I couldn't make the appointment, but they came the next day and evaluated the area, noting where the raccoons were likely coming from. They set up a trap in the most affected area. We caught a poor local cat the first time and they released it. Then caught three raccoons. They're responsive, professional, and do a great job. Highly recommended! PSA: don't mess around with raccoons. I'm a biologist and discovered that a lot of raccoons in the area have a parasitic roundworm. Eggs can live in the soil for two years. Resistant to bleach, ethanol, cleaners, etc. Almost the only way to kill the eggs is to heat them to 143ºF/63ºC. A weed torch (being careful around any flammable structures) or boiling water can be helpful.

Poor Scheduling, Inconsistent Pricing, and Lack of Communication…read more I had a frustrating experience with Killroy Pest Control before they even set foot in my home, From the start, there were multiple issues with scheduling, pricing, and basic follow-through. When I first called, I was quoted $265 (after a $30 coupon) for exterior cockroach treatment and cobweb removal. After clarifying that I also needed an interior inspection and treatment, the price was adjusted to $320, and an appointment was scheduled for Wednesday between 8-10am. I specifically requested a written estimate via email - which they never sent. A few days later, a technician called to reschedule the appointment to 10am-noon, stating that he was never in my area during the originally scheduled window. To make matters worse, he had NO idea that interior treatment and inspection were part of the job, and quoted me yet another price - $350 this time ! Between the scheduling mix-up, the lack of any written estimate, and the price changing EVERY time I spoke to someone, I have zero confidence in this company's ability to organize and communicate basic information. I will be taking my business elsewhere and would not recommend this company to anyone.

One day, there was an extremely loud noise coming from the water heater closet. When we checked, we found that the insulation board covering the attic access above the water heater had been broken through. The instruction manual attached to the water heater had been chewed into pieces, with shredded paper scattered all over the floor. It looked pretty alarming, so we immediately called Rodent Control Inc. When they arrived, they told us the damage had been caused by rats. They explained that there are two types of rats--small rats and large rats. After spending quite a bit of time inspecting the attic and taking several photos, they told us there was a large amount of rat droppings and rated the infestation as a 9 out of 10 in severity. They said it needed immediate attention. Their proposed solution was to seal all possible entry points around the crawl space and roof, remove the contaminated insulation, disinfect the attic, and charge us more than $5,700. Replacing the insulation would cost even more. The next day, we contacted another company, Ratting on Rodents, for a second opinion. They told us that the type of damage we described was much more consistent with squirrels than rats. Sure enough, they found a dying squirrel in the corner of the water heater closet and removed it. They then inspected the roof and discovered that the metal chimney cap had fallen off. They explained that the squirrel had most likely entered through the chimney. That same day, they replaced the chimney cap, sealed the opening above the water heater closet, and repaired six damaged crawl space vents around the exterior of the house. They also noted that the droppings in the attic did not appear to be fresh, but set traps in both the attic and the crawl space as a precaution. They returned one to two weeks later to inspect the traps and also provided a one-year warranty, promising to come back if any rodent issues reappeared. The total cost for everything was only $1,150. I have never heard anything since then. The problem is gone! Based on my experience, Rodent Control Inc. seems to excel at sales and customer service, but they were unable to accurately identify the root cause or recommend the appropriate solution. I would strongly encourage homeowners to get a second opinion before committing to an expensive proposal. In our case, another company solved the actual problem for about one-fifth of the cost. Good service is important, but accurate diagnosis and effective solutions are what ultimately matter.

We were having months long issues with ants that were entering through grout voids, under…read morebaseboards, etc. We tried Terro, which as worked for us before, as well as Advion ant gel. The ants seemed to like those baits and take them back to the colony, but just kept coming back. We lost our faith and patience in DIY-ing. Maybe it would have worked if we kept at it, but who knows? We called RPM because of reviews saying that they don't push subscription/recurring services as well as general high satisfaction levels. Everything was great. Easy to schedule an appointment (it was 1.5-2wks out, which was fine). Dustin was friendly, efficient, and happy to discuss the issue and my questions. And best of all, very few ants (like less than 10 total) throughout the house after they sprayed Termidor around the perimeter fence, foundation, and entries. While it didn't take a lot of time and I'm sure the chemicals weren't pricey, the cost considering the value delivered was very fair and reasonable. We'd do it 10/10 times again and we'll call RPM again for any future pest control issues.

Since it was my home's first treatment, I asked to follow Jordan from a safe distance and asked many questions throughout the service. He took his time to answer all my questions and pointed out a few things about my home. I also have a relatively large garden, and he was careful and attentive about the products being used even though they are safe for gardens. I live by the hills and I get many roaches and ants, but after the first day of treatment, I have already seen a massive reduction in activity. The company provides anytime follow ups for no additional charge if the treatment isn't effective, but the general schedule is treatment every 2 months. A full list of used products is provided with your service. Pest control in general is not cheap, but I highly recommend HomeShield if you are considering pest control services. They will do their best to honour their scheduled time window, but services in the area have been in high demand, so the window they provide for you may be wide. I was asked to be home between 12pm-6pm, and I was rendered services at 5pm. Jordan called me an hour ahead of time to let me know he was on his way, which is very appreciated.
