Attempted to do a curbside pickup since my newborn daughter was almost asleep in the car. There was only one other car waiting. After a 30 minute wait I nearly canceled the pickup to go inside and get what I needed myself. I really don't feel comfortable taking my daughter into stores yet but after a 20 minute drive and 30 minute wait (with a 35 minute drive home and counting as I watched the traffic climb on the gps) I felt I needed to get this item. Store It can be challenging during peak times to find good help and items. As far as what they carry, this HD is priceless. I come here for my annual mulch run and air filters. I can't imagine going anywhere else. Excellent location and friendly staff. I find their selection of tiles, paints and gardening supplies to be overwhelming at times but impressive Appliances feels scattered and I prefer Best Buy or shopping online. Unless their item is on clearance, they don't carry any inventory for major appliances. Basically pay and they ship to your home. Might as well shop online. Home furnishings I used HD For first time to reface cabinets and replace kitchen counter. I was impressed with the professionalism and service for the most part. Pricy but timely. Warranty is what did it for me - 5 years for cabinets and 15 years for counter. Warning. Fix or change one damn thing in your house and suddenly everything needs work. Damn you HGTV. The Associate (at the 800 number) told me to order the item and after it was delivered to do the following : she said to accept the package then go to the local Home Depot...at that point, at the store ask for a refund, then repurchase the item at that time with the store credit. This store have inconsistent coupon policy. One day they accept a Lowes coupon and another they don't b/c the item is on sale. Some day they accept the coupon when the item is on sale but not when its on clearance or special buy. I'm talking about the coupon card I receive from Lowes mailing that are $10 off $50 or $25 off $250. The managers just make up their interpretation of policy as they see fit. There is a disconnect from their online ordering system to their store system. If you pricematch with an online order, they won't believe the pricematch and waste your time making you prove the pricematch when its already commented in the order by their own people. When you order online, they can price match but they can't honor their policy of beat the competitor by 10% of the difference. They send you the store where the useless manager again depending how he feels, he'll work with you or not. Useless store manager says they don't price reputable seller like Northern Tool b/c its an online shop (with free shipping to home) but their own online people did pricematch it for me. Just refused to give me store credit for an item purchsed on my cc one month ago which did not show up. I hope I have the receipt at home. I will return it and then I am not going to shop at Home Depot anymore. The employee who was supposed to process the return and then the manager I asked to speak with acted like they could care less that I was getting ripped off by their refusal to store credit for an item I purchased. I have been shopping at the store for over 30 Years- way longer than either of them have been working here I am sure. I called the 800 number and asked if they could do something- the person I spoke with acted like he could care less but he said that the policy is they are supposed to give me a store credit but he cant enforce it and if I choose not to shop there anymore it's my choice lol. He said he can't call them and tell them what to do because they are only under contract with the name of Home Depot. Super convenient and easy to navigate, they have everything you need for general projects. The guys in Centereach know everything and are very nice and helpful. I love the buy it online and pick it up there option. Here's a few tips and recommendations... 1. Lumber pricing is not the best, so check lumber mills like Sider for better prices and free or cheap delivery. 2. They have way too many 3rd party sales people aggressively stalking you or confronting you in the store. I'm just buying crap for a specific job, I'm not there to window shop so leave me alone if I don't engage you. 3. I purchase a freezer from Home Depot on 04/20 and also purchase the Home Depot Protection Plan. Well let's just say I will most likely never purchase anything else from 1 of my favorite store. On the 25th of August my wife notice a smell coming from the basement, after 1 hour of searching (I was prepare to find a dead animal) I finally open the freezer and the smell was like a dead animal. The freezer was not working, needless to say all the food in there was damage. I called home depot, it was almost impossible to get a copy of the purchase. They told me to call the protection plan which i did. Today is the 15th of sept. and I still don't have a working freezer. Protection plan got an appointment for some one to come in and fix it (Rod's TV Appliance serv) Rod's TV was supposed to be there on the 30th but they show up on the 31. The tech after 15 minutes told me, he was not able to fix the problem. So I asked him if some one else would come back the same day and he told me some one will be in touch with me. Like I say today is the 15th of Sept. I have called and left multiple messages to Rod's TV serv with no call back or follow up at from them. I also have called the Home Depot Protection plan with no success or resolution. This is becoming a sore in you know where, all I want is for the freezer to work. I lost probably about if not more than 1,500 dollars of frozen food. The protection is sending me a $50 dollars for my issue. You can take that 50 dollars and put it where the sun don't shine!!!!!!! I have never put any good or bad reviews but this one takes the cake. The last time i spoke with the protection plan on the 13th of Sept. I was told they will put for a full refund or a different tech would come on today. This store needs to get its act together. I went here tonight to purchase Nest CO/Smoke Detectors. Target had them advertised for $84.99 ($99.99 + 15% off). Home Depot advertises that they will match the price and beat it by 10%, which would be $76.49. So, I went to the register and asked for a price match. First, I was told they would not do the price match because Target is NOT a competitor. Are they serious? How is Target not a competitor??? They sell the same product and they are in the same parking lot. Then, they said they would get a manager and see what she said. After going back and forth, she finally agreed to match the price, like she was doing me a favor. She would NOT beat the price by 10%, which is Home Depot's policy. So, I said forget it and walked out. When I got home, I looked up Home Depot's policy to make sure I was not mistaken. From the Home Depot website: If you find a current lower price on an identical, in-stock item from ANY RETAILER, we will match the price and beat it by 10%. Just bring the ad, printout or photo with you to the register for validation. I brought the ad with me to the register and the item was identical and in stock. Home Depot's policy says they will match "ANY RETAILER". I'm pretty sure Target qualifies as "any retailer." NO WHERE does it say Home Depot only matches the prices of its competitors and its competitors are determined by the manager on duty. I planned to purchase several other items at HD this evening as well. Instead, they were all purchased next door at Target, their "non competitor." I walked over to customer service, stood there for about 10 minutes without being acknowledged by two female sales associates. They were busy yapping away about their personal lives. I said, excuse me.. sorry to interrupt and continue to ask my question. 1) both were abrupt and very rude 2) both gave me wrong information. This place is terrible. Do not go there at all if you ever want to find something useful, ask an employee for anything, or if you do get a reply from an employee, do not believe it. Home depot originally started as a company that paid their employees very well. They would hire master plumbers and master electricians at high rates for retail to staff the respective locations. So when you asked the guy where to find a 3/4" union or something he would know. Also if something was not in stock, they would get it for you. Even the regular employees got paid ok, so if you wanted a sheet of plywood ripped, they would cut it accurately and not act like you were burdening them. That has changed ever since 2000 -2007 where bob nardelli took over (the guy that got fired and got a 300 million dollar golden parachute) and decided wisely to fire all high paid employees and replace them w ppl making less than $10 an hour to make the bottom line higher. Kinda like what Circuit city also did. Well everyone has horror stories of walking into circuit city, and people do not forget bad service. Home Depot will suffer the same fate. I went to this home depot and simply asked for a 2*4 to be cut to 36 inches. I get home, it is 34.25 inches. I go into the tool corral and ask the guy to get me a hammer drill bit out of the locked cabinet and he proceeds to talk to me in a cocky manner "you know this is for a hammer drill right?" I was like yeahhh or I would not have asked for the hammer drill bit! It is impossible to find someone when you need something from a locked thing too. I took a lightbulb changing rod down once and some idiot put a squeege on top which landed right in my eye and scratched it, it hurt for a month. They have so many products that are so diverse that you can never determine where certain products would be, and if you asked someone they had no idea either. Bottom line is if you want hardware, go to a hardware store. Electrical.. go to a supply house and same with plumbing. The huge DIY warehouse idea was good at first but home depot ruined it. read more

(These are usually the more senior employees) But the other 90% of them are useless. They don't know where anything in the store is.. There's a lot of people standing around with orange vests doing nothing.. but they are too busy to help you. Some of them will point and say, "It's just down aisle whatever." It's never down that aisle. The official home depot website is pretty awful; it's not even slightly intuitive to navigate or find an item and determine whether it's in your store. So you need to call the Setauket Home Depot. Get ready to be transferred 3 times, put on hold 5 times.. and get an unclear answer. So if you want actual customer service, go to a local hardware store or a specialty store. Though when I need help finding something, this fella with an Australian accent has got no darn idea what in the hell he's doing. One second he's ferrying off some woman who's asking 20 questions to the other end of the store, the next he's sitting around doing nothin while the bald guy and the tall guy are trying to manage the chaos goin on around em. I've also seen the guy drive a forklift... he shouldn't have a license, it's unsafe and he's gonna get someone hurt. The employees there are treated HORRIBLY, they dont care and are extremely racist and sexist. The are too strict about everything and the managers and supervisors play favorites according to your race. They have no regard how the customers you treat no matter how uncomfortable the situation is. If you want a day off you must ask 3-4 weeks prior and even then its not guaranteed. Sun 5.10.2020 Wanted to pick up some flowers for an out door garden. Made the big mistake of going to Home Depo /Setauket with the most unbelievable set up for the corona virus situation. I had to wait on an unbelievable long line to even approach the building...however all wanted to do was to go to the garden section... but I complied with what they were doing...However... they did NOT HAVE the garden center cashier open. I was told that I would have to go back out and wait ...once again ..on the long line to get back in the store and pay. The temporary Hand Written Signs which were put up on the exit and entrance to direct you were NOT CLEAR at ALL...as to what THEY (Home Depo) expected you to do to get thru the store. The price at Home Depot is $2,069.99. I found the exact same refrigerator, also same model number, at Goedeker's online for $1,478.99. I called Home Depot customer service & was connected to their online price match dept. The customer service rep I spoke to informed me that they would not match Goedeker's price because they don't consider them a competitor? Goedeker's is a national appliance dealer, so how are they not a competitor? She also informed me that the difference was too much, the most they would price match is about $200. I never really felt the need to write reviews on here but this one was warranted. I came in for a simple pair of vertical blinds to be cut that was all. Standing here for 35 minutes like an idiot having people paged no one ever comes, watched 2 customers with rug orders get no help and cancel them, the girl at the counter didn't even care then to finally get help after 40 minutes, a call to the store, numerous attempts to get help to finally have someone come from another department come cut them only to waste 3 sets of blinds to finally cut them correctly "so he says" I walk to the counter to pay but I open the box to inspect only to find them all frayed and cut wrong. Wasn't even going to bother going back. Complete waste of time and Money "Thankfully not my money. Home Depot get your act together and staff the store properly and get competent help. When I did find one, he said he had a delivery coming so he has to check on that and then he disappeared. How rude! Didn't even ask anyone else to help me in the meantime. Then I found this other guy and he said he didn't know about the screws I needed help with and I should ask someone else.
