We should all celebrate the entrepreneurs in America regardless of any cultural biases or nationality stereotypes. Toros Tacos epitomizes that effort to succeed. Originally a taco truck, now a semi-permanent structure made of wood pallets and other materials. It is located on the NE corner of Franklin Blvd. and Garrity Blvd. next to Fast Mart in Nampa. The exterior may be rustic and odd, but what is important is the kitchen is stainless steel and kept in an immaculately clean condition. From this makeshift structure, wonderful truly authentic Mexican food is born. There is plenty of parking. When I got there, the lot was filled with work trucks, semis and trailers. Seems like the word is OUT on Toros Tacos. I was confronted with an odd menu on the wall. Everything was priced at $8.88. It took a moment to realize that nobody has put the real prices over the ones put there by the sign maker. The Suadero and al Pastor tacos are $2. Prices on the other stuff will be something you will have to sort out, if you visit. Suadero is a thin cut of beef from the part of the cow between the belly and the leg. It has a smooth texture rather than a muscle grain, like carne asada. It is the most sought after meat at Mexico City taco stands right along with al Pastor prepared on a trompo. I took a photo of this trompo - means "top" (like a child's toy) in Mexico. I respected the COVID protocols by standing outside the building and taking the picture, so it is a little hard to see. The three tacos come out in a carefully sealed plastic bag with aluminum foil over the plate. No pandemic concerns here. Lots of traditional marinated carrots, jalapeños and onions were included. I felt like I was walking the streets of Mexico City D. F. again. The Suadero and the al Pastor were identifiable shreds and had been fried on the flattop to add that crispy flavor that sets it apart from all the other meats. He has fish and shrimp tacos. Huaraches are like tostadas but larger, named for the popular sandals in Mexico coming from the shape and size of the sole of the sandal. The "mulita" is simply a double deck quesadilla (two tortillas instead of one, one on the top and one on the bottom) filled with meat and melted cheese. Toro's Tacos is closed on Mondays. The hours and other days of service are still a mystery, to be solved the next time I am in the area.

I left a bad review here 2 years ago. Decided to give them a second chance so... fast forward 2 years later, they take credit card now, their staff is friendly, they have seating, proper menu, and Friendly owner! The tacos were good and flavorful. I got Asada and Cabeza tacos. All meats with good flavor and good sauces. Just be a lttle patient and you should be good.

Five stars for the food, because that's what matters most. This little taco stand next to the fast mart across from the Kendall value lot sort of hides during the daytime, but I had heard good things so I wanted to stop by. I ordered three Asada tacos because that's my jam. The meat was tender and flavorful and it was topped with the usual sprinkling of cilantro and fresh chopped onions. However, the kicker on this plate was a huge pile of tender sautéed onions blopped in the middle of the plate. Limes, radishes, and some sort of grilled pepper added garnish. Both the red and green sauces were way too spicy for me to even consider, but the food on the plate was so flavorful that salsa wasn't necessary anyway. As a first-timer, I was frustrated by the menu because most of it is taped and blocked off and it's not clear what they do offer. Prices are not listed either except for some tiny handwriting on a small poster near the window about the tacos. No idea the prices on tortas or mulitas or quesadillas. They also only accept cash, which is a huge inconvenience. Luckily I had a few dollars in the car. Next time I want some good street tacos, I will definitely include this place in my list of best options.

The food is beyond amazing. It's the only place to get Mexican food in all of idaho. The service was amazing he was patient explained everything with ease. The out door seating is great. There 4 tables with umbrellas. I couldn't believe how many people were here. The parking lot was packed!! It's 10pm and it's still packed. 5 out of 5

Quite possibly the most delicious food I have ever eaten in my life. I walked away after having two different pastor dishes and I could feel my soul smiling. I can't wait to come again.

As someone that has been on the hunt for some good street tacos here in Idaho for the past year, this has by FAR been the best! Our first visit here. Very clean, has tables outside with umbrellas, salsa bar with some very delicious salsas, and the staff was kind :) DEFINITELY coming back again!

The burger and fries are the closest thing to heaven I've ever had, and you won't want to miss them right now. I honestly don't know how they do it. Note, that this means this is the best burger in the state, it is the best burger in comparison to any in California or any other surrounding state. There was not a bad bite. It is as if Jesus has blessed the chef and your taste buds, it is a literal masterpiece. Everything is made with care, you will experience euphoria and what a burger made with care actually tastes like. Juds, Big Bun, the new In N' Out Burger, are good in their own respect, but not even the same echelon as Hood Burger. Hood Burger is on top of the pyramid, everything else is just ok. Everything is made to perfection. I am not sure if it is because they are in a food truck and not an upscale restaurant, but these guys truly care about their product. If you want a cheap burger with the typical result go to one of the other local places, if you want the best burger for around $15 go now. My first time here, I tried the barbacoa, asada, and al pastor. They were... just okay. The barbacoa was incredibly dry, and the other tacos had a very unremarkable flavor on first bite. Salsa was definitely required to give it some kind of oomph. Should have checked because they only gave me one tiny lime wedge for 3 tacos. meh I might give it another try for fish, adobada, and cabeza or lengua. Not everyone makes everything great. I'll let you know what I find out. It covered outside seating is pretty decent, but it is in a parking lot abutted against a busy intersection. So the ambiance can be kind of meh, which is probably why so many people took theirs to go. They have buzzers you keep with you, so you know when your food is ready.

Such was the case with Tacos El Rey at the NE corner of Cloverdale and Ustick in Boise. The last time I stopped (on a Monday) it was closed. There wasn't any sign as to their times of operation. Tacos El Rey does have other locations in Garden City, Caldwell, Nampa and Meridian. The three tacos in the sampler were Cabeza (beef cheeks), Barbacoa (BBQ beef) and Carnitas (pork). The amount of meat was excellent on two, fresh street taco tortillas. The toppings were the appropriate onion and cilantro. The cabeza was delicious as was the barbacoa. I asked the young lady in the truck for their choices of salsa. She said green (tomatillo), red, something I forgot and habanero. Whoa! Habanero salsa is the real deal. It was an orange colored thick salsa (likely habanero and crema) and a very gingerly put 5-6 DROPS on the next taco. With other salsas, I normally just slop it on until it drips out the tortilla. Habanero adds pure heat and little flavor to the taco. The meat and toppings came through AND THEN the heat came later. WOW. My taste buds exploded with glee and my scalp was instantly electric (or at least sweating). I repeated the process with the 3rd taco and the effect doubled. This would definitely kill off a hipster. 30 minutes later, my scalp was still tingling, so I know there is new hair growth as a result. I will return to this truck, likely for a barbacoa burrito, of course with a request for the recipe for their habanero salsa.
