The same guy came out three times over a four year period to replace my water heater pressure valve (T&P). After the 3rd trip, he FORGOT to re-connect the pipe, leaving it on the ground next to the water heater. The house regulator finally went out (probably the original problem they didn't look at?) and the water heater water flowed for 10 hours, at night, causing mud and water to flood my downstairs costing $40,000 in damages and loses. My insurance company was told Honest Plumber didn't have insurance (OMG) and couldn't pay through subrogation. That means the $2,000 deductible landed in my lap. When I called to discuss a request for them to pay my deductible, I was told the "Owner is on vacation". The owner has never called and made NO attempt to help nor make it right for what happened. I will be going to small claims to get my deductible back for their negligence. read more

They came out to replace a water heater through my home warranty, not only did they not set the thermostat they said we needed to make another service call to get them back out to complete the job they started which results in another $85 charge also the items listed on their service sheet was not the same as home warranty. looking at the reviews, they seem to have a constant issue with home warranties. They were contracted out by our warranty when our water heater burst. Christopher came in and was extremely rude, he cut me off every time I spoke and proceeded to walk through my house without permission and looked in all of the bedrooms. Our water heater unit is in the garage. He then gave me a list of multiple things stating that I would need to change the earthquake straps on the water heater to make them compliant with code, as well as install carbon monoxide alarms and update all of our smoke alarms before he could work on the water heater. Coming from someone who is a civil engineer and my daughter works in architecture and deals with the building codes on a daily basis. Why would I need to pay 90$ to change the straps prior to changing my leaking WH, and then pay another 90$ to install new ones after they replace it? Why should I be required to make sure everything in the house was as up to code as if I was going to sell it when the home is as was purchased 20 years ago? Anyway, called the warranty and they were shocked at the way I was treated. Sent out a new company that did everything well and didn't tack on extra charges. read more

This company is a pain, plumber didn't show up with in the appointment window. Showed up late. Once he got there he was rude, ended up breaking a dish and saying it fell off the counter, left trash and a mess. Not only that we have needed them to come out and they are being extremely rude. No hot water for almost 3 weeks. I don't know if it Fidelity home warranty or the plumbing service. Honest is far from the truth. The original request for service was excepted by honest plumber on 2/10/24 the didn't have the ability to actually arrive to the property until 7 days later. The companies inability to meet the consumers needs should be taken into consideration when planning to receive plumbing services. Once they arrived diagnosed the situation a hot water heater. The technician left. Honest plumber set the next appointment 5 working days later. 12 days of boiling water, burned hands and feet. 16 pots for one bath tub, 14 for another in the middle of iffy weather. Skin rolling off your body due to the burning of spilled pots. Humid environment surrounding uncertain appointment arrivals. Nice staff yet, inconsistent staff. Setting appointments arriving outside the time. False hope of a resolution lingering with each arrival. Left me frustrated and confused honest plumbers are by far one of the last companies that should except home warranty insurance clams, based on the grandiose nature of the company. Find another service provider it's the best solution for a bad situation honest plumber is not the company. Fact check read the comments. Will try to rip off customers on Home Warranty calls. They came out (after a $75 service call fee) and snaked a clogged drain- said they couldn't reach the clog and that they would have to go through the roof vent, which wasn't covered by the Home Warranty. They quoted me $350 for the roof clean out. I got a second quote for a roof cleanout from another company for $165, but ultimately Superior Drain come out. They were able to snake it just fine from the clean out for only $25 more than the Home Warranty service call fee! read more

Do not use this plumber service. They installed a faucet that is unacceptable and that does not meet the standards set in our home warranty contract. They replaced our $500 faucet with a cheap $90 faucet from Lowes. The faucet they replaced ours with does not have as many features as per our contract states it should, does not even reach to the edge of the sink and kinks any time you slightly raise it to wash dishes fill pitchers etc. I reached out to the supervisor to see what can be done as the replacement was unacceptable and unusable in the capacity as the one we had. He told me that i could purchase a faucet of my choosing and they could come back and install it for a $90 service fee. The supervisor was very rude and unprofessional. As per our contract the any replacements should have similar features, capacity, and efficiency up to $1000. The faucet they replaced ours with does not. They should of ordered the same or similar faucet instead of running to the nearest hardware store and buying the cheapest one they had. read more

Three weeks after moving into my new home, I discovered a leak under my kitchen sink. I could only turn off the cold water valve (hot valve would not budge). The leak was covered under my home warranty and they re eferred me to The Honest Plumber It took three days for them to send someone out and he discovered my faucet was cracked. I informed him I was only able to turn off the cold water. Five days later, another plumber arrived and replaced the faucet. He discovered the angle stop on the hot water side was broken. Since it wasn't on his work order, he could not replace it. IF the first technician (?) had discovered the broken part, it also would have been covered under my warranty. Now I will have to hire someone else to fix the angle stop. ISN'T TURNING OFF THE WATER WHEN THERE IS A LEAK COVERED IN BASIC PLUMBING? And I haven't even begun to mention mold growth.... read more

Fidelity Home warranty placed an service order with these guys to repair a bathroom faucet. They evaluated the situation and had to place an order for replacement. The person who visited left his number and asked to contact him for fixing it in his next visit after placing an order. This person later ignored all the calls and messages from us. After calling fidelity we were informed that the case was closed. So many circles with warranty people, honest plumber and technician. And nothing got fixed. The worst of all is the 40 min wait time from the honest plumber customer service for every call. Irrespective of the wait time, the customer service representative was not very considerate or apologetic on the 4 week delay and circling backs. The technician simply ignores all the calls and messages. Overall the experience was very bad all the way from technician to customer support. I would rate it 0 star if there is one. read more

Update (2/15/19): The Good: After 3 more weeks, several follow-ups with The Honest Plumber, and two separate inspections I had to set up with the city on my own time (with the first one failing due to improper installation), the water heater replacement was finally signed off by the city. I'm finally done with this nightmare. The Bad: The Honest Plumber sent a manager to drop off the permit at my house (after my many complaints) and review the initial installation that was done. The manager told me there would be 'no problem' with the permit inspection by the city. (He was wrong.) That manager (and the technician who installed the water heater) didn't seem to know city code very well - the installation failed the initial inspection with two major issues: the ventilation shaft was installed too close to combustible materials and the drainage pipe was hanging with nowhere to go (it should be leading outside or to a drain). During the installation, I explicitly asked the technician about these two issues because they looked off to me, but he told me that they weren't going to be problems. (He was wrong.) When a second technician was dispatched to fix the problems, even he wasn't sure what city code was supposed to be - he had to call his manager to figure out what work needed to be done. It's pretty hard to feel confident that The Honest Plumber is doing the "right thing", consistently, and in a professional manner. In Summary: I wish there was something redeeming I could say about the company, but there's not much to offer. If you want a no-fuss water heater replacement done the right way the first time, you should avoid The Honest Plumber at all costs. read more
