Our dogs (coon hounds) LOVE this food. It's a little too soft to be their regular every day meals and it's also a little too expensive. Because it has a pretty long shelf life, it's mostly kept in reserve for when we aren't up to making their regular Scooby Stew. But the real treat is to use it for "meatballs" to hide their medications. Yes, our dogs have figured out the cheese trick and they don't eat peanut butter. We have been raising our pup (now a year and a half) on The Honest Kitchen. He loves it and we love it! We find that he prefers to eat food in between that consists of more fruits and veggies. He begs for carrots and bananas, etc. So healthy. The food is easy to make and there is a nice variety in the puppy age group in addition to the adult dog. He seems to enjoy Emark (Turkey) the most and has tried Thrive (Chicken) and Love (Beef). Up next the Duck! Prior to Austrailian Shepherd we raised our Collies (on an un-named brand) and they were challenged with auto-immune problems. We decided to go more green and LOCAL San Diego and we couldn't be more pleased. I am blind, and I reached down towards the bottom of the bag to scoop her out some food, and I touched something furry, I handed the bag to my husband and he said that I did not want to know what I touched. It was a dead mouse. I contacted the company and they refused to take responsibility. I have no mice in my house. We have never seen one before this and we have not seen one since. My terrier is a finicky little thing, and she nibbles at her kibble, eating her food so as to not starve, but I know she's not happy with her food choice. A few days ago, I received the opportunity to try the LOVE dog food by The Honest Kitchen. Its a bit messy to make, as its wet food meets dry food. I was given a 2 pound box of dry mix, about the size of a box of pancake mix, and inside looks like mulch. Upon opening the box, I was not impressed. The instructions, while easy, was a 3 step process 1. Measure the water, and make it lukewarm (I chose microwaving it for 15 seconds) 2. Measure the dry food content (in my case, my dog gets 1/2 cup), add to the dog bowl, add the warm water, stir. I found out using a fork to stir is better than using a spoon. 3. Let set for 3 minutes. Serve. My dog inhaled the food the first day, and today is day 5 and she's still inhaling the food. I'm impressed! The box isn't cheap, about $25 for the 2 lb box. But, the food is human grade (although it doesn't smell it) and Lulu seems to enjoy it. You can buy it online, or get it as the "Pet and Feed" supply warehouses. There's a location link on the Honest Kitchen website. The downside of using this product is you can't leave it out for the dog to graze. On the up side, the dog is so excited about eating, there isn't time for the food to set out to graze. The company also has cat food, fish food and other pet supplies. read more

I have been buying The Honest Kitchen CAT BLEND INSTANT GOAT'S MILK from various sellers for a long time and have never had any problems with quality and shelf life. But now I received an invitation from TheHonestKitchen to buy this milk with a 50% discount and I bought 10 cans in the expectation that it will last for the next 10 months. When the milk arrived, I found that the expiration date expires in 2 months. I opened one can and the milk had a rotten smell. ORDER 200000508277 Placed on September 6, 2023. The fact that the shelf life of milk expires has not been indicated anywhere. Before buying, I also called customer service, said I was taking a lot, but I was not warned about the expiration date. The Honest Kitchen refused to exchange milk for non-spoiled milk, motivating "the product you purchased was placed as a discounted rate as part of our summersale.....we are unable to proceed with an exchange or a refund". Please see the attached screenshot of this product, where no clear information concerning the expiration date. My senior rescue black lab had severe health issues - particularly around inflammation/arthritis. I worked with a nutritionist to find a workable product. Most of her suggestions were completely unaffordable or impractical. She mentioned The Honest Kitchen in passing - and it turned out to be the PERFECT solution. I've been feeding him the Dehydrated Whole Grain Turkey product for the past 3 montsh. His health and energy have improved. The product couldn't be easier to make (it's basically the equivalent of making oatmeal), and it's super easy to put all of his medications in the food. I no longer have to try to sneak him meds in his treats. And if his appetite is down on a particular day, it's easier to put the remains in a tupperware container and feed him the rest in a couple hours. The boxes are so compact the product takes up hardly any space. To top it off, when the supply chain got disrupted and it became impossible to find a 10-lb box in local stores, they were able to work with me and send me two 4-lb boxes and one 2-lb box for the same price as a 10-lb box. I've been feeding the grain free chicken to my pit mix for the last two years, and she has been doing great on this. She was sick with chronic UTIs and anal gland issues when we adopted her and we were worried about her long term health, which is why I switched her food to this from the BB blue wilderness. Within a few weeks of switching, her coat became so shiny and her UTIs disappeared. No more vet bills (we miss you Dr. McClure!). This is a human grade, super healthy food. I considered feeding 100% THK - it's not about the money - but that I want to make sure the "kids" have a dry food that they are used to in case of emergency. One of my dogs loves all of THK's foods while the other is a little pickier and often ponders her food before eating. I bought both the Hope and Spruce from The Honest Kitchen with a coupon code in 10-lb sizes from their website. My 60+lb dog unfortunately did not like the Spruce. She had previously eaten Embark and did fine. When she ate the Spruce she developed huge eye boogers and drainage and eventually refused to eat it. I was scared to open the Hope, so I called to hopefully get some money back on the Hope since I spent over $160 on my entire order. Apparently, they do not take "on sale" items back. I never saw this when I purchased it from the website or I would have started off with a much smaller size. In fact, it is not in the return policy listed on the website. I sucked it up and said, okay. My fault. I tried to sell the food on Ebay to recoup some of the costs, since this food is very pricey. Well, I wake up one morning with an angry message from Ebay saying, Honest Kitchen reported me for using their intellectual property (photos of their food). I did not copy any photos from their website. Instead I used my own photos, but they still reported me to Ebay and my listing was taken down. Now I am left with a big box of $100+ food. I called the Honest Kitchen to tell them my concern of them incorrectly reporting me to ebay. One lady, Kayla, who was nice, apologized and said they only sell through 3 online retailers and would be fine with crediting one box back to me but would have to get manager approval. I wait to talk to Liz, the manager, and Liz said the return policy says I cannot return it and that she has final approval and would not give me a credit despite what Kayla said. Liz also denied that Honest Kitchen reported me on Ebay and that it was Ebay's fault instead. I offered to show her the email that said the owner, The Honest Kitchen, Inc. complained and reported me but she changed the subject and said regardless I would not be able to return it. Received a free sample at my local pet store. My dogs are not picky eaters. Neither do they have any allergies or issues with dog foods. Prepared the food according to instructions. Both sniffed at it and then turned away. The Australian Shepherd decided to try it. First he puked out the entire portion. The grain structure was still visible in the puke. He then regurgitated more stomach contents. Now, the third time, his puke is a liquid yellow brown, like bile. I do NOT recommend this to anyone. read more

I've been feeding my dog THK's Whole Grain Beef recipe for about 3 1/2 years. We found this food after our dog starting having health issues that the vet tracked down to chicken/turkey products in his food, and he also had a life threatening pancreatic flair up. We were sure that we were going to lose our boy. After our dog survived his pancreatic attack we began looking for a low fat food that did not contain any chicken/turkey products. We switched to THK Whole Grain Beef recipe and every since we have had no more health issues related to his diet. Our dog is very active, happy and healthy on this food. If your dog is having dietary issues related to food I would highly recommend this dog food. It is on the expensive side, but if you can afford this food, it might just be the ticket for turning any food related health issues around. My complaint with THC is two pronged: The 1st regards their customer service--15 tries to contact a live person. After the silly "we're out walking the dogs" message ad nauseam, AND leaving a callback message with NO return call--I resorted to pressing any number. I got a curt, icy woman who refused to issue a refund (since I didn't buy it from them) and pontificated about their pathogen testing. She really didn't care that I had a problem that I deemed concerning, since, "they've never had this problem". No offer of a good faith refund, no request for a sample to test, no modicum of concern for my dog. Just "a notation of my call". Here is what happened: I had been seeking a fish based meal for my dog. Zeal ticked mostly all the boxes since she had eaten all of the "food" ingredients listed in the past. We tried the sample version & then purchased a 10 lb box @ $110. She loved her meals for 7 days. On day 8 and 9 she eagerly anticipated, but curiously only ate half of the meal. On day 10 I watched very closely. She ate half, paused, then raised her head. Her eyes were red and tearing immensely! This has never happened before! It was very concerning! I stopped the food--even though she continued to whine for it when she caught sight of the box. I questioned THC as to whether something was possibly occurring to the synthetic contents after being exposed to daily air/opening. The powdered food comes in a plastic zip lock bag. She dismissed this. My dog has no food allergies. Zeal has lots of SYNTHETIC vitamins. I do feel it may be the issue. BTW, you would think for the price, this company would use natural vitamins. I will never buy THC again. They seem to be resting on their laurels. I think they're going the way of others who went from great to changing recipes (as I heard they have) and poor customer service. I switched my three dogs' food to Honest Kitchen in 2012 and ever since then, no more ear infections, no more 'eye boogers' and 90% less skin problems for a breed that normally suffers from such. This brand of food took me a little bit of getting used to, when it comes to preparing, as one must add warm water to the pulverized food in order to reconstitute it. This is the healthiest food you can ever give your pets! I am 60 years old and have been involved with animals all my life. I have worked in an animal hospital and rescued orphaned kittens and puppies. I bottle fed and weened them. I have vaccinated and adopted them to good families. Please believe me when I say they couldn't be on a healthier diet and they absolutely love it! It is a freeze dried food that you simply add warm water, stir and let it sit for a few minutes. They used the healthiest ingredients and you can change to a different type of meat recipe without worrying about runny stools. I have searched and searched for the best food and this is it. Our adorable male Pomeranian, Chewy (RIP 4.25.05 - 1.17.15) lived a longer life because of The Honest Kitchen! Chewy was a small dog weighing a little over 6lbs when he was healthy! Around 4 years ago, Chewy was faced with even tougher health problems and although he had hyperthyroidism his past 6 years and soon developed BSD (Black Skin Disease) due to his thyroid, I knew I would need to research further to change his diet altogether. Further internet research and walking into a local "Pet Haus", I was introduced to "The Honest Kitchen" and took some samples. Chewy responded to this food like no other!! It was evident that I had found Chewy's food for life! A human-grade food that did not include grains was his special remedy and worked so well that his hair started growing back in areas I could not even believe! During the beginning, he mainly ate the "Love" blend of beef with veges & fruit. We were so excited and noticed how spunky he became over time and especially after about a year of eating just this food! Soon after, I would rotate the Fish and Turkey blends, but the last couple months had to take him off protein and the Grain-free Fruits and Veges was his primary diet. His weight did get back up to just over 5lbs, and unfortunately, the health issues Chewy had no food could completely heal. He was faced with reduced kidney function and had recently experienced his first seizures. I believe healthy food is medicine and I am so grateful to know this food extended his life and helped him live his past few months the best he could be. Chewy brought so much happiness to our life and will be greatly missed! I could go into great detail of just how adorable, and would do anything to see it again...... each day Chewy would just devour his meals! The 5 minutes it took to prepare was glorious! And watching our little guy doing his funny dance as he impatiently waits before it's ready to eat! No food ever made him feel this way and was such a great accomplishment in his life! My elderly dog was not eating very well. We tried the turkey. He loved it and ate 2 servings the first day the the second day he ate his morning serving and a little while later had a 2min seizure. His 1st one ever. That evening he ate his dinner serving and had a seizure in the night and another one the next morning.
