    Whitefish with lemon pepper

Great location over looking Lake Huron and Mackinac Island. We came here for dinner on a Sunday. We were able to get a bar seat with great views of the lake. Our waiter was so kind and attentive. We started off with drinks and complimentary bread. For dinner, my husband and I got the whitefish. It's caught daily. The fish is broiled with the option of three different seasonings. My husband got his fish with lemon pepper and I got mind with Cajun seasonings. Our meals came with veggies and the option of rice, a potato, or fries. We both got the potato. Really enjoyable. Definitely would come back again.

There was a little wait but nothing crazy. The view is great and the food was good. The server was also funny and charismatic.

My husband and I took a day date trip to Mackinac City yesterday and stopped by The Hook restaurant around 1230. We were promptly greeted by the hostess who sat us in the outside section, window view. Our server was absolutely incredible. He was prompt, delightful, and checked in on us in just right intervals (if you know you know!). But the FOOD. My husband and I are from the South, New Orleans, and that was the BEST crab cake on this planet. I am forever going to dream about that lemon vest whip. I am drooling now thinking about it. I ordered the coconut shrimp and my husband the ahi tuna and everything was absolutely DELICIOUS. The prices may make you hesitant to check this place out but TRUST ME IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. I cannot wait to make a trip back and enjoy this culinary experience. 100/10!

We arrived around 2 PM for a late lunch. The staff were very nice, and the view of the docks and lake from the restaurant is so pretty. We ordered two cocktails to start, the rum runner and the Michigan mule. Both were very good, on the sweeter side. We got an appetizer of a crab cake, which was a little disappointing to only get one for $13. It was very tasty though, as were the fish and chips.

Nice views of the lake, great location in downtown Mackinaw City, with amazing Bloody Mary's! We also really enjoyed the Michigan Mule, lobster bisque, and lobster roll! The bloody mary was super tasty with the right amount of spice and seasoning. The Michigan Mule was very unique and perfect for someone who loves the taste of artificial cherries. The lobster bisque was very good and creamy. The lobster roll had an abundance of lobster and sauce, but I usually prefer lobster rolls with larger chunks of lobster meat. The service was fast and there was lots of space for parking. The restaurant is on the second level and easily accessible by stairs or an elevator. We would've liked to see scallops on the menu, but overall, we loved the restaurant, food, and drinks!

Lobster mac and cheese but I don't see a lobster only a strand and little salty the vegetable is good on the side for price of 32

Not cheap but you are paying for the view of the water front. Personally I enjoyed the shrimp po boy!

Food is average and very high priced. Service is extremely slow - waited 45 minutes for a drink and wasn't terribly busy. Great views

The broiled white fish is great. Also, try the lobster bisque- it is very tasty. On a slow day, but the service was still a little slow.

Ask the Community - The Hook Lakeside Grill

    Is this a dog-friendly restaurant?

    No.

Would love to see the menu. Do they have any vegan options?

I did not see any vegan options, but it was a very new menu. I believe I took/posted a pic of the menu; which was somewhat limited at the time.

What a terrible place to eat!…read more our group of 4 were seated upstairs, ordered drinks and food, then saw a friend downstairs. we invited him to come up and eat with us, and when he did he mentioned 4 others from our ski group (24) were on their way. So we went down to his table, a bigger table, and had a seat. The server came by and asked if we wanted to order, to which we said we already had ordered upstairs but were going to move down to dine with our friend in a larger table. We were told we couldn't do that and had to go back upstairs! I asked to talk to a manager. When the manager came out, without even asking what was going on, He told me we had to go back upstairs and could not join our group! When I questioned his remark, he looked at me and said " you can leave" So we did! We went to Audies a few blocks away..... MUCH better food, DEFINITELY better prices and in talking to a few locals, found out how BAD customer service is at DIXIE, and that NONE of the locals will eat there! Management doesn't care about customers, just get them in and get them out! 100% tourist trap, HIGH prices, TERRIBLE staff including the "MANAGER" This is definitely a place that will fail and rightfully so. When a business doesn't care about customer service and only the bottomed line $$$$$ word travels fast! Terrible experience and will NEVER go back!

He even wished my mom a happy Mother's Day before taking our order, which was a nice touch. We started with the Street Corn Nachos as an appetizer, then ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a grilled portobello mushroom sandwich, both with fries on the side (an additional $4 each). This was an excellent place to bring my mom since she's vegetarian, and the restaurant had plenty of vegetarian-friendly options. The food was excellent, especially the nachos -- the queso was amazing. The restaurant also gives you a lot of customization options, like swapping chips for fries for an extra $4 or adding protein to the nachos for an additional charge. That said, while the nachos were really good, they were still $18 without any protein, which honestly felt overpriced for chips, cheese, and vegetables. We came during lunch service, and overall the food, service, and view made for a great experience. However, it is definitely on the expensive side. Most entrees seemed to range from around $20-30. Still, if you're willing to spend a little more for quality food, generous portions, and a great atmosphere, it's definitely worth visiting.

The wait was about 15-20 minutes - so much better of a wait time! I like the theme and vibe of the place - the play on bikes and name of the restaurant is perfect. Decor is bike themed but not overly done. Rustic and laid back. Our waitress was excellent - very friendly and attentive. All staff were wearing masks. Good drink menu in addition to food. A lot of small plate options but the portion sizes of the small plates could feed at least 2-4 people. I went with sweet potato fries and steak tender bites - delicious! The dipping sauces for the fries had three different options - sweet/savory, loved trying each one. The sweet potato fries were not mushy and had a good crunch.
