Went with the family for bingo night. The beer and the selection of beers was good. The food was not. Our pizza was delivered with the dough still raw, fish tacos were over cooked and crispy, the burger also was well well well done. I for one will not return. read more

Very disappointed with our lunch today as our family was looking forward to dining here. Spent over a $100 for lunch and we could not eat half of what we ordered. Fried Pickles were hard, cold and way too salty. Looked like they had been sitting around for a long time before getting to us. Pretzel was very hard and had to struggle to pull apart. Cobb salad had brown guacamole on it and the chicken was very strange and scary to eat. Sandwich my wife ordered had way too much much sauce on it which was overwhelming and made rhetorical bun so soggy. Chicken Tenders were ok but impossible to mess up. Always want to support local businesses but this was the first and last time sadly! read more

I've been to this place about 3 times now and it gets worse each time. It's like hanging at a kids' day care center. Morons bringing in tiny babies who scream to be fed etc whilst the morons just smile; older children racing around, yelling, in the way - uuuuggggghhhhh. Crap food hugely overpriced, seriously dreadful wine and the owner is scary - I witnessed him do a u turn at high speed, narrowly miss a child on the sidewalk and race off in the middle of the day. Unpleasant, unfriendly jerk. This hovel is for parents of small children where they can eat/drink and release the kids to wreck the evening for everyone else. Anywhere is better than here. We've only been here twice. The first time, I enjoyed the beer, but the food (though good) left a bit to be desired. This last time we went, they've really changed. The food was great, I ate the same thing I got last time ('Merican Burger, like I said, it was good) and the dang thing was much better this time. I've recently moved down here from the Seattle area and found this spot during Covid when it was just outdoor only. I have to say this spot made my move enjoyable. The owners are pretty cool , the bartenders knowledge and friendly. The Beer selection is Tops and the outdoor seating area is large and welcoming with TVs located throughout and they even show Football ( Soccer in the U.S ) They have live music on Sundays and trivia on Mondays. With open air and plenty of space this is a great place to spend with your friends or even bring the kids and family. The food was delicious had sweet potato fries with my burger so good! They have a mini dog menu , very dog friendly. Good variety of drinks. The restrooms were very clean . Daddy Day Care! The Chuck e Cheese of beer gardens. This once enjoyable establishment has become a hit with the post-game gatherings of little leagues and kids soccer teams. The parents could care less that their youth are using the grounds as their own personal playground. Like a mini Pinocchio's Pleasure Island, kids run wild in and around all of the guests tables, throwing dolls into the street, doing handstands against the fence, and playing tag while yelling at the top of their lungs and sweating profusely as they run back and forth past your table. Parents oblivious as they enjoy their brews while the rest of us are subjected to the antics of their misbehaved children. We were hoping it was just a bad night but this has continuously happened on several occasions; the staff and owners just look the other way. We won't be back. read more

Ambiance - great place just to hang out with family and friends. They have a good outside seating area with synthetic grass and an area that has a dirt floor. Outside is clean and spacious. Can't complain. 7 out of 10. Food - 4 out of a 10. We ordered the following. Dirty Tots - really good. Comes with bacon, blended nacho cheese, and green onions on over crispy tots. This was the best thing we had there. 10 out of a 10. Cheeseburger - mediocre. Not juicy and dry. Maybe the portion was 80/20 ratio or maybe 90/10. It tasted like a plain cheeseburger. Nothing made it stand out. There weren't any special seasoning that we could taste beside salt and pepper. 7 out of 10 Shrimp ceviches - this was a rip off. It came out in a large bowl and there were mostly juice. Barely any shrimp or salsa. We had to use a spoon to fish for the chunks to be placed onto our chips. Definitely not worth the money. Flavor was okay. 6 out of 10 Mac and cheese - if you love your Mac and cheese cheesy, this will hit the spot. Lots of cheese, but the cheese is a bit grainy. Not sure what type of cheese was used but it was good. The same cheese that were used on the tots. Tasted like a blend of Cheddar and something else. Overall, flavor was good and the price was fair. 8 out of 10 Guacamole, salsa, and chips - we thought it was some joke when this was brought out. The salsa was basically a hot sauce where you would get when you order a burrito from a Mexican restaurant. There were zero chunks of tomato's, onions, cilantro, or jalapeños. It was literally just a sauce. The guacamole was a small scoop of avocado. Didn't have any flavor to it. It was served inside a small plastic sauce container. The same size as the Mexican hot sauce you would get when you order to go from a Mexican restaurant. To charge $8 was just pure robbery. I would not order this again. You get some hot sauce, a handful of Costco tortilla chips, and half an avocado for $8. 1 out of a 10 Sweet potatoes cross cut fries - not sure how they screwed this up, but the fries were not crispy and they didn't put enough salt on the fries. The flavor of the fries were pretty bland. This is no fault of the cook, probably got a bad batch of sweet potatoes. I will need to try this again another time. But the first time trying this, it wasn't good. We ended up throwing away more than half of our order. We didn't even bother wanting to take it home. It was just bland. 4 out of 10 Drinks - no complaints here. We ordered several beers and they were all exceptional. If you want a place just to hang out with some friends or family to have a drink, watch a little sports on tv, play cards at the table, then I recommend this place. It's a nice little place that is very chill. If you are hungry and expect good food, I definitely would not recommend this place. The only thing I recommend are the loaded tots. So far, based on all of the food we had ordered, they were mostly missed. If they do a better job with their food, I'm pretty sure they would draw a larger crowd. Good food will draw people. Would I come back here again? I definitely would, but with a full stomach, well...maybe save enough room for the tots. read more

Chill spot with good beer selection. My husband and I have been to the Hop Stop a couple times now. Parking, depending on the day can be a pain. The outdoor patio is the great to enjoy sunny weather and good beer. The food is decent. We've ordered the poke, tostadas, buttered noodles, and nachos. This is the Chuck E. Cheese of Poway! Parents bring their kids here, let them run wild, while they sit and enjoy their beers. It's a playground! The best is when they play games of tag, or hide and seek, running and shouting across the entire place. Their parents ignoring them, and other customers, the entire time as they drink their beers. Did I mention kids running and screaming? The best was when one family treated the Hop Stop like their kids' playroom. Action figures and toys were strewn across the place, and even blocked the entire entrance (I almost tripped on a plastic dinosaur). I only gave this place a second star (I would have given them 5) because the beer selection is quite amazing. And good luck enjoying it, as the kids run and scream in this kids playground. read more

"Hello" "Welcome" "We'll be with you in a minute" "Hi, I can help you with your order in just a minute" ...and endless variations of what either bartenders could've said, but didn't bother to say to us during our 15+ minutes waiting in line to be served. Instead, while the male bartender was helping the customer ahead of us, the blonde bartender decided to start washing pint glasses and cleaning the bar area while continuing to ignore us. She stopped what she was doing just to start a conversation with a couple and their dog as they were leaving though. When those customers left she went right back to cleaning and ignoring us. We decided to walk over next door to Mission Cellars for wine. Neither bartender seemed to notice or care that we left. Clearly they didn't need or want our patronage. It's too bad because we just wanted to go there for beers even though their food isn't great, but we still liked their outdoor, open-space venue. And just to be clear, this is the 3rd time we experienced this blatant disregard from staff there. At least Mission Cellars next door helped salvage our night with their consistently wonderful service. read more

I had the Adult Mac & Cheese and I enjoyed it. It wasn't the best Mac & Cheese I've ever had, but it was still very good. My son had the chicken tenders and polished them off. No hesitation, just people helping each other. It was nice to see. Went there for lunch today and really enjoyed it.. I had the best Black bean burger I have had in quite some time. My kids and wife spoke highly of their meal as well. We had 4 meals with fries/ tots for $49. I really liked the choices on the menu as well. I try to eat healthy and could have ordered 6-8 items on the menu which is rare to find. Also, they mistakingly put Avocado on my burger which I had asked them to leave off and they apologized multiple times and brought me a tasty burger without Avocado in a few minutes. Great beer, service, selection , tunes, sports on TV , dogs welcome .... We are looking forward to a return trip. read more
