I went to Honey Ladies today to purchase honey. I love that they sell it in the honeycomb, I used to get it like that on occasion as a child and it's such a treat. I bought some of Wendy's Lotus Blossom honey as a gift for a friend who likes honey also. The shop is so homey and comfortable with a shop cat, who was friendly and greeted me. Honey seems to be legit. Very smelly and loud shop. The dog barks at customers over and over again the entire time and every time anyone goes too! It's not a one time thing. And the shop smells like the dog. There's dog fur on mostly all around the store and merchandise and corners of the store. I love dogs. I have two dogs myself. I still find that this type of management is not appropriate....especially the constant loud barking as we try to find the honey we need. read more

Incredibly tasty local honey and I always enjoy chatting with them when they're at the civic center farmer's market in SF! Their local honey is really good and they have a ton of flavors to choose from, many of which have a lot of taste. They may make wonderful products, but I do not recommend purchasing their products from their online store, as they never respond emails and even do not provide shipping confirmation/tracking information. When I placed my order, I just received an automated order confirmation email, but since then I did not receive shipping confirmation and tracking information from them for a week. So, I tried to reach them by email to check the shipping status, but they never responded. Their website does not describe any shipping policy, including how soon the order is expected to be processed. So, I assumed their online store was inactive and my order did not go through, and I canceled the payment. However, after another week later (almost a couple of weeks since I placed my order), I received my order, and Wendy called me very upset, calling me as "the rudest". She insisted that I had called her on the phone a couple of days before and she had given me the shipping status, but actually I have never called her on the phone (as my call log shows). She obviously confused me with someone else. After receiving her call, I shipped the items back to her immediately. This issue could have been avoided if the website clearly described the shipping policy, such as "processing the order may take XX days/weeks", and the email inquiries were regularly checked. A review for the honey! Stopped by today to pick up some poison oak honey, which a friend originally had me try and I got hooked on. The store is pretty easy to find - it's right off of the downtown Campbell area, on the first floor of an older two-story house structure. It's a pretty small space but very cute and quaint. They sell a bunch of different kinds of honey in various sizes, honeycomb, beeswax by the pound, soaps, candles, and wildflower honey in bulk. I ended up buying a couple of jars of sage blossom and poison oak blossom honeys, which are their less sweet kinds. They also had blackberry, blueberry, and cherry blossom honeys, among others. Most of the small jars go for $12 each. I've only tried the poison oak honey so far, but I can say it's really good, with the added thrill of eating something that's normally poisonous. It's on the deeper, more savory side. Highly recommend! The lady there was super helpful and informative! She answered my many questions with ease. The Honey Ladies rescue beehives, relocate them to areas local to where the bees were found, and collect specific kinds of honey by having the bees collect from designated areas. Definitely a cute, local business to check out this holiday season! (And any season, really). Definitely will be back in the future! Update: Just tried the sage blossom honey and it's delicious! Honey Ladies to the rescue! Although, we never saw a lady at all. The men of the Honey Lady family business were appointed to our situation. I did, however, keep in contact with the owner (Wendy) throughout the whole process/scheduling. I started with requesting a quote through Yelp, which turned into phone calls and texting. Among the three other companies I contacted, she was the most helpful and timely. The chimney at my parent's home was invaded by bees. And almost four feet of honeycomb engulfed the top of the chimney. Wendy had her guys come out to assess the problem, and to estimate the job. Compared to the other companies, Wendy quoted right down the middle. We decided to go with the Honey Ladies because of their promptness. The other companies were flaky, and said it could take more than one day. Wendy and her guys were straight-forward, honest, and quick. They said they can do the job in about five hours. They actually took about three hours to extract the honey and bees from the chimney, to protect the chimney from future invasions, and clean up. We were billed by email, which took a while. I had to contact Wendy to make sure they get paid for their services. We were happy to pay a bit lower than what was quoted. I'm guessing that the (actual) amount of time for the job attributed to that. This all happened about four months ago, and we haven't seen a single bee atop the chimney since. Had a small bee issue in my backyard the last few weeks and found some hives forming under the roof. I found the honey ladies online through some googling and liked their business message about the humane treatment of bees during removal. Scheduling was a bit more difficult than I imagined, but I did so through email so there might be a difference when scheduling over the phone. They told me they would come but did not show up that whole day. I pinged them again through email and was scheduled again, but they came 2-3 hours earlier than expected. It's fine for me since the shelter in place puts me at home everyday but I can imagine for people who aren't as flexible it's not that convenient to have an uncertain schedule. I asked for an estimate on a few hand sized hives and was told that they do free estimates when they were on site. Unfortunately, when the gentleman arrived, he started work right away and did not give me an estimate!! I ended up paying the final price but I'm a bit annoyed that I did not agree to it. $175. It was a mild case and he did not even have to suit up to remove the bees. I felt that the gentleman who came did a good job. He cleared out all the hives and even removed some wooden boards to clean out a hard to reach area. The company motto says they have proper transportation of bees but I did not get that feeling as the hives and bees were put in a white plastic bag. They do have a lifetime guarantee so I'm hoping that will come in handy. read more

Not sure how I feel about my experience with The Honey Ladies. We suddenly had wasps buzzing outside our house one Sunday, near these circular vents on the exterior. We called around and The Honey Ladies were available on Sunday to take a look. A man showed up, and he sprayed the wasp area but actually did not find a nest. He explained that they were likely starting to build a nest. He then cut out some coverings with chicken wire and covered the openings. He did the same with a few other openings on the side of our house. He then went on our roof and cut out some chicken wire to cover the vents on our roof. In the end, the work cost $300 which surprised me. I had gotten another quote from a different company of $150, but my partner had already arranged with The Honey Ladies. It's our fault for not getting a quote from The Honey Ladies prior to the work starting and there's not much you can do after the work is done. The guy said it was extra because it was Sunday and extra because he went on the roof. I'm not sure what to think - he got the job done, but it was pricier than we expected. Lesson learned - always get a quote before you start the work. read more

I called Wendy last week because I had bees in my vent. This all started when I looked outside and saw a whole bunch of bees, which I thought were wasps. I called the pest control person and when they came over they said that they were no longer allowed to kill honey bees because they are going to be extinct. They use them for pollinating plant. They recommend that I call a bee catcher and I ran by the honey ladies ad. I called Wendy and she answered and schedule the appointment, and was on time. She was good about explaining what she was going to do and she did it well and even added a little fence in my vent so that the bees won't come back. I did read a yelp review that said she didn't honor her word. I am hoping that if they come back she will come back and fix it for me at $0 charge as her ad stated. Her prices are reasonable. She charged me $100 for labor and I had to replace the vent so that costed me $22. I total it was $122 which was cheaper than killing them believe it or not. I thought she did a good job, and she was very informative. Can't wait to try some of her honey. If you have been problems, don't kill them, give them a new home. read more

Wendy and crew did an outstanding job of extracting a beehive right by the front door. This is slow work removing the hive comb by comb and Wendy did a great job - working slowly and carefully to remove the bees, save the bee broods and extract the combs piece by piece ( with their honey ) . This is a great small business and highly recommended - they cover a good part of the Bay Area, are extremely knowledgeable and willing to share their knowledge anytime. Bees receive a lot of press these days ( mostly about the trouble local bees are in - and the impact on pollination state-wide and more ) - and it nice to know Wendy 'recycles' the bees - places them in local beehives in orchards and farms and sends a contingent out to Central Valley and more. I thought for a minute that I could just grab the shop vac myself and save some money, but when I watched the process, I was so glad I made the wise choice and called professionals. Great job, left no mess, I could hardly tell which eave soffit they went into. They took a lot of comb and captured the Queen for re-location! Good for me, good for the bees and the environment! As noted by others, some will remove the hive and let the bees loose somewhere else, like maybe on their freeway drive, I've been told. So glad to know this hive will relocate and be useful. I wrote my first review of "The Honey Ladies" was on 6/20/2013. This NEW review is for service date 2/22/16 for another wasp nest on the opposite side of the property. Note: The posting of this New review is a year and a half late due to my not noticing that it was never posted - it was sitting dormant in my unsent box - sorry Wendy! I emailed Wendy to inform her of another nest and included a photo of an opening where they were seen going IN/OUT. Wendy called me back to schedule a show date and time. I mentioned since she had done such a great job caulking the cracks and crevices of the previous areas if she could also go around the rest of the property and caulk up those areas as well. She said she'd take photos and get back to me with an estimate. Long story short - Although the wasps had been seen entering and exiting the reported area for the past 4 weeks (leading me to believe there was another nest) Wendy indicated NO nest was found and what we saw were wasps searching out a location to build one. She also mentioned that they're in semi-hibernation and it wasn't until April when they begin building nests....Fascinating! And she didn't even bill me for the visit - Thanks again Wendy! read more

I've had great success preventing poison oak outbreaks using the poison oak honey from this company. It helps the itch quickly too when you do have it. It's hard to find so this place is a gem and the storefront in Campbell is a treat to visit. Also, more than half of the honey you buy from stores can be fillers like corn syrup and that doesn't need to be disclosed on the bottle so it's important to know your source! read more

What a wonderful experience. I thought that I had a small swarm of bees congregating on my wine barrel in the backyard. Since I have a small child and dog that plays back there I needed to get the bees removed. Wendy came out to my house immediately and explained that the bees have been there for probably a few months building a hive inside the barrel. I was shocked and amazed when she took a video inside the barrel and showed me how many bees we actually in there. Never mind that they forgot my appointment, sent another guy at the last minute, who didn't even show up when they said he would. I'm upset that this company is totally greenwashed. A land manager and ecologist, I selected this company because they seemed environmentally responsible. I wanted a nest of yellowjackets live trapped and released. The tech marched over to the nest, said "Got a shovel? I'll spray them and then dig the nest out with your shovel." I asked about live removal, and he said "I don't like to do those because I get stung". Then he showed me a picture of his swollen face from a previous job. I told him I had contacted this company because they did live removals, and he said "I'll do it if you want." I asked where they released the animals afterwards, and he said "Somewhere in Gilroy." I asked, "Somewhere random?" He answered, "Yup, random." He then gave the piece of misinformation that caused me to write this review. He said: "Yellowjackets are the main killers of honeybees." No, dummy, PEOPLE are the main killers of honeybees; people and our pesticides, fungicides, miticides, and neonicotinoids. Yellowjackets, wasps are actually the garden's most important and valuable predator. They voraciously consume all sorts of pest insects, including aphids and slugs. I'm sure they predate honeybees as well; that's a part of the natural order. The ones unnaturally killing off bees are us. Two stars for indeed getting the nest out (with poison, for heaven's sakes, I'm not going to have this guy's swollen face and a "RANDOM" wasp release in Gilroy on my conscience). In the future, I will definitely will find another company with a truer shade of green for my clients. And the quote of the day was: "You didn't even bring your own SHOVEL?" read more

So disappointed. I had high hopes for the response of this company but it has now been multiple attempts at contacting to have them come extract bee nests here at my Apt. complex and no reply. I had success in contacting initially but once they found out I was in condo complex they requested I have our building manager reach out - okay fine, that's what I did - and it's now been at least 4-5 attempts with no success. We found a large beehive in our play structure and called "The honey ladies". They came out the next morning and gently removed the hive for relocation. They knew what they were doing.
