Unfortunately this will be my first and last time using this company. It was very convenient having the store so close to home but it quickly became a problem when I would have to leave my house just to get an answer on whether or not the items that I have purchased have arrived, I... as many others are probably dealing with can't afford to drive to the store when it's not going to result in any actually completed services. I have spent money on parts for a mower so I can continue making money through my landscaping business, everyday I don't have my parts, I lose money, two weeks and I haven't heard anything and I can no longer afford to drive down there just to ask if my parts are there because I'm also not getting any phone calls. Oh god and then there's the phone issue. I used to manage an auto parts store and our policy was to pick up the call within the first three rings, I called 7 times within the span of 30 minutes and I didn't even get put on hold. I know these guys aren't doing anything as I've watched them completely ignore the phone while I was in the store. I'd be so much more understanding if the store was packed and the phones are ringing off the hook but that's not the case... customer service is trash as well. I'm scared of retaliation since I still haven't seen my parts and I'm sure they'll know who this is but I just want to warn anyone searching for the right store... THIS IS NOT IT GO LOOK ELSEWHERE. My family has been a customer of State Street Saw Shop for a number of years. There is a closer Stihl dealer but we trust this place above the others. We've brought chains in for sharpening, purchased new chains and other supplies, and have even purchased multiple chain saws here. The last purchase we made was because our medium-sized saw had a crack in the crank case. They offered to speak to the Stihl rep to see if such an unusual repair could be covered by the warranty, which was long-since over. Although the rep rejected the idea, State Street Saw Shop offered me a substantial discount on a new saw, which we gladly accepted. In addition to saws, they carry the full line of Stihl products, including weed eaters, trimmer, leaf blowers, and a full line of accessories and can order items they don't carry in inventory. I take my string trimmer here for sevice. The folks are so friently and very helpful. Great customer service! Reasonably priced as well.

These folks should go into training other businesses on how to treat customers and run an operation. They are phenomenal. The only down side is that they are booked well in advance. But, you call and tell them your need. They will give you an honest estimate of how far out you are and set you a reservation. They then ACTUALLY DO follow up and call/email you when you are in range. They then email you when your machine hits the bench, then when done. Just don't lose your claim tag or you'll get dinged $5. You may think that's a bit of minutia but it saves a bunch of time when you are at the counter. They are busy, busy busy. You just need to be prepared to work with a shop that provides excellent results and sticks to a strict timeline so that everyone get done in the right order. When I'm in the Que, I don't want them to drop what they are working on to take a look at some other guys machine out in the car. Business as it should be in America. read more

If I could have gave them less stars I would they had my stihl chainsaw for 4 months to replace a cylinder and piston and still hadn't completed the job when I had finally had enough waiting around. Every time i contacted them they had some reason or another as to why they couldnt get the job done. When i picked up the saw in pieces it was torn down and completely disgusting saw dust and dirt everywhere so now i am looking at tearing it completely down to make sure nothing got into the bottom end and will cause me a problem in the future. Never in my life have i seen a shop treat there customers equipment so pooly. I will never take anything there for repairs again nor will I purchase any equipment or parts. read more

I patronized this shop years ago and always had good service and prices were comparable to the competition for my Stihl tools. We moved to Keizer and so I frequented the local Stihl shop. After having to wait for parts a few times and having a few neighbors with service returns I called State Street this time. The young lady on the phone knew her stuff. She knew immediately what I needed for my older Stihl saw and she had the parts in stock at about 10% less than the other two shops I called (who had to order them). She had the parts bagged and waiting when I arrived the next day. She also suggested a $25 string trimmer head to replace my metal grass blade for my KM 130R. Another shop tried to sell me a whole new arm and string head for $100. I left the shop spending under $100. The other shop I would have spent over $170 and waited for parts. I am glad I revisited State Street Saw Shop and I will be back. read more

When I took my leaf blower in for service they warned me that it would be about 3 1/2 weeks before they could get to it. But when I set it on the counter they saw the problem immediately and fixed it for me on the spot! And...NO CHARGE!!! Customer forever!!! read more

I reviewed your poor service in 2015, you responded in 2017 so you don't really care what customers think. You don't get three strikes, after two I would be a fool to ever go back and I told the sales girl that "I would not be back". My three experiences with State Street Saw Shop, all between June 2018 and January 2019, give insight into the quality of this business. First, my string trimmer had a simple problem which put it out of service. When I told John (owner) that I was willing to buy a second trimmer because I couldn't wait the two weeks for repairs, he offered to fix the original in two hours. His repair charge was very reasonable, not gouging me for fast service. Excellent service, especially when he could have had both the sale and the repair. Second, my old rototiller came back dead from a loan-out. It turned out to be so far gone that it was not fully repairable. They communicated well, gave good information on my options, and provided me the information I needed to make an informed decision on its fate. Third, a combination of Christmas holiday confusion and changing techs mid-job due to illness resulted in poor communication and delays that left me unhappy. I contacted the company directly by email with my concerns after the transaction was complete. Debbie (owner) contacted me within 24 hours, saying that they would review my email with their service team and get back to me. John called today, discussed what had happened, and offered a generous tangible apology - not just words. Everyone errs and misses meeting their own and customers' expectations at times. A true professional with high integrity moves quickly to make it right. John and Debbie acted as true professionals in this matter and I will continue to do business with them. read more

I took a chain saw in for a new chain and was waited on quickly and efficiently. I personally had great service. Very reasonably price fix.

What a fantastic group of people's, I called an hour before their closing time to get a tuneup on my chainsaw on 3/12. They did state that they were busy with other tuneups and there would be a couple day wait. (This completely understandable) I then asked if they had time to simply show me how to fix my chainsaw chain and if it was to tight, they were more than willing to help. I arrived at the store 20-30 minutes before their closing. The wonderful lady at the counter (unfortunately her name escapes me) she was so willing to fix my too tight saw blade and even kicked it on to ensure it was correctly set. She was even willing to show me proper sharpening tools and explained them to me. I purchased the items that she explained that I felt necessary. I left the store feeling safe and that my chainsaw was safe for use!. I'm giving 5 stars simply because of fast, prompt and the willingness to teach and the safety of the customer. I will most certainly purchase all of my power yard tools and etc from state street saw shop!. Thank you for being so RAD!!. read more

I have been dealing with this saw shop for about 10 years since purchasing my original saw. When I first walked in to look at saws I wasn't given much attention being a female and all. Not until I said I wanted to buy one then boy did they come out from behind the counter and give me lots of attention! Just months after my purchase and about 5 cord later, I had some oil leakage and stopped in to ask some questions. Being from a small town and everyone is so helpful I was surprised when the only information they would give me was, "You need to bring it in and we can look at it. It's $40 initially and any other charges will be on top of that." Not even a courtesy, 'You might want to check this or that first and if that doesn't solve it why don't you bring it in and we can look at a few things." All they wanted was my money with no customer service! I asked them point blank is there something I can check that might be causing it and they flat out said, "No, you will have to bring it in." I decided I would live with the oil leak. A few weeks ago I went back in to see if things had changed. My chainsaw was running a little rough and I was wanting to know if there were some things I should check. Again, the same answer. The unfortunate thing is that I really needed a spark plug and chain and had to buy it from them. I am going to do business with Paul's Power Equipment instead. It's more of a drive but the people are nicer and don't treat me like all they want is my money. I'm a customer and I bring you business...but now... I don't! read more

Customer service is horrific. I had done business there for years with the previous owners. These people are not even interested in their reputation. I purchased a mower from them and brought it back for drive repairs well inside the warranty period. They refused to do the service without charging me. They had it taken apart and the bolts were on the table together with some oily grass they'd had to remove. They spoke at length how long it had taken to dismantle and "clean out the grass", and now refused to even put it back together without charging me. (Note: I had washed it fairly clean before bringing it in), They explained something about a string being caught inside which threw a belt off it's track. Rather than simply re-attaching the belt and screwing things back together, they demanded payment. I told them I'd put it back together myself. The woman at the counter (family I understand) played tug-of-war with me for my warranty paperwork. To add insult to injury, the mechanic (also family I'm told) threw the grass back in the bag containing the bolts!! I took it home to discover a missing part they had removed. I called the regional corporate rep for Gravelly and explained what happened. He was disappointed in them and immediately sent me the part I needed as well as direct instructions and a few surrounding parts. I and my family/friends are now doing business elsewhere. read more
