I'm angry as hell the virus prohibits me from going in for sit down, WiFi, fellowship and the like. What was that? .... they are a drive through only? Never mind. Sorry friends but it's pretty uneventful. It's like a DB for serious coffee drinkers or the Starbucks drive-though. Some great selections and flavours. Maybe 9-10 house specialty drinks, 9-10 classics and 4-5 espressos. The beauty part is they are bi-lingual. You can speak in another coffee house language, they translate it to Human Bean for you. That's exactly what my hopelessly-stuck-in-the-twentieth-century keister needs. They did a swell job of quickly getting me through and were oh so polite. They are worth checking out, if you haven't already. Who knows...it could be your new go to? 4/20

Went here with my three kids after visiting Sierra Sewing Center just across the way and had a blast. We ordered our dirt cheap kid sized fruit smoothies(made with fruit puree) that came in fun kids cups. Kids had green apple and I had blueberry pomegranate. They were both delicious and refreshing. I used to buy my smoothies at Starbucks but they discontinued them. I'm glad they did because these smoothies are much more fun and much more cheap. The walk up window made ordering fun and the employees are always nice. This visit, the two workers- Rachel and Kenzie- were so nice and played along with my two little rascals and their shenanigans. They really brightened up our day. On a separate visit I've tried their mochas and specialty drinks and they are worth checking out. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. You'll save money, get your fix and will leave with a smile. Don't forget to ask for a stamp card and fyi, each drink comes with a chocolate covered coffee bean. How awesome is that. They serve breakfast sandwiches and other treats as well and adjacent to their tables you will find a grassy shaded area next to their drive through that can be fun to hang around.

Super glad I decided to give this place another try. Everyone deserves a second chance! My husband, son & I came here on my husband's birthday to get drinks & celebrate! This second time around was a night & day difference. Lauren was the best! She made my husband & I the most tasty frappes we've EVER had. No joke! Lauren was so friendly & genuinely kind. Lauren was also very patient, she let me finish my entire order before making my drinks. We asked for 6 pumps of espresso in each of our frappes, to get super caffeinated! The little espresso beans were like the cherries on top! Thank you Human Bean team for reaching out to me to apologize & for making things right. My favorite part of getting a coffee here, is receiving the chocolate covered espresso bean placed on the lid of your coffee. What a nice start to your caffeinated liquid treat! The coffee is pretty good too. I tried the eggnog Chai latte (seasonal) and the dirty chai latte and enjoyed both, especially the eggnog chai. Unfortunately, it's only a seasonal drink. The concept of this coffee shop is grab and go. There is a walk up window if you prefer, but most people go through the drive thru. The free standing building is quite small, like the size of a small trailer. Inside is strictly for employee use, so if you aren't driving thru you are sitting in your car in the lot or outside near the walk up window. On a warm day, that may not be a bad idea, but right now it's too cold. The young folk at the counter are pretty pleasant, one nice young gentleman even telling me about his recent engagement while I waited for my coffee. Which turns out pretty quick. The menu has a variety of other drinks as well, such as slushies and energy drinks, so even if you don't drink coffee, you could find a nice caffeinated beverage to try.

The coffee is really great and very inexpensive! The girls who work there all very genuine and sweet, which makes you want to go back because they make you feel welcome and like they have a personal relationship with you. I just found out this is a mostly west-coast franchise chain of drive-thru's. Not as a bad as corporate Starbucks. I don't mind relatively small independent chains. They are not like corporations that are obsessed with cutting costs to squeeze more profits. Their drinks are okay. There's only one friendly barista there (blonde). The rest are like bored Galena kids or something. Their hours are nice, 5 AM to 9 PM, seven days a week. I can't imagine someone drinking coffee at 8 PM on Saturday or Sunday but I suppose people work all hours. read more

Human Bean is top-notch. The coffee is fantastic. I orignally started going to The Human Bean because they offer almond milk, where Starbucks does not; I stayed for the service. All the girls are great, but Jamie is by far the BEST! Thank you for coming to Reno! Hope to see more locations pop-up throughout our community. read more

I must say, I love coffee. I have had some amazing coffee in Seattle, but lets face it this is Reno. I use to go to Starbucks on a consistent basis. It's fast and familiar. But I decided to try something different one day and now I am hooked and getting others hooked as well. Let's start off by saying, I love their customer service. They must really love their jobs because every time I go there the baristas are great! They have good prices and I love that they have either double punch card day, a discount off your drink if you have one of their stickers on your car, and money off your drink if you bring your own cup. They open at 5am and close at 9pm. With hours like that I don't have to be upset about not getting my morning fix. They have a variety of drinks. I was a little upset because I love frappuccino's on hot days and I thought I was still going to have to go to Starbucks. On the contrary! They can blend ANY drink! Several other things about the Human Bean really impressed me. On my first visit the owner was there and was extremely friendly and didn't want me to drive away until he saw me take my first sip to make sure I liked it. Another time I went with my 1 1/2 year old son and they gave him a whip on a stick ( Which is whip cream on a straw). They also give you a white chocolate covered espresso bean with every drink. Over all I love it there, their espresso drinks are flavorful and never taste burnt. If you haven't been there, I suggest you try it. read more

Great coffee. But got accused of stamping my own stamp card to get free coffee. I usually end up going on the double punch days very frequently, but they refused to give me the "free" 11th coffee even after looking at my punch card. Then they decided to argue with me and basically tell me I was a liar. Will not be going back. read more

I have visited The Human Bean a total of 3 times. The first time, I wasn't impressed. The second time was great. The third time which I will review was good. The barista was super nice and even put my son's juice in a cup rather than leaving it in the bottle, which was nice. Coffee was good. Everything was dandy. She asked if we wanted a bean on top of our cups. We said sure. Little did I know that it was an extra charge of 50 cents for two beans. In that case I would have passed on that. Anyhow, great coffee! read more

I have been a fan of the S. Virgina Human Bean since the day it opened. Its very conveniently located, as my office is directly across the street. While they have changed the staff a few times, every staff member has always been very friendly, professional and helpful. Going to the Bean in the mornings is a great start to my mornings, as the girls (Brooke, Kinzie and Annie) are always very CHATTY and nice and make a great Latte. I would recommend the S. Fantastic coffee with a delicious chocolate covered coffee bean! I was a big chain person in Reno before finding this place. Now I get double the coffee, that tastes a million times better, for the same price! The people here are always ridiculously nice and not that weird fake chipper nice that someone without coffee in their hand can't handle. I get my coffee super fast and it's always right. The different holiday drinks are great to change up your routine too. read more

I want to say the coffee is still great. It used to be AMAZING but over the last few months, I have noticed that the quality of both the coffee and the service have gone way, way down. This isn't the same Bean I fell in love with 3+ years ago. I will say with certainty that yesterday's visit was my last. The girls that work here can be rude and stand-offish. Some don't even offer a hello and would rather continue their gossip than say bye. Honestly, I get better service at Starbucks, which I have been visiting more and more since HB has let me down. There is one girl who is great and knows how to make a mean cup of coffee, but most of the others can't even look you in the eye, let alone make a simple mocha. It's very sad :/. If you are sick of Starbucks but are stuck in Reno, avoid this place and head straight for either Kona Gold on Mccarran and Mira Loma or The Purple Bean. Those places will make your local coffee/business loving heart flutter. read more

We walked up to the window and were greeted nicely by 2 staff members.. they explained their seasonal drink and answered any questions we had..they were both so nice. I got a warm chai with regular milk. Temp was good but it did lack flavor. I could barely taste anything like the Chai or cinnamon. My fiancee got their seasonal drink. It was a spin on Dubai chocolate but made with white chocolate. My fiancee LOVED it! I tried it too and it was pretty good. Im just happy she liked it. Cute place with good vibes and friendly staff. We will be coming back and I will be trying the chai again.

They make daily fresh bread. We got an Iced Vietnamese coffee which was super strong. I drink Vietnamese coffee often and very familiar but this, this was stronger than a typical Viet coffee. So strong that a headache kicked in immediately and only drank 1/4 of the cup. Also got a matcha cloud which consist of coconut water and a creamy matcha foam. First sip, sweet and creamy. Barely tasted the matcha. For pastries we got the chocolate croissant, pain suisse and a Kouign Amann. The Kouign amann was different, it was in a shape of a bar and had multiple flaky layers. Tasted like a palmier cookie. Everything was delicious. The lines can be long and we were told if you just want drinks, walk next door to Perenn Grocery and they can make the drinks quickly to avoid the lines. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

But overall I really liked the chewy texture of the mochi and would be happy with just a plain glaze. We will have to return to try one of their Taki rice dogs and see what other mochi donut flavors they have.

My drink was slightly sweeter than the last time. I didn't mind it too much because it was still very good. The employees seemed tired or irritated. They were trying to put on smiles, but they definitely looked a bit down. More so than the last time I was there. The owners have been working pretty much every time I visited and they always seem very welcoming and friendly. I will give it another try, but based on my last visit I am not sure I would seat outside again.

No I'm not sure if this was our fault or the gentleman upfront hitting the wrong button. But after speaking with the owner, Chris, he took care of it for us. Thank you for the amazing service.

I have been coming to the Human Bean for a couple of years now and have not stopped coming. I love all of their drinks, especially their tasty monthly specials. And can't forget that delicious chocolate bean that comes with it! The thing that sold me was the upbeat atmosphere from the baristas. They greet each customer and seem to have fun with one another. The only down side to them is their new speaker box, which takes away from the full Human Bean experience that made me come back each day. I would recommend the Human Bean for any coffee lover or addict like me, who wants to beat the expensive prices at Starbucks! read more

As a frequent customer (weekly), I can honestly say this is one of the best coffee shops I have come across! Not only are the espresso drinks wonderful (hot, iced and granita style), their smoothies, chai teas and Italian sodas great too! They also offer a variety of pastries and breakfast snack goodies, like bagels and oatmeal - which they will prepare for you. I have yet to see any of the staff in a sour mood, and that makes everything even better! During busy and slow times, they are always efficient even taking a moment to chat. read more

Went to the Human Bean for the first time on Monday. What a fun, original menu of coffee beverages. I had one of their many mochas and my friend had a green tea latte. When they served the beverages, the girls included a chocolate covered coffee bean (good way to encourage sales - these things taste great!) and the cup lids allow an open/close position to keep the beverage hot. Okay, I have to admit the Human Bean is one of my favorite little wacky Reno places. First of all, the staff is a bunch of super cute friendly girls. Am I a bad person for admitting that? I think not. Second, the drive thru is awesome. Third, the drinks are great. Fourth, they have a rewards program that rocks.
