7/21/26 I recently visited The Hugh and was amazed by the incredible variety of restaurants inside and how nice it was inside. This is far from your average food hall--I honestly didn't know what to try first! Then I came across Jumieka. As soon as I saw oxtails, rice and peas, and cabbage on the menu, my decision was made. The very first bite took me all the way back to 2004, when I visited Jamaica and experienced some of the best food I've ever had. I hadn't tasted flavors that authentic and unforgettable until I ate at Jumieka. Every bite was packed with rich, perfectly seasoned flavor. It honestly made my mouth happy! For a moment, it felt like my grandmother was back in the kitchen cooking one of her amazing homemade meals. The gentlemen serving the food were incredibly kind and welcoming, and I loved learning that it's a family-owned business. You can truly taste the love and pride they put into every dish. My recommendation: RUN, don't walk, and go get yourself some Jumieka today! If you're at The Hugh and you're craving authentic Jamaican food, this place is an absolute must-visit. read more

Been here a few times and just realized I hadn't written a review! For a food court this is one of the best experiences in the city, not because the restaurant choices here are necessarily better than other places (there are good choices for sure), but because the atmosphere is different than most. This used to be another unused office building atrium until several years ago they reconstructed it to be a semi Scandinavian minimalist design-inspired indoor park space replete with faux trees, glass baubles hanging from a ceiling decorated with narrow wooden panels. Seating in the form of smaller tables for 4-6, communal tables for 8-10, and bar tables areas are spread over a central tiled ground floor. Along the south side of the space, two sets of stairs (and an elevator) going up to street level are sandwiched between wooden risers that can be used for seating as well. Chairs and small coffee tables are available on the second floor overlooking the below too. Getting to the food: - Teranga: West African bowls that are flavorful and delicious, their juice options are great too. Jollof rice, Yassa and Shay chicken, kewelele (sweet plantains), and my favorite Bouye drink. - Miznon: Israeli/Mediterranean food, yummy schnitzel, roasted cauliflower, stuffed pita sandwiches. - Petit Maman: coffee shop with baked pastries and fresh sandwiches. - KazuNori Handroll Bar: sushi handrolls a bit pricier though tasty, fresh seafood. - Pesce Lulu Seafood Kitchen: I haven't eaten at this one personally though their mahi mahi fish tacos, grilled salmon bowl and fisherman's soup are well known here. I found The Hugh while researching food halls in the city and it turns out, there are a lot of them, but this one stood out. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised as the photos I saw beforehand didn't quite capture how open and welcoming the space feels. There's plenty of seating, whether you're with a big group or just grabbing a quick bite solo. The food terminal is located downstairs, so you do have to take a set of stairs down, but once you're in, it's a well-designed and spacious setup with lots of food options to choose from as everything is nicely spread out, not cramped like other halls. After debating for a while (because everything looked good), I ended up choosing Avo and got the Salsa Verse Plate. Definitely a solid choice! Whether you're a local or just in town for the day, The Hugh is worth a visit if you're looking for variety and a chill spot to eat. read more

Plenty of food halls to choose from in Midtown (even with some of them closing), but the Hugh is one of my favorites. The space is gorgeous and nicely decorated with lots of open space. Lots of options - I usually go to Teranga for African food, but they also have Thai, pizza, Korean, sandwiches, and more. Finding seating is usually only an issue at the peak of lunch hour, as they have a lot of tables. Bathrooms are clean, and they actually have doors that almost reach the floor. A super nice space in midtown east to hang out, meet friends, do some work and just chill, especially in extreme temperatures in the winter or summer. There's a bunch of food spots around the perimeter with open food court style seating in the middle. You can also sit on the stairs area for something more casual. It's super modern and clean, Good spot for a bathroom too and water fountain to take a break from city exploring. I didn't get a chance to closely look at the food options - I think I vaguely came here once for pizza. I'm rarely in the area at a meal time, and mainly come here to just have a place to sit and rest, and use the bathroom. read more

I've been to this food hall a few times and it's conveniently located right by the subway! The interior is clean and beautiful, and there's plenty of seating. There are a lot of food options and I haven't tried everything yet. I've been to the Kazunori a few times, tried Avo twice, and I'm writing this review here now to try Pesce Lulu Seafood Kitchen. The Hugh is one of my favorite food halls in Manhattan. So when a friend wanted to meet midtown this was a natural place to pick. The interior is pretty with large potted plants, beautiful light fixtures and a joy to be there even when it's busy. There are many cuisines to choose from now...African? Sushi? Fish Tacos? Mediterranean? Jennifer and I met Shengel after many moons. Shengel chose the African eatery and brought what looked like a tasty meal of grains with poached salmon and sides. She also had a hibiscus drink. Jennifer went to the Thai restaurant for vegetable fried rice. I had a slice of plain from Stretch. We sat at a table and had an enjoyable visit and lunch. read more

Love this food court on the upper east side - it's so modern, bright, and airy! I've only ever tried Miznon (which was bomb) but the other food options look amazing too. I got the slow cooked beef and roots stew, which was hearty and delicious ($18). They have plenty of seating, a great spot for a fun lunch or meetup with friends! read more

Enjoyed a GREAT BOWL OF RAMEN from MOKBAR. A hidden gem inside THE HUGH. See my detailed review about MOKBAR at MOKBAR, here on Yelp . MOKBAR is hidden away in the back, across from the great burger place. If you see white/blue PESCE, you are steps from MOKBAR ...just walk or ride behind PESCE. The Chicken Ramen was wonderful, it has ginger and garlic which I love and I added a soft boiled egg ($2) and spinach ($2). Fantastic. I also love the ginger plum ice tea. I would buy a gallon of it, if I could. See my photos I have ALSO ENJOYED, Yummy good THAI FOOD (pineapple fried rice w/chicken) and Thai ice tea, at "Thank You Come Again"-that's the name; AND a good burger at the place in the back, across from MOKBAR. A perfect place to escape the heat, rain or snow depending on the season. Beautifully decorated with art installations upstairs. The current was beautiful featuring dresses inspired by landmarks in the city. Tons of seating in the main area and most of the restaurants have counter space for either sitting or standing. I was a bit surprised it wasn't busier when I went at 1100 on a Friday when most places said they opened, but perhaps I beat the lunch rush or the record setting rains played a factor. My one frustration was that most of the restaurants sites said they opened at 11, but by 1130, very few were actually open. My original place I wanted to go to said they'd be opening in about a half hour when I checked in at 1130. Fortunately, there were other great choices. Which leads me to my favorite part of the Hall, the variety of food choices. Absolutely something for everyone. If you have a picky eater and an adventurous eater, you shouldn't have any problem finding something to eat here. It's also a great place to grab a few small items from different restaurants to share or eat yourself! read more

I didn't know I came here and that this was specifically a PLACE. I thought it was just a regular ol' office building with a beautiful food court. I visited Kazunori, but that's a separate review. In the food hall, there's so much seating and high ceilings, trees, and natural elements, that the atmosphere feels peaceful, open, and inviting despite being generally loud since this a communal area for people to eat. I'm really interested to try the other vendors here now. Hopefully I'll get to make another visit soon! On the sides of the flight of stairs, there're these giant wooden "steps" that are lit where you can sit and lounge and take in the view or work on your laptop. On the sides of that seating area, there are the washrooms. My biggest dislike was the washroom. Super ugly in there and smelled and wasn't as clean as I'd expected. I read about the Hugh Food court on IG so I went to check it out or as Gen Z folks say "peep this". Lots of different cuisine- african, german, thai, Japanese, pizza, Jamaican, pub I went to 2 places. Kazunori/handroll bar and Lulu. Got the Salmon roll to go box- $17 for 8 pieces of Salmon roll. Basically its a very fresh Salmon roll w sesame seeds. You are basically paying for the fancy box and paper bag it comes in. The staff was attentive to the specifics of my order. Would I go back? Its more of a been there, done that vibe. Lulu generally serves seafood inspired fair, but i heard they had killer truffle fries, so I ordered that. So basically I had fish and chips. The truffle fries were great, perfectly cut, the right amount of truffle oil. It also comes with your choice of dipping sauce. A small order is plenty , didnt finish them. I was looking for some food halls in NYC near by where I was at, and this happened to show up on my Yelp search. They have a variety of foods, so it was perfect for my bf and I to choose from since we had different cravings. The Ambiance, 10/10 it is so cute, clean, and convenient in there. Bathrooms were solid, security is all over for some reason, and the food that I had was actually quite good. I knocked a star down cause prices are pretty wild, but to be fair it's also Midtown East so what can you really expect. Overall, I love it, I will be coming back. Nice place if you need a spot to get away from your office ~ variety of cuisines but the food options are underwhelming!

When hen you get there just enjoy the view the food and drinks are always an option when you come from the outside on the inside is always more relaxing to be somewhere you can enjoy the view without the rush. The violist was a great touch and the line up of food was a great addition because the service is always welcoming. So in all you can take a moment to breath with the beautiful trees as if you are outside and watch a game on tv on the inside. Like a posh food court at an international airport terminal, Terminal C Newark maybe you, definitely not you LaGuardia.. ten to twelve different restaurants offer food and alcohol, coffee et all in bar service style. A large communal mixed seated area with tables and more casual seating caters for patrons only. Security patrols make sure you're consuming something otherwise you're moved on. I've been to this place several times and this is a rather unique food court. I would almost describe it similar to the food you get at Urbanspace but a bit fancier. The prices are definitely higher than most food courts but they make up for it with a variety of fantastic places including some spots where there has never been a food court location. Probably the biggest addition there is a new location of KazuNori a handroll specialist which usually has a line out the door at the other spot in NoMad. Teranga, a Senegalese spot, is probably their other biggest opener as their other location is a popular spot in Harlem. They serve African bowls and I tried the Suya bowl which consists of said Suya (either chicken or lamb for an extra buck topped with a peanut powder,) Jollof/tomato Rice, Kelewele/sweet plantain, Ndambe/veggie stew, Mafe/peanut sauce, and Moyo/scotch bonnet/onion mix. This was spicy and delicious and well worth it for the price. Mokbar is a Korean spot which I tried once. They also have locations in Chelsea Market and I believe in Brooklyn. I had a crabby shrimp bowl which was fine. It was basically their version of a Hwe dup bap with a said crab/shrimp as well as a variety of vegetables and a creamy slightly spicy sauce. It is slightly overpriced like most other things there but still pretty tasty. They also had a ginger plum tea which is delicious. Miznon is an Israeli spot and they offer a slightly shorter menu then their North Miznon location. I had their Steak Pita 2.0 which had some tasty meat but I found it to be a bit small for the price. It was a good mix of flavors but I preferred their old version I once tried at North Miznon especially as that version came with a large pepper. Mah-Ze-Dahr is a rather famous bakery with Pakistani, Arabic, and French influences. I had a ma'moul which compared to the usual was a mix of walnuts, pistachios, and dates. It was easily the fanciest version of this rather delicious Arabic shortbread I have ever had and it was probably worth it for the $4 or $4.50 I paid as it was more unique in comparison. From Alidoro; an Italian sandwich spot on the east side in the 30s that is very popular; I have had the Pinocchio with artichokes instead of roasted peppers. The price was reasonable for the size and it is popular for good reason though perhaps it was a bit too salty with the mix of meat and the black olive spread. I would probably get one of the prosciutto sandwiches next time. Kotti Berliner Doner Kebab serves döner of course a Turkish treat also popular in Germany. I had a platter which was large and good but I can't help but think that I would prefer to play less outside at one of the many good Halal carts nearby but the quality was solid and the topping were different. I have yet to try the BK Jani what is a Pakistani burger spot and that'll be next time but it won't be for a while. Nice massive food stall. Beautifully made. The prices are a bit too high but it comes with the neighborhood. Mid/low 4 bumped up for the couple exceptionally good spots. read more

There are so many restaurants to choose from at The Hugh. I recently tried several spots for lunch. At Kotti Berliner Döner Kebab I ordered the Döner Salad with chicken. The flavors were amazing and the chicken was delicious! This meal is a great option for lunch if you are in the neighborhood. I will be a repeat customer. KazuNori is out of this world! It's hard to put in words how good this place is. I ordered Split Cut Rolls from their to go menu: Salmon, Toro, and Yellowtail. The fish is so fresh and delicious. There's out door seating with a waterfall view and even a direct entrance to the subway... lovely lighting, and seating as if you're watching a play out doors,there's even an elevator to take you down stairs upon entering(depending which entrance you enter from) As for me I would go back just for the AMBIENCE!! read more

It is a great lunch spot for lunch in midtown, you name it, they have it, from thai, sushi hand roll, Jamaican, pizza, bowls, Mediterranean, and etc. The seatings are spacious, modern, sunny and comfortable. 5/5 Amazing indoor food hall in midtown! The interior is absolutely beautiful, it's so cozy inside. Decided to order from BK Jani's which is a halal Pakistani inspired burger joint. I got the fried chicken sandwich - it was amazing! The flavours were aromatic and delicious - I would highly recommend this spot or one of their other locations in New York. The Hugh is a food court inside a building. I used to come here a lot to relax, eat lunch, and they had a piano player. Back then it had a different name and you could access the Barnes and Noble that was here. Now this is a high end place in my eyes. The first security at the door was nasty to me because I was taking photos of the restaurant. He said I can't take photos because it's a private building. I stopped and asked him to clarify what he said. "I'm not allowed to enter to eat at the food establishments and use the restroom?" He played dumb and went back to me taking photos. I said I stopped now, am I or not allowed to do business in here. At that point he sent me to the next security station to have my vaccination and ID verified so I could enter. Ugh, there's always one! The second young man was very nice. He understands that if I post the food choices people will come here to eat. He also pointed me in the direction of the restroom. We had a nice chat. The space is nothing like it was before. I did have a really nice learning experience talking to the employee at the Jamaican Food Station. She was excited to have their menu posted and welcomed me back next time I'm hungry. I'm giving you a quick tour with my photos. It's all new and full of seating where you can eat. The bathroom facilities are very nice too. I'm sure I'll return. I know what to expect now. I'll take out my camera after I have my food or drink! I do love my photo of Bob Marley though! The hue is the latest space to be reworked in the right way and the right way in Midtown East. I remember this space being a Dunkin donuts and something else something a long time ago, but I'm super glad to see a lot of my favorite places from around the boroughs in one food hall. I felt pretty comfortable coming to have lunch here because they check your ID & vaccination status at the door. When I entered the space, it's clean, spacious, natural light, filled atrium is surrounded by the humble, yet spectacular scents and flavors of the city most folks in this area have yet to experience. I grabbed lunch and some goodies for later from a few of the vendors. I know i'll back soon to try all these amazing places and soak up the ambiance, they have trees! read more

Popped here to grab a drink with folks after work. They have a lot of little stations that sell drinks and food; some better than others. The KazuNori is probably the best (sushi rolls). The rest - mixed reviews from people that worked in the area, but it's a gorgeous spot with a lot of airy high ceilings, clean tables, and expensive food. The natural light comes in well during the day. They had a few people walking around to pick up plates, glasses from the tables, and wipe things down. Still, very neat area that also opens to the subway downstairs and a great use of space. read more

Despite the nice array of seating options, the security guards must be paid based on how much of an asshole they can be. I watch the security guards harass innocent teenagers for sitting casually but then I walk into the women's bathroom to be screamed at by a naked homeless woman cleaning herself with toilet water. I guess the guards have their priorities straight. read more

What's not to love about The Hugh?! With the amount of food and drink options, you can come here more than once a week and not have tried everything. Favorite vendors are Alidoro and Miznon. When the weather heats up, there is an outdoor bar that serves amazing cocktails and beer. Always a good time! read more

Attended a Holiday family event at The Hugh- food court. The lower level food court is spacious with lots of table seating and wide coliseum steps to enjoy a meal, with lots of bright sunlight coming from the beautifully decorated LED lights. Food vendors weren't open for business yet since the event started in the morning. To celebrate the holidays the main area has three lit Christmas trees that just brightens up the whole mood of dining here. The only complaint is the public Women's bathroom, some stalls have non-functioning toilets. Overall, a good food hall and conveniently located next to the train station. read more

Great Food Court, open area bars, public space. Nice, peaceful, entertaining and the public restrooms are very convenient if coming out of the Subway. I ate and had a drink here.
