I wish I had a sonic screwdriver but a real and practical one works. Home Depot was where I went to when I needed a tool to put on my new license plates. As with any Home Depot, I was amazed with how large and spacious the store was. Like if you really wanted to, you could have a good hide and seek game there. Anyways, Home Depot is the place cause it has all that you need. Everything is labeled correctly. Things are easy to find. Just got to look up on the sign. Found my screwdriver in less than five minutes. Now the line was a bit long and I waited for quite a bit. There were three cashiers. The one I met was quick and straight to the point. I have fond childhood memories of going to Home Depot with my dad and every person that worked there knew what they were talking about and knew how to assist you. Now? As many have mentioned it is hard to find someone to assist you and even harder to find someone that actually has experience in - painting, construction, plumbing and so forth. 9/10 times when you ask for assistance the staff are not knowledgeable in their departments. Looked on their website for an item. It said that they had 22 in stock. Went into the store asked 3 staff members to assist me in locating it - they found the aisle and the bay but the item was not there. 1st staff members response - you can only order it online 2nd staff members response - we do not have them 3rd staff members response - she found another staff member - Ralph - who went above and beyond to assist me. Yes the 22 items of the product were not in their location. They were in a box in the next bay. Ralph got a ladder and pulled them down for me - took 5 minutes of his time. Everyone was nice - but Ralph actually knew where to look and actually assisted. Find Ralph and you will get the help you need. read more

A DOUBLE MIRACLE at San Leandro HOME DEPOT!! Story #1) Today I went to pick up a small refrigerator that I order a week or so ago. As I was reaching for my wallet, an envelope with $1,300 CASH fell out of my pocket, without my notice, and landed on the floor in front of the register. When I arrived home some 20 minutes later, I noticed the MIA CA$H. I called HD and got KEN on the phone (one of the floor managers) who reviewed the matter alas, no cash to be found. 10 minutes later as I was coming to terms with the lo$$, my phone rang; It was KEN to inform me that the CA$H had been found and awaited my retrieval. (I still can't believe it!) I went immediately to pick up and KEN explained that JANEKA (in "returns") had actually found it and turned it in to KEN. I ask you, how easy would it have been to put that package in a pocket and pretend it never happened??? I am so very thankful!!! Story #2) Before I left with newly my found CA$H, I pulled one item from stock & went through the self check out for purchase. As I was fumbling through my wallet, I suddenly felt some oncoming very ill-affects of a street burrito consumed earlier. It was obvious that I had a matter of seconds before a most embarrassing event would occur... I rushed to the bathroom & made it just in the nick of time. Thank you Jesus! lol I casually returned to the self check-out and reached for my wallet. NADA! WTF!? I ran back to the bathroom (Assuming that I dropped it there) NO-GO! I burst out on to the floor and now noticed a security gaurd following me (Gosh, I wonder why?) No time to explain my upset to him but thought to myself "wow, these guys are really paying attention". I made it back to the self check-out line and found KIM. I asked "Did you happen to find a brown wallet around here?" to which she pointed and said: "Check behind that computer screen". UN-F-ING-BELIEVIABLE! There it was, fully intact! I ask again, how easy would it have been for this wallet to disappear!? To Ken, Janeka, and Kim I say THANK YOU ALL so very much. This episode could have ended very badly indeed but for the fabulous hiring practices of the San Leandro Home Depot. It also occurs to me to mention that over the past 6 months approx, this particular Home Depot has really upped its game! 5 stars! I am not sure what everyone else is thinking when reviewing this place but out of the hundreds and hundreds of trips here, it a solid FIVE stars. They have what I need, more of it, and for less money! Yasmin was the customer service hero on Saturday 4/22! There was also a customer who was part of the legendary tool acquisition named Maxwell! I wont get into the finer details of what we all went through to get a gas powered leaf blower out of a locked cage that no store personnel had the combination too! 30 minutes of extraordinary effort by a complete stranger (Maxwell, who I found was a really nice guy) worked his buttocks off to get me that tool. Maxwell was there to buy a tool to cut down a tree with an 18" trunk. I advised the Ryobi gas powered unit 18" blade on the locked shelf just above mine. For our massive hassle, we both received a $25 discount!!! Patience was paramount here. It took all of 30 minutes but I got my tool, made a friend, overcame some doo do and came out happy! Spring is here so popped in to HD to get a few planters for our garden. Parking here is tricky and tight. A good portion of the garden center assortment are right up front of the main entrance of the store so just keep that in mind. The staff in the garden center is bare to almost none so that's another one to keep in mind especially if you are needing assistance. I did managed to find some nice flowers, and good selections of wood chip beddings. The aisles can feel a bit cramp as this is a smaller home depot compared to their other locations, but all in all, not too bad. I did find their checkout staff to be super friendly which made the whole experience pleasant at the end. Cheers! read more

Good location - and in a convenient location near the highway exit. Compared to Lowes its not as customer friendly or clean or bright inside but sometimes you now what you want and don't feel the need to get fussed over... Been here multiple times over the years - and service has been similar on all occasion. Lines at the register can take a little bit of time. Flooring department is great - bought lots here over the years mostly for self install - carpet installers - i think were sub contractors did a great and fast job years ago. read more

We were needing to pick up a few things at Home Depot and since we were already in the area, we figured why not? This Home Depot, is a little round about in terms of getting to it since the entrance of the plaza is on the side. But it was fine, just a little more driving than necessary. The parking situation is not bad. It's a large plaza with many other shops and restaurants so there's a large parking lot that's shared. I would say that this Home Depot is similar to many other Home Depots. Nothing in particular stands out. We easily found the painters tape and caulk gun that we needed. We did self check out which went fairly smooth and we were on our way. I wouldn't go all the way here for this particular Home Depot unless I needed something right away and they were the only spot that had it. So convenient for those that live nearby, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. read more

1st time & last @ this location, I'm on oxygen & was walking slow, I was looking for blinds & there was a young girl that help me that was rude & seemed so irritated/impatient, every question I asked she would point & walk away, when I asked about the size or color, she was so quick to answer/walk away, I said not finish! after picking the blinds she literally tossed the box in my arms and again walked away, I didn't have a basket but a large bag, I stood their in disbelief & frustrated so I ended up picking wrong size so I put them back very upsett by the service & decided to go back & ask another lady if she could help, she said ok but as I was walking I turned around & she sent the same girl to help me, I said no thanks! and went back to the same lady I wanted help from & said I want you to help me. This place is the worst. Any worker that I talked to (which was 4 separate workers) showed little interest, irritated or have no knowledge of what their own work place provided. All I wanted was to cut an item! Waited 25 minutes and no one came. If someone came they went on the phone to call them over to help cut it still no one came. I went to this location yesterday to return an online order. The receipt was on my phone with a barcode that said "use for returns". The cashier was unsure so she called the lead cashier to help. The lead cashier woman did not know how to use the register. She told me I could only get $100 in store credit. I asked her to scan the receipt, but she kept pushing "no receipt return". That was never going to work. I left and went to the one closer to my house in east oakland. The cashier returned my item no problem and didn't even need my card for the refund. I was in and out in less than one minute. The lead cashier needs further training and learn to be less confrontational with customers. Careless, inattentive,lazy just to be short. Was looking for 60 gallons of berh exterior paint. It wasn't particularly busy on a early AM on a saturday. I asked the paint associate if he can direct me to a sample of berh suede gray actual sample before I commit to buy 60 gallons. He just simply pointed to the sample wall as I was having a hard time locating from the wall and from the touch screen direction. So I asked if he could show me. Then he said when I'm ready he will mix and get back to his phone as no one was in line. Same with the lady at the computer desk one or 2 isle away. Too busy to see a few in line for helps. this is the most inept Home Depot I've ever dealt with in my 30 years as a property owner and manage. I came in person, selected and paid for a $350 workbench, and arranged for deliver ($75 extra). On the day for delivery, my order was mysteriously cancelled. I re-ordered and was assured delivery was set for the next day. HD delivered ... a pencil. A pencil. WTF???????????? After over an hour on hold to various 'customer service lines' and various promises from them, I am still waiting for delivery of the work bench. read more

For a HD, its pretty good. You've got to know what you need, and use their app to help you find stuff in the store. When its busy its tough to find help, but that again is HD. I like this location better than Hayward or Oakland. We visit a couple of times a week for the Oakland Zoo. read more

I consulted with Mr. Charles on the wood choice for outdoor deck stairs (a replacement) and he went above and beyond on great customer service and cutting the wood for me to my exact size needs. Ordered a wine fridge online and since it was a $60 fee to deliver to my house versus the store I had it sent to San Leandro. I got an email saying it was headed to San Leandro and that I was supposed to get another email to pick up. Never got an email so I called the store. The store had no idea where my wine fridge and I called Home Depot and they said the store should have had it. It was a month ordeal where no one knew where the wine fridge was. Thankfully they were quick to refund me in full so I can order on Wayfair. They have a great app, had the same wine fridge for the same price, and offered free shipping. Dear Yelpers: This is the worst store in the Bay Area. SHEER AND UTTER FRUSTRATION the moment you walk in the store. The staffing is off-balance. Meaning there are employees in places where you don't need them and none in the areas where activity is the highest. Prices are ALWAYS off. For example, you will see what price where you retreive the item (take pictures) and then when you arrive to pay, it comes up at a higher price. The staff is the WORST. Let me repeat that: W- O- R-S-T. I want to save ANYONE THE TROUBLE. DON'T BOTHER GOING TO THAT STORE AT ALL. UNLESS, you want to get really angry OR you want to find an excuse to get angry, THEN THIS IS THE PERFECT STORE FOR YOU. But I am assuming everyone wants a pleasant shopping expereince.
