Came in for some paint and needed help finding painting tools, asked Anaija at the paint counter and she was absolutely horrible and seemed like she hated her job. No courtesy or understanding for first-time customers that don't know where things are and couldn't bother to communicate. She stared blankly at us when we asked for help and gave no guidance whatsoever afterwards. Thankfully, Rachel came over and gave us what the real definition of true customer service. She gave us a breakdown of the paint bases and offered knowledge. That right there is what people who have no understanding of something SHOULD be approached. read more

I live in Richmond, VA and bought a generator just before the big snow/ice storm hit because I was afraid I would lose power. Thankfully, I did not, but when I went to return the generator, I found out that there's a 7 day return policy for them. Today is day 9 and the first day I could get out to do the return. I called the store and the corporate office and got the same story..."so sorry, I know there was an ice storm and you were unable to get out, but the terms are the terms." I get that there are terms, but there are also extenuating circumstances and I'm now out $900 that I can't afford. read more

It might be ok for screws, but service in the Paint Department is awful. I was by myself at the paint counter while I waited for a full fifteen minutes watching an employee train another one on the paint machine. Finally asked is there anybody who can mix a can of paint for me and was told I could get in the back of the line of a people who were expectantly gathered around the paint machine. Finally had enough and went to the ironically-named Customer Service desk to talk to the manager, but was told she was busy on "a funny phone call." I went to Home Depot with very low expectations so was not surprised at the lousy service. Drove to Lowes and finally got my paint, but I'm certainly not going back to Home Depot again. read more

We purchased a Rheem gas water heater in the middle of December 2023 from Home Depot and had it installed by a local professional HVAC company. Unfortunately, the installer didn't pay attention to a huge dent on the water heater during installation. Due to their negligence now we have to live with a brand new dented water heater that cost us about $1000.00. Since, we already paid hundreds of dollars for the installation of this water heater, we didn't want to go through returning the water heater and pay for the installation all over again. Home Depot should have better quality control over their products and shouldn't be selling these damaged goods to the consumer. We all work hard for our money and shouldn't have to go through these troubles. In cases like these Home Depot should be liable to pay for reinstallations of their products. read more

I've been here a couple times. The first time, I easily found a golf umbrella and a cheap indoor security camera. I wasn't actually looking for either, but whatever. I'm pleased with both purchases. Last time was more recently. I was searching for an indoor plant that didn't require much sunlight. I don't know why Home Depot came to mind first. I guess because in the past I've always bought my indoor plants at Home Depot, Lowes, or Ikea (they are pretty much all long dead...other than the ones I've given away). The struggle was finding the indoor plants to begin with. It took me asking three different associates before I could find someone who could help. They only had two varieties -- a peace lily (pass, I have cats) and a lucky bamboo. Bamboo, it is. So far the bamboo is not dead, but it's only been about a week. Next time maybe I'll visit a *real* garden center. I don't own a home yet so otherwise I don't really need much at Home Depot. But if you need outdoor plants, they have plenty. read more

I went to the 1 - Richmond/W Broad #4611 11260 W Broad St to purchase a Ryobi drill I saw online. The website said there we're 5 available at this store. I had to ask for help to open the locked gate, the worker seemed annoyed. I showed him the drill on my phone, showing 5 were available, he showed no interest in helping e find it and even said "the online and store are not always in synch, what you see here is all I have" , Then he said "excuse me" because I was in his way and went ack to stocking. I was reedy to leave, but walked down the aisle a little further and saw the drill in a different location. I shared that with him, he said nothing, and continued to stock. read more

Home improvement stores are my favorite places to browse, and this Home Depot is my go-to spot. It's convenient, reasonably priced, and I can always find a product to suit my wants and needs. The staff also makes this location a step above many others and their competitors. Everyone is polite, efficient, and most importantly, knowledgeable. On every visit I am approached and asked if I need assistance, and when I do they almost always help me correctly the first time, whether it's cutting lumber to my specifications or locating a specific nail size. When I moved into a fixer-upper I even brought photos of my projects, such as the source of a leak in my bathroom sink, and employees were able to identify the issue and recommend products and methods of fixing it. They also have an excellent Lawn & Garden section with a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants and accessories. As a houseplant hobbyist I've actually had more luck here than at many local nurseries. read more

One man looked way up top of several aisles helping me to find some vac bags - it took awhile but he didn't give up! Then, Laura, a cashier, was helpful courteous and friendly assisting me not only in my purchases, but also saved me some moolah! Needed to move some furniture so I rented a pick up truck. Better than uhaul, because HD doesn't charge mileage. However Lowe's may be a little better since you get 90mins vs. 75 here at HD. Then it's $5 for every 15mins over. Nonetheless, worked great for what I needed! These are first cole first serve, but I called 30mins before pickup to ensure I at least had a chance to get one. Upon arrival, it took less than 5mins to get my info and sign an acknowledgment. They then charge a $50 deposit and you're on your way! I ended up paying $40 total since it was hot and we couldn't move things in 75mins. I was refunded the difference from the deposit. read more

I'm here to tell you that carpet + animals do not mix. We have a 3 year old dog who is clearly housebroken, but for some reason will go on pee inside the house rampages randomly about once a year. It is beyond frustrating, but those who have pets, you get it! Our house is all tile or wood floors except for the bedrooms which are carpet. My dog decided to pee in my toddler's bedroom not once, not twice, but three times over the span of two days. This was right around the time I found out I was expecting my 2nd, so I think there was some jealousy involved. Anyway, I tried EVERYTHING to remove the smell from his room. Nothing worked. We decided to get quotes for replacing his floor with Luxury Plank Vinyl, as it is waterproof and scratch resistant AKA perfect for people with small kids and dogs. We got quotes from a few different places, but being that we had Home Depot gift cards already, we decided to go with them. They were communicative and professional throughout the entire experience. Someone came out to do a measure, then we received a detailed quote which we could pay by phone or online. They were super backed up, so our appointment wasn't for another month and a half. Not their fault - I blame Covid and everyone wanting to do home projects. The day finally arrived and it went smoother that I could have imagined. The company that they contracted out arrived a little late, but they communicated that via text. They got down to business and were in and out of here in under 2 hours. Their work is flawless and we are extremely happy with the results. The plan is to replace the floors as the dog (inevitably) pees on the carpet in the other rooms and we wouldn't hesitate to book through Home Depot again. read more

I purchased a dishwasher for a rental house and paid extra for installation and removal of the old unit. It was delivered on time, however the delivery guy said it would take a "special valve" to be up to code. This guy left leaving the new one, the old one and the box. The next installer came two days later and says it's going to cost $389. My tenant paid the added charge and the best we could get from Home Depot was a refund on the original $179 we had paid them and that took took a LOT of arguing. Another plumber told us the "part" was $10 and on every plumber's truck. This is a racket and someone ought to catch these guys. We told Home Depot but clearly they didn't give a rip. I don't know why there are so many more Lowe's than Home Depots in Richmond. My best friend for over 20 years is a gay man who shares my love of architecture, home design,gardening, and travel. We, of course, call this store "homo depot" and love to look at paint, lighting fixtures, cool kitchen appliances, fab sinks and vanities...you name it! If a straight guy goes to Home Depot, he'll head straight for the power tools, but Ricky and I are all about the flair. I go here often, especially to the garden center which is much better than Lowe's and I bought my Christmas tree here last year for a mere $19.99, a real bargain these days. read more

5 stars for the staff in both the paint department and the appliance section. This Home Depot is my absolute favorite location for service, product and overall experience. Considering that I've been here no less than five times in the past week, I feel like I have a pretty solid handle on this HD. As a first-time homeowner, I've been making almost-daily trips for primer, paint samples, appliance comparison and other supplies. I can only imagine how many visits I'll be making to HD in the coming months, so I'm grateful to have a location that's both close-by and employs knowledgeable and friendly staff. The paint staff is super helpful, always ready to answer any paint-related questions and provide suggestions on brushes and finishes. I never feel like I'm annoying them, even when I'm requesting six paint samples at a time. I've dealt with at least four different employees and every one has been equally professional and delightful. The staff in the appliance section is also extremely friendly - the bf and I were looking at washers and dryers and Michael offered us super useful advice about appliances, as well as random tidbits of homeowners advice. We talked to him for a good 10 minutes, and I left the conversation feeling much more enlightened. HD, you and I are about to become the best of friends... whether you like it or not. read more

I paid for a quote on a kitchen flooring job and was advised to go into the store to complete the process. I visited 2 T-W-O HOME DEPOT stores Ashland and Broad Street near Burlington Coat factory. I'm asking myself do I want to get my flooring and fencing projects completed by them?! Do I want to give my money to a company who's customers are not valued?! Diann ignored me, spoke over me and even included another peer in her dialogue as I sat there in disbelief. I asked the rep for her name, told my friend it's time to go and walked out. I was already disgusted that people were walking around maskess (I'm a high risk candidate). I asked for the Managers name as I was walking out the door and I shared with one of the other reps what happened. He had been with us prior to us leaving he was in disbelief and said we should contact the manager. This lady had no regard or respect for my health or time. She's putting people unnecessarily at risk for Covid-19 especially since Home Depot doesn't enforce mask wearing! What in the world is wrong with these people!! I was so looking forward to having my flooring done! Apparently, flooring is not a strong suit for Home Depot, since the reps at both stores were not interested in closing the deal! I asked for other designs and neither had the gumption to show me anything else and I instead said that's all they had! I actually looked online to find the flooring I wanted. This is the best Home Depot I've ever been to! My dad and I needed to find bolts of a certain size and then later a tap to create threads. We had to ask around a couple of employees, since I think some employees are specialized in their knowledge (one employee told us where to find bolts but claimed the store didn't sell anything to create threads for the bolts... but we returned later and found an employee who was SUPER helpful and knew exactly what size taps the store carried). So I think as long as you ask the right person, you will find the answers and items you are looking for. The women's restroom in the back of the store was also impeccably clean. I can't speak for the men's room. :p Also, Vincent (the cashier up front) was super friendly. read more

The Good: Love this store and its sales associates!They deserve 5 stars! The Bad: Recently found a great LG washer/dryer pair - ON SALE - that I liked. I needed to take a couple of measurements and then quickly ordered online. Items were no longer on sale. As I did not need them immediately, I asked several associates if they might return to the sale price and was told no, they probably would not so I bit the bullet and bought them at the non-sale price. They were delivered soon after, but while checking the order, I noticed that suddenly they were on sale again! I called HD and was told the only way to get the sale price was to return them and re-buy! Shame on you, HD! In these difficult and dangerous times, you should not be exposing your wonderful employees to needless tasks and interaction. We had placed an order for garden soil, which was to be delivered on April 2. We received a call that the order would be delivered on April 4. This was apparently not updated in the system. The order was not delivered. It took two days of phone calls to try to determine what happened. The associate that we finally did reach said that it looked like delivery had been attempted on April 2 but nobody was home. Come on. It is a pandemic. We were definitely home. It would take a week for a delivery to be made. There was no apology and the associate kept insisting that the delivery had been attempted. Crappy service. read more

There was another guy there his name is Steve, he was completely useless. Looked at us and made sure to not say anything or help any of us and walk away while we are still in line. I have to say that the employees that work at this location deserve five stars. They are friendly and attentive and helpful and when something doesn't quite go to plan, they work with you not against you. I drive a longer distance to go here despite Lowes being much closer because the employee's at Lowes couldn't be further from interested or friendly. You'll be wandering for days before anyone pays attention to you there. The gardening centre at this location isn't great, it's fine but it lacks variety and their house plant section is a bit sad but that may also be due to the season. Customer service counts and this store is really doing it right. read more

This place has absolutely the worst customer service ever. I just popped in at lunch time to get some plants. I asked the cashier if they still had day lilies. It's late in the season and I may have missed them. She said she didn't know and vaguely waved at the perennial section that I just came from and said, "Look over there." Then I asked her if they had a hummingbird feeder. She said yes. I said, "Where?" Again she vaguely pointed to the door and said, just go through there and look around. I did that before I asked her and didn't see anything. I did that again and saw the same thing I did the first time. Then I left without buying anything. Home Depot is close by and I enjoy going into the place. The people are very friendly and if I have any questions, they will try to answer it or find someone who will. One of the things, I like about HD is the quality of Grills they carry. I am a BIG fan of the Brinkman Grills as I have one of their Professional Smokers and I feel they DO make a quality Grill as appose to some of the other brands. The only reservation I have about shopping at HD is.... is your Credit Card information Safe? They had their Servers hacked into several months, but failed to let the Customers who have used their card in the past know about this information. I hope it is fixed, and if not than I will travel the extra mile to the Blue Box down the street. read more

Dear Management, Thank you for such wonderful employees at this Home Depot. I have been there many times over the last few weeks dealing with renovations and preparing to move into my new house. Everyone at HD actually knew where things were when I asked them. Never a vague answer, always specific. If I was confused, they sent me to someone more familiar in that department (such as lighting for lightbulbs) and they helped me. Someone even got up on a huge ladder to get boxes for me and open a new box of granite cleaner i needed. Other stores do not go out of their way like that. Please let your staff know that they are way more helpful than that the other store that starts with an L. I will be coming here exclusively from now on because the staff here rocks. Bottom line in case you don't read the details below - the associates at the store are courteous and helpful but the process is so very broken. It's so hit or miss with this store - my hot water heater installation was nearly perfection, but I remember one day in the paint department an "associate" came over to give his advice - he was helpful (or so I thought) until he started his water purification pitch. Turns out he's a third party salesperson and it turned out that his advice was just a guess and not a correct one. That was weird. BUT because I'd had a good experience with their appliance installation services I went back for carpet installation/replacement. Whew doggies, overall it was NOT good. Ordering the measure online was fine, the measuring guy was fine, the installation guy did a great job despite not reading the installation notes that I had picked up the carpet so he went to the store unnecessarily and waited for them to read them to him, then took two smoke breaks and 15 minute phone call for a 1.5 hour job for which I left work and was waiting to return. The in-between part was the worst, though. I had to go to the store to pick carpet. I got there at 5:15 pm and had it picked in five minutes. A very nice, new associate was helping me with the assistance of a very nice veteran employee. Within a few minutes of pulling up the order on the computer (a system the newb didn't know), another customer came to order hardwood flooring. The vet took her order and gave a few pointers while the new guy fumbled through screens with me. TWO HOURS LATER I was finally heading out of the store after the other customer had long since finished her business, but my order wasn't complete - they said they would call me in the morning. No call all day so that afternoon I called and easily paid with the measuring company; they said I'd have to schedule the installation with the store and my heart sank. I called the store. And called, and called. After many tries of being put on hold and never reaching anyone, I finally reached the manager who said he'd have someone call me by noon the next day. As expected, no call, so I started the calling process again with the store. Lo and behold - while on hold yet again I get an e-mail from the installation folks who want to schedule the installation! Easily completed it with them. Moral of the story - if you need something complicated, work online with the other companies. Try to leave the store out of it. read more

I love Home Depot... I give this store as low a rating as I can because I have YET to rent a tool from them that worked. I typically rent them, get them home, start using them to find the tool either broken, missing parts, or parts breaking while using it. Today was the end... 2 trips for bad equipment, and when I went back for the 3rd time, I had to wait in line for 30 minutes just to get my refund. Not right!!!! read more

Dropped off a string trimmer for repair the last week/first week August /September. It's November 23rd. Called again today. Had to leave a message with a manager since the tool rental/repar shop won't answer the phone. This will be the third time leaving a message. Went in to ask but they said they woyld have to get back to me. Never did. 3 months to fix a string trimmer. Nobody know anything other than it is in the shop. I got my transmission rebuilt in two days. Find another place. read more
