I'm pretty sure we've all had bad/good experiences at these big box stores, but I consistently have bad times at this location. These disappointments are really based on: service, safety, and availability. Service could be worse, but there isn't much farther to fall down the rabbit hole. Rejected returns, ignorance from the floor workers on specialty questions, and paint specialists flat out ignoring me to chat with each other are just a few examples. Safety is an interesting thing to note, but it might be said. Starting from the moment you turn into the parking lot, I do not feel safe. There are tons of people offering contractor help in the parking lot, wandering the parking lot, and apparently stealing from the shelves. I'm convinced I've witnessed several shoplifters ignoring the cameras to score a few free pieces of copper or hardware. Availability is a no brainer, or should be at least. Big box stores are supposed to have incredible inventories, and be able to leverage massive supply chains to best serve my needs/wants. This is not the case. We ordered a sink only to have it delayed and delayed (eventually, three weeks after originally scheduled delivery, we cancelled.) I get it, they're OK at selling me a light switch or fertilizer...but that seems about it. read more

Disclaimer: The actual employees helping me with my issue were generally good, I tried to remain patient and they put up with me. The real issue is their lack of any form of power from Home Depot. Long story short: Ordered a washer and dryer on behalf of my landlord. Upon delivery the installation guys said they would not install because the dryer was too big (despite me working with the Home Depot crew to take accurate measurements, new vent installation was not accounted for). It took over a week to set up a new order, the company would not swap out the dryer, they required full order refunds and repurchase instead of allowing an alter to the order. At the end of the day they also required a full refund of the washer (which we did not need to exchange). Essentially home depot just triggers automatic refunds from the delivery company, but the refunds take days, and it takes days for the delivery crew to notify Home Depot of an "order refusal", and I don't really have the credit limit to order and reorder thousands of dollars of appliances while waiting days for refunds to occur. read more

Well it's been 4 days and NO response via phone nor email. I called the customer service lady who I thought was the most helpful...got her voicemail saying that her ext has changed (to the EXACT SAME EXT THAT I DIALED!). So much for her help. I started all over and spoke to a new customer service person. She put me on hold and called the store. Apparently the store told her that the person that would be able to help me is on lunch and would call in an hour. It's been an hour and 10 minutes. Yes, that may seem a little finnicky to be griping about that, but after all I have been through, I am a little irked. I am about to call the store and ask to speak with this new manager. I was at the painting department of this Home Depot. I was looking to purchase a can of paint. A woman named KATHLEEN was the worker who was assisting me. I told her what paint I was trying to purchase. She said ok and it would take 10 minutes and she left. So I was waiting for about 10 minutes and she saw me and asked me in a rude way, "You're still here!?". I told her this is my first time here and I didn't know where to wait. She responded to me in the same rude attitude and in a very disrespectful, sarcastic way,"Well we still need to help other customers." So I kept quiet and walked to the other side. She dropped my order on the counter not even looking at me and she didn't even call my name. It was a very bad experience and terrible customer service!!! It's a big box store so product quality is what you pay for it. Sometimes it's difficult to find staff to answer questions. But the staff I have dealt with have been kind, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Today we were picking up a huge online order and while we were between pickups one of our items went missing and customer service went above and beyond to try and find it, call corporate, and offer a solution even to price match a comparable if more expensive item to compensate for the inconvenience. If you are looking for a timely delivery DO NOT use Home Depot. This has been an over the top exercise in frustration. Two weeks after the order for a GE Washer we still do not have it because: there was no washer to deliver so they rescheduled. A good and polite crew of three men arrived with the machine but....it had been dropped at some point and was too damaged for use. Third try the rude (new) crew could not or would not connect the washer (we had paid for the service) and would not leave the washer. WOW!! The manager of the subcontrator delivery service has stepped up and it was finally delivered and installed. read more

Jesse in costumer service has promised me multiple times he would resolve my issue and hasn't... don't work with him he has a memorized speech that he feels is nice but no action. I bought 4 appliances which was a nightmare and should have been my first indication to stop buying it. They messed up the order having me buy another 4. The delivery company refused to to deliver even though we made it clear we live in a condo with no parking that they would have to park on the street. The appliances manager ended up be nice and picking them up and attempting to install... however he didn't know how to. Ended up having to pay more money to have someone install. Horrific experience at Home Depot. Me and my friend were trying to get an air conditioner for her place. We were trying to decide which one to get and a male worker (tall brown hair) came up to us and said he had a solution for us. I thought he was gonna say something helpful but instead he proceeds to tell us how he lives in a basement and it is just down the road.... I was shocked that this was even an employee saying something like this to us. There is no reason for employee to speak to a customer like that especially young girls it was very creepy and we were so shocked we didn't know what to say I wish I had looked at his name tag better. He continue to keep speaking to us about his apartment and we were just slowly walking away we just grabbed an AC and left because we were so uncomfortable. We ordered shades from this Home Depot less than a year ago. The ordering process was interesting since the person there didn't know much about the products. The mechanism to open them does not work well on any, so I called because they are still under warranty per the terms and conditions that I have with my invoice. I was told that I need to contact the manufacturer, who "will have you contact us to replace them." It is worth it to spend more money elsewhere to receive better service. read more

I was in need of a new toolbox, I was looking for a particular one. The website is super dodgy and only ever displays "call for availability". So I call multiple stores, seldom does anybody answer, and when they do I am redirected on hold for the tools department forever until they just drop the call, I've never actually gotten anyone to help me or pick up. When I found the box in stock at some nearby stores I drove to them to find the employees are telling me it was a mistake and that I have to go somewhere else. Often times I'll be at any of these Home Depot stores and find 4-7 customer service department people all standing behind the counter doing seemingly nothing, and their functional expertise is 0. As a professional technician I always shopped at Home Depot for the Milwaukee brand tools, but I think I will forever be redirecting my shopping to ace hardware or Lowes instead because it always seems to be a much less crappy experience when I go to those places, ace hardware especially houses a lot of seemingly retired tradesmen who actually know what they're doing, and I won't waste gas money driving to stores that can't verify inventory. read more

Farhon (I believe that was his name) came up to me in the plumbing department to see if I was doing alright (May have been due to the quizzical look on my face)... when I told him I needed to replicate a p-trap assembly for a shower I was replacing (I brought the old one in to the store for reference) he immediately jumped in to help... pulled all the separate pieces out so quickly I could barely keep up with him and was very pleasant the entire time. DO NOT USE HOME DEPOT DELIVERY SERVICE!! We ordered a rather expensive refrigerator (and haul-away of our old one) with an in-store sales person who was very helpful. After finishing our transaction, she also explained Home Depot uses contract delivery services and we should carefully inspect the item while it's still on the truck before accepting delivery. What we weren't expecting was a delivery agent arriving in an unmarked truck, who refused to take our old refrigerator, and who refused to provide his name or an explanation. He just kept saying "we don't take that kind of refrigerator." After 15 minutes of back-and-forth we refused the delivery and told him to leave. After racing down to Home Depot to get a refund we went down the street to Lowe's and purchased the exact same fridge. We even got a 10% veteran's discount as part of a Memorial Day sale. But most importantly, they assured us our fridge would be delivered by Lowe's employees in a Lowe's truck and they would take away any old fridge we had. read more

Came here on a Wednesday night looking for flooring and carpet for rentals... Everyone was super helpful and at least five people asked us if we needed help.. Finally when we needed help Linda in Carpets totally took a lot of time telling us about different carpet pricing and specials... After spending a hour with Linda we purchased carpet and flooring for two units and scheduled installation with a special that included measurements and installation which you can't beat!! The store was nice and clean and the cashier who checked us out when we bought some misc items was super friendly as well.. At Home Depot on Aurora yesterday, I saw a good price on a the display model of an appliance. Today I went back to buy it, and the the manager, Kyle McKinnon, said he would not honor the price taped to the appliance. "I can't honor a price that was a mistake by an employee," he said. I wasted a bunch of time while they figured things out. I wasted a trip. In the end they claimed they couldn't sell the appliance to me, so I left empty-handed. A frustrating experience, a time-suck, and kind of a lame response by the manager. UPDATE - Happy Ending Story: An Assistant Manager I had spoken to, Ana Greene, went to bat for me later. She called to tell me that she told the manager that the posted price was the price I should get, and he finally agreed. Yea Ana! The customer service is pretty good if you can track someone down. The coffee shop is pretty decent and the taco truck on the hill nearby is great. I wish that they were more environmental and local in their selection but that is asking a lot. I try not to buy plants here... Go to Sky Nursery or Swansons instead. Not a bad home depot. It is clean, organized, and located in a convenient location. My husband and I have come here to buy cleaning supplies, flowers, and other knickknacks we need to improve the functionality of our house. This home depot location also rents out large vans to their customers for a pretty affordable price. We've had to move large items in the past and we've always come here to use their trucks. Also, if you buy a large quantity of their merchandise, I found out that the people at the check out stand could give you a discount. My husband asked for a discount since we were buying a heck of a lot of light bulbs. Another positive feature of this place is that you can go get a burrito right before or after shopping. El Camion's food truck is located right near their parking lot. If you're ever hungry, you can grab something quickly to go. The employees who work there are good and bad. We've encountered some who are really helpful and others who don't seem to want to help you at all. read more

My wife and I ordered a new kitchen faucet set from HD online, and it was missing some key parts when it arrived. I called HD helpline, and they suggested to bring it into a nearby store for direct assistance. We did so and met 2 store staff, most notably Moses Union. Moses went above and beyond, first correctly ID'ing the parts in question, then testing compatibility to ensure it would work, and finally scanning the parts in question in the aisle and providing them without any further issues. When we arrived home our account had been credited over the amount the replacement parts would have cost, without any further action on our behalf. Very impressive customer service, and full props to all involved ( although, honestly, how do you leave parts out of the box in the first place. That was a wee bit troubling.) However, the fix was pleasant and rewarding. Recommend this store, and search out Moses. He rocks! read more

I was discriminated against. I am not sure if it is because I am Asian. I was waiting quietly after an American lady. The lady and I chatted and laughed briefly. The personnel answered her question and offered a lot of suggestions. Then I started to ask mine and he was so impatient. The lady came back to pick up a product and he offered to help. The lady politely refused his help and told him to help me. But he insisted to help her. I then again didn't say anything. But when he was done with the lady, he turned to me and again became very impatient. As an Asian female who has been in the US for 10 years and who has been popular among my American friends, I am very disappointed about what just happened. Do not buy any large appliances at Home Depot. I ordered a fridge and it ended up being smaller than I expected. When I called the next day they told me Home Depot doesn't allow exchanged on fridges but sometimes store managers will make exceptions. I talked to the store manager and he told me no. Next time buy everything at Lowe's, their return policy, large appliances included, is so much better. They'll give you 30 days to figure out if you like a fridge, Home Depot just takes your money and runs. read more

This place is a complete joke. I ordered a 8000 BTU Air conditioner from Home Depot online. I went to go pick up the unit later that day (6/6/2016). I waited nearly 20 minutes before someone would help me, there were 3 associates assisting one customer, and then a few just standing around looking lost. I was harassed by some Home Depot Marketing guy about re-modeling my bathroom and kitchen, after I told him I was NOT interested he left all angrily. After 20 minutes of waiting, someone finally decides to help me with my pick up order, I had to repeat my name 4 times to the associate (it is not a hard name to get). He then brings me out this air conditioner unit and does not put it in a cart for me (every other associate loaded customer air conditioners onto a cart and assisted the customer outside). This associated handed it to me and didn't say more than 4 words to me the entire time and was super rude. I hate Home Depot and I hate this location even more. I will not be back here. read more

This is the same Home Depot you expect in every town. They have almost everything you could think of for any DIY home project and then some. There is one thing, however, that they do not have and that's good customer service. I am a previous Home Depot employee and know what is supposed to happen in their stores. I took pride in the service I gave to my customers so when I come into this location I am deeply disappointed. They employ a lot of people and as such there are always employees everywhere but they never seem eager to help and when you corral one they are always hurried, almost never walk you to a product but just point instead and I have even had an employee tell me to ask my question faster because they were in a hurry. This is completely unacceptable. I wonder if their SM and or DM understand the service their employees are giving. If they know the state of customer service in this location and are not taking the steps needed to correct it then they need to lose their jobs. Lowes is really close by. Want to have a wood or vinyl board cut to fit into your car? Be prepared to drag it from the back of the store up to the front, pay for it, drag it all the way to the back again, beg and plead for someone to help you, show them proof that you've paid, get your board cut (maybe?), then lug the pieces back out front where you will be interrogated for proof that you've paid once again. Set aside 30 minutes of your weekend for pain and humiliation. This place is awful even for things that should be easy. Don't get me started on custom doors and windows. Drive to another Home Depot if you must use them. Don't reward these guys for being this customer unfriendly. read more
