Local in store, great. Online orders beware. If it is shipped from a local store you can modify the delivery date. If it is not from the local store, then you can NOT change a delivery date. This information is not disclosed when you make an order. The website simply says call customer service to modify your order. The policies on if delivered items are left out in the winter weather and damaged, or stolen, are not on the website, despite customer service stating they are. Nor will customoer service send you a copy of their policies. The resolutions department will offer to call vendors, but if the vendor has already shipped the item you are out of luck. This experience was with the resolutions department. The call to customer service was less than 24 hours after making the order. The first call ended being disconnected, or they hung up on me. I do not know which. I canceled most of the order. That also can not be done online despite the website saying you can. I had to call them again. I do like the local store. Online orders delivered from there are also fine. But for anything else online I am unlikely to patronize Home Depot again. There are plenty of other local options. read more

These guys bailed me out big time a tree trimmer destroyed my fence and didn't even bother telling about telling me about it. Don't ever use ax caliber tree service anyhow, my fence is currently being held up by benches and chairs and home depot came to my rescue. Their veterans program came out, looked at my fence. They know the importance of somebody with PTS PTSD having dogs for their mental support animals so they decided to turn my broken downward fence into a brand new chain-link fence about 100 foot worth awesome company and they'll give you 10% off if you're a veteran. read more

I was in the Hagers Grove store in Salem, Oregon. I had been chasing around different stores looking for roofing material. I needed plywood and tar sheeting. I hadn't been in the store but a couple of minutes before this young lady associate came to my rescue. My contractor met me there and she escorted us to the right material and she stuck with us till we were ready to go .very helpful, and just plain nice. Whoever hired. Her deserves a pat on the back. Ordered a gas range, paid for delivery and "installation - $119.00. Two young kids showed up and had NO IDEA how to install the range. Left the gas turned on soon the old range when they turned our propane tank back on. They could have blown up the house. Wasted our time and money, put us in danger. Brett at the service desk worked with us to get an online Home Depot deal in the live & technicolor world. Very much appreciated. This Home Depot requires a serendipitous routine to get to. Easy to see, but an adventures to get too. The building seems to be smaller than most Home Depot's. The bathrooms are in the back, and don't feel left out ladies, the boys don't get more space than you do. It's an awkward store, but with great employees. We bought a faucet online from the Salem Home Depot. When the box came parts were missing. We had hired Home Depot to install the faucet. Spent $128.... had to go to Corvallis to get a new one... they now tell me 28 dec to be installed. When we were hoping for it to be installed before thanksgiving.... I talked to the manager, was assured I would get a call back with a new date since we have waited so long.... no return call. I am a retired real estate investor who has used Home Depot many times in the renovation process of several homes over the years. My last experience with Home Depot in SE Salem, Oregon was bad enough that I will never shop in this store again. The first reason is because there was absolutely no one available anywhere in flooring when I went to the store to help me. The second reason follows. The Home Depot located in South East Salem sent their installers (Romanoff) to my new home (vacant) to re-carpet before my movers brought in my furniture the next day. When my husband came to check on their work at the end of the day, he was told that the carpet was 4 feet short in the master bedroom. The installers said it wasn't their fault - Home Depot measured wrong or shorted them. When I called to make Home Depot flooring management aware, and to find out when this could be resolved (hoping that it would be BEFORE the movers brought in all my heavy cherry wood furniture), I was told by Rhonda that the carpet would be ordered from Georgia and she would let me know when it would arrive. Rhonda never called me back. A week later I called the store manager named Brian, who apologized and promised to have the installers move all the furniture themselves at no cost when they returned. He also told me that he or Rhonda would call me back to confirm when the carpet would be here. Again, I never received a call. What I did receive two days later was an email stating that the installers would be back to fix the problem about a month later, which meant that my installation would not be completed for the holiday, (and also that I would have to sleep on a mattress on the floor because my big king bed is complicated to put together and take apart.) I put in two calls to Home Depot again and once again, no call back. The first request for Brian the manager to call me was ignored, so I called again. This time Brian did call, but he seemed unaware of the issue. He did eventually say he "sort of remembered" . He said he would call Romanoff to find out why I had to wait so long to get the problem fixed and then he would call me. Well, folks, I guess I wont hold my breath. Its really a shame that this wasn't handled in a more professional manner. In addition to being a retired real estate investor, I am also a public speaker and a leader in my church community. If someone asks me about Home Depot flooring, my answer will definitely be "shop at Lowes." read more

Went shopping with my husband on Saturday night, we had a shopping cart with about 1000 in home improvement supplies, we left the cart in the plumbing isle near the cash registers to go grab a few more items, and when we returned back to the cart, it was gone. I went to customer service to check with the to see if they had moved it some where and we were told that they had put everything back in the shelve and according to them we had left the cart unattended for about 1/2 hour. It was a total lie, and no employee offered to help. Worst shopping experience ever, no courtesy, no professionalism and the worst part is that the store manager heard us complain about it and he continued to do work on what ever he was doing with out offering any help. We had two orders for pavers that was supposed to be on a pallet and ready at 1:00 pm today. When we arrived at 1:30 they were still not on the pallet. Finally at 1:45 they came, part on the pallet and others loose. I asked for the manager and he acted as if what do you want me to do, put them on the pallet. All he could do was make excuses. I love this Home Depot. I always find what I need. I am always greeted with a smile. There is an associate around every corner if and when I do need help. The best time of year is summer because that means I get to go into the garden dept and Byran is always there with lots of help and a smile. Another added bonus is the free kids clinic they offer. My 3 year old daughter loves it. She has her little apron and they all know her name. This Home depot cares about family.. Can Lowes says that?? Wait one more thing. I know that this home depot is a huge supporter of its community. When the tornado in Aumsville hit they were the first ones to deliver much needed supplies; tarps, plastic sheeting.. (without even being asked)This home depot also builds parks, is involved in helping disabled vets in their Homes and building play houses for little girls with terminal cancer. All that being said... I would not normally write a review over a place like Home Depot but it's sad there's only a single review and it's 1-star. I feel compelled to add a better experience to it's page. I went in to get a great Ryobi Weed Eater that you can only find in Home Depots. I go to the aisle and ask the associate standing in front of the weed eaters if they had one for sale. He said "Nope we don't". Ok that guy was a lazy imbecile who needs to be suspended but I didn't get his name.. I then called the Albany Home Depot and asked if they had one in stock and they said they normally did but were out for a few weeks. Keizer said the same thing. Feeling like I needed to dig deeper, I went back to the weed eaters and saw the one I wanted on display. I didn't see a box to take to the checkout, but this is where the experience got a little better. A different associate Jerry, took a lot of time to try and find the box for the display item. He couldn't, but he called the manager over to ask what they could do to make a sale so I could go home and start working on my yard. They decided to throw in a Lithium battery charger for free. Moral of the story is that the Home Depot does have friendly helpful staff and was the only store around that had the Weed Eater I was looking for. It also had good yard tools for around $5-6 a piece. It is not a 1-star place, except for the first guy we came across. Learn some customer service man! read more

Looking at lawn movers and the salesperson was informative and available. They had an area where they were promoting this brand. He answered our questions and knew the product! This is important when spending $399 on an electric lawnmower. There are so many options and in the end, we were sold and will be picking it up this week. Thank you for time and patience. read more

I was shopping there and some of the item I purchased had the wrong price tags on them and so when I went to purchase them I scanned them and paid for them not even looking at the cost , because I already knew how much I was going to spend and so I checked out ran my card and it gave me my receipt not realizing that the prices rang up as low as they did. My receipt printed all messed up and I showed the worker and she asked me about my purchase and I said it was 3 items and then the manager steps saying what had happened and i say we'll let me pay what I was expecting and he declined saying that he's gonna refund what I purchased and I tried to say something and he cuts me off and very rudely says your lucky I don't call the cops and I say what for and he says shut up, we didn't do a refund and he tells me to stand by the doors cause he's gonna give me what's on the receipt I started to wait and I'm absolutely disgusted at the way I was being treated and left cause the $14 worth of stuff wasn't worth hearing him talk to me so like I'm some piece of trash and he's god. Their loss cause I spent thousands of dollars a year there and now it looks like Lowes here I come. The only thing I can think of about the 2 miss priced item is that maybe someone was going to try and purchase the 2 items and then didn't setting them down together cause the one item wasn't where it was supposed to be on the shelf it was next to one of the other items I picked up, when I picked it up along with the other item I had to walk to the place it belongs to see the price and then decided to keep it for purchase. Absolutely horrendous customer service and experience at this location, especially from the Store Manager Brian Scott. I returned some extra flooring I purchased and forgot my wallet at the customer service desk. After getting home I realized it left it and went right back to the store to get it. I was told by a manager it was found outside by a customer and turned in and they would go get it. After handing me my wallet I immediately saw all of the cash ($370) was taken out of my wallet and confronted the manager about where my wallet was found. An employee overheard the conversation and came over and said he was the one that found my wallet right after I left and it was at the customer service desk and he immediately handed it to customer service who told him the knew who it belonged to because they had just helped me. The manager said he would file a report with corporate and I would receive a call Monday when loss prevention could look at their camera footage. I didn't hear anything back from them by Monday so on Tuesday I went back to the store and asked for a manager. While waiting for a manager the same girl who helped me at customer service was working and saw me and asked if I was back to get my wallet. I told her I got it but all of my cash was missing out. She said she was the one who sent it back to their vault room and nobody touched anything in it before she sent it back. The store manager Brian Scott arrived at this point and I explained everything going on. He said he wasn't aware of the incident and he would check around with his other managers and give me a call. I asked for some type of incident number or way to follow up and he told me "I don't log every incident that happens in the store or I wouldn't get any work done." Not exactly the kind of response I would expect from a store manager, but it's no wonder someone wouldn't fear stealing from a customer's wallet with that type of poor management. I've now had to file a police report and have local law enforcement request the store video to do their own investigation. I definitely won't be shopping at this Home Depot ever again. read more

So this is just based on my experience today. I went to check out and ALL the cash registers were closed except the self-checkout. That's right, you literally had no choice except to go through self-checkout, which I'm sure many people know can be a nightmare, depending on what you're buying. There WAS a girl behind a closed checkout counter who was sort of cherry picking people she wanted to check out, which was weird, because you didn't have the option of joining a line in her lane...she'd swung the door on her lane closed.They have new self-checkout machines so perhaps they are experimenting with having no live cashiers available? It also appears they removed some checkout lanes in order to put in the self-checkout machines, so unless you have an easy order, beware. read more

I went to HD today to get a carpet cleaner I had seen on the website. the website indicated that there were six in stock and listed the aisle number which I thought was very helpful since this store has very few sales associates apparently I have learned from past visits. I found the display model at the aisle specified in the website but the boxes below were caged in with a lock. i went to look for a sales associate and finally found one. he refered me to another sales associate. The sales associate looked around but couldn't find the model I was looking for so she told me she would have to check with someone on the whereabouts of the stock item. she came back and told me to follow her and led me to another part of the store where she showed me boxes of another model which I didn't want. inventory quantities are helpful only if they are accurate and if they can be found. anyhow I shop at HD because it is close but this trip was a complete waste of time. read more

Super frustrated with this particular home depot right now! We are especially proud to frequent their stores, normally, because they show their support with a military discount. For the first time ever, at a home dept store, both Eva and I were denied our military discount because we didn't have our military ids. We both have drivers licences that state we are veterans and have often showed that in lieu of the other id. This is the Salem Home Depot I am talking about. In addition to all of the above, if that weren't enough, there were 4 self serve lanes but only one checker available. Once we purchased our order we had to wait another 15 minutes for someone to load it out for us. I will not shop here again. All other Home Depot stores have been awesome. read more

Purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator (French door/bottom freezer). Lois helped with the purchase and was splendid. Had many helpful suggestions. The third party delivery was disappointing. Home Depot should find a different delivery service. The two men placed the refrigerator, plugged it in and said it was good to go. It took me some time to finish removing portions of the protective plastic wrap and level the appliance. Some packing material had to be removed from the ice maker. I connected the water line preinstalled behind the refrigerator. I found an empty wrapper for the air filter, but the air filter was not installed and never could find it. I ordered another from Amazon because from my inquiry at Home Depot I learned they do not stock the filters. After a few days of purging and use, I could not get the in door water dispenser to stop dripping. Whirlpool warranty service sent a tech to my home. He discovered that the quick connect routed through the top left hinge was not fully connected allowing air into the line to cause the dripping. He fixed the connection and the drip has stopped. No cost to me. Another problem developed after less than a week of use. the left door handle became loose. I attempted to tighten with an Allen wrench, but discovered that the bottom set screw had been cross-threaded which prevented the screw to be properly tightened. Now, I don't know if the cross-threading occurred at the factory or during assembly by the delivery service. The Whirlpool warranty service folks have been outstanding. They were eager to replace my cross-threaded handle, fix the drip and also replaced the freezer drawer handle which had a small gouge in the finish. Not sure, but suspect all of my repairs were due to the poor workmanship of the delivery service used by Home Depot. They'd be better off finding a different provider. It is not often one buys a major appliance, but in the future I'd be inclined to buy from a local appliance business willing to deliver and set up the device to the customer's satisfaction. read more

I went in to look for a Carpet Shampooer the selection was small. *We ended up finding a good one at Walmart*. We were walking out and they coincidentally put some Husky steel shelving unit out. We had to drop some stuff off down the street as it wouldn't fit in the truck. We returned picked up the item we purchased we walked in and see lots of employees sitting around talking behind the counter. The person who I was with struck up a conversation with an employee. Another employee joined the conversation said how someone use to spray paint Penises on the road to get the city to repair potholes. They were selling Husky steel shelfs for $40 which is way Over half off. But the employees and the selection of items is why it gets 2 stars. read more

Generally, I freaking love this store. That said, I had the absolute worst experience here! I came in to talk to their plumbing associates about getting some pipe and what kind to use, although I talked to 2 different associates in the area (one being of that department) and a cashier all referring me to Gene. Now this older gentleman was occupied when I came upon him, but seemed to be the go-to guy as he had an abundance of recommendations for the two gentlemen he was helping. When he finished, he came straight over and asked what I needed, I told him about the project I wanted to get stuff for and the supplies, he offered no alternative, no insight, no anything until I asked if he had heard me as he just told there looking at me like you would a pet or an infant trying to form words. All I needed was some cut pipe and connectors, he told me that they do cut pipe for customers, and then proceeded to tell me to go do it myself. Only after I asked where he expected me to do that did he huffingly take me over to the saw, where he picked it up and thrust it down noisily to show me this was the place, then proceeded to stand there watching me, as if I was his next bit of entertainment(there were no other customers around obviously needing help). After I fumbled around with the box and saw a while, he did something that was finally useful and told me that cutomers use unpurchased measuring tapes from elsewhere in the store to cut it themselves. At this point I was done, as I have never been not-walked to my item's general destintion by a home Depot employee and here it's happened by a handful of them, on top of literally asking for help cutting pipe and being told to just do it myself. I don't know why Gene was so exceptionally rude, I assume it was because I'm an unmarried millennial woman alone in a hardware store, where many from his generation would say is not my place to be, but I find it appalling that anyone in sales would be so negligent of their customers. The only home improvement store you need. Building a chicken coop, and had help from any store associate I walked up to. Got wood, concrete blocks, chicken wire, time roofing, tar paper. Great parking, easy to find all the tools and materials needed, way better thAn Lowes! All employees asked kindly with a great sense of humor. Great prices . We bought appliances before Christmas. It took 3 weeks to deliver. The next day they were on sale. The sales person said we could bring our receipt in within 30 days and could get the sales price. It was 150.00 and management said that we had to bring in receipt within two weeks. They were very curt. We have spent a lot of money with house improvements at this store.
