Commuted 1 hour to try this place. The views were nice and the food was solid. The Puerto Plata roll was nothing special but was impressed with the Dykman benedict and bang bang fried cauliflower. The cauliflower was so crispy! There's plenty of drinks to choose from - I had a refreshing and creamy piña colada. I went on a Saturday and there was plenty of open seating. Great spot for groups or celebrations, but don't forget to make a reservation if you're more than 8 people. read more

My family and I often come down from CT to spend the day in NYC. We love visiting different spots in the city and this restaurant and this area is one of our favorites. The views are gorgeous and the food is very good, our kid's love the kid's menu options which makes things easier for us! I just want to give a shout out to Natalie the manager and Oneka our waitress, we needed to change spots after we ordered because it got a little too sunny and they were quick to make the change for us. I used to love this place. Beautiful views and a great atmosphere. However, the food and service have gone seriously downhill in the past year. We walked in to find the place nearly empty. Even midweek, during the summer one would expect a restaurant on the water to be at least half full. The fact that it wasn't should have given us a hint as to what we were in for. We scanned the menu at our table and placed our order. Half an hour later, it still hadn't arrived. In the interim, no one had approached our table to see if we wanted water, etc. When I went to the bar to check on our order, I was told that the machine was down and the order hadn't gone through... Funny, my bank app showed that I had been charged for it. Bartender wrote down what we had ordered and said he would get it into the kitchen. I then asked if we could just have the guac and chips that we had ordered while we waited. His response, "I don't run the kitchen." Not, "I'll have them take care of that for you." Not, "Sure, let me let them know." Nope. Just "Not my job." Mind you, the place was empty, so it isn't like he had a bunch of drink orders to fill. Half an hour after THAT exchange, our food finally arrived. Oh joy! Food was just OK. Certainly not worth waiting an hour for, and definitely overpriced. The incredibly loud music completely ruined what should be an incredible spot and partially open air restaurant alongside the Hudson. I've lived in NYC for 24 years and this is my first yelp review ever because ownership has this place all wrong. Hostess stand couldn't seat up when we got here at 5pm because they didn't have menus (!) and she reported they were understaffed. Service incredibly slow and disjointed. Onion rings followed our first appetizer by at least 25 minutes. The only redeeming aspect was the bus woman who was incredibly attentive, even gave our dog water and got the music turned down a notch. The waiting continued as we were seated for nearly 20 minutes in the sun before anyone even asked if we'd wanted any water. Yet another 20 minutes until our server came to take our order. I ordered the award winning ribs. I left hungry. For almost $30 its not fulfilling. If you don't like the taste of "smokey" this plate is not for you. I loved the taste my boyfriend didn't so its not for everyone. I got a handful of fries and a diet coke. The waiter Never brought the coke i had to go myself to the bar and get it. After 30 minutes i had 3 people bring me diet cokes by mistake (I received my drink that i ordered right when I sat down AFTER I received my ribs. Horrible service and it was NOT packed. It was decent. We were 4 in total and the 4th plate, which was a tiny plate of supermarket sushi, came out to the table when the rest of us were done eating. I came here last night and I must say i will not be returning. The food was not good and the drinks were lackluster and the service was ok. Now the reason why I gave two stars was the outdoor view and the waitress was nice. Ok so let's start the appetizer was calamari and it was ok the portion was really small. Then for sides we ordered fries and macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese had no flavor it tasted like nothing. The fries were ok nothing special, and they also did not have flavor. We also ordered paella which to me was horrible, and had no flavor neither. Also the only seafood it had was two shrimps and one piece of chorizo. The rest was clams and mussels in the rice, nothing in this plate had flavor. Now the next thing the star of the show was pina colada which was thick and quite tasty. When I told the waitress I did not like the paella and returned it she did not charge us for it. In the bill they did include a 15% gratuity charge. I would not be back to be honest the food was not good and the view is beautiful but it does not make up for the horrible food. I would say they should definitely reevaluate the menu and the food. Went yesterday and was served by a rude bartender with an ego problem. Had high hopes but was disappointed.

Mediocre food and terrible service. Once seated, took over 15 minutes to get water. Barely saw our waiter. Seems like they have no system for the delivery of food to tables, as runners/waiters came up to us a dozen times with food asking if we had ordered the food they were holding. Ribs were so salty, which was made even worse by the waiters not coming by to refill small water glasses. Partners Mac a cheese was bland. Tacos were ok. Watch out when you get the bill. Bill included item we never got. Our party of two already had an 18% gratuity added on, but the bill prompts you to check boxes to add another 18, 20, or 25 % gratuity on top of that. Really?! I'm sure some unsuspecting people have left 35%+ tips by accident. The view is beautiful. If the food and service were better i wouldn't mind the high prices, but not worth it. read more

My group and I were really looking forward to spending the 4th of July on the Hudson at the Hudson, but we were sadly disappointed. We arrived and we were not greeted by our server for nearly fifteen minutes after being seated. We were then informed that the kitchen would be closed but they didn't know how long it would be closed for. After we sat with our drinks for twenty minutes they informed us the kitchen opened so we decided to order a few things to share. We ordered French fries, watermelon salad, brisket sliders, ceviche, and the pork belly. All of which was underwhelming, but we were willing to pay for the items we didn't hate (watermelon salad and the ceviche) and the alcohol that we consumed. It took thirty minutes and our server ignoring us (multiple times) for one of our party to go up to the host stand to get the manager herself. Once Natalie, the manager, arrived she addressed the only Caucasian person at the table, when the others in the group were the ones seated up to speak (including the woman who went to the host stand in the first place). She gave us free dessert and took off one of the three items we did not touch, but at this point we just wanted to pay for the two items ate and the alcohol and leave. They came back with the receipt and only one item was removed, even though two items were taken from the table at the start. It took the manger and the server standing together to go through the things that we enjoyed. Natalie asked what was not great with the dishes we didn't enjoy and we explained the pork belly was rough, and the brisket was serving beef jerky. Natalie didn't seem open to hearing criticism about the food even though she asked, responding to one of our concerns with "oh I just tried that and liked it but whatever". Overall the entire experience was distressing despite mediocre attempts to satisfy our concerns. My party all works in the service industry and have never seen a situation handled this poorly is ten years of service. Do not recommend. Beautiful views, that's sadly about it. read more

First is location, vie looking at the Hudson River, the George Washington Bridge, and Jersey palisades is spectacular. The A train stops nearby, three blocks or fifteen minute walk. We had the wedge salad and Wagyu hotdog. Both were excellent and excellent value. Drinks were superb! We could taste the alcohol. This place has to be the best kept secret in the city. The views this place offers are nice but the food is disappointing. I ordered a skirt steak medium rare and found it well-done with an overwhelming burnt char taste. My dish was pretty much inedible save for the fried shrimp I added to it. My brother-in-law ordered a seafood boil in which the potatoes were undercooked, and the quality of the ingredients and sauce was just poor. Our server was nice at least but that's about the only thing this place has going for it. I'm not sure if management is cutting corners in the kitchen because of the large amount this place would cost to rent, but come on, there should be no reason all the dishes we ordered fell flat like this. After an absence of over a year we decided to pick-up an order of what we were hoping to be great fish and shrimp tacos and guacamole. $78 later as we started to eat the grub we realized, what a waste. The shrimp taco had no sauce and condiments, it was flavorless. The fish taco was smothered with a corn-laden "salsa" also tasteless. Just terrible! The guacamole base consisted of excessively ripe avocado, likely made that morning as part of a vat of the stuff, instead of being made-to-order; giving it a fermented, instead of fresh taste, that REAL RESTAURANTS SERVE (serve to order)! PATHETIC! What a waste for probably the best scenic venue for a restaurant in all of NYC. This place should be run by a serious top-Michelin quality chef and not amateurs who have no interest in top-quality food, despite charging as though they did. I had the Sparerib Platter and my friend had a chicken sandwich. He had a beer and I had a wine that came in a small plastic cup. Our meal came to $80!!!!!! Do not know why my meal was called "Sparerib Platter" when the only thing on the plate was 4 spareribs and NOTHING ELSE!!!! This was $28!!!! You are basically paying for the view and NOTHING ELSE!! What happen here, The Hudson has truly going down and is sinking fast. If you sit anywhere that is out side you have to order by QR Code and you can only order food. In order to get drinks you have to go to the bar, what a pain in the______. The most expensive Burger in the neighborhood starting off at 18 for just a plain burger, nothing else not even fries. Lettuce, tomato and onions cost an additional $1.00 and fries cost $5.00. It might have been ok if it tasted amazing, but It was over cooked and dry and talk about the fries they where wimpy and tasteless. You can't even tell the Kitchen how you want your burger cooked. When a server finely came over and we asked about, he said it is cooked medium-well and when both told him that was over cooked for us, he didn't even try to rectify it even though we hadn't got our food yet. The service was awful and the server and waiter barely spoke any English. The hostess was rude. When are meal finally came, my friend who ordered fries and paid an additional $5 for it. Was very upset when he saw that I got fries and That I had not ordered. All the hostess said, oh the kitchen must have screwed up. I have gone there over the last 2 yours and loved. I can't believe how far downhill it has gone. The only thing going for it is the amazing view, But it is not worth it anymore especially with the prices they are charging. The Hudson has a superb location in upper manhattan. A girlfriend and I brought our boys here and they were entertained with things to do and a little beach to walk in while we sat in the open air dining area and enjoyed a plentiful lunch. Yuleka was our server and she was attentive to all our needs. Food was fresh and yummy with great drinks to boot. I met some old friends at The Hudson while visiting from Italy. it was a lovely surprise for me to sit on the water and enjoy wonderful atmosphere and very professional service. from the manager down to the busboys, they were all very accommodating . We spent over $100 while on our visit here. The service was awful. We spent about 20minutes waiting for a server to come take our drinks and food order. Before asking the hostess for a server, I made eye contact with three different servers who never came by. The hostess stated that she would get the manager. The manager did nothing to resolve, and I went straight to the bar to grab a pitcher, but that also took time because they didn't have any pitchers that were clean. When we did speak to the manager, Natalie told us that no one wants to work post-Covid, making this statement knowing that most, if not all, her employees are Latinx. This was a wildly inappropriate, unprofessional, and bordering racist statement to make considering her comments regarding the crime rate in the local community. We told Natalie that a table had been dirty and not bussed for the hour and a half we had been there, and she merely replied that she's not bussed a table in 30 years and it's wild that she should now. When we left and told her about the atrocious conditions of the bathroom that had toilet paper on the floor, paper towel rolls in the trash, and dirty diapers on the ground, she stood up, waited for us to leave, and sat back down to go back on her phone. We only knew this because we went back to ask about the owners contact information to file an official complaint. This restaurant is in a beautiful spot. However, there is so much to be done to make it a great place to actually visit and trust that things are clean. To spend money here is an absolute waste. read more

Why are your managers dressed like they are going to the club? Why do they appear drunk when speaking to customers and are visibly drinking at the bar in front of customers? We have seen this more than once. The staff seems so stressed out while the managers clearly do not help them. Instead they yell at them in the customers presence. Why don't you as managers help your staff! Half of the menu items were unavailable as well. This was our third time visiting the Hudson and the last time we were told that they shut down the kitchen mid service due to the kitchen being overwhelmed. We gave it another shot because our servers were nice and took care of us but they can only do so much on their own. The food was okay (just barely edible but we come for drinks and view) and the drinks were great but I'm appaled at the way this place is run. You have a beautiful space here. Do better! read more

We had a birthday party for 20 people here on a summer Tuesday. The restaurant let us reserve a table by the open windows, the planning was easy, the on-site staff was great (thanks Walty!), and the food was good. Plus the location is hard to beat. I put off writing this review because I was so upset by my Hudson experience. In all, I've "dined" at The Hudson twice, both experiences being pathetic. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS ESTABLISHMENT. It's a rip-off and an affront to the entire Inwood-Washington Heights community. The first time, pre-Covid, I at The Hudson, a cook walked out. Our order took 1.5 hours to come out. We were in no way accommodated for our bad experience. The house didn't buy us a round of drinks, no free dessert, no reduction in our bill. The manager was arrogant and expected his explanation (not an apology) to be sufficient. The second time, post-Covid, there were no waiters, no explanation of the ordering process. It was all self-serve and seat yourself. There was a host, but she was pretty useless. I entered our order on a kiosk like at McDonalds. I picked up our order after a crazy long wait, again, only to find that the ribs I was so looking forward to were BOILED. Ribs should never ever be boiled. Our bill came to around $100 for a two entrees, and beverages, and tip. Don't ask me who the hell I was tipping, as we ordered and picked up our own food and drinks. Seriously, the food was on par with an Applebees or worse, and we were charged an absurd amount for the privilege of the view. When I asked the bar tender if they had sweet tea, he listlessly said he could add some sugar to the tea. Not a good sign. When I got up to get a refill, I asked if there was a charge for refill on the tea, to which I was told, listlessly, that he'd make an exception in my case. Oh gee, thanks for the overwhelming hospitality! (Sarcasm) This place should be shut down and they should be run out of business. It's clearly run by people who only know food service on it's lowest level and think they've got a bunch of rich fools for customers who will over-pay for crap. The owners should be banned from ever running any establishment in this area ever again as they clearly have nothing but contempt for their customers. And I'm done! read more

We waited 45 min for a table, fine, but then we sat and ordered right away and it took an hour for ANY food to come out. The service was delayed, the food was horrible, they accidentally gave us someone else's order and they tried to take it away much later after I had already breathed on it TO SERVE IT BACK TO THE CORRECT TABLE and I refused to let them take it. I mean, come on....it's been sitting in front of me for this long and now you want to re-serve it?!?!?! The steak arrived burnt and they still sat it in front of us, the salmon was unseasoned and the sushi is definitely premade because they can't keep up with the demand. Don't they realize customers are right in front of them or are they just THAT much fed up with their job? The picnic benches are LOW, I mean abnormally low for anyone. I'm 5'5 and it was so uncomfortable sitting with my knees so high - it's like they're designed for kids only. I honestly have nothing good to say about this place.... Go somewhere else, it's not worth the money or time...and they'll make you wait a LONG period of time for anything and everything you order. This place brought me out of my retirement from writing Yelp reviews and I cannot recommend it enough. My husband and I welcomed a baby in late 2020 and we stayed away from dining out in the age of Covid. We did order delivery a handful of times last year when it opened and we enjoyed everything we got (sushi, wings, nachos) until it closed for the season. Now that we are fully vaccinated, we took my visiting parents for our first attempt at eating at a restaurant. We got there a little before 11:30 am on a Saturday and got an indoor table with a great view and more than enough space for our baby to hang out in her stroller next to the table. We ordered the shrimp boil (white wine and garlic flavored), a burger, a shrimp po boy, and a brisket sandwich, and each of us had rave reviews. On top of that, the service was great, the scenery was great, and we are already looking forward to our next visit. Edit: after seeing that the previous reviews were written last year, I can confirm that since they have reopened, it is now a 100% standard dining experience (full service, and you get the bill/pay after you are finished eating). read more

We had the absolute best time here enjoying the views of the GWB bridge, sail boats, and sunset on the river. Lively atmosphere, great food, five-star service, and fun drink pitchers. It reminds me of a restaurant that would be in Hawaii with a huge outdoor (dog friendly) space, and open air seating indoors for summer. What a little piece of fishy heaven. Sights of the bridge pulled me to this spot and It did not disappoint. I ordered a lobster roll which was tasty but needed a little more sauce. Come on I love my sauces/juice it's a requirement for a yummy meal. The bread was a little on the chewy side which paired well with the generous chunks of lobster. You definitely get your money's worth as I was content with the size. I took away one star for overcharging customers for a bottled turkey hill lemonade. The description on the menu does not match the product. But all in all nice place. Staff were very friendly even through their face masks.
