This was hands down the best new restaurant we've been to all year, I gotta say!! You would not AT ALL expect this from the outside, as it's in a little strip mall in Saint Albert, and you can't tell what it is. The name also feels like it doesn't quite match what you get- so this thing is modestly AMAZING. The food was literally incredible. My Parmesan crusted Salmon was PERFECT. Husband had a seafood bake and he couldn't stop saying how good it was. He said if we ever go back, he'd have a hard time deviating, that's how good it was. I can't wait to go back and try more things; especially after the disappointing lunch we just had in downtown Edmonton hahaha. Unreal. Go. Immediately. The chef/owner walked around and thanked everyone for their support once he had a moment. I genuinely wish him all the success, and hope that he gets the opportunity to open a more upscale spot that matches how incredibly upscale his food is!!!! Amazing. Thank you Hot Grill!!!!

So after a long Friday, neither the wife or I wanted to cook so we decided to try somewhere new. This place had some very good reviews in st albert which is fairly close to us. Upon arrival, didn't look like much. Looked like they were trying to get a patio ready out front. Walking in, was a lot smaller than we imagined, but fairly busy. We were greeted by a young lady who ended up being our server. She was very pleasant and cleaned off a booth for us to enjoy our dinner in. We ordered our bevys and the young lady brought me the wrong beer, but it was better than the one I originally ordered-haha... so I won't hold it against her. We started with the fried pickles and cauliflower. Surprisingly VERY good and presented very well. Our main meals blew our minds!! Presentation and quality was exquisite. I cannot even begin to describe how delicious my seafood pasta bake was.... highly recommend this place. Another awesome touch was the chef/owner came out to each table to greet his customers. I really liked that as you could see the pride he takes in making sure his customers are happy. I will definitly be going back here!!!

Easy to find via Google Maps. Lots of parking right in front of the restaurant. Place was only 20% full when we arrived 6:30PM on a Tuesday. We arrived as 4 adults, 1 toddler, and 1 infant. They had a corner booth which was perfect for us as we could all see each other and yet we didn't disturb all the other diners with the little chatty kiddos. They had high chairs available too. Good wine list. The waitress was very friendly and brought us extra napkins and always served with a smile. Lots of variety on the menu which made it hard to choose, but also great as everyone found something they really wanted to try. Lots of TVs to watch sporting events but they were really distracting for my 3 year old nephew. We got the fried pickle and cauliflower bites appetizer. Neither of these foods are high on my list of likes but both had nice batter and the dips were a great addition. I got the chicken carbonara. Very nice presentation. I have never had the bacon not already mixed in so this was a neat concept. It was great to see real bacon used and the size of each peice made the dish feel luxurious but they were too big to be able to enjoy bacon with each forkful of noodle. The radish sprouts on top looked absolutely lovely and tasted cool too! The garlic bread did not taste like garlic at all but was soft and well toasted. The noodles were cooked perfectly. I really liked the amount of sauce - every bite was creamy! Tasted more like a nice chicken alfredo. Overall great place for a family dinner (with the kids) with good food.

Driving around on a Saturday we found this hidden gem! There were not too many reviews so we didn't know what to expect but we were happily surprised with great service and delicious food. I ordered a Chicken Carbonara, which was seasoned with Candian bacon in a delicious creamy wine sauce. It came with garlic toast on the side. My hubby ordered a Prime Rib Burger, he said that the pattie was perfectly cooked and the sesame bun was really good. The service was great. We asked the server if he could bring a carrot chopped in slices for our baby as we forgot to bring his veggies and they brought it to the table, the three of us had a great time! We will definitely come back soon!

I had visited this little place not too long ago and had a great breakfast, but on a recent Friday I was in the area and able to try it for lunch. The menu is limited, but that just means you're getting better quality of food items. I went with a friend for lunch, but I'll only comment on what I ate and saw of her lunch. I ordered the Hoisin Stir Fry Bowl with chicken and my friend ordered the Prime Rib Dip. The food came out in reasonable time and my goodness....the presentation of my stir fry bowl was beautiful! The stir fry was a perfect portion of rice, chicken and veggies. It had great seasoning, not too much sauce and it was delicious! It was nice to see a different stir fry flavor on the menu besides just teriyaki. They have that too, but the hoisin was a nice change of flavors. My friends beef dip looked amazing and she said it tasted great too. Loaded with prime rib and cheese. I would definitely head there again for amazing meal!

A great little spot that was a perfect night out with the family. I love the tables here- so nice! I must say the service was so good, our server came and checked up on us plenty of times and with the kids she was not only accommodating, but very considerate and kind. Quick to bring the high chair for us and offer something for my little one to keep him busy. A few reviews mentioned the bacon carbonara so someone had to order that to see if it lived up to all the talk. AND...(pause for dramatic effect) it was delightful! The presentation by far was what I liked most about this dish, but with freshly fried bacon, radish sprouts, and lots of chicken, and pasta coated in a simple but tasty sauce... ya it hit the spot! I would agree this is a great choice to order. BUT I also really really loved my burger: the Chipotle Onion Ring Burger! It was huge! I actually shared it with my spouse and was so full from just the half! Like they put it all into this burger so you won't be disappointed! Paired with some perfectly crisp sweet potato fries and you will leave exceptionally satisfied. The Prime Burger was also massive and my son was super happy with his burger. It would be super nice to see a plain burger option on the kids menu, there is a chicken burger option but my kids are definitely more beef favoured so we had to split a burger with him off the main menu. Again paired with regular fries that were cooked perfectly for crisp and hot fries- and I'm a bit of a fry snob so this is saying something if I mention the fries twice in a review! Also tried the deep fried pickles and cauliflower bites which were satisfyingly crisp and very good. Lots of parking out front and looks like a little outdoor seating area in the summer and this would be a great summer spot. Huge bathrooms but it would be really nice if they put a baby change table in the women's bathroom.

Second time going here. 1st time, I had the chicken carbonara, very good. Service was great, the chef even came out to ask how the meal was, and wanted to know if we had feedback. Polite and friendly. 2nd time, ordered the curry dish. My grandparents got the butter chicken, & teriyaki rice bowl. Both enjoyed the food. The plating is done beautifully on all dishes. To start we had the flatbread - it was delicious. Definitely wanting to go back again, and try some other dishes they have. reasonably priced. It's a plus they use reusable containers rather than styrofoam. Way to go Hot Grill!

Loved that it comes with extra protein (chicken). Friend got Veal Scaloppine: very garlic-y. Friends said she would not get again. But very generous portion of vegetables - broccolini, peppers, carrots. And the half of a baked potato came with cheese baked on top which looked amazing. I called and was quoted 22min which I thought was quite long but it took me that long to get there anyway. There was lots of 2 hour street parking available. Very nice decor inside - fancy, classy, romantic would be how I would describe the decor. The restaurant was completely empty at 5PM although they did just open at 4:30PM. My order was ready when I arrived (20min later). I got the Arancini appetizer, Gnocchi entree, and Tartufo (choc + raspberry ice cream) dessert all for ~$40. The food survived the 11 minute drive home (even the ice cream). The Arancini was delicious - like a deep-fried risotto ball should be. I liked that it came with a touch of tomato sauce which gave it a nice acidic kick. The gnocchi were larger than I expected and therefore hard to eat in 1 bite so I had to try to cut each one before eating. Not the best I have ever had. I got it with the rose sauce which was nice but nothing special. Creamy but not a lot of flavour. The tartufo was promising - like a black forest cake but ice cream style. Too bad it had such a miniscule amount of raspberry. 95% chocolate ice cream; which was good chocolate ice cream for sure but not enough acidic to balance out all the sweet for me. Place and menu look great and promising but unfortunately, I was underwhelmed for the price and can't see myself back anytime soon.

The tall brutalist cement benches are gone and replaced w cushioned benches and chairs reminiscent of the 60's. Clean and functional. The walls are now a muted terra cotta colour and the sound is much better modulated by the panelling. The main floor has more cozy tables signifying a more casual restaurant. The food is anything but casual. Made for sharing, so like your dinner companions, on 2 separate occasions went as a couple and a group of 5. The Siciliano bread w house made ricotta is excellent. The bread is crusty and airy. Soft crumb and the right amount of salt in the crust. We had a prawn appetizer. So delicious and the Prawns Diavolo were of excellent quality. The lamb appetizer provides 5 pieces cooked to perfection w a lovely sauce. The chicken wings Pollo Spiedino were done well and crispy on skewers. The gnocchi di polenta w black truffle was excellent. The polenta makes it a little less cloud like but delicious, nonetheless. The ravioli was so fresh and light - the whole plate disappeared in a flash. The paccheri here is spicy and a favourite. The real star if the Domenica served w ziti as the e noodle in a light ragu. The meat - beef (both brisket and rib) pork meatball and fennel sausage was fall off the bone and browned well. Even for four, it was generous. Desserts we tried were the sorbeto which this month is BC nectarine flavour w a lightly salted cream to cut the sweetness. The chocolate mousse was a layered masterpiece of mousse and cream, powdered w chocolate and chocolate crystals. Really an excellent dessert. Great for date night and even better w a group to share more plates. Corso does it again!

Place has "very fancy" feel and would be good for special events/celebration dinners. Free bread to start was fine but not the best I have had. I prefer mine with butter but the oil/vinegar is probably more typical. We tried the: Calamari: 10/10, great texture, loved that we got 2 sauces to dip in. Fettuccine Tavolino (cheese wheel pasta): 10/10. Boyfriend was not too full after. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Nice cheesy creamy flavor. Ravioli Alla Zucca: 9/10, I can't remember if there were 6 or 7 ravioli in the dish. Very pleasing presentation. In my opinion too many sundried tomatoes. I love that it comes with sundried tomatoes as that added some great tang/flavor. Ravioli themselves were perfectly cooked. Brown butter sauce was excellent and wanted more. Creme Brule: 9/10, exactly as expected, definitely enough to share between 2 people. Affogato: vanilla gelato was 11/10 good to me but boyfriend didn't like the flavor. We both agree the espresso was excellent. Very small portion (too small to share!). Free cookies at the end were fine. We were greeted nicely, asked where we wanted to sit and had our water orders taken quickly. We had to wait a while for our server but I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt as I don't think he is a server and may have had other things to do. But it w asnt busy and we were paying a lot so I should expect a little more attentive service. We eventually ordered an appetizer, each had a special and drinks . The appetizer was a lobster and cream cheese dip with toasted pita. And it was very good, though the pita was just cut in triangle. Hard to mess that up. The dip was fantastic and cheesy with big chunks of lobster. Great start and we were excited. That is the end of anything good. My wife ordered the special ravioli with shrimp, scallops and mussels. The shrimp was decent but nothing special. The scallops needed a better sear and were a bit soggy. The mussels were so small as to be almost tasteless. But the crime was the actual ravioli. It was thick and under cooked. The stuffing was good but you can't get over the huge bites of undercooked pasta. It was very off putting. The sauce and stuffing made it palatable but my wife couldn't finish .And I know it wasn't just us because I talked to friends at another table who said the same thing about theirs. I ordered the surf and turf special. Big mistake. Great presentation with the big lobster tail and good looking steak. The lobster was good. Not great. But it was a bit bland if you didn't dip it in the butter. And it seemed way smaller than the shell. I gave a bite to my wife and that left me with basically 3 more bites. And I'm not talking big bites. Normal bite sizes. Seemed the shell was larger than the meat in it. The steak looked great. But I couldn't even swallow the first bite. It was so stringy and fatty. It is hard trying to spit out food at a fancy restaurant. But I had to. And not just once! Every piece around the edge was fatty and gristly and stringy and I couldn't eat it. I tried to cut around the sides and just eat middle pieces. Managed to get a couple pieces but most of them were still stringy and I had to chew forever to get it down to size to swallow. My jaws hurt. In the end, I managed to eat less than half and left two big spit balls of inedible meat and the circumference of fat on the plate. To make it worse, it was close to rare and almost raw looking in some parts despite ordering medium rare. Just an awful steak all around. The mashed potatoes were very good though not plentiful and not near enough to overcome the meat. The veggies of one carrot, one bush of broccoli and a couple soggy zucchini slices were well done and actually I could have made a meal of them and been almost satisfied. When we started the dinner a group of four was sat behind us and they were the loudest people ever. No indoor voices. They seemed to know our waiter as they had a couple loud conversations with him and he was over a lot. I mean our food was terrible but the ambience had been nice. There was at least that. But now even that was ruined by these people. And I know I can't blame the restaurant for that. But I will say that they got much more attention from that point than we did. I actually think he came over exactly once to see how things were and we didn't get offered another drink at all. Our water glasses were refilled, not always by him. Again, maybe he had other things to do, but he seemed to have time for this other table. But I would still expect more attentive service at a place like this. By this time, we just wanted to leave. My wife still had half her plate and my plate looked like a bloody massacre on porcelain. Then our waiter came with a dessert with a sparkler going. Our friends surprised us by ordering it. It was bread pudding with a ball of vanilla ice cream. The bread pudding was good not great. IBut it was passable and it was free so that makes it better. Ice cream is ice cream and great but it is ice cream and hard to mess that up. In all it was a passable dessert but did not come close to making up for the atrocity that was the main course. Unfortunately, we are not the kind to send food back or cause a scene but it would have been deserved. Anyways, he leaves us the machine and we don't see him again. Got a good bye and thanks from the hostess but that was it. We got in the car and looked at each other and agreed it was terrible and we would never go back and that we would have a do-over anniversary in a couple months to make up for it. Such high expectations and promising start but overall not good at all. There are too many good restaurants to go to and explore in this city to waste another night there.
