Overall a great experience at this HD. Parking is plentiful, the store is well organized and clean, the aisles wide and ample. If I could post 0 stars I would. I purchased a $158 item last October. Yes a long time ago, 2 months past their 90 day policy. Ok so I'll take a store credit rather than the amount going back on my credit card. I had my receipt, and the item, still in my car. Never took it out of my car even. My tough luck, after 90 days they not only don't have to return your money, they can even deny a store credit. This is good customer service. I think not. New refrigerator stopped working after 5 days and the best the store could do was schedule a tech two weeks out who never showed. Rescheduled another tech two weeks out. Over a month without a working refrigerator and the store would not offer a new unit or a refund to go out and buy a new one. Claims that the manufacturer can only replace the item if not fixable. It's BRAND NEW!!!! The manufacturer claims the only place that can offer a refund is the place it was purchased. That makes sense but Home Depot doesn't offer refunds on appliances. Save yourself the stress and aggravation and buy appliances from an appliance store. They will make sure you are satisfied or they wouldn't be in business. Home Depot is so big, they could care less. Turns out, they only had ONE, in Smithfield. The young lady helping me called ahead so that the store would hold it FOR me!!! I can only comment on the order pick-up section since that was our only business here. We ordered some items for out bathroom renovation project and had them delivered to this location for pick-up. The line moved very quickly, it was fully staffed with very friendly associates who while conducting the transaction asked about what we were doing and if we had some before pictures and what the project looks like now. Two even offered helpful tips about past renovations they were involved in. The store itself was clean, it was a Saturday morning and quite busy but we were greeted when we walked in and asked if we needed anything or if there were was anything we needed help looking for. After leaving the pick-up area we were approached two more times by two different associates asking if we needed any help. First impression is that it's a good store with friendly staff. We will most likely be back again as we continue to do home renovations. read more

Let me begin this review by saying that not only do I not own my own home, I am quite incompetent when it comes to home repairs and am baffled by other's abilities to look at an item requiring repairs/renovation and determine what needs to be done and what supplies are essential to complete it. That having been said. . . I love going to The Home Depot! Granted, as a child, I thought it was the most incredibly boring experience of my life. The only saving grace during those times were the over-sized orange carriages (so both my brother and I could comfortably fit in among the intended purchases) and the carts with the 3 metal bars for larger plywood purchases (they were as close to a jungle gym and "fun" as we were gonna get for the coming hour or so of browsing aisles for supplies). Nowadays, I still do not require nearly the extent to which this store has to offer. As Mitch Hedberg once said "I went to the Home Depot the other day, which was unnecessary... I need to go to the Apartment Depot, which is just a big warehouse with people standing around saying "hey, we ain't gotta fix sh*t!" On the rare occasion that I do require something from this store. . . the associates are friendly and willing to guide and help me in finding what I need. I imagine that when I walk in, a giant neon sign appears above my head blinking "clueless" as I gape up at the warehouse sized aisles in search of whatever it is I need. I simply hand over my desired object (be it an odd lightbulb needing replacement, keys to be copied, or photos of plants I want) and the associates are kind and courteous as they locate what would have taken me hours to find in this immense establishment. The website has links to a floor plan of this business, so I can at least have somewhat of an idea of where I need to begin before entering. For me. . . I know that light bulbs are straight ahead, greenery is directly right. . . and after that its up to the employees to direct me through the mysterious jungle that is The Home Depot. Checkout is generally pretty quick, they even have those nifty self-checkout kiosks. One kind of annoying thing is that the entrance and the exit are on two separate sides of the building. . . meaning wherever you park, you are guaranteed a good walk either to or from the business. Not that I need to complain. . .its mainly others who need to do a few extra push ups to lug their heavy equipment long distance. Perhaps someday I will utilize this business to its full potential but for now, it does an excellent job fulfilling my meager needs. read more

I'll be quite honest with ya, I am just not very handy with tools. For all of my indoor work (painting, remodeling, dusting shelves) I leave it to the pros. However, I'm a fanatic when it comes to my yard and even though I now contract out the mowing of my lawn (man am I lazy), I do actually perform all (most) other yard work. Back in June I thought I needed to replace my back fence but I decided to rent a power washer instead from Home Depot. The guys who work in the tool rental department are friendly and knowledgeable, and low and behold when I power washed my fence I discovered a BEAUTIFUL fence underneath all the mildew and grey. When I returned the power washer and told the guy the great news he said, "Well, now you should stain it." Oh wow, I didn't even think of that. For the first coat of stain I decided to use a paintbrush and while the fence looked incredible afterwards, I missed some spots due to the texture of the wood. I went back to Home Depot this week to rent a paint sprayer and yet again the associate was extremely friendly and helpful. After giving the fence a good ole' second coat of stain using the ultra-cool paint gun (pew pew!) it looks like a a brand new fence. I'm so proud of my work I'm posting a picture for everyone to drool over. I highly recommend the tool rental department at Home Depot. The rest of the store is pretty groovy as well. read more

Worst "Kitchen Design Services" appointment ever! Don't waste your time; they read a script from one sheet of paper to you and tell you to pick the cabinets, that will be in 2 months before they give you an estimate for if they can do the work. So you need to store all the cabinets and extra fixtures until they can give you a schedule and final price? Talk about illogical and unhelpful. Save yourself the "dog and no pony show". I ordered a GE Dryer from Home Depot waited two weeks for delivery, only for them to deliver a dented/damaged dryer. They hauled away our old one and told us they would send a replacement in two weeks. Two weeks later a delivery truck shows up with two men here to "service" the non-existent dryer. I called GE and got a weak apology with a new delivery date for a few days later. I have NEVER seen such incompetence from two major companies in my life. This is for Home Depot South Boston. I had a roof installed by a subcontractor for Home Depot. It was a commercial grade roof & was improperly installed in 2017. I have asbestos shingles. The roofer knew it was asbestos & knew he was restricted in what he could do to install the roof. He didn't have an asbestos license for remediation so by code, he was banned from installing it unless he called in a remediator. He didn't. He tried putting the membrane roof inbetween the shingles, pulled shingles out, and put silicon everywhere there was a gap between the shingles and everywhere around my window frames. As a result, shingles got loose or dropped off after being disturbed so abruptly. It appears water has been leaking into my house for over a year! I have video from April of this year with leaking occurring in two different parts of my second floor simultaneously. I have Water damage from my third floor down to my first in my 115 year old home. I'm concerned about mold again, which I had previously abated before this happened. Black liquid leaked over my bed from a ceiling, severely damaging it. The wood in the stairwell is now shot because of all the moisture that's been in the air. I contacted a bigwig via e-mail to express my concerns at living in this environment. The manager told the associate at Sedgwick of Home Depot that "since I decided to contact so and so, here's a settlement. Take it or leave it. I don't want anymore estimates from you. Petty and highly unprofessional!!!. I can't leave this house as is because it will be condemned, and it's hazardous to reside here because of the mold. I will will re-email the person I did before and update him. Hopefully he has great character and will not allow people to push a customer under the rug. I get giddy about going to home improvement stores. My husband and I recently became the proud parents of an lovely mid-century ranch that was in apparently time capsule condition. Then, the little problems started to crop up, mostly in the bathroom, until I realized that if I wanted to, I could pull the tiles off the walls, the grout was nearly gone, and we had a leak. To Home Depot, we went. What I especially like about this location is that nearly all the employees are not only knowledgeable, but are also willing to talk to you without A Man present. Don't laugh. I can't tell you how many times I've gone somewhere with a question and gotten a "hire someone" answer. In the interest of full disclosure, my father's a contractor and unless it's wiring or serious plumbing, I have a good idea what I'm doing. Several of the associates here have actual experience in the department they're working in. I geeked out for a good half hour with a man in plumbing over a toilet replacement and a new shut-off valve. Home Depot is a bit more hands on than the Lowes up the street, but don't let that dissuade you. When I've comparison shopped the two for my last big project, Home Depot's prices are better, by quite a bit. I've been more than pleased by their customer service, as well. I feel like the spirit of the customer being right is alive and well here. I've only had a couple quibbles, keeping this from being five stars. There are a couple less than stellar associates floating around: one I asked about a certain part which was not in its correct place. At this point, I was 6 months or so pregnant and not so bendy. The associate looked at me, said it was somewhere on the bottom rack, and I could look for it before wandering off. Not cool. Second was seasonally related. A friend, my kid, and I had gone to pick up a Christmas tree. The first associate was super helpful, we shopped around, and came back to retrieve our tree. A different associate was there, watched as we humped the tree over to my crummy little car, and hefted on top. I went back to ask from string to tie it up, he huffed like it was a great bother, and rather sarcastically told me that he "hoped I knew how to tie knots". This is frustrating because we'd watched him very politely help another woman, a bit older than myself, load her tree on, no snarky comments required. But those moments are few and far between. read more

While I find I prefer this HD to the one in Providence, it's still lacking in one crucial thing: a staff that is reliably helpful and knows their inventory. I've been here many times throughout all the seasons, and while I can usually find what I am looking for, it's a crap shoot wether the staff will a) know what I am talking about and b) know where it is. On a recent trip for a roof rake (yes, it's a thing!) the woman who approached us had no idea what we were talking about, where to find it or what it was when we checked out. What I can say of this location is that it's enormous and well-stocked. It's easy to navigate (like most HDs) and the prices are usually the best. However, they should do a bit more when it comes to training and educating their staff -- I would love to save myself time by not having to work my way through the aisles to find what I am looking for, especially if it's on special and right at the front entrance! read more

I have tried to get information on 3 garage doors and have called 4 Different times and have spent a total of 75 minutes on hold. They tell me there going to connect me to millworks but the person who picks up informs me she does not work in the department and puts me on hold. They tell me there busy today so I ask to speak to the manager Sara Chandler but she's off today. REALLY!! If she had any intelligence or HD headquarters had any intelligence in how they operate there stores they would not allow the manager to take the day off. The first 35 years of my life, I went to Home Depot a handful of times. The last year, it seems like I'm there every week due to the fact my wife and I bought a house last June. My last 2 visits there have been outstanding experiences. I needed to install a door closer, and a gentleman there was more than happy to help me find an appropriate drill bit that cuts through metal. The other time, I was having trouble installing a ceiling light and the "lighting expert" there gave me a quick lesson that made things easy. I gotta deduct a star (for now) due to one recent strange experience. My wife and I were casually looking at firepits when one of the workers there said "sooo..looking at firepits?" - we indicated we didn't need any help, but he proceeded to creepily hang out with us anyway (leaning against a shelf and staring at us). We were scared off quickly. We'll have to check the firepits out again on our next visit. read more

When I approached two orange apron wearing staff members and asked if they had what I was looking for, they pointed me in the direction of the wrong item. I continued my search, never to find what I came for or another associate so I gave up, only to be wished to have a nice day by the four associates standing by the door as I left. The staff are nice and helpful enough - (if) you can find someone on the floor to help you find things through what can only be described as a very disorganized, messy and overall unappealing store. The overhead lighting is rather dim and shopping in such a dank environment is rather depressing. I am a serious gardener and am especially dismayed by their garden center's serious lack of attention to the proper care and watering of their stock seasonal shrubs, trees and plants. Trees and shrubs are left out en mass to bake to death out in an uncovered asphalt corral. The indoor area isn't much better. This store is an absolute disaster area compared to their competition down the street. Lastly, if you ever need to return something - even with a receipt -it's a drawn out pain in the *** because their register computer systems are so slow and complicated. The customer service desk staff are always running into issues they can't resolve, and inevitably you have wait while they call a supervisor to come over and help them through what at other stores is a simple and quick procedure. read more

Purchased a new dishwasher from Home depot and after reading all the fine print made sure to purchase all the required parts for installation. Dishwasher gets delivered today and they tell me they don't do installation and that even though it says on my order "FREE INSTALLATION WITH PURCHASE OF DISHWASHER CONNECTION KIT" That I will have to pay an additional fee of $150 to have it installed. Its a dishwasher..a dishwasher replacing an old dishwasher. Needless to say, overall customer service at the call center (who was confused why it wasn't installed and assured me the seekonk location where I bought the dishwasher would fix the issue) was better than the customer service I received from this location. read more

We recently moved and have been going to the Seekonk Home Depot a number of times over the past couple of weeks. Every time we go, the service gets worse and worse. On our most recent trip, we wanted to buy some black out shades for our children and guest rooms. We understood that Home Depot could make this easy and would custom cut the shades on site. However, it was not easy. First, we struggled to find anyone in the store who could help us. This is so unusual, at most Home Depots there are too many helpful associates, if such a thing can be said. Once we found someone to help in the blinds department, she was helping another customer, which was perfectly fine with us - we are patient people, happy to wait our turn - but when she was done with the customers, she ignored us and then literally scowled at us when we said we still needed help. Then she was totally unhelpful. Did not seem to know much about the product, and was very condescending when we asked reasonable questions about sizing. Needless to say, we did not find what we wanted and instead of spending several hundred dollars on blinds, we walked out with about $15 in cheap temporary DIY shades until we can find a place that will actually help us with our purchase. This is really too bad, because generally we like the Home Depot a lot, find the employees to be knowledgeable and helpful, and we have spent several thousand dollars at the HD just in the last week alone. Will rethink future home improvement purchases after this experience. read more

If I could leave a zero I would. Went to find a smart walking system. I asked an associate for help, he told me he didn't work in that area. Waited in the department for a very long time. Found another associate who I inconvenienced by asking for help. He tried calling someone from a desk phone, couldn't get a line then paged over the intercom. Waited another generous amount of time. Still no one in the entire department, mind you. I walked around the department and saw the first associate who got on his handy-dandy pants store phone to call a manager, after telling me he was sorry for such a long wait (since he was the original person I spoke to). Waited 5-10 more minutes, went to the same associate again. He said, wow. Another customer told me to go to the service desk, they will help me much faster. I gave up, asked for the corporate office number. They told me I could only get the 800HOMEDEPOT number, & corporate will not take the call, they are corporate.
