I got depressed walking in. The food is mediocre at best. The wait staff does not seem happy. The decor is dated.

After reading a few with mixed reviews , I decided to turn around and go back to Bill's. The restaurant and bar area were packed on a Tuesday around 6:30pm. I was lucky that a seat at the bar opened up as I arrived. Jane the bartender was extremely busy making several specialty cocktails and called a number of customers by name which was impressive. Eventually she took my order for a Dark Horse local beer on tap which was enjoyable. I reviewed the menu that was on the counter and I was eventually asked if I would like to order something to eat. I had to order my go to, Bill's burger, which is topped with arugula, gruyere cheese, and a Dijon aioli sauce that was exactly what I was yearning for when I decided I was going out for dinner. The burger is also served with a substantial order of fries and everything was well worth the wait and consistently delivered as with my prior experiences. Although I would say pack your patience as it seemed they were slightly short staffed, or just got slammed that night unexpectedly. The effort of the staff while working at a 150% pace and the friendliness to many customers made this an enjoyable evening and it was nice to chat with a few adjacently seated customers. I always find something new and interesting to look at while waiting that I haven't previously noticed, and on this occasion was a fox with a bow tie on the shelf that seemed to be looking at me which is a nod to the Fox & Hound which was previously on this site and damaged by a fire. The other interesting item was a photo of George Washington at the bar.

A lot of the food seemed kind of heavy so we split the risotto balls appetizer and each got a kale Caesar salad and French onion soup. Not the most adventurous choices, but everything we had was quite good. I'm glad we sat outside - the inside seemed kind of stuffy to me. Definitely old school Bloomfield Hills, which has no appeal to me.

Mya was our server and she went above and beyond. One of our kids ordered french toast, and somehow we missed that it was topped with a fruit compote. When Mya stopped by the table she immediately saw that my daughter was not happy and asked if she should put a new order in. We declined because we wanted our daughter to try it before she made up her mind, and learn from the experience. Mya came back again and could tell that there was no way this kid was going to eat the french toast. She insisted on putting another order in, saying "I just want her to be happy", and it was clear that she truly meant it. Thank you for a wonderful breakfast - we will be back frequently!

I was a little disappointed initially to be seated at the short bar as it makes me feel like I'm in elementary school due to the height, but this was a busy Saturday morning so I understood as it seems there are limited 2-tops, etc and this visit was at peak hours. It was nice to see the daylight coming through the windows which also made this a relaxing venue. While I was sitting there I was able to observe a lot as the short bar is next to the case displaying many delicious treats. I really laughed to myself as I noticed a couple of future Yelper's (one was 2-year toddler and his probably 4-5 year old sister (possibly celebrating a birthday) make a prompt trip to checkout the dessert offerings first! They were obviously "regulars". I was greeted by one of the wait staff, Mya, who was friendly, served me a coffee and indicated my server would be with me soon. I appreciated seeing the teamwork among the staff. I was eventually served by Owen who was helpful and I ordered an egg white frittata which came with a side of mixed fresh fruit. While I was waiting on my food, I had a vantage point where I could see several entrees come out. I also witnessed one of the two Chefs smiling as he was looking at and preparing the orders which I found interesting. The frittata included spinach, tomatoes, goat cheese, apple chicken sausage, and was delicious. I was still a little hungry, so I realized the future Yelpers mentioned earlier had it right, and I ordered a carrot cake cupcake which Owen mentioned was a good choice. The frosting was delicious and the moist carrot cake was tasty as well. The overall restaurant was hustling and bustling on this morning, I had my coffee cup refilled multiple times and even noticed additional children observing the case with the desserts. I enjoyed the overall experience and did not feel rushed at all, but more like a customer!

The…read morequality and consistency are great, though I honestly think the meat would shine even more as a traditional 1/4 or 1/2 pound patty rather than a smash burger. A thicker cut would really let you taste the high-quality flavor of the beef. If you're going to order, here are a few pro tips: Get the sauce on the side: It's an excellent sauce, but you are much better off dipping. Otherwise, the burger will totally get drenched and lose the meat flavor profile. The bacon situation: They smash little bits of bacon directly into the patty. You can barely taste it this way, and it would be significantly better just served as traditional strips on top. So I would prob get it without next time. The Tallow Fries: These have huge potential, but unfortunately, mine arrived pretty soggy via delivery. I should have thrown them in the air fryer to crisp them back up, as I know they would be amazing fresh out of the fryer dripping in tallow. And they would have worked much better as larger almost steak cut fries to let the tallow flavor shine more. However as i ate them, i would still choose cajun 5 guys fries well done over them. My order for a burger and fries came to almost $40 (including tip) through their delivery service. Is it worth that price point for a delivery order? Probably not. However, the core ingredients are so good that I definitely plan to visit the restaurant in person so I can experience the food fresh and at its best.

I've gotten my Thanksgiving turkey from here. They often have yummy soups (especially the chorizo chowder). All of the being said, I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED today. My bf and I typically get one burger and one turkey sandwich and exchange halves. Today the turkey was awful and I threw it away uneaten. You changed everything that made it delicious. Today it was on the hard ciabatta roll. The turkey was just slices slapped on the bread when it used to be kind of shredded. There was no spicy giardenera.. The brie was just some sort of melted brie slices when before it was a brie fondue sauce. I wanted to cry. This is the quickest way to lose customers.. changing what's tried and true

When the order first arrived, the receipt actually said gluten-free, but the burger had a regular bun instead. I didn't catch it right away, but after taking a bite something felt off. I reordered, and the second order came out correct . Things happen, but I really appreciate when companies handle issues the right way. Rusty Bucket and DoorDash both made it right, which goes a long way. Overall still a positive experience, and I'll definitely be ordering again. Probably tonight.

Overall for the quality of the food and the quantity, the price point was not justified. $20 for the tacos, $20 for the chicken pesto, $9 for the sliders kids meal. In terms of the quality the meals were all pretty heavy and oily with the chicken pesto being the most heavy and oily. The sliders my kid did like although the fries were a bit soggy and bland to a kid who usually loves fries. The fish tacos were pretty good along with the corn salsa that is included and I'm glad I got this since it wasn't too heavy. The atmosphere was nice and dark with moderate lighting. The service was okay. There was people coming in on a Sunday morning. Overall it was just an average American restaurant in my opinion with the food not worth the price.
