I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with this company was frustrating enough that I felt compelled to share. First, the mulch delivery was late -- with no call or communication to let me know what was going on. When it finally arrived, I was shocked at the quality. What was supposed to be wood mulch included large pieces of wood, random branches from other bushes, chunks of concrete, and even trash. I called to raise the issue and was met with a man who was apathetic, condescending, and completely dismissive. There was no attempt to make things right and absolutely no concern about losing a customer. Even when I told him I wouldn't be using their services again, he made it clear he didn't care. so on Friday, we had some Pea gravel delivered as soon as I seen it. I just didn't think it looked like 3 yards as soon as my husband walked in the door who works for a construction company said that that's not 3 yards.. we hired a young man who works for a company here in town that does landscaping and we paid him for 3 yards to put in our backyard. We had to pay for the 3 yards. It's not his fault. We didn't get it. The woman who is supposedly the manager she threatened to put a lien on our house if we pulled our check back and paid her for what we got . She's got some issues. I think the whole company has issues who lets their entire children run around the business while you're trying to buy something she does. She's lied to me two times. she's obviously gone to court before cause she wants business license of construction workers or landscaper workers so she can put liens on them too. These rip-off artists charge you a pallet deposit of $60/pallet.....only $18 refundable! That's robbery for nothing! They charge a flat delivery fee of $250 even if you live a mile from there shack. Others charge by delivery area. Avoid them at all costs. Their moron drivers don't even know how to dump less than 2yd loads in the street! So, I was in Reno for a few days and I wanted to buy some rocks to paint and hide with the local rock painting group. I told the girls in the office I was looking for about ten palm sized river rocks. I was informed I would need to buy a bag and I could have it filled up. I paid for the rocks ($14.02) and was given a heavy duty bag to take out to the guy in the yard. He was busy, so I went to the river rock bin and picked out 12 rocks. I was then on my way, making a mental note to bring rocks from home the next time I visit. :) read more

I should have read the reviews first! The instructions I gave them were "dump it right next to the hole with the stuff missing". We all understand how heavy rock is right? Also I believe you advertise yourself as a landscaping company. So they dropped the first load STRADDLING the hole. Not exactly an easy mistake to undo! There is no landscaping cloth or irrigation run yet. They then called from the office to ask where I wanted the second load (lighter color rocks at the top of the driveway) so I know they understand the concept of calling to get clarification when they are unsure about something. Where was this courtesy the first incorrectly dropped load? And if they misunderstood why would they drop HALFWAY? When I called I asked to talk the manager. They put Sadie on the phone. Not helpful at all. Pretty much told me to pound sand. I asked her "are you basically telling me to politely go f#$k myself? She answered "politely, yes". Wow! What customer service! She is probably the worst person with the worst attitude to run her business. And I'm pretty sure she is not the top person in the store, and she told me twice she was. I have usually had pretty good luck with this company. One week ago I was re sodding my yard and I came in a week early and paid for the sod. On Saturday, the day I had arranged to pick up the sod there were two pallets of sod. One did not look very good and the other was much better. The loader would not let me take from the good pallet and loaded from the poor looking one. We laid the sod that day and the next working day (Monday) I called and spoke to the manager. Several rolls looked like they were dying. The manager said to bring them down that day and he would exchange them. I told him that I worked every day 10 hour shifts and the next day off would be Friday. The manager said that would be too late and they don't guarantee sod. I really think they wanted to peddle off the poor looking sod to the first sod (me) that came by. When I mentioned to the manager that I was going to leave a review on Yelp he said that he didn't care. I really think that this company could work on their customer relation skills. read more

I have shopped here for years. It's close to home, nice variety. We order our rock there too. I purchased 2 small plants a few weeks ago. I was told by their employee that these were the only grasses that get planted in Nevada, but that is not true. I came home and my husband said they were the wrong grasses. So I called them and asked if I could bring them back and trade them for some other plants and that I was sold the wrong plants. Not only did they say they have no refund or exchange policy, (only asking to exchange) but their lack of kindness, caring and customer service was apparent. I'm a business person. I know how the money works. I was trying to be flexible. So what I would say is DO NOT SHOP HERE AND BUYER BEWARE! The customer is not always right here. Ordered $1000.00 of base to be delivered with quote of $100 delivery fee. Day before delivery they called and said due to our location it will be $200 fee. They proceeded to tell me where I live according to their map, which I informed them was incorrect. I live 9.5 miles from them and it is cheaper to have delivery to Geiger grade apparently. They would not research or look up their misunderstanding of area and gladly refunded our $$$. Just checking store hours, and came across the Yelp reviews. Usually don't review places, but thought I would in this case. I've been using TRRN for over 20 years. In that time, I've made at least 20 purchases; 3 in the past year. I've purchased all my hardscape/soil there. I priced it out many years ago, and TRRN was cheapest. Every time I received quality material delivered within the first hour of the 3 hour delivery window. And they put it right where I asked. Don't know if they're still cheapest, but I assume they're competitive, and for the service, I'm not going to try somewhere new. A couple projects ago, I went in for 3 yards of topsoil. Long story short, they corrected my math, and I left with 2 yards; always pleasant dealing with them. read more

I bought a tree without being informed that it collects bugs (boxelders) which would cause a health issue for a family member. Less than 12 hours after I bought the tree, I tried to exchange it (not even return) and the owner Sarah was very rude about it all. She said "I don't care about your issues, I am not taking it back". She tried to use an example "if you put gas in your car, do you try to go and return it?" She also said "I have million dollar customers and I don't need your $150." She was very rude and unprofessional and the trees are not labeled as they should be. The owner literally launched F bombs at my gardner -- a very kind and gentle man -- because the guy had to wait a few minutes to dump an expensive truck load of rock after his own staff forgot to let us know when he was arriving (after promising us they would do so). We purchase about a thousand dollars worth of plant slast June (2017). A dogwood for about $250, smoke bush about $ 100, some grasses and a couple of cherry tree's about $350. The Cherries lived; along with the grasses. Not pleased with customer service nor knowledge of soil conditions in the local area,. Trees and plants were delivered in flatbed, standing up and wind burnt. They never stood a chance. I think these folks need to sick to selling rock. We had Truckee River do our backyard landscaping. The landscaping turned out nice; however, the customer service is severely lacking. They are very responsive until you commit, then getting a phone call returned is impossible. They were very late completing the job. No reason. After completed, we have had issues with out lighting. After numerous calls, they show up. "Fix" the problem. And then it's broke again a week later. And, still no returned call. They show up unannounced. Or don't show when you do actually speak to someone and make arrangements. Terrible customer service. read more

We made a purchase here for our back yard and realized a day later that we needed to cancel the order for various reasons. One of the employees told us over the phone hat it would not be a problem and that we would just have to come down with the card that we used to purchase In order to cancel the order and generate the refund. SARAH, one of the employees at the desk, berated us and told us that we were "idiots" of we thought there was anyway that they would cancel the order. Her and another employee laughed between each other as my girlfriend explained what happened and and why we thought that we could get a refund on the order. Needless to say, if you shop here, you are supporting the worst group of people I have ever encountered in any customer service environment. IF you are buying topsoil...go elsewhere. Went to buy topsoil from them and the receipt stated topsoil so I backed my truck up where I was told and they proceed to dump it in back. When I got home, I began to unload it and found it to be 95% DG (decomposed granite) which is worthless for planting anything. The loader person read the receipt and it stated topsoil. It appears they mix topsoil with DG to get their profit up. If you are looking to buy topsoil, go elsewhere. read more

Bought $900 worth of rock and landscaping and referred 2 neighbors. My tree is dead 7 months later and they told me that they only guarantee 6 months. My husband and I cannot go d the paperwork but we both swear it was a 1 year guarantee. Because it's been extra wet this winter they said that that would circumvent the warrantee. This Company is not to be trusted. We paid 19 grand for pavers in our backyard. Within 2 months there were pavers falling out and we had water puddles at the foundation. We had 3 other landscapers review their work, and they laughed at the quality and code violations. It took 6 weeks to have them come back for repairs and they refused to fix it properly. Their Manager Sarah blamed us and the builder for the problems. Please read the other reviews for this terrible company and dont make the mistake we did. Seems now we will have to pay thousands to make the job right and pursue legal action to recover the expense since Truckee River Landscape refuses to fix their poor product. As expected, the additional work TRRN did was wonderful. I had a few problem areas they addressed with professionalism and promptness. An additional two plants and one large tree were added to the landscape. A drain line was repaired and my artificial turf was smoothed out with the addition of sand plus labor. The charge? I called Truckee River Rock to get a bid on lawn maintenance that they advertize on CR. I left a message with a girl w/ my contact info expecting that someone was to follow up & call me back..... I waited 2 days and called back and talk to some guy who said he'd definitely come out and give me an estimate over the weekend. Tuesday comes 3 days later, and I call back again asking for my estimate. The girl i talk has no idea if a bid was performed. She states that she'll need to follow up..... I finally get a call back from the girl (2 stars b/c I actually had someone finally call me back!!) and she left a v/m stating that they are too busy and I should move on and find someone else to do the work. Watch Out for this company!! They do not return full deposits on the pallets used to transport merchandise. They recharge credit cards instead of returning money to them.
