THE Home Depot should be ASHAMED and EMBARRASSED by the Fairbanks store! Customer DIS-service and a "manager" who doesn't give a flip! We ordered fence panels online, paid, etc when the order was cancelled by the Fairbanks store. Were they out of stock? NO! The exact panels were sitting out front as we pulled up. We go in, pay for them, asked for help, it took over 30 minutes, a call to customer DIS-service, and me running in to find a "manager". Any REAL manager would have 1-apologized for the inconvenience of the order being cancelled rather than the blank stare I got. Then he would've walked his rear outside and helped himself rather than, "Let me find...". Corporate needs to take notice. Please do not trust Home Depot with any flooring installation. I purchased a significant amount of flooring from Home Depot. They sent 1 installer to my home to install carpet and plank. They told me they could do the job in 2 days. I took off work to accommodate them. After 2 days, one man working alone, the flooring was not done. The installation company told me that they needed 2 more days, but they could not make any promises. This is extremely poor service on the part of home depot. I don't usually waste my time giving businesses a bad rating, but in this case, I feel compelled to protect other consumers. Do not purchase flooring from Home Depot. They are dishonest and cannot be trusted to do what they say they will do. They also take advantage of women and treat women like they are 3rd class citizens. As a contractor in town, this store used to be our "go to" but the past few months its gone completely downhill. Shelves aren't stocked and aisles are full of inventory so you can't get a cart through. Staff is unhelpful, slow, and almost impossible to find. The overall condition of the store is terrible. Went to Home Depot to look for a garage door opener and one of the associate Kirsten that looks like just came in with her winter jackets in her arm, haven't even put down her stuff ask us if she can help us on anything. She helped us all the way. That day it helped our visit easy and faster because of Kirsten. We have experienced in home depot that a lot of times you we canot find anybody to help us or no associates around. But that day we appreciate Kirsten so much. Her service is outstanding. read more

Paint section is really lacking in variety and stock, the shelves are mostly bare. There is only 2 different types of chalk paint carried. Really disappointed and to top it off, the employees are tough to work with. They are not friendly nor helpful. read more

This Home Depot is a little harder to get to than Lowes but is just as good. I have found both stores to have cheaper prices at times. There are friendly, helpful staff willing to assist. This is Fairbanks so inventory is limited and not always readily available. read more

Toxic Products but Customer Service not concerned with Customer I purchased Rustoleum Countertop Paint about 5 months ago. Because it was winter and I could not open the windows i.e. -40 (I live in Fairbanks, AK), I waited until the weather warmed up in March. Because I'm not a moron, I donned my PPE, ventilated the house, and applied the countertop paint in a small area 2x3 ft. The fumes were noxious! They gave me a headache. My dogs refused to come in an eat-even the puppy and later on that night, the headache turned into nausea. After 3 days, the fumes still did not go away, dogs refused to come into the house and I had thrown up. The smell was horrendous, and I opened all the windows again to fumigate the house. I rounded up the plastic, paintbrush and the roller that I had put outside. The gloves I had worn were melted, the paintbrush melted, and the foam roller was disintegrating. I couldn't pour the chemicals down my septic nor could I dump it into the ground. I'm not OSHA certified and didn't want to take it to the Transfer Site in case someone else took it. What the hell! In an attempt to figure out what type of base (oil, water, latex....battery acid....) the countertop paint had, I did some research. Rustoleum had recalled several of the paints due to toxicity. I immediately called Rustoleum and the medical personnel and Rustoleum stated to return it to the store. I also brought the water that the brushes had soaked in, although I kept the brushes. Once I got into Home Depot, I explained the situation. I wanted to leave the toxic water there, they can deal with toxic chemicals, I cannot. I also wanted either my money back or a merchandise credit. I told them I knew they were not responsible for the countertop, but I just wanted my money back on the paint. Even the cashier could smell the fumes and the fumes were giving her a headache. The Paint Manager refused. She stated that they did not take back paint once it was tinted. They also didn't take it back now within 90 days of purchase. I stated that the sign above stated, "Please do not return items at this time. We will take items back within 180 days of purchase." I suggested we run my card to see if it was within the time frame. She said they didn't take back coloured paint. I wasn't complaining about the paint colour, only the fumes and stated Rustoleum told me to take it back because of several recalls. She refused to run my card and stated that if there had been a recall, they would have not sold it. 1. I wasn't concerned with the paint colour, I was concerned with the FUMES and the toxicity. 2. No one uses un-tinted paint, except to tint. So, to state that the paint cannot be returned if it is tinted is an oxy-moron. 3. No one is perfect and as I've worked retail, I know that sometimes items that are recalled get left out. Also, the state that Home Depot is not responsible for what they sell is ridiculous. Of course they are. They are responsible for every item, person under their care, and they are the middle man. They are not responsible for people using their products for actions not intended but there is a certain amount of responsibility for a toxic product that causes customers to vomit. 4. Her refusal to run my credit card so we could see when it was purchased was refusing me the opportunity to determine whether or not the return fit into the policy. I recognize that COVID effected a lot of returns but no one was attempting to take advantage of the situation. Plus, according to their sign, the item could have still been in the acceptable date. But, she refused to let the cashier run the card. 5. Finally, she said I was stuck with the paint. I told her I was not and that Home Depot could take care of the toxic paint. I would not take responsibility for it. I left it there. When staff REFUSE to let you see if your purchase is within the acceptable date, refuse to address the issue i.e. toxicity over the colour, and refuse to deal with customers as people instead of looking as if I'm attempting to swindle them out of the $60.00 (note: I was not asking them to replace my countertops but to address the toxicity of the items), that is called bad customer service. Basically, instead of working with the customer to come to a solution, she treated me as if we were in combat and she had a God-complex. Perhaps she didn't like my dreadlocks, or my dog, or my mask. Maybe she had a bad day and decided to take it out on a customer. I did not appreciate her refusal to see when I purchased the items, nor her lack of empathy towards another human being. I don't think she would have been fired for kindness nor written up because she was concerned for my health and welfare. Obviously, she didn't care, and because she represents Home Depot. We shop quite a bit at Home Depot. One thing with this Fairbanks store, is apparently people think it's a dam dog park to bring all their animals in with them.. Whether they are on a leash or not. This is a store for people. This is not PETCO. Iam contacting Home Depot Corporate office to lodge a formal complaint. I'm sorry but dogs have no place in a store that busy just because folks are lazy and can't leave their pets at home. 1/2 star is too much. Bait and switch practices going on here. Was a loyal HD customer until my last online order experience. Will have to learn where everything is in the other home-supply store in town. Ordered 4 bags (8 cubic ft) of soil. They could not get to the bags (still frozen in the snow) so they called to ask if they could replace with a superior product? Sure. At the same price? You betcha! That is the HD I used to know! I had never had an issue with them that they were not able to resolve, given the chance. Got to the store, and the superior product was 0.5 cubic foot LESS than the bags I ordered. I was short a total of 2 cubic ft. of product. I was told that the policy of the store is to "replace by piece" not by size. Beware. If you buy 5 gallons of paint that they say is in stock.....you could receive 5 pints of a paint they can get to...Rip off. I spent the better part of an hour trying to get them to resolve my concern. I was handed off to William, and he was also unable to resolve the issue. "Take what you have or we will give you a full refund. We had stopped looking for product once we knew that HD had what we needed in stock............................NOT! To top it all off, the product that they gave me as a replacement was MIS-LABELED in the store. It said it was 2.5 cubic ft per bag, when it was actually 1.5 cubic ft per bag. Something smells fishy on top of funny. THEN, I filled in comments about my experience on their website (they sent me an e-mail asking if I would comment). They took my comments down. They said they only wanted comments about the quality of the product I got, not the rip off that took place and the false advertising in the store etc. I will never step foot in that store again. read more

Everything was all good until we received our delivery of our fridge we purchased which was a month ago on June 16, 2017. Our service from the appliance associate wasn't 5 star rating. We weren't greeted by him, and only received service until we asked for help which he seemed reluctant to do. After we decided we were going to purchase from here, he started to put on his customer service face on and rang us up. There were still sale flyer price tags on the the refrigerators and we didn't take notice of the dates that it was good for. So, we picked our fridge out and the price did not add up because it was the non-sale price because the sale was over. Someone forgot to take the price tags off. Which he blamed his co-worker. So, he did honor the price tag and we finished he order up. Fast forward to today. We received excellent and professional service from the delivery company which is not associated with Home Depot. After the unboxing and placing it in the living room, we noticed it was grey. We ordered white, and were assured by the associate it was white and it was special ordered and would be delivered around July 10th. July 10th came and gone and we called to check the status and they told us to call back because they were busy. So, after the delivery, we tried calling to talk to an appliance associate and no one answered twice. Then we tried to call again to speak to a manager, we were asked to leave our number and for them to call us back. We decided to actually go to the physical store and speak to a manager. I guess we spoke with the actual store manager and he gave us the impression that it all was our fault. He didn't offer any type of compensation for our inconvenience like providing an upgrade to the warranty. He just basically said I fixed it here you go. So, we have to wait for another month - month and a half for the right color. I would probably not purchase another appliance from Home Depot. We have purchased all our other appliances from other stores in town and they have all had better customer service than this place. read more

Do not buy flooring here. I used these guys to take advantage of a no-interest promo. I think I would pay double not to have to go through this again. Nobody seems to know what's going on and there is no communication between store, customer, and installer. I have spent an enormous amount of time calling and going into the store to try to get things straightened out. The guy who did the quote forgot the underlayment so I have to go back to the store twice even though I paid extra for a professional measure and material delivery. I spoke to the assistant manager who had to fix one of their errors, but felt like my complaints fell on deaf ears. I have remodeled 11 homes and this has been the most frustrating project yet because of the incompetence at this store. read more

I've been working on my house for three seasons now and have come to accept that there are many unavoidable issues with living in Alaska. I try to plan ahead early and work with what I have in the situations where there are delays. I have never had any issues with the Home Depot that they were not able to resolve given the chance, much more so than box stores in the Lower 48! They work harder here for our business. And for all those who write hateful reviews and "will never take our business there again!", you should be thankful you have a choice up here and don't have to drive all the way to Anchorage or Canada for a choice in materials. A lot has changed with Home Depot in the past year and a half and I feel they are building a really good staff and relationship with the community. read more

If this store has a manager I think he fell asleep or died under a pile of junk in the aisle. He or she certainly isn't interested in running a clean and efficient store. This store always looks like it's just being set up or torn down. There are carts with stock on it and random things scattered through every aisle. It's a junk hole. And the lack of concern for customers can only be beaten by the DMV. I waited 20 minutes for someone to help me get a dishwasher. Just to show up and see which one I wanted. Everyone I asked for help had the same response, "it's not my job". Finally someone came. Then he left for 5 minutes to see if they had it in stock. By the time I was finally able to pay after I picked out the dishwasher, they refused to except my 10% off coupon because it was already on sale. What the heck does that have to do with anything? But I was so sick of waiting. Now I've waited 30 to have them bring it from the back. I'm still waiting. Not once has someone come by to ask if I need anything as I stand here next to the appliance kiosk by myself for almost an hour. They are too busy talking. There has constantly been a group of 3-6 cashiers just standing there doing nothing. If Lowes had the dishwasher in stock I'd have it installed already. If I hadn't already paid for it I would've walked out. I don't know why anyone would shop here. I sure won't ever again. read more

This Home Depot is always clean, the workers are friendly, and very helpful with my questions and items that I am looking for. The only compliant that I have is that they seem to change the policy on military discounts every time I'm at the cashier. One day it's here's the discount the other is we don't offer discounts to military. Pretty frustrating and they just need to get there story straight. read more

Kudos to Susan Sutton. She assisted me in the garden center. She pointed out to me containers of African Violets in full bloom as possible gifts for an event. She allowed me to choose 17 of my favorite violets for a great sale price; secured extra plastic to cover them and protect them from the cooler temperatures. Fairbanks Home Depot screws up orders constantly. Never ever special order anything from this store. In the last year they completely messed up two special orders for us. This time they double charged us, finally refunded one card, then the order never came. We are still waiting for our money back. We have no materials, we are out $200 and no one cares! We have called and been put on hold for long times, we visit the store and deal with managers and they promise to resolve it, and never do. Now they tell me they can't find a record of payment! They can't figure out the computer system, but worst they can't figure out how to treat a customer. Resolve the problem, pronto! With major discounts or free items. Get it fixed and deliver. They will lie to you, pretend they'll call you the next day, and won't. Don't shop here, ever! I don't think we will ever see our money or our product. We got shafted! read more

I purchased flooring from the Fairbanks Home Depot. It was a strugle from the get go. They were confused the whole time and did not seem to know anything about their products. Once Rays installation finally showed up, we found out Home Depot did not communicate the correct installation with Rays. Ended up being 9 boxes short of materials and was sold the wrong trim. So the project ended up going way over what I budgeted. Once my install was comlete there was a few spots that the planks did not get conected completly and have pulled away. Also Rays installers did not trim out one of the doors properly and so the door does not close. To top it all off I ordered special transistions for the door ways that were paid for but never ordered. Rays to hook me up and at least put in some generic transistions for me. Since then I have talked with everyone from the flooring associates all the way to the store manager. More pieces of the flooring have come apart, my door still does not close and the transistions are still not ordered. I have been calm and tried to work with the store manager. This has been going on for over 5 months. I call and then I am promised to get a return call by the end of the day. And never get a return call. This has happend 4 times. I am completely fed up with them and will never shop there again. My next step is to report it to better buisness bureau. Bottom line GO TO LOWES, better customer service hands down. read more
