Horrible, horrible experience! I made a large order online and it was so frustrating. I came to the store on the date for my pick up and my order wasn't ready. They hadn't even begun to pull it. So I had to go and do it myself. Why even offer it??? There was only one associate who was working, everyone else as either on their phones or couldn't be found. Oh Home Depot...where shopping is rarely a pleasure... The Good: It's the closest one to where I live. That's all I got. The Bad: Very disorganized. Checked online for a screen door, said there were 3 in stock. Got to the store, none on the shelf (of course). Talk to the guy there (most helpful HD employee ever actually) and he looked it up and said the computer said there were 10 in stock! (of course none on the shelf available for purchase) Anyway the guy actually went to the back to check receiving, buuuut couldn't find anything. Not surprised. He offered me something else twice the price. Im good thanks though. At least he tried! Which is more than I can say for...let's call him Jerry. I asked Jerry who could help me with getting a key made (as he was leaned up against the key machine as he stared down at his little hand held thing). Without looking up or greeting me or even acknowledging me he just stuck his hand out. I assumed that meant "hand me the key" so I did. Jerry is a real charmer as you can see. So after that he continued to begrudgingly make me a key without ever looking at me or being nice in any way. I asked which keys I could choose from. He told me but wasn't super enthusiastic. Anyway I got my key made but the overall experience was not the best. Hopefully HD will get it together eventually. read more

Great customer service, items (mostly in stock), and good variety and price. I'm comparing those things to Lowe's in North Durham where I've experienced repeated waking nightmares. For example, I was picking up several sheets of plywood by myself. Lowe's is a shorter drive and I get 5% off using their credit card. Lowe's showed a pallet's worth in stock. Nothing on the shelf. No one to ask to stock it. Went to Home Depot. Nothing on the rack but was easily able to flag down an employee who drove a fork lift over and stock it in 10-15 minutes. Ordered a refrigerator online. *1st delivery drivers arrived and were unable to make the delivery without 3 men, rescheduled for 2 days later. *2nd delivery occurred (scheduled as a 3 man delivery), again only 2 arrived. These 2 men attempted the delivery by themselves, damaged walls/floors just to find out that the power cord on the refrigerator was broken, so it was taken back out of the house. It took 3 seperate phone calls on 3 separate occasions to actually get this Home Depot insurance claim started. Another was delivery scheduled for 1 week later. *3rd delivery arrived with a new fridge and with only 2 men again. The delivery drivers said they could not safely deliver the product without 3 men. I let them know that we figured that out 1.5 weeks ago. I requested that the fridge be left in my garage instead of the truck, because last time it was put back on the truck (after the 1st delivery) it came back damaged. Fridge was left in my garage. Delivery rescheduled again, 2 days later. I confirmed with several different people that 3 people would be showing up to this delivery. *4th delivery day- the delivery window passed and I called to ask where the drivers were. I was told that they skipped my stop because the product didn't fit on the truck since it was scheduled last minute 2 days prior......... I told them that was interesting, because the product is in my garage and I'm waiting for the 4th delivery team to take it where it belongs and install it. I confirmed again that the truck being sent to me was a 3 man team and was reassured that it was. To my surprise, only 2 men showed up (the same 2 men that damaged my house during the 2nd delivery). Of course, they attempted the delivery again, this time a little more gently, and the refrigerator was delivered. 4th times a charm I guess. I missed 2 days of work over these deliveries and sat at home for 4 days waiting for all of these failed deliveries. I would not recommend ordering any appliances through Home Depot, they have lost me as a customer for life. The third party delivery service they use is careless and clearly the third party service does not communicate with Home Depot delivery scheduling to actually accommodate what each delivery needs... even after the deliveries are escalated and reoccurring several times. The compensation was nearly nonexistent for the amount of hours I spent waiting and calling every single department, speaking to every single manager, doing everything I could to avoid all of these failed deliveries. Highly disappointed in the services and lack of communication among the countless people I spoke with regarding my 4 deliveries for 1 product. read more

The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and they always have product in stock. I've come here several times in the past couple weeks, for a variety of gadgets and it's been a joy. The prices are competitive, beating other retailers (of the home improvement variety) and each time I leave I feel just a little bit more confident - like I might actually know what I'm doing. I love the fact that they not only sell products, but can and willingly do explain how on earth to use them if necessary: eg c/o HD and YouTube University I re-keyed all the locks in my house for the hefty sum of $12, yes. I was overjoyed to cancel my appt with the locksmith, like no sir I don't need you anymore because I did it myself, talk about feeling empowered *cue the hairflip*. Parking is also a cinch with a giant lot and there's a Harris teeter and Petsmart right next door, so basically this shopping center is a one-stop-shop. Hookup the house, pooch and grab snacks? I was in the store today looking for screws for a table with detachable legs. Anyone who has looked for screws knows what a pain it can be. Many times employees don't want to help because of its tedious nature. But today, I got Fred. Fred was referred to me by another wonderful person, I wish I had gotten her name!!! In sharing my receipt we were just past the 90 day return window, where just the price difference was requested. The responsibility of a store manager is or should be to offer a solution of any kind - something - anything, but here they were unwilling to do anything other than recite their ever changing policies. Placed an online order to be picked up before the 14th per the confirmation. Today is the 13th & I received a text saying my order was canceled at 2pm when the store closes at 10:00pm. I called the store immediately to ask what had occurred and sales rep Luz confirmed the order was not canceled and I had until today to pickup. I arrived about 9:15pm to pickup and the order was in fact canceled. I drove over an hour to pickup this trailer to pickup the large order. I was told nothing could be done for me because once my order is canceled its just canceled. Then I shop for a few things while im there, pay and head to the pro door to exit where i parked & the door is locked, 20 minutes before closing the door is locked. Worst experience ever! read more

I went to HOME DEPOT to purchase items for a house project for the weekend. The man in hardware tools helped me. He pulled out a sander that would work for my project. I specifically asked him if it came with a battery and plug, as I live 30 minutes away. He said YES. Granted, I am using a HD gift card as the last time I was there, they sold me a USED shower head, as a NEW shower head. Now, I pull out the sander to charge it. And I find out after opening the box that it does NOT come with a battery pack or a charger, which is sold separately. That's another $60+. I called hardware to determine what battery and charger I now need to purchase. They guy in hardware could not help me, so he transfered me to a manager. Now I speak to a manager who mumbles and his accent is so strong I cannot tell what he is saying. I told him that I did not hear his answer and requested to repeat it. Then he got an attitude and said "mam, I already told you". I told him I did not understand him and to repeat it. Then he copped more of an attitude and said I already told you. WTH! These people do not know what the hell they are doing and are completely incompetent! So, I will return the sander and the paper for a refund. They just lost that sale and and a loyal customer who has dropped a lot of money over the years in their chain. I will never shop another Home Depot ever again. read more

Since the materials for my house came from HD and/or one of its parent companies or subsidiaries, there are some things I have been able to get here that are specific to my home, such as my vinyl shutters. This particular visit had me looking for polished brass entry locksets keyed alike. I would never have thought this would be so difficult to come up with 3 sets of entryway doorhandles/locks (including at least one deadbolt) keyed alike. Selection was not particularly good, help was non-existent, and I left without purchasing anything. I instead found what I was looking for at The Blue Borg (Lowes) in Wake Forest. read more

Even though Duke wants you to buy a VERY specific paint to repaint your walls (on Central Campus), this Home Depot will have the right color; they have it on a piece of paper. I am incredibly disappointed in this location/company. We were frequent customers here until we ordered our flooring. We ordered our flooring on May 28th and here it is July 22 and we still have concrete floors. We've received poorly manufactured flooring twice and now are waiting for the third (and hopefully) last batch. We've dealt with the store and corporate in this matter. The store manager in flooring left us a very unprofessional voice mail stating and I quote, "There will be no more concessions made" and I am taking that as they do not care about their customers and/or military (we are military). DO NOT EVER PURCHASE AN APPLICANCE OR PROTECTION PLAN I purchased a front-load Maytag 5/15/15. I also purchased a 3yr protection plan (which I never do) because the dryer had a lot of digital/computer touch buttons and I know they would give me issues. Home depot provides a (1) yr, so with the 3yr, I was covered for 4 years. Not so. Today, 9/6/19 I was told the protecton plan starts the day of purchase so it has expired. THIS IS NOT WHAT THE SALES ASSOCIATE TOLD me and it doesn't make sense. Why would the protection plan coverage overlap with the 1 yr from Home depot? Called both Home Depot and Lowes when my water heater went out. Prices for a new water heater and installation were very similar between the two stores, but the service at Home Depot was immensely better. The guy at Lowes didn't seem that interested in talking to me, had no idea what the installation date/time would be and he couldn't schedule it - basically, I would have to shell out $700 up front for the privilege of playing phone tag with the installer to get it scheduled. At Home Depot, they were able to handle everything in one phone call. They offered various installation dates and times (including same-day) and then I could make my decision whether to proceed with the purchase. They asked all the right questions and warned me that since my house is very old, it may need electrical work before installation. The installer arrived on time for the appointment, was very professional and knowledgeable, but unfortunately he determined that the water heater wasn't grounded so it would violate code to proceed. He told me EXACTLY what to tell the electrician so it would be easy for me to explain it, and told me it would be easy to reschedule the installation as soon as the electrical work was done. When I called back to reschedule installation, they made an extra effort to get it scheduled on the day I requested. The time slot was later than I wanted, but I was willing to settle for it - however, the scheduler remembered that I wanted an earlier time and called me back when someone else canceled so they could get me scheduled earlier! The second installer was just as knowledgeable, punctual, and professional as the first. The whole thing was done in just over an hour. I could not have been more happy with Home Depot on this! read more

DURHAM, NC Store 3632 has TERRIBLE customer service. On July 10th I ordered $1800 worth of flooring to be installed by this store. I've spent almost $10,000. at this store so I'm not a new customer. Today is July 22nd to date, I received one (1) phone call to tell me my flooring had arrived at the store and I'd be called on July 20th to set a install date. THEY NEVER CALLED. I spent 15 minutes on the phone today, July 22nd, to find out when my flooring was going to be installed. Most of the time I was on HOLD as the flooring dept never answered. I asked the operator to speak with a supervisor on my 3rd call. The store manager attempted to contact the person who was in charge of installations ... No answer. THIS STORE (DURHAM NC #3632) has TERRIBLE customer service AFTER YOU PAY! Forget calling. I'll be shopping at Lowe's from now on. UPDATE 8/28- The store manager still has the order on my Home Depot Credit Card and I'm just getting the runaround from Home Depot. They have spun me from person to person and even gave me a 1 800 # to call which is a non-ending telemarketing call that has you press 1 or # if you want their "special offer" for a free (for a $1.99 fee) store credit voucher,or stay in a time share in FL, or a free medical alert/notification necklace. It does not matter which button you push as it will only take you to the next "offer". Eventually, a male recorded voice tells you to "hang up". I'M SO DISAPPOINTED WITH HOME DEPOT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT I'LL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN! LOWE'S HAS JUST GAINED A CUSTOMER AND THEY GOT THE $1800 FLOORING JOB! FINAL UPDATE- I went thru my notes and called Jay Hutchins at the store as his was given to me as the "only person" who could get this charge off my bill. Within minutes I received a email receipt and a phone call from him notifying me that the charge had been removed. I thanked him and told him that I got the "run around" for almost 2 months. He apologized and said my issue was "unbelievable" because anyone could have processed the credit card mistake at the customer service desk in "seconds" with the order # and my credit card #. This information just reinforced my hypothesis that the Durham Home Depot Store are either lazy or incompetent. Perhaps, both. Guess I should have read some of these reviews before I purchased my new range and microwave from Home Depot. First I was offered a new power cord for $15. Since I had a perfectly good one at home I declined to buy a new one. But was never told that the delivery person would not put my old one on the new stove. The salesperson did tell me that it would cost $150 to install the new microwave that cost only a few dollars more than the installation cost. But that if I got a good delivery person and the bracket was the same they might put it on for me. The bracket was exacting the same but apparently I didn't have a good delivery person. Recently ordered an oven from Home Depot. We live in North Carolina. Was told it would be delivered today October, 25th between 1pm and 530 pm. My fiancé took work off in order to be here for the delivery and began calling Home Depot starting at 430. He called a total of 5 times from the span of 430-930. He was put on hold for a total of 200 minutes. At the end of everything (at now 10pm) he spoke with Melissa and still got no information about our delivery. It is very unclear to me why there would be no communication between the delivery folks and the "number to call with questions about your delivery". We are extremely disappointed in this abysmal customer service, and will be returning the oven and never using Home Depot for any product again. read more

In early September I contracted with Home Depot to replace the windows in my home. They arrived at the appointed time and did a wonderful job of installation. I was indeed very pleased. But then ... when one of the windows was cleaned a part in the track on which the windows ride came out. This was mid-October. I contacted the service department to report the problem on a Wednesday and was told I would receive a call on Friday ... No Call. I contacted the sales person on October 15th to request his help and he let his Project Manager know of the problem and asked for assistance. Nothing. I followed up on October 24th with the sales person and still no phone call from service. I will say that the sales person was as helpful as he could be but was getting NO support from the service department. I followed up again on October 27th and again on the 29th and finally received a phone call from the service department. Unfortunately, that was not helpful, still no call from service to come resolve the problem. I finally contacted the installer to ask for help and he was ultimately able to get me a call from the service department. They're scheduled to arrive this afternoon November 2. Why should it be so difficult to get service after a sale? I'm happy with the windows but I would NEVER recommend Home Depot to a friend because of the problem I've had getting service. 11/03/2016 - Update. Willy from Home Depot stopped by last night and fixed my problem in about 5 minutes. He was very pleasant and efficient. The best news was he gave me his personal number and welcomed me to call any time I experienced a problem. If I'd had more experiences like I did last night, I would not have been SO frustrated. read more

I attempted to enter this Home Depot using my (clearly marked for handicapped use ) mobility assistance device. It is a Segway, even specifically mentioned in the American Disabilities Act. An employee denied me entrance explaining that they do not let wheeled vehicles in the store. I pointed out that this is my mobility assistance device, and was clearly marked. She was denying my civil liberties, and discriminating against a disabled person, breaking federal law, I started filming. She called her manager. A manager showed up. I reminded him of his and the store's civil liabilities of denying a handicapped person access to the store. He said he would inform the employee. I pointed out that know one at the service desk knew the facts of disabled discrimination. I demanded and got an apology from the store. A clear example of this store's poor employee customer service training. Coincidently (or not) before entering the store, I had to use my camera to intimate a Humvee driver without handicapped status out of the only Handicapped spot available. read more
