Really good hot dogs and fries, but last time the bun was too soft or something and got stuck all over my teeth. It was weird. In general, though, the hot dogs are really tasty. I like the hot link, the lemon chicken dog, and the Chicago dog (sans onions). The hot link and lemon chicken, I just get plain so that I can savor the flavor of the dog. Be sure to order your fries first; it takes several minutes to cook them. Somebody on here mentioned a hot link corn dog, and that sounds fairly amazing, so I'm going to have to remember that for summer and find me one. read more

This was a great go to spot when I was in college. The owners are great and have been serving up no BS hot dogs for years. I typically go with the Bandito dog (twist on a chili dog), but the hot links and polish dogs are great also. Be sure to check out their selection of mustards, they have a great of variety. Stopped by for a quick bite. The buns are steamed, very fresh and delicious! It I had the chili dog, assembled very well, chili was excellent with a generous portion of shredded cheese. Came in on a hot summer day because I was craving a hot dog. I ordered the spicy mango chicken because they were out of the apple chicken and it was super delicious! The place is tiny and they have a fan and a/c running. You can take it to-go or eat outside and people watch. I didn't get a combo, but they have them posted on the door as you enter of you are interested. Will definitely return again to try their apple chicken dog. read more

Went there yesterday but a needed to wash my hand. I had ordered my food but needed to wash my hands before eating. The person told me to go couple blocks to wash my hand. I asked if I could use his sink he said no way. Asked for sanitizer or wipes to wipe my hands he said doesn't have anything. I was eager to eat this place since had good reviews. I told him to cancel my order since I will not eat without washing my hands. The person got annoyed and started to give me attitude. I said I'm sorry but need to wash my hands since I will use eat to eat my hot dog. He became very unhappy mumbling. I just left but not going there again. I have gone to places where they just allow you to wash your hands but not this place. Have to give it one star for the attitude. read more

Might as well save a buck and stick with a hot dog (no discernible difference in taste). Notes to owner: you may THINK this is a polish sausage, but it is not even close. I always get the hot dog from the Davis farmer's market, with their awesome lemonade. Both are amazing. One of my favorite hot dogs ever- nice snap to the dog, a big selection of mustards, comes with free relish/sauerkraut/onions. The bun is what makes it so good- so soft and perfectly proportioned. Came here sober on one late Thirsty Thursday night. I regret not drinking a bit beforehand to overlook their behavior... The mid-20s-or-so man and younger woman working didn't greet us with the friendly customer service that I expected. Rather, they seemed annoyed that we were asking questions and did not make eye contact. They let us know that some items were out of stock, but my friend didn't understand and tried to order something that was unavailable. The guy snapped, "WE DON'T HAVE THAT." I can understand if we were pestering you for hours but we just came in and it's our first time! Besides, it wasn't like you explained to detail which items we could not order. My friend then stepped back a bit to rethink. Then another friend tried to order and the girl working as the cashier yelled, "[THOSE GIRLS] WERE BEFORE YOU. THEY'RE GOING FIRST." My bad Nicolas Cage, we thought no one was in line to order. Of course my chivalrous friends apologized and stepped away. But I could not tolerate this unbelievable rudeness and was about to flip tables. Alas, they did not have indoor seating. So I settled with storming outside instead and vowed to never come here again to support such a business. Lo and behold, I compromised my dignity, suppressed my integrity, and swallowed my pride to satisfy some cravings this past Trivia Night. The charming dude working was surprisingly friendly and patient and suggested I try the Chicago dog. I was pleased he didn't suggest the most expensive dog on the menu, and I ordered it. The service was very speedy. I got the runt of the tomatoes that were more like watery chunks versus neat slices characteristic of a Chicago dog. On the other hand, the Dusseldorf mustard complemented the bun and meat well that I didn't need to drench my dog in ketchup. Yes, my wiener went commando. This says a lot since I have an unsafe addiction to the bloody condiment. The vinegaryness of the mustard slightly subdued the spiciness of the onions and peppers - and I had a crap ton. Yum. And I didn't forget about you, relish - you sweet thang! The texture was absolutely sexy. Each time I bit into it, the sausage snapped and squirted into my mouth. The thing was long, juicy, and perfectly salty, and the tart pickle and spicy onions provided a nice crunch. The white bun was ordinary. As a carb lover, I'd appreciate more of it. The overpowering juices caused the bun to be on the soggier side--the aforementioned sexiness waned at this point--so I felt forced by the laws of nature to eat quickly. I can't attest to its authenticity until I visit Chi-City... Cards get charged tax. The dude let it slide so I saved a whopping $0.30. Thanks, brah! While it was delightfully delicious, I'm still bitter from my last experience to say it was worth $4.25. I would rather just head out to Costco in Woodland and get one of their polish sausages/drink combo for less than $3! The sausage is larger and the price is unbeatable. Otherwise, I'd try this joint again when I'm drunkenly stumbling around Downtown. read more

I absolutely love this place, and I make sure I always get a hot dog here everytime I visit Davis. Really small spot, but the flavor that comes out of here is ginormous! The hot dog itself is a stand-alone winner. It's the kind of hot dog where you bite into it, and you hear a "snap". That is very rare to these neck of the woods. I usually get the Bandito which is a hot dog topped with salsa, chili (which is delicious), onion, tomato, and cheese. On other occasions I have been known to just get a regular hot dog with EVERYTHING on it. The hardest decision you will make at this joint, is what type of mustard to use. They have over a dozen different types of mustard! A little side note for you vegetarians...all hot dogs here can be made vegetarian thanks to the tofu dog...=) read more

DONT GO TO THE HOTDOGGER IN DAVIS, CA OR ANY OTHER BOOTH THEY HAVE.......they had a booth at The Jack Russell Farm Brewery in Apple Hill today. I never imagined that they wouldn't have been prepared for the crowds they were facing, by having enough supplies to provide food for the full day. And to top it off they let customers wait until they got to the front ( approx 35 minutes) in the line before they bothered to tell them that they were out of everything. Or even apologizing and saying they were sorry for any inconvenience it might have caused. It happens, I get that, but the most upsetting part is that the employees were EXTREMELY Rude! The way they spoke to people was unexceptable. I hope a lot of people read this and decide not to support that kind of customer service..... No stars!!!! read more

I have yet to have a bad experience here. Maybe it's my love for hole in the wall places with amazing food. But the hotdogs here was absolutely delicious and the guys that work here love their jobs so much, or at least they work like they do. It's never difficult to carry and conversation with the person that works there. I love the music blasting from the little tiny hotdog shop late at night. The place is cozy and probably fit at most 5 to 6 people without anyone feeling violated, but it's located on a busy street where you can stand or sit in the front to eat your delicious hotdog. My favorite would be the apple sausage with everything on top. They open late on weekends, so on those nights where you are a little buzzed and getting the munchies, skip out on Jack in the Box because the Hotdogger will definitely hit the spot. read more
