Horrible customer service, I would give zero star if I could. Wasting time and money here for sure.

This review is for Home Depot on MLK Highway in Lanham, MD. Although I have occasionally found employees who have enough time to answer a question (usually 90-seconds...where can I find???) in most cases staff are not around. When there is a person who can give you the right direction on the 1st attempt, in 99% of the cases they have no knowledge of what is needed should you ask for help in making the purchase decision. Home Depot should pay higher wages to staff to get folks with experience. Not Home Improvement contractors/licensed professionals because then they can't keep prices reasonable, however, they can afford to find some folks with DIY knowledge at minimum. Why sell products geared towards home improvements if no one in the store can help? I recently purchased a bathtub and toilet. I believe the rep just recommended the 1st items that we came across. When the tub was initialed installed I noticed that it looked dirty but ignored it thinking its bad lighting. However, after using the tub only one time and using typically bathroom cleaners the stain was still present. I am not filthy and usually some over the counter cleanser will clean the tub this leads me to believe that I was sold a flawed tub in the first place. read more

Went around 6 pm on a Friday evening to get replacement air filters and appliance bulbs. One of the filter sizes needed was not available but we could see the unopened box on the shelf above our reach. We couldn't find any employees to assist us so I had to go up front to request help. We could hear someone requesting an employee to the aisle we were in over the speaker but no one came. After several times asking for assistance, we gave up, paid for what we could find. As we left we complained to the person standing by the self checkout. He just stood there looking clueless. read more

This Home Depot is in a convenient location and I frequent it often. Unfortunately, I find that many of the employees don't know anything about their department. In my experience, about one out of every five employees actually no where to find items or know how to help with a particular job. read more

"you can do i; we can help." that's the home depot motto, right? well, after my last visit t to this HD, i'm not so sure. i'm still willing to give them 3 stars because the store is always immaculate and well -stocked, and the staff is [almost always] helpful and friendly. they do a good job of consistently greeting customers, asking if you're finding everything ok, do you need any assistance, etc. and there's plenty of them; all you have to do is look up and you can find an orange apron nearby if you have a question. this has been my experience whenever i've gone for paint & painting supplies, tools, plumbing parts/advice, home decor, and odd job supplies. but on my last visit, which was also my first time frequenting the garden/landscaping/outdoor section, i was disappointed, annoyed, and almost offended. first and foremost, it seemed as if the ENTIRE staff in that section had no clue about its contents beyond "the soil is over there and the pots are that way." the section is huge, by the way. as first time gardeners, my girlfriend and i had done a significant amount of research and even attended a couple classes [elsewhere] before taking the plunge. we had our lists of items to purchase, and a couple of questions, and were ready to plunk down a good amount of cash at home depot so we could get started. out of the seven HD employees we asked for help in the section, NONE knew ANYTHING about gardening. one was honest from the jump in telling us that she didn't know and attempted to get us someone who did. two made pitiful attempts to fudge it but it became clear, quickly, that even as novices we knew more than them, and THREE only attempted to come help us so they could come flirt. WTH! (yeah, yeah, i know. no one wants to hear "oh, woe is me...my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard." but we really wanted help with, well, the yard! not horrible pick up lines in lieu of answers to gardening questions. ugh!) and the 7th one? the one ms. honest got for us when she couldn't help? he said he was getting something for a customer and would "be right back" to help us. yeah...he never returned (we waited in that aisle for a LONG time). so...lesson learned. do not patronize HD for gardening items, and certainly not gardening help, unless you already know exactly what you need and only require the service of the cashier and/or the muscle of an orange apron to get the goods into your car. we went up the street to frank's garden center for soil and a few other items, and GREAT advice on gardening from very knowledgable folks. we got the big build-a-bed kit for the garden bed and a few other large items that frank's doesn't sell, at HD. and we did it...with the home depot supplies but with FRANK'S help. read more

Terrible. Customer service is non existent and they have zero shame about it. I spoke the manager and the store is understaffed. The staff they do have their are super sketchy and clueless. Too bad Lowes is their only competition. read more

Ok. I barely use Yelp anymore. But I had to share a great customer service experience at this Home Depot that I had recently. I had a slightly unreasonable request I should mention. Yet, Aleshia at the customer service desk went above and beyond to help me get the item that I needed that was not in store. It took about a few days for it to be said and done, but she helped greatly and even when I came in for an unrelated project, she still remembered me and followed up from the order before. Her and Shaquanda are outstanding providers of customer service and I wanted them to be recognized. Working in retail (and any other service industry) is hard but its great to see people who still have spirit in them. I will continue to shop at Home Depot for my projects. read more

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. I will never in my life order a thing from this store after my horrendous experience with them. I ordered a significant amount of pavers and things to build an outdoor patio from them; they never delivered half of them and have not credited us for the amount of items they did not deliver. Its been 3 weeks and is still not resolved; they still owe us over $500 from this and refuse to return calls or get it resolved. Never again! read more

Lanham Home Depot store has no service in their departments between the hours of 6.00-9.00am. I visited the store this morning to purchase a freezer. Although there was someone sitting in that area he made 2 announcements for assistance for me 15 minutes later nobody showed up. I grab the ticket price from the freezer I needed and headed to the customer service desk. A manager was paged and eventually showed up after 12 minutes. She couldn't use the computer at the service desk and had to walk back to the appliances department. I was told to go back to the appliance department and meet the manager while walking up to the desk she's on her phone writing a text instead of looking for the item needed. The workers appear to be walking around with no urgency to assist customers. But then again if the manager is illustrating that type of customer service why will they perform any better. The guy at the desk in the appliances area said nobody is on the schedule until 9.00am. I guess they should open their store at 9.00am and not 6.00am. read more

I can't decide if I love or hate this Home Depot. I do shop there a lot, and have always been satisfied with the actual merchandise I come home with. And sometimes, I get really good customer service. But other times, I'm left wondering how the place even stays open. One time, I was in the garden center and while I was shopping, I stepped on the rusty nail that was sticking straight up through a broken pallet. It went through my shoe and into my foot. Yes, I suppose I should have looked where I was going. But it was in the aisle. OK, accidents happen. But when I told the garden center employee, they were like "oh, sorry about that". I asked, um do you have a first aid kit? I'm bleeding! "No, you'll have to try customer service." After hobbling in, I wandered in, waited in a short line, and then finally was given some hydrogen peroxide and a band-aid. That was it. They didn't take my name, ask if I needed anything, etc. Nothing. I ended up at the urgent care later on my own dime to get a tetanus shot. That's the kind of service you can expect there, even if you are not lucky enough to step on a nail. If there is not a button for it, they don't know how to press it. read more

Don't shop here. Go to Bowie Lowes for better customer service. Employees are lazy busy talking to themselves instead of helping customers especially Faith and Lorna. It's lucky if you see a staffed cashier open, instead, they usualy have only self checkout available. Merchendise is piled all over the floors and Home Depot App Merchendise locator isn't accurate. Merchendise here is always out of stock or misplaced that it's impossible finding anything you are looking for. This store is a shame for the community. Home Depot is always inferior to Lowes, but this one sure proves Lowes is a better place to shop. read more

I'm an avid DIYer and so I frequent Home Depot. I live in Landover and so I have a few that are near my home. If your talking mulch, this store keeps plenty in stock. The stock is not the issue...Customer Service is however. The garden section seems to be overwhelmed but Kudos to the guys who load your items and take them to your vehicle...they are great! I went to purchase a new screened door and the one gentleman helping another customer pointed to where I could find them, though I never did and refused to help me. Money lost for HD. Yesterday, against my better judgment I ordered items online at 1pm thinking I could pick them up on my way in from work. After researching this particular location had all of the items I needed, 18 in all. The website said orders usually take 2 hours and DO NOT arrive until I get a text and/or email notification. By 7pm I was calling the store and kept being placed on hold. I tried to call back and speak w/ a manager to no avail and now after reading the previous reviews I regret my purchase. My project is being stalled and I have a strict deadline!!!! This is the Home Do Not!!!!! read more

Customer service is extremely bad. Occasionally you will come across a helpful employee however the overall work environment is a nonchalant, "not my job to do that", walk around the store to appear busy, the person you need to speak to is on break, type of place. If you can avoid I recommend to please do so. Very lazy employees. read more

Today my tenant was verbally disrespected with profanity by the home depot delivery service which is a partnership with General Electric and Towne Air Freight. The profanity used was so aggressive my tenant wanted to call District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department and file charges against the delivery driver. Furthermore, i still do not have the washer dryer stackable I purchased for $1,100 +dollars. What befuddles me is nobody in Home Depot's customer service unit can answer any questions as to who the driver is, what his name is, or where he is with the product I purchased. The delivery driver bolted from the delivery site, did not want to install washer/dryer and cursed my tenant. I would advise anybody doing business with home depot to purchase appliances seek an alternative. The gentleman was abrasive and disrespectful and scared my tenant. I suggest Home Depot invest in customer care training for those they send in the field or require their third party delivery paartnership who performs this function to require this of their delivery people. Home Depot I found doesnt even have in house delivery they pass that off to the manufactuer, and allow the manufactuer to partner with mom and pop delivery companies who have no stake in making sure we as paying customers are serviced properly. Towne Air Freight has no decorum and come in your business or home and act as if they are on a street corner in Compton practicing gang warfare. I've probably had one bad customer service experience since shopping at this store and I just think the employee was having a bad day. Earlier this year I was renovating my bathroom and decided to stop through this Home Depot for supplies and materials. Not only was I asked by multiple employees if I needed help but the manager took me around the store and helped me pick out all materials. I'm now working on my second bathroom and decided last night to run to this store to see if they had any deals on vanity cabinets. Found one on clearance but it was still attached to the store display metal rack. The employees working that section went above and beyond to detach the cabinet, detach the faucet, clean the cart off (it was raining and the cart was wet), helped me load it in my car and they gave me an additional $20.00 off the clearance item. I've also had the same store manager whom I dealt with during my first project and three other employees help me load my truck up with materials I purchased about two months ago. They made sure I didn't have to lift a thing! I've been to other Home Depot stores and this one is by far my favorite. read more
