How have I not written a review for Home Depot yet?! This place has literally countless times saved my life. Exaggerating but it has grossly benefited my life. Need a new sink head because yours accidentally got chopped off? Check. Need a huge extra strength rotating amazing fan without blades because you have cats and it's a 100 degree heat wave? Check. Garbage bags, cleansing stuff, light bulbs, bug spray, roach bait. Everything a New York city apartment truly needs at your finger tips. They also have a decent selection of plant life to spruce up your place if that's your jam. I will say, almost every time I need help finding something an employee is already attending to helping someone else. Maybe it's a timing thing. But anyway the place is huge (which is unheard of in the city) and its fantastic in every way, shape, and form. read more

I have to say, this is easily the nicest, most unique Home Depot I have ever visited. It's located right in the heart of the Flatiron/Chelsea area and spreads across three beautifully maintained floors. What really stands out is the atmosphere, it doesn't feel like your typical warehouse. The garden section is gorgeous, filled with plants and trees that make the store feel surprisingly airy for being in the middle of a city block. Very impressed by the selection of items being fully stocked in all departments. The store feels more like a "boutique" hardware shop, than what you'd find in a standard suburban location. The service here is top-notch. Giving special thanks to Rachel in Plumbing! Ask for her, she is actually more knowledgeable about the products to fix plumbing issues. Thank you Rachel for fixing my plumbing issue. Unlike some larger stores where you're just a number, the associates here are everywhere. I was asked several times if I needed help, and when I did, they didn't just point me to an aisle--they walked me directly to the product. Even though it's Manhattan, the prices are consistent with their website and aren't hiked up. This store has plenty of self-checkout kiosks, no waits or long lines. Solid Home Depot, agree with some other reviews that the staff here are friendly, helpful and professional. I came by to make a return pretty late on a Saturday evening around 8pm, the store was pretty dead in terms of traffic, a couple people walking around here and there. I'm not as familiar with the layout of this location so it took me a minute to get my bearings--this is the only location to my knowledge that has both a terrace level along some parts of the wall on the first floor and a basement/ground floor (lower level being larger). They really pack the square footage of product into this space, which is only about 1/5 the square footage of a suburban HD store, though bc of this they also have limited inventory of certain items. Saw an info kiosk unmanned, but following a couple signs it was easy to find the check out/guest services area. With a minimal line, the staff was quick to ask how I was doing then, process my return expediently. One negative I'll mention is aside from a little street parking in the neighborhood, or at the structure behind the store, there's no convenient parking outside of the store if you have larger items to transport. (And while the store itself is ok, don't let me get started on delivery or renovations work...while I haven't had experience directly with this store on these two things, I'm forever put off by the ridiculousness that is HD's home delivery service...though that's a story for another day.) read more

I know Home Depot is always in the suburbs where it needs a lot of space on its own with the parking lot and garden nursery section. Cannot believe that Hone Depot is in Manhattan in Chelsea where it does not have space at all! I'm surprised they found space to built one. There is a basement level where all the plants and paint section is at with lots of kitchen and bathroom pieces. The cleaning supplies are also in the basement. The lighting fixture and furniture installation is upstairs. This place got lots of self checkout kiosks and many in person checkout stations. Home Depot also has its own orange shopping tote bag where you got to pay extra. It is a very sturdy bag. Just looks weird and has a flimsy shape. There's no parking in this location but you got the R, W, F, M, and 6 train stations nearby. read more

This is a gorgeous HD store right in the heart of Flatiron area. It spreads over three floors. Very clean. Upper floor mostly has electronics, sales and management offices. Beautifully decorated with plants and trees, a rare sight for any HD. First floor has the customer service, Pro project desk and checkout. Lower floor is the largest floor among all. Throughout the store they have incredible number of products, with lots of variety in inventory. Lots of associates are walking around the store, some are always available in the customer service desk. Products are priced same as the prices on their website, it's not hiked up despite the store being in the city. I have walked into the store several times for different needs like making copies of keys, buy scissors, paper tape, glue and bunch of other things time to time. Please read before buying LG! We bought an LG washing machine, replacing our old LG (10 year warranty). After a short few months it started to destroy our clothes. It first accord after washing our sheets. They looks like some sharp object would be in the drum and pull strands out of the fabric. We checked the drum, stroked over every inch with our hands, used cotton balls to see if anything stuck - nothing! I called customer service (we ordered our washer directly from LG). They told us to run the drum clean cycle 5 times in a row (that's 7.5 hours!) that should solve the problem. We did and the next load of laundry had the same problem. We called LG again, send them pictures as requested, were told they investigate and call back. They never did. Today was the 6th time I called and also send an email to the president. After telling them that I will write this review and post it everywhere I was asked by the supervisor if I use the right cycle to wash my laundry. I am 69 years old and know how to do laundry. Finally I was told he would pass it on to their service center which will contact me to find out if it is a manufactory defect. This goes on now for over 6 weeks. The service center contacted us via text and asked what are the defective parts - how am I supposed to know? The next message was they reach out if they have someone available. I would stay away from LG which is hard to say because we have LG everywhere from fridge to TVs but if something is wrong it is the worse customer service you ever experience. read more

For these quick trips, two things matter: ease of finding what you need and, to a lesser extent, price. Home Depot is consistently competitive on pricing compared to Amazon, Lowe's, or your local hardware store. However, this location falls short on ease of finding your items. Aisle numbering is confusing, staff are hard to find, and inventory might be in the store but not on display. I usually check first if I can safely buy the item on Amazon without risking a return. If not, I check their website to see if this store lists the item with an aisle and bay location. Ordering online for locker pickup at the entrance is a great option to avoid wandering the aisles--and falling for impulse buys: going in for a pipe hanger and leaving with a hanger, LED bulb, cleaning fluid, and measuring tape you didn't plan to buy. read more

Home Depot on 23rd Street absolutely blew my mind. This place is massive -- a two-story store that literally has everything you can think of. What stood out the most to me was the staff. Unlike many other businesses that hire mostly younger workers just to cut costs, this location has more experienced employees who are respectful, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. I only recently discovered this location, and I've already been back multiple times just because I loved the experience so much. Was amazed to see this located in the middle of a large city block. The employees were very good and attentive to my needs. Almost every aisle there was an employee asking if I needed help finding anything. We do not have this kind of attention at the California stores I usually go to! I met the store manager and he was great and appreciative of my compliments to the cleanliness and experience. In particular, Yamuna (hope I am spelling correctly) was very helpful, walking me several aisles to help me find what I was looking for.. This Home Depot is decent. However, there are better options. This Home Depot lacks variety despite having multiple floors. I will say the worker's are friendly and willing to help you with what you're looking for. However, there is chance that what you're looking for is not here because of the lack of selections. I have never given a review of a hardware store before. This Home Depot on 23rd St. is fabulous for service and products. Every employee asked if I needed help. They guided me to each section and help me find the things I needed. Near the front door there is also an "Information Desk" which helps and there is another greeter as you walk in. I needed paint special mixed. The lady behind the paint counter was very nice. She not only mixed the paint. She asked me if she could send me the formula to me to keep on my phone & my email, for future re-painting. The man in the tools department told me how to monitor my refrigerator and where to buy the refrigerant. The checkout line was very small and you can do self check out. There is someone there to help you if you need it. The return department was also very fast. read more

Honestly, the main culprit here is HD's crappy inventory database. But some of the employees also seem clueless, and there's clearly little motivation to actually help a customer out. I trekked to the store because online the item I needed was marked as low stock, but available in store. The guys at the front said that it's seasonal and not available at all, but directed me to where I might find more help. An employee looked it up on the store database, where it said there were 2 in stock, but not where they could be found. He got another employee to try to help me find it. No luck. In the process at least 3 more employees were recruited for the task. One just shook her head skeptically and said that, regardless of what the databases/inventory says, they're not there. Another guy said, they might be there but slated for return to the warehouse, in which case he couldn't sell it to me (really?!?! That's insane. Surely HD would rather sell the item than pay to ship and store it again). Eventually, we did find some similar items -- the 2 guys in the front didn't know what they were talking about, because the store still carried some of the same type of thing -- but not the one I needed. That's 7 employees, with 5 different stories, and no good results at the end. What I learned: unless something is in stock and marked with a specific in-store location online, don't bother. NEVER purchase installation from Home Depot. Complete incompetence. Here's my story. Bought a dishwasher to be installed. Crew shows up. Spent a half hour, only to tell me that they can't turn off the water, I need to call a plumber. 5 min after they left, I had the water off. Second try: worked on it for a half hour, only to tell me they can't figure out how to remove the old dishwasher from the cabinet. I said fine, then take the new one, it's doing me no good in the middle of my kitchen. They said I would have to call Home Depot to send someone to take away the new one. Fine. 5 mins after they left, I had the old dishwasher out of the cabinet. It was two screws. Easy to find Third try. All they have to do now is hook it up. "Oh, you don't have an outlet behind the dishwasher". Showed them in the instruction manual how to hardwire the appliance. "Oh, we can't do that" So in summary, if you want to pay someone $179 to plug an appliance into an outlet, by all means, these are your guys. Anything more complicated, do it yourself or buy from another company. By the way, dishwasher itself was fine, and customer service refunded the delivery. read more

They really do have everything you could need at this location. The prices are great, especially if you're looking for cleaning supplies, paint, or fresh plants. Much cheaper than the local hardware store or CVS/Duane Reade etc. Self check out makes it quick and easy to get in and out. I will say I was trying to get a copy of a key made and they were not able to make the specific key I had. But got all my cleaning supplies! read more

Considering its central location, this 23rd St. Home Depot is really only good to shop in if you already know what you're going to buy, checking on their website or app, and find what you're purchasing competitively priced. (If you want great expertise and a helpful team, go to Nuthouse Hardware on E. 29th St - a super local business! It's also open 24/7!) All too frequently, Home Depot's 23rd St. associates on the floor are chatting with each other and can't even point you to the right aisle. Case in point, the other week three of their floor team were talking when I approached them asking where were fruit fly traps. They pointed me to the wrong aisle, off in the wrong direction, when it was actually 2 aisles off from where they were standing. On another trip, I saw in the app that they had 48 units of 10 yard Gorilla Tape. When I arrived at the aisle, there was only 30 yard roll of that tape, both on shelf and stacked in an aisle display, where they advertised a price drop. Calling over the associate for that aisle, I asked about the whereabouts of the 10 yard rolls. Either he was hearing impaired, half asleep or on medication, but only after 3 times specifying the 10 yard size - he responded (potentially dazed) showing me the 30 yard rolls. I repeated that I was looking for the 10 yard option that appeared to be plentiful in store, per the app. He then said, well if it isn't on the shelf, they don't have it... then walked away. (Guess those 48 rolls must be phantom stock?) On top of that, after grabbing a 30 yard roll, it didn't ring at the register as the advertised price drop. Note - Having a pic of the price drop tag, the cashier without hesitation honored that price. One last point - It's 2024, so why don't any Home Depots take Apple Pay?! read more

Glad there is one in the city - convenient location and fairly big with upstairs and downstairs. Staff is friendly and will help you if you need to find something quick. Since I was wanted to be in / out quick, that's what I did. Aisles are numbered. Besides the usual items, there are seasonal items as well. Nice little plant section downstairs. A lot of cool things I noticed and will have to come back when I have more time. Check out is easy too - can either go to a cashier or do self-checkout... If you forget to bring a shopping bag, you can purchase Home Depot re-usable one for $2+. they have it right as you head towards check out and the self check out counters... read more

I don't know why this store has only 3 stars-I had the MOST amazing experience here with every single person I met, particularly Dee. I was moving my daughter into her first tiny NYC apartment and needed some space saving floating shelves. I went to customer service to see if someone could help me. Dee walked me through the shelving department, figured out which and how many brackets I needed and screws. She then took me to the window covering department to pick out a shade and explained how to measure the window. She introduced me to dimming light bulbs-very cool. In all of the departments we visited experts helped us make good choices on what to purchase. I wish I remembered all of their names to give them kudos-including the lovely lady at check out and the man who helped me to my car. I asked if I could tip him and Dee and they both declined and thanked me for the sentiment. What an absolutely pleasant shopping experience!! Loved the service!! read more

Having a Home Depot in the city is definitely useful, they have a lot of different supplies and materials appropriate for City folk. Much less of a lumber or large project items, but definitely a lot of fixtures and internal fix items including doors and lights and some digital security which is a small but growing part of their inventory . Majority of their items are downstairs, with the checkout being on the first floor. Big carpets and paint are also on the first floor. Well they didn't have the camera I wanted in stock, it was an interesting look at in the city how you manage to do hardware. It definitely surpasses the mom and pop shop for supplies, but it is a little hard to find things. Some of their displays had useful items like caulk, but then you had to go figure out where they put the caulk guns which was not so useful given they were in a very different part of the store. read more

Placed an order online for a cabinet - 10 days later the wrong cabinet arrived. Had to re- order & pay again & another 10 days later the same WRONG CABINET arrived. There is really an inexcusable problem. I had to pay porters out of pocket to bring these items to my apartment 2x's & then again to my receiving department to be returned. Do yourself a favor & don't order online from them. Ordered a gallon of paint - the can says"pick up a spout at checkout". Of course, they didn't send one with the paint! Think it will be Lowe's from now on!!! read more

Beautiful exterior and well organized 3 levels (maybe more) of retail space. Staff was very friendly upon entering asking if I needed help finding anything. Also there seemed to be staff consistently in each section and let me know they were happy to help. Really nice to have this in middle of Manhattan. Everything you need from paint, garden, tools, lumber. Only disappointing thing is I called for AC unit I saw online and they said on the phone 5 left in stocks, came 10 minutes later and they didn't have any. Could have been FAR better! I generally like Home Depot, so I hope this lukewarm review only reflects temporary issues related to the branch on 1st Avenue having opened just a short time ago. First, only one of the two elevators was functioning. Which would have been ok, except at least half of the escalators were not functioning either. I needed two items. I asked an assistant where I could find one of them. She was VERY nice, but her answer was (essentially) 'it's either waaaay over there, or waaaaay over in the other direction.' Polite, but totally missing the point. I don't want to go waaaaay over there only to find that it's actually waaaaaay in the other direction. So, nice employee, next time say 'let me find out for you - just a moment.' (And by the way, most of the employees at the now closed 59th Street store could always tell me exactly where to find everything, so bone up a little on your merchandise, please.) The item I was looking for is listed on the Home Depot website. But when I got there, I was told the store didn't carry that brand at all, but I could order it online. YES - I could order it online, but I needed it NOW, I live within walking distance of the store, and I could have carried it home. What sense does it make to have one warehouse person find it for me and put it in a (wasteful) box with padding, have another employee put it on a gas guzzling truck, and have yet another employee deliver it to my home so it arrives at best the next day, when I was right in the store and I would have circumvented all those extra steps - steps that affect Home Depot's bottom line? Not to mention I wasted my time on a fruitless trip. Not to mention that although the model I wanted is only available online, there were literally FORTY-EIGHT other (more expensive) models shown on the floor. read more

Never, ever arrange to get anything delivered through this store on 23rd Street. It was a complete failure for us. This morning a very expensive Bosch dishwasher was delivered to our apartment. The plumber who came with the delivery guy said he could not install it until he purchased a little gadjet (that would cost 5 dollars at a hardware store) but he would charge us $125 and return tomorrow. They left the large dishwasher sitting in our kitchen. They told us to call the office to find out what time they would return . We called several times, and were kept on hold forever. both agents said we would have to hire our own plumbers for the installation. they did not believe us when we told them that a plumber came with the delivery guy! We called again to say that this was completely unacceptable and we wanted them to pick up the machine and receive a full refund including the excessive $250 installation fee. Another call that took forever. We remain in the dark as to when they will return to pick up the uninstalled dishwasher and when we will get a refund Do not purchase any large appliance from this horrible store on 23rd street. Update: So crazy- our doormen said that the same two men (delivery guy and so-called plumber) were waiting outside in their truck for an hour this morning. They never came into the building or tried to contact us. I just hope the dishwasher will be picked up , as promised, tomorrow. read more

It was hard finding someone to help me but once i did they did help me find what I was looking for.

I was visiting NYC during new year to see my son who is a university student here. He and his friends wanted Chinese hot pot very badly on the New Year's Eve. I walked a few shops and finally was able to see something close to work as substitute as a hot pot and bought it. The shopping lady there was very nice helping checking and wrapped up for ease of carry as I was walking back to the hotel. Later in the evening however we were able to find a real hot pot and had to return the one bought at Home Depot after our one week vacation out of town. The whole process was very satisfying, even when I happened to lose the receipt on the way. The lady at customer service quickly worked out with my credit card. Went back today again to buy an electric screwdriver. The guy there was about to tell the exact number of isle where I was able to find the item with the help of the shopping assistant. Everyone working there seemed to be so well trained and familiar with the business and it felt as though they had always worked there and for many years. My first experience shopping and so positively impressed by the service. read more

However, after trying numerous times I were unable to get verified. The app that I was give never got back to me and never yea or nayed my status.
