Great place if you know exactly what you need. Don't expect much help from employees and if you do get help it may not be the correct kind. Also We had flooring installed through Home Depot. Went to Home Depot last night. I bought 2 boxes of solar yard lights. Good thing I bought 2. What are the odds of this. One box was missing one stake with stand. The other box was missing one light. Worked out perfect for me. Still short one, but 11 will still be plenty. The checker was in her 20's and seemed very happy to be working there and was quite accurate in scanning every item, which I ask if I think an item was missed. One customer service guy went out of his way to ask if I had a question, which is refreshing since during the day it can be more difficult to find help. read more

They have everything you could ever want or need, but on my last 2 visits the apron clad employees I encountered to inquire as to were I may find the items I needed had no idea were to find them. Last time I was there I followed an employee around just to find out that they were looking for another employee who would then lead me to my destination. It was a bit frustrating. read more

It doesn't get much worse! I paid Home Depot $1,300 for a refrigerator that does not work. I tried to call Home Depot only to discover there is no customer service extension, so after being on hold and being disconnected I finally got to the appliance department. And what do you suppose was the response to the fact that I have about $300 worth of food that had to be thrown out due to the freezer and refrigerator not functioning, but never mind that I paid Home Depot for the refrigerator, it now becomes my problem, and too bad about the food, I suppose I should find consolation in the comment that,"all refrigerators have lemons." Wasn't that reassuring!? So I am told, call the delivery people, but I did not purchase the refrigerator from the delivery people. This leaves me to deal with this fiasco because there is no customer service at Home Depot. Never mind that they sold me the refrigerator. And of course so what if I have to wait for nearly a week to get another refrigerator, that may or may not work. Let's be honest, I approached the purchase of a refrigerator from Home Depot with apprehension, knowing with experience that Home Depot is not customer service oriented; you know, the horrors of the "big box" store that many of us have experienced. What I expected was service, customer service, assistance with the fact that I purchased a defective item from Home Depot. I did not purchase the item from the delivery people. Instead, Home Depot took my money and washed their hands of the sale. Needless to say, I will never again purchase any sizeable item from Home Depot, and any other small items I may purchase I know will be a crap shoot, but the loss will not be as great. The loss in this case is $300 plus the loss of a refrigerator for a week, maybe Home Depot would like to credit me for my loss incurred as a result of my purchase from Home Depot. Or maybe I should just take my grocery receipts to small claims court. read more

I bought a new riding mower and when I came to pick it up they had. No idea where the manual was or the keys. I was told I would get help loading it so when I went in to let them know I was here to pick it up, the crew that came out to load it seemed 'put out ' that they had to give some customer service. It took six people to find the keys to unlock the mower from the security chain and then, they said you'll have to print a manual. I politely said said, "No, I would like to leave here with a manual please." Again, they seemed annoyed. No wonder people always tell me to shop at Lowe's. Long gone are the days of true customer service. Purchase was already purchased earlier in the day, this was a pick up only. Btw, it was 7 at night, the store was a ghost town yet it still took over thirty minutes to finally get all their ducks in a row until they could finally get it together enough to load. Then it took another 15 to get enough help to get it done. Oh, I wont know until I get it home and run it, but if the blade is bent, it was because they just jammed the mower up and over the ramps and rammed the tailgate. So frustrating. read more

Sunday afternoon Home Depot Store shopping experience sucks...especially trying to pay...1 check stand open 5 people in line. Ten minutes later same five still there. Self serve finally had a spot empty. I get there to be told it was being used. It was free but there was a person at the broken one ...not taking cash payments ...so I got bumped for their convenience. I was figuring on paying with cash originally myself. I realized all retail stores are horrible because employees don't get paid enough ( I worked at lowes) but this Home Depot is the worst. I've been in the store several times since moving to the area and no one knows what is going on. No one can help, even in their own department. And I'm not writing this review because I'm angry. This is simply a lack of management I can see in the store. Cashiers were working alone and had no idea how to ring me up. Customer service told me to go to appliances. Appliances told me to go to customer service. No one apologizes for their ignorance and I'm annoyed I had to buy an appliance here. Home Depot couldn't rush my order for an emergency (lowes can rush any appliance) and my delivery date is still so far away. One interaction with employee Tara, was simply and quick and she knew what she was doing. That is, once I got to talk to a human being after being on hold 20 minutes. I signed up to take a DIT class.. as a courtesy, i found out 72 hrs in advance i would not be able to take it and wanted to let the store know in case that would provide space for someone else; however, i was put on hold ( call probably directed to outer space) for 15 minutes x2.. the reality is , do not expect to speak with a live person at this store. read more

I went in to get a quote on my countertop installation due to I couldn't get no one to answer the phone for an appt. I waited and was transferred 3 times. After no one picked up the phone I went down in person. A women was sitting on the phone at her desk, and then turned around and said "if your my 1:30 appointment your early", I said no I am not I just wanted a quote for my kitchen plans. She didn't smile, she didn't say hi how can I help you, and didn't ask first nicely are you my 1:30. I proceeded to say I tried to make an appt, but couldn't get through. She then proceeded rudely and said " oh sorry about that I don't know what to tell you", and then said she didn't have any appointments until a week, I said no I would have to pass. She turned and started talking to her co-worker and completely ignored me and never said thank you good bye sorry I couldn't help nothing. I would have to say very rude how she handles her customers coming in to ask questions. Due to her bad customer service Home Depot lost a potential good customer that was going to spend a lot of money on kitchen countertops. I would not go here to get your countertops, unless you like to be treated very poorly. read more

Home Depot's have there problems but this one in Redding is special. It is the only Home Depot in Redding so everyone seems to go there sooner or later for the prices. The problems start to show in the staff who seem to be burned out most of the time, especially at the customer service desk. Staff do not know where items are in the store and they know it, so they may avoid you because you look lost, or they have seen that you have spent a lot of time going up and down the aisles. Nothing special here. If I am out of Redding and have an opportunity to go to the local Home Depot, I will do so, because any store is better than the one we have in Redding, and that is setting the bar pretty low. read more

Went in early this morning to look for items needed to "stain" the cement in my laundry room. I knew what I wanted to do, but didn't know what products to choose or how to go about it. James in the paint department went above and beyond explaining that I wanted a dye, not a stain and how I can use two different ones to get the look I wanted to achieve. He was patient and friendly and I so appreciated his knowledgeable input. read more

I'm a retired contractor and I must have made similar orders a thousand times before without a problem. But my experience at Home Depot was a new one for me. I ordered 5 replacement windows and 2 doors for an enclosed porch. Nothing special or difficult involved. My order arrived on time, so I picked it up, and took it home. The window jambs are too deep/wide and pieces were cut wrong on the one door, so called Home Depot. I was told to go ahead and install them, the "Window Doctor" will easily take care of the jambs, and the new parts for the door are ordered. This was the first of many many promises. Did I say many? I had visits by people who weren't very knowledgeable and by people with lame solutions, i.e., "Make the trim really really big and then you won't see it." I was constantly handed off to yet another manager (I now think that Home Depot doesn't have any workers, because they are all managers of some sort or another.) The Top Manager avoided me, never returned a phone call or answered a page when I was at the store. The rest of the time he was in a meeting, or so I was told. I actually tracked him down in the store one day by looking at every name tag. I found him by himself stocking a shelf. Was he hiding? Back at my house I had new people taking pictures and measurements. Windows were supposedly reordered, but never seemed to come. I received several special orders of parts that were never intended to be used on my door. The "Window Doctor" did not want to drive all the way to Palo Cedro, so he never came at all. All in all this went on for over 7 months. No kidding! No exaggeration! I finally got ahold of Home Depot Corporate in Atlanta, and the lady sent me a legal document to sign, saying that they would get me new windows and door, however I could not take them to court or be compensated for the delays or costs associated with the multiple installations. I had the windows and doors removed and returned them to the store for a refund. I haven't been back to the Redding Home Depot since. Everything I have reported is true and I have it all well documented. So if Home Depot, Russ or one of his many managers want to publicly try and dispute this, now is the time to "Man-Up." I apologize to the many lady managers I have had the occasion to meet as a result of my bad Home Depot experience. read more

On the eve of Pearl Harbor Day, an 80 yr old friend, and veteran of WW2, bought a substantial amount of flooring from this store. When he arrived at the checkout, he noticed a sign which stated that veteran discounts were available. When he inquired about the discount, the clerk, who didn't know how it worked, asked for the manager. Five minutes later, the manager showed up, slapped a laminated sheet of military ID's on the counter, and without making any eye contact, said, "These are the ones we accept. I don't have time for this", and promptly walked away. This embarrassing behavior by a Home Depot store manager is totally unacceptable, and an apology is due to the WW2 frogman, who was merely inquiring as to a stated offer. If this is the way Home Depot is going to treat us veterans, I'll be taking my business, and that of my friends and family, to Lowes from now on. The overwhelming majority of employees at this store, and at this company, are good people, and this one manager's behavior needs to be culled from an otherwise professional operation. DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE until this event is rectified. read more

The customer service I received from Home Depot is the worst I have ever experienced. You don't just go through Home Depot, they contract out companies to install and because of this there was a HUGE communication issue. No one new anything about my order, when they would receive it, or when it would be delivered. Home Depot said contact the other company, the other company said contact Home Depot. When I initially placed the order they told me one week, two weeks later I called and the woman told me the actually have everything they were just waiting to deliver it. I said were you guys ever going to call me?? And she said I don't know how long we've had it. I scheduled a delivery and the next morning I got another call saying she misspoke and they're missing 20 cases from my order. They offered to deliver what they had. I said no I need my entire order so cancel my delivery and call me when you get the rest. THEY STILL DELIVERED HALF MY PRODUCT AFTER I REQUESTED IT BE CANCELLED. Another week went by and I heard nothing, so I called again. They said they could see a shipment coming in but they have no idea when it will get there but they should know in two days and will call to keep me updated. I never received a call. Three days later I get a call from Home Depot saying they are 5 minutes away from my house with the rest of my product. I work nights so at 8am I am sleeping. They NEVER called to let me know the product was there, and they never called to set an agreed upon time for delivery. Which resulted in the delivery driver coming to my house and leaving because I didn't answer his call. When I woke up I called back and he told me we'd have to reschedule. FINALLY I get all my product and I'm waiting for installation. Mind you, we ripped up our old floors ourselves and they came out to measure our house to give an estimate. The guy who measured our house was also contracted out. He told us our floors were in good shape and they would do some grinding in certain areas but it won't need anything else. So I place my order and the lady gives me my total and says there will be additional charges if you need work on your subfloors. So I'm thinking yeah okay reasonable but the guy already came out and said that we wouldn't need any work. So installation day is finally here. I move EVERYTHING out of my home and the installer tells me he can't lay my floors because the concrete is so uneven. Turns out they want an additional 1,000 to lay new concrete down. I felt bad for the installer, he could see the look on our faces and he goes they didn't tell you this did they? We said no. He said Home Depot is famous for this and then I get to peoples homes and I have to tell them all the reasons this won't work. He said our options are pay him to fix it, or put carpet in. So we paid the extra 1,000 after we were told our floors were good to go. So now we have to leave our house and get a hotel because we can't be home after the concrete is poured so we pack up some clothes and our two dogs and spend 150.00 on a hotel for the night. So now the guy is almost done installing when he tells us Home Depot miscalculated and we are short a T molding that is needed to connect the floors. He is going to San Francisco the next day for his wife's back surgery so he doesn't have the time to get it and put it in for us. So now after paying all this money to have my floors installed I have to go to Home Depot to get more product and install it myself. That was about three weeks ago. Now my floors are having issues because they didnt prep my subfloor correctly. My floors are SO incredibly creaky, the boards are not flush, and you can feel cliffs from where the laminate does not lock correctly. I contact the sub contracted company and they scheduled someone to come out and fix it two days later. The guy never showed, when i called the said they double booked him and now i have to wait two more weeks for my issue to be fixed. Then today i got an email stating that they need to reschedule because they need to rip it up, i called and said i rescheduled for the 16th do i need to reschedule again? The operator said i dont know, let me call my manager and ill call you back. I never received a call. This process has been HELL and over a month long. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I have to track everyone down and get them to do their job, to order things, to call me back, to schedule appointments EVERYTHING. They have no idea what they are doing. read more

Literally the worst. We hate going to Home Depot in Redding. Every time we go there is an isle shut down that we need access to and power trippy Home Depot workers. The entire store is literally shelves of chaos. And what's with the hundreds of pigeons?!?! Like literally get it together management. Get rid of the pigeons, find some decent product reps for maintenance and stocking shelves and start treating your employees better so they like being at work? I will NEVER set foot in this store again! They are a heartless corporation that does not recognize our older Vets as military! Yesterday on the Eve of Pearl Harbor Day my Husband took my Grandfather there to purchase wood flooring after about an hour in the store loading all of the supplies onto the cart they arrive at the cashier who rings them up (over $2000 purchase) he presented his his military card and the clerk said oh you have to go to the customer service desk for that. So they trucked the cart to the service desk only to be told oh we don't take that card. My husband asked to speak to a manager and the manager walked up made no eye contact with either of them, picked up a laminated piece of paper tossed it to the clerk and said I don't have time for this and walked off. The clerk then handed the sheet to my Grandfather and said sorry we don't take your card. This was like a slap in his face. We called the store manager and the corporate office with no response except sorry wrong card its store policy. Mind you, my Grandfather has been the Commander of the VFW in Anderson California on and off for 8 years. He is now the Judge Advocate. My Grandfather bravely served in the Pacific Theater as a Navy Frogman the predecessors to the Navy Seals. He holds a lifetime membership to the VFW. He was out of the house this morning at 4 to place flags throughout our town and has three funerals to perform today. He is a dedicated military man who loves his country. I cannot understand why the Home Depot Manager couldn't even give him the time of day. I feel so hurt for him and I believe Home Depot should publicly apologize to him. I an so dissapointed with Home Depot. The last few times I have had bad experiences. Today I went in to talk to thw cabinet person about getting a custom cabinet door made. She was helping someone so I waitied for her to finish. She starts talking to someone else and doesnt even acknowledge me. There was another person working as well who ignored me. I went to customer service to get help she said Karen is the only person who can help so call and make apt. What the? Not sure how that would help when she ignored me as I was right there. I wish there were negative stars to give this place. This happened a couple years ago but I just started yelping. I had bought a $350.00 ac unit and got $50 cash back. While walking out I began folding it up to slip it into my wallet and I realized it was a fake bill, I immediately went back to the register but the line was long and the checker directed me to the customer service desk. The guy there swore up and down that the checkers always check their bills. I told him that she obviously didn't check for a water mark and only used the pen to test the paper. It was a poorly scanned new fifty on a bleached bill. He said he would look at the security footage and give me a call. I then told him that he didn't even have my number. He sighed and got a pen and paper, he asked my name and number and as I was telling him my info I looked down at his paper and he was just scribbling on the paper! I told him to rewrite it and he did. I never got a call back. I shop at lowes now. I never stepped out of the security cameras' field of view so they could see that I didn't even get it in my pocket or fully leave the store before I returned the the register. They either knew they messed up or didn't care enough to investigate. They stiffed an honest customer $50. read more

Yes! I had to write to say that the manager at this location Ian made sure I left there more than happy (I was actually very impressed) after a very unfortunate incident with one of the employees while I was looking for an outdoor (waterproof) light fixture. The employee is the only reason I am giving them 4 stars. I live in Trinity County and neither of the hardware store had the quantity of electrical parts I needed and after going to Redding to find them I realized how much "stupid tax" I paid in my home town for the same exact parts. I would have spent half the money for my whole project had I done all my shopping at Home Depot. And for this reason I give them 5 stars. Shame on you Weaverville for making us drive to Redding to meet our needs AND pay half! Hooray to managers like Ian who care that their customers leave as I did, thankful and satisfied. read more

I purchased two doors for my home at the Redding store. One front door and one back door. The order was set up to be picked up by my contractor a few days later. When he arrived on the designated day and time, only one door was ready to go. He was told they needed to order the second door (backdoor) and will call when the door arrives. About a week later I was called to say my second door was in and ready to go. I came in several hours later that day to pick up the door. I was told then the door was not in customer service as was promised by the lady who told me the door was in and ready for pick up. I spent close to an hour waiting for my door. What kicked it for me was when an associate stated they have the door, but it's damaged would I want the door anyway. At that point, I demanded a refund and found what I was looking for at another home improvement store. No waiting no hassle! read more

I needed a range asap, as our broke on Dec 23rd. No store has any in stock, but Home Depot gave me the quickest order time, said it will most likely to come in early. A delivery time was set 2.5 weeks away. No word from Home Depot so as we neared the date, I tried the web site to find my order, it was always not working and said to try back later. I tried the live chat, and was told the order was on time and should be delivered that Monday. Monday I called the store, because they never contacted me, and was told in an unconcerned manner " Its not here, maybe tomorrow", when I ask, she said they don't know when it will arrive. ( I guess their tracking doesn't work for them either). 3 days later my appliances were delivered, and installed, well the level legs were not use to level the range, told us we needed to buy shims, and the anti-tip guard left on the counter, We will call it installed. I purchased these appliances here because of the earlier delivery date promised, that was not true. Lowes offered me 5% off if I used their card, but didn't promise the earlier delivery date. Terrible customer service. I purchased 2 boxes of florescent light bulbs to replace the ones I my garage. I was assured that I should buy the box of 12 because it was cheaper and if there was any problems I could return them. They were the wrong size and I could not use them... In the meantime I lost my receipt, but would have been happy with store credit. I went to return the two boxes and was told that I didn't purchase them there.... That they belonged to lowes.... I politely disagreed but was told that if they scanned in the computer I could get a return but if they didn't then I must be mistaken on where I purchased them... I needed some other items so I walked through the store and was stopped at the check out... "Do you have a receipt for those bulbs?" "No ma'am they are not a Home Depot product". She walks over and scans them, and then has to call the return desk to verify I came in with them. Bewildered I head to lowes...lowes doesn't even carry Phillips light bulbs!! I head back to Home Depot and am now told they will return them but only one box since I have no receipt, I accept and ask to see a manager after my transaction was complete... I waited 10min and they never came. The following day I return and it's the same guy who tells me he can't let me return them... I ask to see a manager again and she says she will allow it but my drivers lic won't swipe on their computer... I tell her it worked yesterday, but she refuses. I call my wife who is unable to come so I ask my dad (a 70 yr old combat vet) he comes down and they tell him "I'm sorry, the manager won't allow you to return these".... I ask to see a manager again and show him our id's with the same last name... Not to mention our name is on our shirts.... Reluctantly they allow it and proceed to tell us that they track all returns and we should be careful. Condescending assholes! read more

This is probably the worst home depot ever. I have been to plenty of others that were not so bad. As a developer and an owner builder I am thoroughly familiar with every hardware store in the area from weed to sac, burney to arcata. This place is just rotten. Sometimes they have an item that I can't find anywhere else, and practically EVERY TIME I am reminded why I loathe this store. Worst customer service ever. If you know exactly what you want and where to find it then yes, they usually are a little bit cheaper. IMO it's never worth the headache to save $0.21. I'll be happy to rewrite this review if things improve however, I am in the process of trying to get new carpeting for three of my four bedrooms and have had the worst customer service to this point. I notice there are no current reviews for this store. I would say it is because no one shops here but the reverse seems to be true. I think the problem is no one works here. Perhaps, management could add a few staff members to make things run more smoothly. I am pulling my order if things do not improve. We stood in line for 25 minutes to get service only to be told one of the clerks was going to lunch and the remaining staff member would get to us when he could, which prompted us to summons the manager. Vic took care of us and we left with an order to have measurements taken of the three rooms. Now I receive a phone call advising additional trip fee and to pay via phone at XXX extension. No problem. I call the extension and they say they will have to transfer me to the flooring dept. (that's the same flooring dept. which is tragically understaffed) No one answers, duh. We ask for the adjacent dept. ask that guy to summons someone from flooring and are told they are too busy but he'll have someone call us back asap. That was two hours ago. I think I can see the writing on the wall... time to go to Lowe's. read more

I went into Home Depot looking to replace a sliding screen door that had a hole in it. I wasn't wanting to spend tons of money and was apprehensive of the cost of replacing the old screen. In comes Floyd Keeran to the rescue! He sized up my old one, gave me some options, and when I said it was probably too much to me he offered to just rescreen the door for the cost of the screen. It just so happened I had a rescreening kit handy(after deciding it was too hard I had opted out of attempting myself). Within 20 minutes he rescreened the whole door and I was on my way...no charge! He did an amazing job and was super friendly and helpful the entire way. Much appreciated Floyd!!! read more

Very terrible customer service. My husband and I were looking for some hvac items, half of the items we ended up needing were out of stock or on a top shelf. I finally tracked someone down to help after we were standing in one isle for 20+ minutes. The guy helped us get the things down from the top and then we asked him a question about it and all he said was he doesn't work this isle and then he left. We ended up leaving everything and went to Lowes and got the help we needed. I will no longer go to Home Depot for things. I wish I could say this was a first time thing but it is not. And another thing while we were in Home Depot the phone rang the WHOLE TIME, it rang all through out the store. Was very annoying to hear for the 45+ minutes we were there. read more

Everyone is always quick to be pissy when they think they deserve perfection. You have to remeber these people are human and they don't always know the answer or do things maybe the way you would. I have been a contractor for 30 years and I am used to getting my lumber from locally owned places because I prefer to keep the money in our OWN economic area...so if you are on here posting about how PISSY you are because you got poor service....maybe you should move to where your money is being sent. So you spend money at home depot....local businesses quiver up and die because you are too god dam cheap to spend a few extra bucks which would keep you economy strong making you more money to keep spending locally....get it yet ? I dodn't think so, So next time you go complain about how bad home depot or Lowes is....think about how stupid you sound to begin with because you never took economics in college and you have a stupid high school diploma thinking you have the right to complain about how cheap you are because you had bad service at a store that promotes putting small businesses out of business. read more
