Inside the store, the staff here is wonderful. They are very helpful, and always ask if I need anything. However, in the garden center, they are very much lacking. Annuals are labeled as perennial, prices are mislabeled, and the staff is very unhelpful. They don't even greet you when you come in, never ask if you need anything, and mostly just play on their phones while you browse. Extremely rude and unhelpful. This is quite possibly the worst HD I have ever been to. Woman in flooring (1st shift) is rude and disrespectful. Wait times are horrendous. Store manager is useless and incompetent. Avoid this store at all costs. Only reason I would come here is for the cabinet designer..I think his name is David. He's the only one here who takes pride in his work and knows his stuff. read more

Unprofessional staff that ignores you when they see you coming their way.

Do NOT go to this store if you have any questions about home improvements or if you just need help finding something in general. This place has the WORST customer service and associates I've ever experienced. They're supposed to be EXPERTS on home improvement yet when I came to find a replacement for my front door moulding (which my dog chewed up and which is not actually my door but my landlords door) no one seemed to be around to help as I wandered aimlessly around the store looking for the correct type of moulding. Even better, when I finally located an associate and asked for help figuring out which type of moulding would match mine (I brought in the old moulding in hopes that this would help) he stated he didn't know but would go find someone who could better serve me. So I waited.... and waited... and waited... 15 minutes go by and no one has come to help. So I go find someone else and ask the same question explaining that the other person left and never came back to help. He also stated that he didn't know how to help and was going to find someone else to help. 10 more minutes go by and still no one in sight. Needless to say I will NOT be coming back to this store if I have any question about home improvement or if I need any help at all. read more

I went in last night to purchase a new nail gun. Found a nice Rigid version with a tag on the shelf that said "New Low Price" of $176, down from $229. So I picked one up and went to pay. During checkout I noticed that they were charging full price and asked the cashier to fix it. He called his head cashier and the two of us walked back to verify the price. As she investigated she noticed the SKU numbers on the ones in stock didn't match the one on display. Calling over another head cashier, they pondered and then discovered that the "new low price" was actually discontinued and Raleigh was the closest store that had one. At that point they called over a manager to verify, all of us agreeing that they should honor the posted price but they needed a manager's approval. When he arrived he flatly said no way. It was up to the vendors to change the display, so he wasn't obligated to honor their stated price. He did offer to give me a $20 discount (not even 10% off) but I refused. At that point he shrugged his shoulders and just walked off. No effort to make the situation right at all. Just passing the buck to a "vendor." I could understand if there was a noticeable difference in the new and old versions, but as we stood there waiting for the manager, the cashiers and I had looked very thoroughly trying to figure out what was "new," but they were EXACTLY the same except for the SKU number. I know "the customer is always right" went out the window years ago, but shouldn't companies be responsible for honoring prices posted in their OWN store! This Home Depot has terrible at customer service. I visited to pick up an online order that was inadvertently sent there vs south Durham. It was a pain to get there but I went to the contractors desk (selected on online order). A big guy just stared at me from behind the service desk without offering to help. I told him that I was there to pick up an online order. He looked at a computer that was at the end of the counter and then walked outside the corral of service desk to the computer and asked my name in a gruff manner. He seemed to be indicating that I was supposed to use that computer myself to look up the pickup information. There was no indication of that. He typed in my name found my order then pointed to the other end of the store to a long line near a small black and white light with some stick on letters too far away to read and said "that is where online orders a picked up," in a gruff manner. I thought to myself "then why have that checkbox on the online order form?" Home Depot's stock went down with that interaction but I walked to the other end of the store and waited my turn. A flippant young service person said "NEXT" and I told her that I had an order and gave her my name, she asked for ID and then disappeared into the chain-link lockup areas behind her. She dragged out the beat-up box of ice and water shield was about to fling it my way when I asked for her to process a military discount. She said that could only be done for store items. I said that was incorrect having processed the discounts previously at other stores following the online guidance (www.discounts-deals4military.com/2014/01/home-depot-how-to-get-10-military.html). After a brief discussion with the lady next to her she said OK (no apology for lying to me just a second ago trying to avoid any effort in the transaction). Then said she could not take my kind of military ID. I had already spent more time than I wanted with their lousy customer service so I asked her to transfer the stuff to the south Durham store. She said that she could not do that. I asked for her to check and she just repeated herself. I had enough and told her to return the items and refund me as I refused them and left. About 30 minutes later she calls my cell number telling me that I had to drive all the way back to her to process the cancellation. I let her know how bad the customer service experience she and her store had created and told her there was no way that I was going back there but that I did care enough to report it to customer service. She said that there was no way to return it without me coming back in which made no sense. When I got to my office I saw what she had done and why she was probably trying to get me to come in to cover up her error. She falsely closed out the order as "picked up." She either did not know what she was doing and was trying to get me to do extra work to fix her problem or she purposefully closed out the order as delivered in an attempt to force me to bow down as her despised customer/servant. I called 800-HomeDepot and got a customer service person named Shavon who called Sarah and tried to get me to return to the store as well. I asked for a real customer service person and Shavon kept repeating how I had to go back to the store which I had heard many times but knew that could not be correct. Shavon would not stop repeating the same thing even when I asked her just to put the supervisor or real customer service person on the line. Finally she did and a very professional lady name Megan got up to speed on what happened quickly and apologized - she even corrected misleading statements in Shavon's notes from the call. Megan cancelled the order, connected me to an online order agent to reorder, then she called the north Durham Home Depot and within minutes I was getting emails with receipts of the cancelled order and the refunded money.
