The lumber seleciton is good here, it stays well stocked and is kept organized. I came in to get some material to build a fence and it was all in stock and very good quality. When I have needed other lumber I have been able to find it here easily. One thing about this store that is not great is the electrical section. It is spread out across seemingly random aisles. One of the aisles is now cleaning supplies even though it is labeled as as electrical parts. The conduit is in a back aisle almost as far away from the entrance as it could be. Connectors and boxes are spread around haphazardly. Some fittings are out of stock and the selection is not great either. For electrical parts go to another store, this one is not great. read more

Don't waste your time if you want your home improvement products on time. Their logistics and shipping are uncoordinated with no communication. I had to track down trucking and shippers. Delivery times quoted by Home Depot were not honest and timely. Was told I would be called by the shippers but never happened. For review purposes, I think it is fair to compare Home Depot locations to each other. And this location has always been reliable for us. We moved to Reno 10 years ago from Southern California. It was always a stressful experience when I went to the Home Depot near our old house. Before, I could rarely find someone to assist me and if I did they typically made me feel they were put out and/or didn't have an answer. The first time I stepped into this Reno location, it was a completely different experience! I had SEVERAL people asking me if I needed help - I didn't need to seek out anyone! And if they didn't know the answer to my question, they would go out of their way to find an answer. Over the years, my visits here have always been positive. The people are friendly and helpful. And the store is kept neat and pretty well stocked. My only minor complaint is that I wish they had a tap option to pay at the self-checkout stations. I imagine that change will come with time. After coming here a couple times just this week, I realize I need to give them a shout out! In particular, to Logan in the paint department! He patiently helped me both times and knew exactly what I needed for two separate DIY jobs. After following his directions, our mailbox looks brand new! read more

Totally insane! We used the Home Depot carpet service. They asked us to pay via their online payment system, so I did. I never got a confirmation email that we paid. I never got a receipt. I never got a call to schedule the installation. After two weeks, I started calling them and they said they'd farmed the job about to some other company who would call us to schedule an installation. (That company, Reno Floors, was great by the way, once we actually connected with them.) When I called Home Depot to get a simple receipt, I was told at various times I'd have to come into the store, I'd have to call the installers to get a receipt, I'd have to pay more, that they couldn't provide one, and that they'd email one when they got around to it. Also, the link to the online payment system expires, so you can't even go back and see the order on line once you pay. They also don't put the order in your online account. Just that you paid. So if I ever wanted to call them on the warranty, I'd have zero documentation. I can't even show I bought carpet from them. Still waiting on a receipt. Don't use them. read more

Stopped in at Home Depot today because I just couldn't stand the lack of color on my garden patio and front porch. The weather is probably changing again, but that doesn't matter because I want my home to look colorful and inviting. Wide selection of all kinds of geraniums, dahlias, and hanging baskets of pansies. Like everything else in the world prices are way up this year and I'm hoping the weather doesn't destroy my floral investment in the next few days. A Customer Service note, as I was loading my plants into the back of my RAV, the gentleman who was the cart collector came by and offered to help load the 25 Pound bag of potting soil into my car for me. I already never shop at Home Depot, but if the coffin needed a nail this was it. A piece on our toilet broke so it is not flushing properly. My husband insisted he should just get one from Home Depot since Lowe's is much farther away from us, and when he looked online he saw the delivery was free. He went ahead and ordered a part that cost about $8 to be delivered today. Well, this morning we got notification it was delivered. It was not. Looking at the "proof of delivery" photo it was clear they had taken it to an apartment complex up the road from our condo complex. Totally different address, not even close save for the street name. To top it off, the photo makes it clear that they didn't even try to deliver it to the unit number as they should, they just dumped it off at the office door. Customer service chat was ridiculous, insisted it was delivered when it very clearly was not, tried to demand a picture of my front door for some reason(??), and the replies were painfully slow. I was finally refunded thankfully and I'll take my business back to Lowe's or another hardware store. read more

Very positive experience at the paint department. The representative went out of his way to make it a good experience. My paint was mixed and ready in minutes, given the pourable spout as well as the wooden stirrer and can opener. My paint was tested on the top and dried to show the exact color was correct. He also let me know that Home Depot will also save the colors that you purchase in their system under your name. Nice! Busy time and I had the painters already in my home so appreciated the speedy and efficient service! Not to mention I love Behr paint, can always find the color and finish I want. read more

This store is mostly organized, signed, clean and easy to shop. The quantity and quality is there. Admittedly I did not need help with a recent project as I know everything I need to know about this one. That being said, it is a good thing. We spent around 1.5 hours looking at different choices and pricing in a design area of the store. Not one person offered assistance. The next day I returned to make the purchase. After loading 18 of 20 boxes of flooring someone finally asked if I needed help. I said I could get the last 2 boxes. At check out with an entire flat cart of heavy products that came to over $1,000, there was no offer of loading assistance. I remember a different shopping experience in the past. Yesterday, I went to Home Depot off 80/MacCarran about 4 times for supplies for the house renovation project we've been working on in NW Reno. Our previous tenant Dani and her kids totally trashed the house before they left, and let their dog urinate over every single baseboard and every piece of carpet in the house. We had mold problems in a couple of the rooms, toys and food inside the air vents in the floor (WTF), and we ended up having to replace every single baseboard in the entire place, had to completely rip out the carpets and replace it with hardwood laminate flooring, and even had to replace some of the door frames. I just can't believe that a relatively young mom with a seemingly good job (I suppose working at the credit union on Robb Dr seems like a good job) could let her kids live like that. It was hard to breathe in there, with all the urine stench. Anyway, we are nearing the completion of the project, and I needed a couple odds and ends. I was trying to fix a light fixture in one of the bathrooms, and approached Jon in the paint section to ask a question. He was busy, but left the paint area to help me find the things I was looking for, and even gave me some cost saving tips. No interest in helping really, everything is half done. We ordered same day delivery for a couple LED bulbs. They dropped off the wrong order at our house- patio umbrella. Packing slip showed the correct delivery address which wasn't my home. My wife called to let them know. They could care less. Did not offer to come pick up the item snd get us the correct one. I went to Home Depot on Virginia street today and had the most amazing experience. I was checked out by the kindest and most amazing person named Dylan. He was more than diligent and attentive. I lost my keys and he offered to watch my cart while I tried to find them. The manager James double checked if I had found them! The customer service here is absolutely top notch! Staff is solid and reasonable, with an uncanny knack for knowing where things are hidden. We normally visit the HD nearest to our home, but as we have a new house under construction, my husband, a former contractor, literally visits a Home Depot almost daily. Everything we need, from building supplies to cleaning products, to home decor is nearby, priced well, and easy to find. Today, the folks at HD Summit Ridge went above and beyond, and made a special memory possible for me kids. We love the kid's clinics, and today, in spite of registering online weeks ago at my regular store, we found an empty isle and were told the kid's clinic ran out of supplies. Call it the full moon, but my kids were crushed. I called another store and received a huffy "we ran out". Then I called Summit Ridge. These folks not only accommodated my kids, but were friendly, kind and Santa himself lent a hand in the build (one mom + 2 kids + 2 hammers + lots of nails!) and did it all with a smile! Made our day and made my kids certain that a little Christmas magic was at work! As far as big box home stores go, there,may be similar offerings, similar prices, so why not go where the employees are the absolute x factor that makes the routine run to the hardware store a wonderful experience? I ordered an item on line, my order was received by HD, my name was placed on the order. I received a text saying my order was ready. I went to HD followed the instructions, letting HD know I was at curbside pickup. A young man named Omar came out ( very polite and professional ) and informed me that my order was missing. That it had been given to another customer by one of HD professionally trained associates. Even though it had my name on it, the HD professionally trained associate gave it away. HD informed me they had a unit at another location. No offer to have it shipped to your store, or have someone go pick it up, no reasonable offer for the inconvenience. "Here you go go get it." It is apparent that HD's service desk lacks the ability to service responsibly. This reflects directly onto the HD Management. read more

Not sure why this HD has only 2.5 average because the people working here are always insanely helpful and happy to help. I have used HD for many things from painting, fans, lights, gardening, creating my own water cooling tower, and even renting a flatbed truck. They have always gone above and beyond here. Even the younger high school kids who truly seem to enjoy their jobs at HD. Every time I have a project and need that extra bit of help realizing it, the staff here are excited to talk through the project and give input on which supplies I will need. read more

Window leaked, broke my soap dish in my bathtub from standing on it, got caulking all over my new paint job, broke my kitchen tile, left me with unpainted uneven trim, they broke a window so I had to wait 3 months for a new one. read more

The returns cashier, blinds/curtains specialist, and manager(needed to approve the return) we're all amazing. This Home Depot goes above and beyond to take care of their customers. I never hesitate to buy from this store because if I need to take something back, these guys have a lot of empathy and treats each transaction case by case and makes judgements that go beyond store policy. We just had the most amazing experience at this Home Depot. In the garden department we were in search of Sunflower Plants. Why? Our Weenie dog is deaf and her most favorite thing is chasing butterflies. What attracts them more than Sunflowers which I plant every year. Today, while at the Reno Summit Ridge Store we found some gorgeous Sunflowers with no price. We asked an attendant to find the price. He contacted Joseph the MOD and after telling him our story he made us the most amazing deal. I was overly touched at his kindness. I tried to post on their website but it is almost impossible. When it's your second home, you know your way around the store without help. It's the closet home and garden store for us so we almost use it exclusively. Lord knows how many gallons of paints I have bought here. So many flowers and other plants. And all the miscellaneous home repair items over the last 15 years. Including a shed and last year, new windows. Sheela is probably the only one who gets really excited to make a depot run. She has the employees trained- she sits, looks cute, and shakes their hand. Rented the flat bed truck for an hour and was upcharged for fuel on return even though I put fuel in the truck. They claimed it was at a higher level when it was rented but that was based on supervisor checking the vehicle and saying it was at 7/8 tank at first. When I returned it they claimed it was 13/16's, even though I drove less than 16 miles and actually put in 1.5 gallons. They method of verification lacked accuracy and logic. They also claimed there was no way to reverse the charge after the rental was finished, although they could have stated this before completing the transaction as I returned the vehicle 15 minutes early. I love this place! I come here all the time in the spring time. Why? Because I keep buying plants because something happens to them. Or I just have a black thumb. I usually pick a few herbs during a sale and pick a few veggie plants for the garden box. The peony from last year grew back this year. I wanted another one, but didn't see it today. I picked up a hydrangea plant instead. Will see if it comes back next year. This location has a better selection of garden stuff than the south location. I also like coming here for my DIY projects when one comes to mind. There is a lot you can do with pvc pipes and magnet stuff. If you plan to buy a large quantity of something heavy like bricks, you can call ahead and they will pick it and load it on a cart for you, so you will only have to load the car. Staff is always friendly to me and my furbaby. They have treats too! read more

This is my local hardware store. I like that it is up on a hill with a semi secret entrance. It took me a couple tries of figuring that I had to practically run into the wall before turning left. Otherwise I kept going into the apartment complex, lol. In any case, the staff has always been really helpful and courteous in my times of need. I went to Home Depot tonight to buy the same exact stuff I wanted at Lowe's and every person I encountered was so friendly and helpful. Not all Home Depots are created equal. Nonetheless, there's something to learn after EACH visit. After purchasing some standard lumber that ended up warping from other HDs, I came here on the recommendation of friends. Since then, I've gone out of my way to visit this store for their lumber selection, which is just generally dryer and more reliable than others for some reason. Most recently I ended up here due to some errands in the area. In search of a few straight 2x4's, I asked one of the guys in the lumber department which were the best. He pointed me toward the kiln-dried stock they keep right up front, insisting these would be the straightest, and advising that if the board was already warped, it would most likely stay that way. (If you're looking for these in any HD store, look for the KD (kiln-dried) on the price tag) It makes sense because the kiln drying process basically bakes the wood to dehydrate it, which helps to ensure the lumber doesn't drastically warp during transport and storage. I also needed a 1x12x8', and found that here too. Straight, perfectly planed, with a beautiful grain to boot. Sadly many of these "common boards" were marked with some sort of grease chalk that could not be removed. The store couldn't offer any advice on removal either. I also needed stain to complete this project, and after finding a few colors I liked, I asked for some advice. The woman in the department said that her customers loved the "Polyshades" by Minnwax, but she didn't have any samples to show me. Instead, she pointed me toward the manufacturers color chart, which definitely told me which colors were lighter than others, but it didn't really show what this would look like on wood. Intuition told me not to buy that product, and fortunately, that was the right call. At another HD store I was shown some samples applied to wood, and it would've been a train wreck! So the moral of the story is that NW Reno's HD store has good lumber choices (not that the others don't, I've just had better luck here) and the advice you get is only as good as the person giving it. Excellent Home Depot experience! All of the employees working were super helpful and even ended up helping me after I insisted that I did not need said help. This resulted in me obtaining the perfect paint color with the perfect finish! I also spent a lot of time in the nursery and picked out several different plants and the person working out there was able to help me navigate the particulars of planting things up in Lake Tahoe with the elevation considered. Yet another place that was small, nice, and easy taken over by all the commoners who had to move here. Now messed-up parking lot with idiots driving every which way, and huge lines - causing the associates to slow down even further, as it seems never ending. I finally found pkg spot and walked into 8 people in line, overloading a single cashier. I left and drove to the S Virginia store. Walked right up to counter with only 1 waiting before me. Was in/out less than 5 minutes. Never will try this HD again. Not their fault, but screw all those NW zombies. Get a life, losers. read more
