Made dinner reservations for a birthday for 4 of us. Place was only 30% full Sunday at 6PM. Lots of mood lighting (low light), feels fancy. Appetizers you Have to pick 3 or 6. We got the tomato, mushroom and brie bruschetta. Mushroom one had goat cheese which I dislike but other table mates said was delicious. Tomato one was good. Brie was my favorite. Not easy to share with the table which made it very awkward and not everyone got to try some. You can cut them into about 3 pieces which still left 1 of us not being able to try it. I got the Spaghetti Carbonara: 9/10. Very good, pasta was cooked well, there was enough sauce. Good flavor. Boyfriend got the special which was cheese stuffed ravioli in rose sauce - 10/10. Loved that it comes with extra protein (chicken). Friend got Veal Scaloppine: very garlic-y. Friends said she would not get again. But very generous portion of vegetables - broccolini, peppers, carrots. And the half of a baked potato came with cheese baked on top which looked amazing. Friend got the lasagna and loved it, reports it is not spicy and has a lot of meat (ground) in it. They brought over a free chocolate mousse dessert with a sparkler as well. I love this little spot in St. Albert. Today we wanted to sit on the patio and enjoy some beverages, unfortunately Mother Nature lately doesn't allow much outdoor sunshine time. The server we had let us sit right inside and left the doors open so we could still have the breeze....until it started to rain and the wind picked up. Our server was on the ball got us our drinks and they were great. They were serving rose wine all day. They had a lovely summer menu as well. I got the Tuscan Strawberry kiss it was just ok. But I'm not a huge fan of preseco so that's my fault. I then ordered the coconut mint margarita and that was a hit!!! My friend had a raspberry drink I forgot to ask her what it was. I tried it and it was also very light and summery. My friend and I shared their version of a charcuterie board called the Chefs Board. I was happy with it, not a fan of smoked cheeses but there wasn't much of that so can't complain. My mom and her friend both had seafood pasta one was gluten free the other regular both in a white wine sauce. That sauce I wish they sold by the barrel it was so light and flavourful. What a great dish!! I really like the ambience here too. It's lightly lit inside and it's very warm and cozy. They also have a lounge side which I've been to a few times as well. Visited Sorrentino's Bistro Bar in St. Albert today for the 2nd time. Our first visit (nearly a year ago) was much better than today's visit. We arrived at 1115am and had to wait until 1130am for them to open for lunch. We were the only table seated in the lounge. We chose to sit in the lounge which had a nice atmosphere but smelled strongly of their wood burning oven which put my tummy a little off on a hot summer's day. I inquired about a suggestion for a non-alcoholic summertime drink - preferably something bubbly and sour. Server/bartender couldn't think of anything.... Okay, water then. Hubby settled on the Chicken Parmigiana and I ordered Linguine Pescatore with a white wine sauce. While waiting for our entrees, complementary bread (rosemary infused?) was provided with olive oil and balsamic vinegar - delish! Pollo (Chicken) Parmigiana was $18.00 on the lunch menu and came with optional sides - Hubby chose mashed potatoes and veggies. He quite enjoyed his entree - I though the tomato sauce tasted quite acidic and could use some balancing. The Linguine Pescatore was $18 on the lunch menu and came with 3 scallops, 3 shrimp, 3 calamari rings, 3 mussels, and 3 clams... Only problem is 1 clam was closed! When I server came back to check on us approximately 10 minutes into the meal I showed her my closed clam and noted that I was disappointed that the kitchen would send out something that could potentially make a customer very ill and it's not as though they were slammed busy (us being the only table in sight). She apologized and offered to have the dish refired. At this point, I had already eaten all the seafood off my plate and my husband had almost finished his entree. I politely declined but she asked several more times and convinced me to at least have some clams refired. She took my closed clam to the kitchen to show the chef and came back approximately 5 minutes later with 5 clams to replace my 1. Even with the closed clam issue aside, I found the white wine sauce to be subpar and I usually LOVE a good white wine sauce on my seafood! I couldn't quite tell if it was the choice of white wine or herbs that didn't taste so fresh or herbs that didn't pair so well with this particular white wine but the outcome was a kind of old tasting sauce - definitely did not scream fresh. Our server was pleasant and polite - my only complaint is that it took her about 10 minutes to check in with us upon receiving our entrees and that she didn't have a drink suggestion for me. We used an Entertainment Coupon for a $15 discount - so today's total only came to $22.05 - I certainly wouldn't have been happy with a $40 bill. We will return to Sorentino's again... Just not at the top of our to do list. I did notice a fairly decent Happy Hour menu available in the lounge and patio from 3-6pm daily... We went to Sorrentino's St Albert for the first time and let me tell you it won't be the last time. We had the flatbread bruschetta and calamari to start. Had half a bruschetta to bring home for midnight snack. Yum yum, what time is it? Our meals were both delish and the complimentary tiramisu for our anniversary was so good, just wish I wasn't so full. My partner is hard of hearing and they had placed us in a nice quiet spot. Our server Mohamed was attentive and made our dining experience wonderful. The service was exceptional. Now that we know the serving sizes are not sparse we know where to cut back but the bruschetta won't be the one. read more

My wife wanted to go for Italian food to celebrate her birthday so we decided on Sorrentino's. We also were celebrating my Grandmother's 93rd birthday. We had a rather large group of 13. I had originally made reservations for 10. I called back the day before the birthday and added a few guests to the original reservation. All the communication I had was over the phone with a fellow named Walter. He was an ABSOLUTE PLEASURE to deal with. When I called back the second time, he knew my name and knew all about my reservation. When we arrived at the restaurant, Walter showed us to our table in the middle portion of the restaurant. We had 2 children in our group and one of the children needed a high chair which they promptly got for us. Walter was extremely accommodating to our group and asked us multiple times if there was anything that he could do for us. He took a few photos of our group, and addressed any and all issues that our group had. Walter was charming and chatted with our group and made us feel very welcome. The service was pretty good as we basically had a server dedicated to our group.Bread is provided at the beginning of the meal with the olive oil, balsamic and I think garlic dip. My wife and I ended up ordering a couple of appetizers as well as a starter salad before our meals. We got an order of the brie, sun dried cherry bruschetta and an order of the prosciutto wrapped figs. The brie cheese with the sweetness of the sun dried cherry and honey was a good combination. The figs were delicious too, but I think that anything wrapped in prosciutto is good! The cesar salad we ordered was good too but I like a little more garlic taste in my dressing. I had one of the special summer menu items. I forget the exact name of it but it was the shrimp pizza with peppers and thai sauce. I definitely liked this pizza as the toppings are not standard pizza fare. I've had better pizza dough/crust before, but it was still good. To conclude our meal, my Grandma and wife were both brought out birthday desserts complete with candles. This was a really nice touch and were thoroughly enjoyed! I had a little sample of the key lime pie and found it was some of the best key lime pie I have had. Key lime is one of my favorite pie flavors and that desert didn't disappoint. All in all we had a GREAT birthday dinner experience and it was made extra special by Walter. We will definitely be back for some more Italian eats! Maybe even a cooking class! read more

This was our first time coming to Sorrentino's, the food was fairly good and the drinks were great it's unfortunate the customer service was horrendous otherwise this would've been a regular spot for us. My husband and I took my elderly grandma here for dinner, we asked for a booth but they said all the booths were too small for 3 and could only accommodate two. I pointed to a large booth that was empty at the back and asked if we could sit there. I explained my grandma has a bad back and hearing problems and the extra cushion and quiet would be much better for her. He said no that booth was for parties over 4, I pointed to another and said "I guess same for that one?" He laughed at me and said yep, we couldn't sit there either. I offered to pay for an additional plate of food to raise the bill to what would be a party of 4. Nope still made my 85 year old grandma sit in the middle of the restaurant on a hard chair. Those two booths he refused to let us use stayed vacant the 2 and a half hours we were there. The waitress was kind, the bar tender was great but whoever was seating us that night ...what a jerk. read more

This has been a family favorite of ours for a long time. There are three favorite restaurants in St Albert that are our favorites but Sorrentinos was on the top of the list. I recently went there with my sister and had dinner and drinks. It really does not matter how many times we go, the staff treat us like regulars The best time to go is during their happy hours ( Monday to Saturday 3pm to 6pm ) where the food and drinks are at a great price. I have a few favorite dishes that I can not resist. Before your food arrives, they serve you with warm bread and oils to dip in. I love their calamari to start. Perfect every time. Not rubbery like some places. Follow up with the pollo parmigiana ( chicken breast with melted parmesan cheese) and either pasta or potato and vegetables. .. or the veal cannelloni. By the time you finish all that, you are well into a food coma... and there is no better feeling than that. I have never been disappointed with any Italian food ( except Olive Garden.. ) and this restaurant knows Italian food. Never been disappointed in anything there... except their margaritas are not really good.. but this is an Italian restaurant not Mexican so it was really not surprising.. but they have other drinks that are really good. Before both my parents died, we used to come here on a regular basis. They loved coming here.. my mom would get the salmon pizza ( fish ? On a pizza??? you would think that would be just godawful.. but it really isn't ). My dad would order anything as long as it was not pizza or melted cheese... blah! He would say! Is it pricey? We came to Sorrentinos in St. Albert many times before the Pandemic and loved it. Food and service where always awesome and the little side room with the fireplace is a great place for a small private celebration. I don't know if ownership has changed since the pandemic but the quality of food certainly has. We came for a small celebration last Saturday and I'm still disappointed since I was the one who recommended Sorrentinos. The appetizers (cheese, cold cuts, olives etc ) looked amazing and tasted great. The bruschetta flatbread tasted very flat and my chicken pasta dish with mushrooms was not in any way what I expected. ( very tasteless like mixing noodles with a can of chopped tomatoes) the chicken was also soggy and the mushrooms and gravy awful. The other lady who also had ordered it also didn't like it. The other people who had Samon, Steak etc. where ok but didn't think it was outstanding. After Dinner we ordered coffee and cake. Coffee came quick but cake about 20 min later. All in all we had a nice evening , atmosphere and privacy in the side room was great , service was just ok and some of the food was better than the other. I won't be rushing back. read more

Sorrentino's in St Albert is located at the top hill just off the trail. This location has pretty standard Italian food fair. As many times as I can remember being here there's no one dish that really stands out but I've also never been unsatisfied with my meal. My last dining experience was a group event. To which I have to say this location has streamlined their group service. Anyway we started off with the the calamari and bruschetta. Both good but not exactly special. There was also a bread service and I love how they offered olive oil and balsamic vinegar infused with rosemary, instead of the standard butter. Next up was the salad. The starter salad was was fresh. I love how the dressing was simple and let the fresh ingredients of the salad shine through. For my entree I went with the salmon. The veggies were perfectly cooked. And lightly seasoned. The salmon was just a tad overdone but still moist enough. I really enjoyed the tomato topping. It really complicated the whole dish. To finish our meal we had a small bowl of vanilla and hazelnut ice cream. Overall a solid experience. And if you are in need of a group venue I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this location read more

I feel like praise is due at Sorrentinos. Rob has been our server numerous times and if possible, the only person I will have serve us. He's by far one of the best servers I've ever had, anywhere. He is charismatic, down to earth, attentive, and fun. He has gone above and beyond what is expected each and every time. He always has the perfect drink pairing, his food recommendations are flawless, (the salmon, white wine mussels, arancini) and is so accommodating. He is a perfect example of what an incredible server should be and I will keep going back and recommending this place as long as we have him. Special shout out to Walter as well. He's the one who set us up with Rob in the first place. It was our first time there and he welcomed us warmly then said he would take care of us, then directed us to Rob. I believe he is the manager and we adore him. Always so sweet, kind and personable. He's doing an incredible job!!! This is the perfect spot for girls night out!¡! Server was a cutie, we ordered gnocchi, pollo pizza and the cannelloni, all of which were excellent. However, the portions were quite large. (I'm not complaining but my pants are (food baby)) I would definitely recommended this restaurant for a date or another girls night out. The bartender was heavy handed the first time around. Came for lunch on the patio and was happy to find it wasn't super busy. We had a nice table in the shade and had a scenic view of the heavy traffic that was passing by. If only there were some trees or shrubs to provide some cover for the noise and emissions from the cars, trucks, and construction vehicles stopped at that light. We shared a few appetizers as our meal rather than order entrees: arancini sausage ($13), sauteed shrimp ($15), a small Caesar salad ($9) and the bocconcino salad ($13). The Caesar was a good size for a small salad. It was crisp and cold and light on dressing just as I asked. The bocconcino salad was slices of tomato, cheese, basil and balsamic. I found the tomatoes to be under ripe and I wish there was more basil. The arancini were disappointing. There were 4 to a portion, but for a sausage and rice dish, we were hard pressed to find any sausage taste. It was very finely diced into the rice and had no impact on the flavour. The shrimp were also disappointing. The sauce was good, but the shrimp were small and lackluster. It came with two crostini, which we used to soak up the sauce. I saw other tables get bread to start, but we were not brought any. I also found the service slow as we waited a long time for our drinks and our food. The highlight of the visit was the homemade tiramisu. I'm not sure I'd come back for an actual meal, but I'd come back just for the tiramisu...it was pretty darn good. read more

Group Function, about 20 of us. Set menu. Service was fantastic. The basil infused bread was cut while warm with a chef's knife and presented on the sideplate about 1/2 the normal height. Perhaps if it had been sliced with a bread knife, it would have held it's shape better. The Calamari was really good. The crispy onions on top were great as well. Bruschetta was pretty crunchy, though. It was disappointing not to have freshly grated parmesan cheese for the pasta. Sprinkling a spoonful of, what looked like the stuff from the grocers shelf, made the pasta inedible. My main course was the steak. It was ok. Others at our table had very rare steak or well done steak. The menu advertised all would be cooked to medium. The manager apologised for the rare steak saying it must have been a thicker cut. He offered to refire it. The potatoes were put on the plate with an ice cream scoop. Kinda like the high school cafeteria. The sauted vegetables were presented in a half sweet pepper. The veggies looked like they may have been cooked earlier in the afternoon. Green beans were on my plate, but they had not had the stems removed. Dessert was above average. I came here last night with my boyfriend and his family. I ordered the pollo parmigiana (my go to Italian meal) and when it arrived I was given dry chicken with burnt, leather like melted cheese. It was really not pleasant. I never usually complain over a meal but I had to it was just not good at all. I then replaced it with the penne Mediterranean which was overall really good. But I had pieces of cartilage on almost every piece of chicken on my plate. Overall a very disappointing visit, I expected more for the price and I left not knowing where that money went considering what I was given. Garlic Fest!!!! Fantastic food! We had the garlic soup to start, roasted garlic was very present, but not overpowering. I highly recommend it :) My boyfriend had the chicken and pasta. Chicken was almost alittle dry, but the flavor was amazing! I tried the noodles dry (as I can't eat tomatoes); they were really delicious without sauce! I had the salmon risotto. Salmon was absolutely perfect!!!! Risotto was perfectly cooked, with whole cloves of roasted garlic. Not one complaint! And to end such a great meal, garlic ice cream. That's right. Doesn't sounds like it should work; but it was amazing!!!!! Lots of cinnamon to savory it up, which allowed the garlic to meld beautifully into the dish. it is a must try for the ice cream lovers!!!! Have been to this restaurant numerous occasions and have always had a "decent" meal and service.... Took my mother for a dinner this evening for a nice meal out. I ordered the veal marsala which I have had before here. ( yes....veal sorry to all those that take offence...) The entree s $36....the veal that I was served literally tasted like "shoe leather" It took me 3 mins to chew a piece that I had cut which was approx 1" x 1"......I timed it cause I had a few pieces.... I sent the meal back after a few "chews".....my issue is that neither the manager at the time or our waiter seemed to care.....I wasn't apologized to at all....I ordered another dish that took 40 mins meanwhile my mother was done her meal.....i wasnt looking for a "freebie" meal.....you would think they would expedite another meal in a timely fashion....at the time the restaurant was approx 1/3 capacity.... Have eaten at this chain for quite a few years. The St Albert location seems to be a poor example of their restaurants. Food is average to good but their prices are now way past reasonable for what they serve. The overpriced bit is true now of all the outlets. The St Albert place does not have the sercvice levels, ambiance or location to warrant what they are charging or to rep the chain well. Twenty three bucks for pasta is just a rip. I had been to this Sorrentino's location many years ago, and after a recent visit it is good to see that this still remains as a solid choice for good Italian food in St. Albert. The atmosphere is dark and classy, but most of the patrons were in jeans, so whatever you feel like wearing seems appropriate. There are a number of two-person booths that would be nice for an intimate date night as well. We visited on a Saturday night from 5:30 - 7 pm, and the restaurant was not busy at all. The overall dining experience isn't as exceptional as some other Italian choices in the Edmonton area; the women's bathroom especially was a low point in the evening, with rust on the floor, empty soap dispensers and mismatched seats on toilet bowls. I also found their wine list to be pretty limited, only 2-3 choices under each variety. I feel like good wine is an essential pairing with pasta and appreciate a well curated wine list to go along with the menu. For food, I started with a caprese salad, and got the capellini favolosi for my main. The caprese salad was ok, but not the best I have had. There were tons of olives, which I totally missed seeing on the menu and would have skipped had I noticed. The tomatoes were good, but there was pesto instead of fresh basil, and not enough of it. I enjoyed the salad but wouldn't order it again. My main pasta was excellent however. It had angel hair pasta with oyster mushrooms, stewed tomatoes, prawns and lots of garlic. The prawns were rubbery but overall it was quite tasty, and the leftovers were a treat the next day. This Sorrentino's is a little older and a little less fancy than its downtown counterpart, and isn't as exceptional as places like Vivo or Corso 32. If you're craving a nice meal and feel like sticking in St. Albert though, this is a safe bet. read more

She was very knowledgeable and provided us with a great dinning experience! She was very thoughtful and courteous and went the extra mile to help us order and help with wine pairing. Terrible restaurant. I had the lasagna, which is a $20 menus item. Portion size was small and I left hungry. Their bread was so small and barely flavored. Their lasagna was mediocre at best. The food was iffy, and when I complained some kid came to my table and said he was the cook, he said he could heat it up, but when I asked for a new dish I was told no. He then said the cook was busy and we was a prep cook. Who does he think he is telling other people how to live.
