Most people will comment on the bad, not the good. This is a case where everything went right for my delivery and installation of my new washer and dryer: This was top notch! I was given a four hour window and I was notified how many people were ahead of me. I received a call from the delivery person that the would be arriving at a certain time and they did. They uninstalled my old appliances, assembled the new appliance pedestals and hoses and installed all. The tested for water leaks and made sure the dryers heater initiated. The two drivers/installers were terrific. I definitely will go to Home Depot for appliances in the future! read more

My credit card was swiped 5 times because the machine was "not working well "according to the associate, then it took an hour for them to get bark in the back and load it into my car. Three associates were asked to help . One never came back the other left off his shift . One hour!!! Waiting in the car in the hot sun with my dog and child . I was there yesterday to get lightbulbs for my bathroom mirror. I asked someone where they were. He kindly directed me. Then I went to check out. I didn't know it was all self checkout now. The registers were not very user friendly & I had to ring stuff up twice. The man who assisted me was very helpful. As I was checking out, there was a young female employee having a very loud conversation with another employee across the aisle. During this loud conversation, she cussed. I'm no prude and have been known to cuss but I felt this was really inappropriate. read more

Stolen Mini Bike - Please Share Last night at around 8:00 PM, my Coleman camo mini bike was stolen out of the back of my truck while parked in the Pro Parking area at Home Depot. The thieves cut the motorcycle strap and took off with it. There are security cameras all around, but according to Home Depot management, only one person has access to the footage -- and they weren't available when the police came to take the report. Home depot also would not review the footage until the police came with a report and the police were too busy to come investigate that night. They told me to contact them in the morning so I had to wait for the police for Home Depot to review the video. I find it extremely frustrating that I can't view the video of someone stealing from my own vehicle. I hope management will eventually provide access or a copy so I can pursue the individuals responsible in small claims court for the theft, damages, wasted time, and stress this has caused. read more

Special shout-out to Oscar in the Garden center, he climbed all over the racks like a tree monkey and even squeezed in between some huge boxed palms to get pricing on a grouping I couldn't reach. then there was Todd, who just magically materialized out of thin air to help me load nearly half a pallet of block and a bunch of two by sixes, and unfortunately I didn't catch the sweet gals name who I thought worked in Lighting; turns out doesn't - she's from shipping and receiving, didn't bother her though she helped me with all sorts of questions - and was so pleasant & professional. I will of course be completing the survey, and I did call the store and speak to the manager because the service was so far above and beyond, but thought I'd share this great info with anyone looking for great customer service in their home projects. read more

Thank you H D. Santa Maria for the FANTASTIC, friendly customer service on my return today! I simply wheeled in my extra bag of unopened concrete mix in, handed the smiling clerk my receipt (from SLO H.D.) she scanned it, and handed me a 2nd receipt saying the amount had been credited to my HD card! Everyone in your store was very kind and helpful funding things too! (2 other floor clerks). I'll BE BACK! San Luis Obispo HD is HORRIBLE! Just the day before I tried to return a 2x4x8 to my closer San Luis Obispo H.D. and did the same as above but they requested to scan the back of my CA driver's license bar code, besides the receipt. I asked WHY, they said for your identification purposes. I gave her the H.D. credit card saying I purchased it with this, it HAS all my info ON its account! But he said "without scanning your CDL bar code, I can't issue you a refund". I asked for a manager, she walked up with a disgruntled attitude, and said the same thing - even though my CDL had NOTHING to do with either the purchase or return of merchandise! I held my CDL up, said, see, look, it's me! And I'll give you a fake CDL # if that helps to type in - as I got ANGRY! They finally did credit my account, and I left them a one star review on Yelp! Home Depot has gone downhill, unfortunately. We were prepping for a project; their online inventory indicated an abundance of the product we needed. Went to the store and they had zero. This is not the first time the online inventory didn't match what was in the store. My husband reserved & paid for a piece of equipment for this same project. He arrived at the store at 7am to pick it up. He was told they would 'have to find the equipment', they weren't sure where it was (mind you, he had received an email telling him it was ready for pickup). Then the young lady said she'd have to start his reservation (again, he had already reserved it online). He showed her the reservation confirmation. She said she still had to entire all his information into her system (all the info he had already entered). Then she wanted to know if he wanted the insurance; he again pulled out his reservation confirming he had already answered & paid for the insurance. At this point, he was concerned about being double charged. We get the equipment home to start the project & the remote switch for the hose (we were blowing insulation into the attic) wasn't working. This made the job harder. Luckily, we had walkie-talkies so we could communicate when to manually turn the machine off/on. I will say, when we returned the unit & told them about the remote not working, they gave us an agreeable discount. Unfortunately, the service at this store has gone down significantly. We will do the majority of our shopping at Lowe's in the future. read more

I had to go to Home Depot twice, Tuesday and Wednesday. I used the Home Depot app which is excellent and I have no doubts about it. I actually used it 3 weeks ago to order a gas generator. The app has the history, tracking, reviews of products, I mean I can go on forever about this app. It even tells you if the item is in stock, it tells you the aisle of its location. Ok because of Covid-19 the last two times I ordered curbside. Curbside parking is currently makeshift but eventually they will have a permanent parking structure. Right now it's pretty decently set up, with associates tent and the associate coming up to your vehicle to ask for your name, work order number and ID. Another associate will come to you with a basket or flat tray and load your items in the vehicle, in my case it was bags of potting and garden soil. The associates are doing the best they can and I commend them for all what they do for these stressful times. Great job Home Depot. read more

Went to our local Home Depot to have 4 keys made and buy flooring. I was able to find a sales associate quickly, who was able to copy my keys and was very nice. Then I was able to get the last 8 packs of flooring I wanted, score! It was a quick shopping visit and I was feeling like a snack and they had my favorite chips at the checkout counter, double score! I went there to pick up some toilet seats I researched on-line since it is a bit of a drive for me. The website said they had 17 in stock, but there were none on the shelf when I got there. I walked a few isles and found d an employee to help me. He checked and verified they had none according to his system. He asked me if he could help me find an alternative. I told him I already had found a different model, but I had chosen the other because they were $10 cheaper. Without hesitation he offered to price match the ones in-stock to those that were out of stock. It's hard to get help these days, and even harder to find an employee that will listen and responds to what matters in the circumstances. I think his name was Steven. And he got it! The only reason I gave a four-star was because of the website and having to hunt down an employee for help. But great overall. read more

Bought a garage door from Home Depot in the beginning of December. To sum it up, my garage door wasn't installed until beginning of January because they were "waiting on parts from an outside company." Well that should have been a red flag. I only had my garage working for a couple of weeks when it suddenly stopped closing. Now Home Depot and the company that they hired to install my garage have me going in loops with Chamberlain (the brand of the garage opener) saying I should be the one filing an appeal with them. At one point I was even troubleshooting with Chamberlain on the phone because Home Depot and the garage door company said it had to be me. it's now been a month and my brand new garage door is just sitting on the ground not working because no one is able to fix it. Someone was supposed to come out and try to replace part that Chamberlain sent me after I troubleshoot it. But so far no one has come to my home. Do not buy garage doors from Home Depot. You're probably better off buying one from a garage door company. Thousands of dollars down the drain. I am a hard-working person and my hard earned money went to Home Depot for nothing I feel robbed. With the recent flooding and rain I can't even put my car into a garage. read more

I used HD 20 years ago to do a kitchen remodel. Appliances, countertop, backsplash, sink. Great work, done on time, loved the end result. The beginning of July last year I purchased new quartzite countertops and glass black splash for my kitchen. I signed a contract saying it would be 3-4 weeks. That was ok with me. Kristina with a K was very personable and helpful. However, they came out and removed all my old countertops immediately, but it took 4 months to get the new ones. In the meantime, I had open cabinets and drawers underneath, no sink, no stove, no water. I complained and they sent out someone to install a temporary sink and water. But not hot water, that was going to have to be handled by a plumber that I hired. So, I'm washing dishes in the bathtub. HD claimed they received my countertops, but they were defective so they sent them back after having them for weeks before reviewing them. The countertop company told me I had to pay more because they had raised their prices. Chris at HD was the customer support person with whom I was in contact. He is only available by email. He did respond in a timely manner but always had to check with his managers and get back to me. When they delivered the back splash tiles they dropped them off on the driveway so I couldn't use the garage. While the delivery person was still present, I asked them to use the forklift to move the pallet to a spot also on my driveway but not blocking it. They refused. After I called to complain they had to send someone out again to move the tiles because it was weeks before the company who put the tiles in arrived to install. The installation of the countertops and the backsplash finally happened the end of November. The countertop and back splash company both told me they didn't have enough staff to complete the job sooner. HD has not been on top of anything, the pricing or the availability of installers. They have no right to be telling people they will do the job in 3-4 weeks and then take 4 months. It's not about keeping customers happy, it's all about their bottom line. I asked for compensation for the time I had put in to get everything, they awarded me $200 out of a $15,000 job. I will not use HD again for any job. They are just too undependable! read more

I showed them my DD214 and they REFUSED to honor their own veterans discount policy it wasnt even a large purchase- it would have been a small discount but they would NOT do it and created tremendous unnecessary stress and wasted time. Remember, the days when Home Depot had call buttons in the aisles for customer service? Gone are those days...guess they learned customers actually do need customer service. In fact orange vest now means I will not make eye contact with you in case you ask me to help you. Repeatedly every time I visit the store, I have to hunt some unwilling associate down to help me and typically get an excuse as to why they can't help me, but they will send someone over, who rarely arrives. Some focus at least a little on customer service would be an incredible upgrade. I'm not asking that an associate follow me around the store, but I think if an associate is walking around the store, laughing with fellow employees, and on their phone they should be trained to ask if there is anything they can do to assist. I should have checked Yelp before going there as you can see by the amount of 1 star reviews this store is awful. Good luck with this place! I went to buy 2 rolls of fencing, the price on the shelf said 88 dollars, but when I got to the self checkout ( for some reason they do not have regular checkout with a cashier?) I scanned the roll of fence and it rang up for $150. I thought ok maybe it was in the wrong spot so I asked for help finding the correct 88 dollar roll and the worker looked it up and said it is in stock and there are 20 in the store but after looking for about 15 minutes he couldn't find it. So I asked if they would honor the price on the shelf and sell the 150 dollar fence for 88. He contacted a manager on a walkie talkie but the manager couldn't be bothered because he was "on the other side of the store." That's what the manager said He can't come help right now because I'm on the other side of the store, I was in disbelief! The manager said I could buy one fence roll for $88 but not two. I needed two rolls. After lifting these heavy rolls back out of my cart and putting them back on the shelf since I wasn't going to buy them for 150. I returned to the checkout with 30 t posts, as I was ringing myself up I noticed that these were also priced wrong. At this point I was pretty frustrated so I gave up and just paid the price they rang up for because I knew there would be no help from any management or any cashier. Needless to say I will never visit this home Depot again and I highly recommend everyone to avoid this place. The employees and the management are incompetent and no help at all. All together I'd say I wasted about an hour inside the store plus my travel time and I was very frustrated as I left. If you would like your entire day ruined this is the place. Upon unpackaging, the first light was discovered to have been used. The wire nuts were missing, all the other parts were in one opened bag, and the wires were frayed after having been twisted in the (missing) wire nuts. The second light appeared to be new, but was missing the lock nuts that secure the harp to the top cover (also missing from the used light). Reselling a used product as a new product is not good. Most unhelpful staff I haven't dealt with at any Home Depot- all 4 individuals we dealt with had terrible customer service and truly didn't care. It was just shear laziness. No on wanted to help us. We use Home Depot daily with our family business and this was by far the worst experience we have had. First it took several minutes of standing in front of customer service to even be acknowledged. After we were spoken to about our pickup order she directed one of the staff to get the order. We just followed him and found that the order wasn't ours.. he then left us there and never returned! We then went and found our order, I had to go find someone in pro and he didn't want to help.... walking aimlessly around. He added some of the boards that were needed and cracked one. He then mentions to the lady customer service to give us a discount without consulting if I wanted a broken board for our clients! I asked for one that was not cracked, he didn't seem thrilled at any type of work. He didn't want to load the materials. I would encourage this management to do some training on customer service. The customer service was so incredibly inconsiderate of your time. I will stick to the Lompoc location and try to avoid this Home Depot in the future. read more

Went there to buy concrete blocks for a raised garden bed I'm building. Still open for social distance ing, but 1/2 of the staff having no masks, no sanitizer for carts, or at check out stand, cashier no mask, and 3/4 of the customers with no mask or gloves. DISGUSTING! The guy in front of me, wearing a Jacobs plumbing and heating, no mask or gloves touching everything and suddenly walking away for 10 minutes to get something after ringing up 2 things. He was a real Typhoid Mary! Luckily I has sanitizer in my pocket and proceeded to rub it on everything at the check out stand, the cashier visibly annoyed. Last time there ever. Home Depot is a great company, there are many great stores and employees. The problem is this is not a good store and there are only few good employees. The Santa Maria Home Depot acts like they are the only option in town. Their management is very poor and should be removed. Poor customer service, crowded isles, and dirty store. Lowes- clean store, easy to walk down isles, friendly staff and helpful. Not perfect but compared to Home Depot it is 5/5. Lowes is still new, so hopefully they don't become like the Santa Maria Home Depot. If I were the manager of this store I would be humiliated by the Yelp ratings and reviews. Service is usually very spotty and don't even think about calling the store asking for the manager. They won't answer. Ever. Multiple attempts. What a shame. When customer service is poor, it reflects management. Do they care? Do they have enough help? Do they hire and inspire their workers to be extra helpful? There are some here who exemplify some proactivity and courtesy, but unfortunately, it's a rarity. Waiting here for 30 minutes to finish a flooring quote and there is ONE person who can help, and instead of saying "hello, I will be right with you", we get "you should have made an appt". Lowes is coming to town here and many can't wait because maybe, just maybe, HD will wake up when it realizes it's not the only show in town. read more

I get to write this review very HONESTLY. I've been here maybe about 30 plus times within the last few months. Every single time I've never been more disappointed. There is never someone to help you, ever. Thank GOODNESS for Lowes and that they're in Santa Maria. They're always someone to help you there. Always! I am almost finished building my customized house here in Nipomo. We don't have a general contractor. My husband and I are hiring our subs ourselves which means lots of trips back and forth! I've probably spent over $60,000 to Lowes when Home Depot could have gotten those sales. Unfortunately the staff here is obviously understaffed and there is no team work here. Maybe because I am women I get overlooked? There are SO many stories I would love to share about my experiences here but I don't want the employees to get into trouble. I have dates, times and names. It's not their fault, it's how Home Depot is running this place. It's VERY sad and their staff admits no one cares here.
