I recently had the opportunity to try the Orchard Mezza's lentil soup, which unfortunately did not meet my expectations. The flavors seemed to have melded together in an unbalanced way, resulting in a dish that was lacking in its usual excellence. My family and I had been frequent diners at this establishment, particularly on Sundays, but the inconsistency in quality was noticeable. The food that was once flavorful and satisfying had become dull and uninspiring. Given the decline in quality, I would advise those seeking more flavorful options to explore alternative venues. In light of this experience, I am inclined to allocate my patronage elsewhere, hence the five-star deduction. Regrettably, I can no longer endorse this restaurant with the same enthusiasm as before, especially considering I currently reside in a different country with my husband. 10/11/2024 we decided to try Mezza here in Orchard Lake. It was difficult deciding between 4 and 5 stars but overall I have more positives than negatives. We both had chicken kabobs, salad and house potatoes along with the warm, fresh baked rolls right out of the corner oven. The rolls, humus and dipping sauce were excellent! Our salads, potatoes and green beans with carrots were just as yummy. My only negative was the chicken kabobs. They were grilled nice and tender and the portion size was nice but we would have like a little more flavor perhaps some spices. We will definitely be back to try other dishes. Our waiter was nice, friendly and very attentive checking on us regularly and the ambiance was very nice too. The restaurant is clean with abundance of indoor and outdoor seating. read more

I have never in my life tasted hummus the way they make it here. It is the most delicious appetizer I have ever had. I add the lamb and turn it into a meal with the freshest pita bread you'll ever have. I live in San Diego and dream about visiting Michigan so I can eat here. I have introduced Detroit area friends and family to this restaurant and they're flummoxed that it is truly the best hummus in the world and that they had never been. Wow! We're visiting from California so our cousins ordered take out for us. We had a huge party tray with rice, veggies, grilled steak, deboned chicken, and lamb. I'm not usually a big fan of lamb but this one didn't taste gamey at all! The meats were seasoned and grilled to perfection. I'm a big fan of Mediterranean rice and theirs by far is my favorite! The hummus, baba ganoush, and tabouleh (all spelled differently at this restaurant), we're very flavorful and paired perfectly with the warm pita bread. Yummm! I tried this location for the first time a week ago and I am really glad that I did. We ordered some hummus and Baba Ghannooj to start . both came out when delicious, hot bread and they were fantastic. The smokey, roasted flavor of the baba was really tasty. My Wife had the Falafel Plate and really enjoyed it. I got the chicken kebobs with rice and a salad and it was a very generous portion. all in all it was very good and i would for sure recommend it to anyone. oh, not to be omitted was the friendly and prompt service. I used to go there a lot. Always liked the food. Recently the interior has been updated and it looks very good. Had a bad experience today, in fact so bad that I left. The service was very slow. It took over fifteen minutes to get my order in. The waitress was maskless and came very close, which I do not like. Wait staff is in daily contact with many people so represent an elevated risk of being contagious. Finally the first dish arrive, my soup. The waitress, again maskless and very close, served the soup. It was spilled over. I just left. Tried to talk with the owner. He did not care. A pity when a good restaurant is run down like this. Best middle eastern restaurant! The super nice and attentive is always there. The staff cares and really goes out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. Everybody is very nice and friendly there. The food is consistently outstanding. Ingredients are always fresh and plentiful. Portions are large. The grilled chicken is made fresh to order. Even the grilled chicken for salads. The bread is made fresh to order. And it's the best pita bread in the world! Their white garlic sauce is absolutely incredible, way better than any other restaurant. Everything they make is just fantastic! This location is right across the street from the Orchard Lake entrance to the West Bloomfield Pontiac Trail walking path. We started out walk on Haggerty and by the time we reached Orcahard Lake, we were starving (Ok slight exageration). Neither of us brought our wallets but luckily Mezza takes I-pay so, cell phone for the win. We ordered a raw kibbe appetizer to share, plus soup and salad. The food was great! I am not eating bread, and they kindly sliced up a cucumber for me. We really enjoyed our light break and the fuel to walk all the way back to our car. I have been going to this place since it was the Sheik, then La Shish, and have always had good or at least reasonable experiences. However, the last two times have been rough. The orders were wrong and despite being told it would take a half hour, it was more like an hour wait. This last time, I saw multiple people waiting and heard the staff apologizing to other patrons about mistakes. Before, leaving, I check my order and thought it was fine, but later realized they forgot to give me soup. Not aa huge deal, but then I tried the bread, which is usually the best part about this place. It felt very dense and when I bit in it was completely raw in the middle. I called back and told them this and the person on the phone was first tried to tell me that I was wrong and then she was pretty dismissive as I did not want anything, other than to let them know their bread was having issues. My family has been ordering food from here for a long time, over a decade, and we have never been disappointed. We live close by so we almost always get take out and enjoy our meal at home. The few times we have eaten in we have always found the service to be very good. All of their middle eastern food is wonderful. I especially like the raw kibbeh nye and their grape leaves while my wife really likes their vegetarian kibbeh (made from tomato), hummus and baba ganoush. Their grilled lamb chops are also excellent and their pita is home made and always hot right out of the oven. We highly recommend this place. On a recent 48 hour visit to Michigan, my family was sitting shiva after my grandfather's funeral when we realized that we were going to be hungry for dinner later that evening. My brother was craving Mezza, so I called and spoke to Anna, the manager. She was friendly and more than accommodating of our needs, even with a request to deliver on short notice. Within a few hours, Anna herself was at our front door, delivering our order, which included: *Mujdra *Vegetarian Grape Leaves *Hummus *Greek Salad + pita *Shwarma - both lamb and chicken *Rice *Garlic sauce, Tzadiki, Dressing All of the above was for a group of 15 people and it probably could have fed 40... It was all delicious, moderately priced, and the perfect meal to fill our bellies after a long day. Good to know that you can fill your Mezza cravings now at a handful of locations around the Detroit area, including one at the airport. (My brother and I ended up ordering lunch at that one the next day, and weren't disappointed. Ordered a carryout tonight as a first time customer. I was very pleased to say the least. I gave Mezza a shot because of a coupon I received in a Valpak. First, even though my order only totaled $47 the girl working the bar accepted the coupon even though it was for orders $50+. So they started off good. I reviewed my receipt and noticed one item was wrong. They corrected it promptly, and I left from there. Crushed lentil soup was very flavorful without being salty. Pita bread was hot and fluffy. Hummus was unique in my opinion, a little creamier than I'm used to but it was very good. Fattoush was very fresh, dressing came on the side without even requesting, something other restaurants will usually overlook. Chicken was tender, golden and flavorful. Falafel was hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, also very flavorful. Thank you Mezza, I'm looking forward to a similar experience next time, as I will be back. Extremely rude waitress, who is Very Argumentative!! The chicken was really dry and rubbery. The manager brought out a new replacement dish, after we complained. However, the same issue occurred with the replacement dish. It was taken off of the bill. We ordered appetizers as well--those were average..the only good thing was they had homemade bread...also, not kin on customer service, meaning if you had a empty glass of water, it'll stay empty. Insanely over priced. Ordered beef kabob entree and was charged $26. When I asked the manager why he said you got the dinner which is only 2 skewers but I was never given the option and my food was ordered at 11:45am... earlier than lunch time. So each skewer is $13 and only 4 pieces . The rice was soft and cooked good but no flavor either. Very plain meal. If you're a fan of middle eastern food then this is not the place for you. I don't know the last time I was this disappointed with the food at a restaurant. The bread was nearly burned. The lamb and vegetable soup had no flavor to speak of. The tabouli was drenched in salt. Worst of all was the Mezza Trio party tray we ordered. All of the meat was completely over cooked and dry as can be. The grilled vegetables were burned to where you could only taste the burn taste. In the world of Covid we live in I didn't even bother to complain because the owner is probably insanely short handed as it is. One within our party asked about substitutions for which the waitress clearly stated no, we accepted this and happly paid the upcharge for what was wanted.
