delaying the delivery by 3 weeks. Associates at store #1 were unwilling to help and suggested I go to local store #2 to solve my own problem. I did that, and until today, believed that my appliance would be delivered tomorrow as scheduled. That was unfortunately not to be - I received a phone call from Lowes less than 24 hours prior to my expected delivery window to inform me that since I had placed my order, Lowes had sold all of units the refrigerator model I ordered and they would not be able to provide one to me for a further 4-6 weeks. The customer service rep offered no apology nor a solution to the problem. Lowes appears unfortunately to be in the lowest tier of major retail companies. Their unique combination of do-nothing attitudes, deplorable customer service, and a complete lack of accountability guarantee that not only will my family and business never again purchase from Lowes, I will actively encourage my friends, family, and colleagues to do the same. read more

We needed some flooring to expand a project that we had completed about a year ago. The item was no longer available as it was discontinued. I went in to talk with someone to see if they would be able to "find" five boxes. I worked with Gino over the course of about three weeks. He kept me updated throughout the entire process and was eventually able to locate the flooring we needed. It took about a week after confirmation for the order to arrive and when it did, there was an error. Gino went back to the manufacturer and was able to confirm that the item that we needed was still available and about another week later, we had the boxes that we needed. I was impressed with the communication and willingness to help. If I could give more than five stars, I would. Very poor customer service. I would think twice about buying a major appliance at Lowe's. Calling the store is a joke, as it takes forever to talk to a real person and then they transfer you and you wait endlessly for someone to pick up the phone or you get disconnected or you hang up after 45 minutes of hearing horrid music. I can't believe customer service is so poor. I am an understanding person, and I realize installers can make mistakes. But what the lack of customer service at Lowe's has done is push my frustration to the limits. I've dealt with them for days and still don't have full resolution of the problem. It's really been a nightmare, they make something that should be a quick and easy fix very complex and drawn out. I'm embarrassed to think how many hours, yes, hours, I've been on the phone, mostly just WAITING for a human, but when I get one, they are rarely able to help. Worst experience ever! Do not buy online from Lowe's. Went into the store to purchase all new kitchen appliances and couldn't find anyone to help us. We asked for help and a guy came over finally from a different department and suggested we order online because they didn't have all of the appliances in the Chapel Hill store. We made the purchase using a debit card and Lowe's has held more than twice the amount of our purchase at different times. They have scheduled and re-scheduled delivery more times than we can count with many different excuses. We have spoken to agents and supervisors and no one takes responsibility fir anything. Finally after a month of back and forth, we have no appliances delivered. I was so excited about the new appliances and Lowe's has ruined it for me. I'll never shop there ever again. read more

This review is solely based on my experience inside of the garden center earlier today. I will update this when I visit the inside of the store. After purchasing a load of grass seed from Southern States yesterday, I made the grave discovery this morning that I was completely out of garden soil, so to make the 3 hours I spent seeding yesterday worthwhile, I headed down to this Lowe's to buy some. Finding the necessary products wasn't as easy as I would've liked. One would think that the garden soil would be right next to the one-step fertilizer, but not here. In fact, they were on complete opposite sides of the garden center. It is really annoying, especially on ridiculously hot days such as today, to deal with a disorganized product arrangement, so it would be nice if that could be fixed. The staff, however, was jovial and helpful, making my time spent here pleasant; the employees here are much friendlier than those at the nearby Home Depot. Checkout was also quick and easy. My largest complaint is with some of the prices. I scored a terrific deal with the 2-cubic foot bags of garden soil. For $8 each, it is a deal that can't be beat. However, the prices on the flowers that I bought were exorbitant to say the least. Each hanging potted plant that I got cost me $29, which is at least 2x more than I should be paying for such a product. Overall, you could be doing much worse with a hardware store, but I strongly recommend you shop at the superior Home Depot, which has much better prices than those on display here. Do not order online appliances from Lowe's! I made the mistake of ordering a new dishwasher which was listed as "in stock." While this dishwasher supposedly in stock, the junction box it needed was not. While this is a very basic part (and is listed ready for pickup at my local Lowe's and Home Depot), it has held up delivery for more than a month (I am still without said dishwasher or junction box, with no delivery date in sight). Customer service is abysmal. I have spent more than two very long, very painful hours on the phone, fruitlessly being bounced around, without getting a straight answer. The official "customer service" line literally leads you to a phone line that rings and rings, without even a voice mail box. Reaching a life person on the corporate line sent me to the local appliance line, which sent me to deliveries, which sent me to "customer service." Even the contractor Lowe's is working with clearly hadn't heard from them about the junction box problem. 2021 has made a host of logistical challenges for the world's supply chain, but clearly Lowe's is not capable of communicating honestly with me or staying in touch with it's own offices. I wish I could give zero star- this place is a total joke. Bought washer and dryer set on Saturday, guy checked the warehouse and told me they are in stock and will be delivered on Sunday. So I stayed home on Sunday but no call or delivery. So I called customer service and was told the delivery was not put into their system, and they told me they reordered my washer dryer set and they should be delivered on Monday. Fine, I stayed home on Monday, but no call no delivery. I called again and the customer service/ manager named Tyler told me my washer and dryer set were actually in Raileigh and won't be ready until Thursday. And he told me that the guy sold me the set actually meant my set will be delivered "next Sunday". He said to compensate for my inconvenience, he will give me a discount. And he also told me that he will call me on Thursday. All sounds good, but again, no call no delivery on Thursday. So I called again on Friday, this Tyler guy told me he was on vacation and that's why he didnt call me. And my washer and dryer set will be delivered on Saturday. I will also not get a discount because he is not authorized to give discounts or refunds to customers. Long word short, this place is a total disaster and joke. Won't buy any thing from this horrible place or Lowe's at all in the future. read more

I came here looking to buy some foam or caulking product, but wasn't exactly sure what I needed. I roamed the store and couldn't find any employees free to assist me, so I finally walked to the customer service department where two employees were leisurely chatting. I asked them about where I could find my product, and with the attitude I was bothering their conversation, they said "Oh I don't know, I think those things are in Aisle 6". I'm not big on persuading people to help me when they don't want to (especially when they are already paid to do just that), so I left and went to a local store (Ace Town & Country) near Trader Joe's. They were helpful and appreciated my business, and I got the product I needed. It is not likely I will be returning to this Lowe's again. read more

I made an appointment with a kitchen designer and arrived to the store on time. I waited 10 minutes for help and finally went to find someone in a neighboring department who told me the kitchen designer had called in sick, and so no one was there to help me. No one attempted to call me and let me know, even though my appointment was late in the day. I left the store and then called the store manager to relay the situation. He was in no way discourteous, and agreed it shouldn't have happened, yet didn't bother to get my name or make a suggestion on how to make the situation right. Employees follow the lead of their management, and based on my experience, this management team isn't ready to offer customer service driven retail. read more

Did you know there was a study done that showed women have a preference for Lowe's over Home Depot? They cited that it was because of the color scheme and organization tactics. I think since then, the HD has upped their organization skillz - but the damage was done, and I will always walk into a Lowe's first. All you DIY weekend warriors (like Kyle and I) can usually come here for a one-stop have it all shop. However, you MUST beware anything electronic in open packaging. As we saw this weekend, even when they offer it to you at a good discount - its not worth the time you spend installing the thing, finding it doesn't work, having to troubleshoot, and finding out it just didn't work in the first place. ;) The plant selection is decent, and the staff is always ready to help you find what you need for the random household project you are taking on this weekend (wood, outdoor carpet, patio furniture..Halloween decorations? Yes!) Taking on a painting project and checking this place out for inspiration? They've got TONS of color samples, palettes, and reputable quality non-VOC paint brands that aren't basically colored water you slap on the wall. You'll find what you need here. read more

Just drove out of my way to pick up an item that was listed as having 10 in stock at this location. Got here to find there were none and an employee said "I don't know what to tell you. Can't you just come back?" He then looked online and said "oh well north Durham says they have 6" to which I pointed out that was coming from the same website that says this store has 10. I made an online order for 2 items that they don't carry in store- one a special rough-in size toilet for a spare bathroom and another for some replacement sliding closet doors. I had to come on two separate occasions to pick these items up because of the timing of them coming in- which was slightly annoying- it would have been easier to just pick them both up at once, but one took significantly longer to get here, which isn't the store's fault. What IS the store's fault is that on BOTH occasions I got the impression that 1.) Of all the employees they have milling around the store- there isn't anyone assigned in the 'back' or inventory section of the store that can be paged to find/pull orders and bring them out and 2.) possible because of 1, it didn't seem like anyone knew exactly where my items were. The toilet didn't take too long, but for the doors they had to search around for 30+ minutes to find them. Now, I'm no shipping/receiving/warehousing expert or anything, but I'm pretty sure when that stuff comes in they should assign a shelf, or row, or bay etc. and put that in the computer system so that the order is easy to find and pull later. I don't think that if I have anything that I need ordered again that I would have it shipped to this store. read more

I walked in to get three items today. After finding my department, I walked around a 3-aisle radius for 20 minutes trying to find someone to help. I then walked to the front of the store, to which a very rude female employee acted like I was an annoyance to her when I asked if someone could be paged to the air conditioning aisle to assist me. Nobody came. I then waited another 15 minutes and tried pressing two of the "need help?" buttons, and NOBODY EVER CAME. I paged for assistance over 6 times on the intercom with those buttons. I finally gave up and they lost my business. They'll be FORTUNATE to have my business again, if ever. To top things off, the man who rang up the two items I was able to find couldn't find it in himself to be pleasant or to speak up when giving payment amounts or instructions. He acted like he was barely "mentally there" at work, like his head was somewhere else. This is honestly the worst service, or the most non-existent customer service, that I have ever witnessed at any Lowe's. Corporate should review this store and their customer service and product guidance service, given the number of horrible reviews for this location. read more

Ludicrously absurd "customer service"... Went to buy a refrigerator today. ONLY one person at the entire appliance area...He was tying things up with a couple who were there before me. Phone rings...Hence he stays on the phone for ten minutes while we wait. BAD tactic..Taking about another ten minutes for him to work with the sale of the couple..I am standing and waiting.. and waiting..Would not be so bad but FOUR other Lowe's employees are sauntering about doing NOTHING while I stand there.
