Overall it was pretty okay. I got the shrimp basket and it didn't come in a basket so that's was a huge let down.

First off...most of the food is really good. The steak hogie and the Dagwood sandwich are excellent. Most of the waitresses are really nice and do a good job. Cons: drinks are a tad expensive. The beers are a bit on the warm side. They also started to add a 3% charge to your bill if you pay by credit card. This is one of the stupidest things I have ever seen. After the 60% profit that they make on the food and drinks, they still want to add 3% because I want to pay by credit card? That's the price of business! That's like me subtracting 9% because of interest if I carry that charge over to the next month on my credit card. Or me subtracting the price of the gas that it took me to drive there. I wont return until the surcharge is gone. So i hope the 78 cents that they made me pay extra was worth me not coming back. read more

Went in at just before 2pm to meet a friend after work. I stood at the bar in a $500 outfit for over 15 full minutes before someone finally, came to serve me. Only after two women sat down did a waitress finally deem to notice my existence. As if the minimum for service were 3? Just before my knees gave out I was able to purchase a 2 dollar beer. Coors Light Long Neck. I tipped the waitress a dollar who, after seeing me for the fourth time just barely pulled out of ignoring me again when she noticed I had opposable thumbs and a wallet filled with 100's, 1's, and the hopefully unnoticed singular 5 dollar bill. Which I gave her. And I waited for the change. I did tip a dollar because I could tell from the condition of the restaurant that these women don't make much. Falling plaster and exposed brick are just a few feet away from the front entrance. And on the inside... even after 20 minutes my eyes could barely pierce the darkness. I felt as if there should be a hostess passing out torches. The jukebox was off, to save money I imagine and 3 of the 4 Ticket games I put tokens in "won" according to their rules but dispensed nothing. And so did the same for the friend I met there. These are marketed to children by the way. On the fourth game I played the slot had only the vague, "WIN TICKETS" description. Which dispensed only ONE ticket by the way. The Hunt "Club", had a new Terminator gun game which I played before at a Dave & Buster's. It was great fun. But the Hunt Club charges a full dollar and has the difficulty turned up to "You would only play twice if you were stupid drunk and had something to prove" level of difficulty. Everything about this place screams "I pay my staff nothing and wasted a profitable business on a fake lifestyle to impress people and make myself happy in the short term" SO much potential for this place. But desperation to fund a lifestyle turned into cutting quality, and then wages, and then quality... Don't waste your money on the over priced piles of microwaved reheated grease that used to be good food either. I remember in 2000 the Deer Ears couldn't be beat. Along with other great staples. Now. It actually tastes exactly the same or better buying them in the freezer section and cooking them in the oven. 1 out of 5 Stars. There is no soul in this place anymore. read more

I can remember when the Hunt Club opened in its original location. People were lined up out the door to eat there...because the food was sooo good. Goodbye old days and welcome to the new version of the Hunt Club. My salsa came in Tostido's packaging and the sour cream in plastic tubes. At least act like you care about the quality of what you serve. How sad to take a great restaurant like the Hunt Club and ruin it. I would never come back.... In addition to being cold when served...kitchen, not server, the cheese was a canned processed version of what they use to have. I did not even eat 1/4 of my meal it was that bad. Asked for manager who was very nice, told that is just how they do it now. I bet there will be no more lines wanting to get into this place...yuk.... We had a party room reserved for about 15-20 people. We did not get the room we were showed instead we got a smaller room that had a bar in it. After we all ordered food they opened the bar to the public so all these people started coming in we couldn't hear ourselves think let alone each other. People from the bar actually started sitting on our table and our food still hadn't came in over an hour. My husband complained to the waitress and she offered no help just said sorry no discount was given. After 2 hours we all got our food to go and we were very disappointed. Called later to complain to owner And he said we weren't suppose to be in that room. Promised if we came back it would be better. We said no thank you and never went back. read more

While service has gotten a little bit better than in past years, it's still subpar. Once you get your drinks, it takes quite some time to get your food and from what I've read, it's usually a hit or miss. Fortunately, every time we've gone there, the food has been good. WARNING--The Hunt Club adds about a 3% fee (3% of food AND taxes) onto your bill if you pay by credit card. I didn't see any warning about this until I received my bill. Since I'm sure credit card fees were rolled into the prices prior to adding this fee, and there has been no corresponding price decrease to reflect it no longer does this, this fee is a 3% price increase for credit card payers. Despite seeing a number of reviewers pan the quality of the food, I can say my experience left me no reason to complain in this regard. Perhaps I just got lucky, but what I ordered was really good. I ordered the Hunt Club stir fry with the Cajun Chicken, and the seasoning was just right for me. It had quite a bit of kick, but stopped just short of being too much. Additional flavor besides just heat made it a dish really worth getting. The cheesy roll that came with it was really good as well. I received a relatively good portion--although that should be expected given the $9.25 I paid for it (including the 3% CC fee--$8.99 for cash payers). Since I'm on a pretty serious diet I saved half for lunch the next day. It was really good cold. Although the service was fine, the restaurant wasn't busy when I was there. Given the length of time some of the service took under this non busy time (not long enough to be objectionable), I can see that it might be a bit slow at peak dinner times. My relatively low rating reflects my disappointment at the credit card fee--particularly I consider the fact no warning exists until it appears on the bill to be really wrong. I considered three stars because the food was good, but three stars apparently means "A-OK" and I'm not okay with the fee. If the fee didn't exist I would probably have given four stars on the food. read more

Overall was a terrible experience. Waitress was rude and kept forgetting our orders, and even took away a plate with half eaten food on it without asking. Found a hair in our cup of dressing for the salad. A few people in our party odered steaks and they were all cold and not cooked to order. Rest of the food ordered was salty and you could tell that it had been microwaved and sitting out for a while. Very disappointed since this used to be a very nice resturaunt. Went to the Hunt Club for late lunch with wife and a friend. Entered the Club and no one at the front, waited a couple of minutes, sat down in the booth we usually sit in when we eat there. Waited approximately 10-12 minutes and our friend showed up and sat down. At this time no one had approached us about service, waited another 8 minutes, still no one approached us. Saw young man, waiter/? and asked him if he would get someone to wait on us. Approximately 4 minutes went by, still no one approached us. A tall long haired blond waitress walked past us back and forth three different times and didn't even look in our direction, although we were only two booths from the aisle. So after asking the young man to get someone we got up and left. As an aside the food there the last two or three times has not been that good, ie chicken drummies overcooked, ham and cheese sandwich undercooked, just a general lack of service. Will not eat there again, too many other good restaurants in town. read more

Came today for lunch with my fiancé. To sum up everything in one word I'd say : mess. We were seated after waiting for a couple minutes which was fine, we are patient and understanding people who know and have both experienced the restaurant/food industry. We were rushed into ordering our drinks, and were confused by 3 different people asking us what we wanted to drink. One waitress apologized because she was the one one on the floor which we were understanding of, never saw her again though. We also watched the people across the room from us walk out before they got their food because the service was so awful and we all kept getting ignored. One lady was very nice her name was Tara and she saved the whole experience for us. We were about to walk out and leave from terrible service. Not only did the main waitress with the southern accent forget about us and ignore us and walk right by us each time she came out, but when she delivered things to us would just throw it on the table and run away before we could ask for a glass of water, and our silverware which wasn't given to us until half way through us sitting there. Tara came in and saved the day and got us in and out as quickly as she could. I hope she's the one who ended up getting the tip we left. read more

She was more worried about looking at the Keno screen than she was worried about taking our order or even checking back on us!! I was visiting some friends of mine who live and work in the Jackson area, my friends took me to the Hunt Club for the first time. The drinks were great, the way drinks should be made. The servers were wonderful and for the sports fans, they have giant LCD T.V.'s everywhere throughout the restaurant. If you like pool they also have a pool table and a huge arcade kind of like Dave and Busters, all in all a very spacious establishment. The night we had gone there, they had a DJ playing, I think they called him (DJ Jason). When I got a card from him it said DJ Mindseye, when I asked him about the name difference he said he was friends with the staff and that was their name for him there. He really made the night Thrilling for my friends and I. He took all my requests and played all the songs I wanted to hear almost if not right when I requested them as well as some wonderful new remixes I had never heard before. He also had a unique light show as well. I asked him when he would be here next and he said it was just on occasion. I wished they had him there all the time. I had NEVER had so much fun at a Club before! Even though it was more of a bar setting, the DJ put the CLUB in Hunt Club! I had got a card from the DJ (DJ Mindseye) because I am getting married next July, I am having him DJ my wedding!!! Thank you Hunt Club, for such a wonderful night, and giving me a excellent DJ for my wedding!!!! I've been dining at the Hunt Club for years and years, beginning at the old location. Our most recent experience on a Saturday night was very disappointing. I wish I could have given more stars, but I just can't. First, the good. The appetizers we ordered were really good to fair. Wiley Deers Ears are especially yummy and the special bacon on them was delicious, the dinner rolls were excellent and the fried pickles were okay (a bit too much batter). I like that the appetizers are always served with a wide variety of dipping sauces. Of our main courses, the always reliable steak bites were delicious. We played a little Keno and the busy bar staff was friendly and quick to play our tickets. Now the bad. When we arrived, we stood at the host stand for 5 minutes before we were acknowledged. There were other guests who came after us, so there was a crowd at the door. Finally a waitress came to seat us without so much as a smile or a greeting other than "How many?" The wait was just the beginning of our waiting. We waited too long for a server, then we waited too long for the drinks we ordered, the food came fast after we ordered, but in the end we waited 12 minutes for our checks after we had been given to go boxes. Granted, our server had far too many tables to give decent service to anyone. I counted 11 tables at one point. No apologies from anyone for the waiting for anything either. The beer was not cold. and we like cold beer. The ceasar salads we ordered were really awful. They consisted of room temperature, limp, bagged romaine lettuce with parmesan cheese, mushrooms and purple onions on it, and the dressing was in a plastic container on the side. A truly unappetizing mess. Our server didn't return to check on our satisfaction with the meal until we were done eating, so we weren't able to reorder a meal to replace the salads. The server did offer, but it was too late. We asked for the salads to be taken off our bill and they were, though no apology was given. I can't say I'll be returning to the Hunt Club right away, though I know eventually I will. I'll definitely avoid a busy night! read more

Definitely will be back. I had the lunch special with my boyfriend. Chicken-spinach salad and black-bean chili. He had a turkey pretzel sandwich (it was a little heavy). But all was good and well-priced. Their appetizer bread was also very tasty. The service was good-but it should be as there was not a crowd in there at the time. We will be back...I think their lunch specials are the way to go. The atmosphere is also pretty enjoyable with animal heads on the wall, a large fireplace and nice light fixtures. I've been to the Hunt Club many, many times over the years and I have to say it really has declined as far as customer service and food quality. While I was waiting for my date to arrive, I sat at the bar and waited at least 5 minutes before someone acknowledged me and took my drink order. When my date arrived, we went over to the 'hostess' (and I use that term loosely), and she said, "Two?" We said yes, she grabbed 2 menu's and started walking away.....so I assumed we needed to follow her. She plopped the menu's on a table and walked away and said nothing. Wow, really? Our waitress was pleasant enough however our food took F O R E V E R to come out and when it did, it was lukewarm at best. My burger (called the Mustang Melt) was so well done that I could hardly chew it. The mushrooms on it were canned mushrooms, and the swiss cheese was barely melted. The waitress asked us how our meal was and I told her. She graciously asked me if I wanted something else and said no... mostly because I didn't want to wait forever to get a new entree. But there was never any offer of adjusting our bill either. I ended up eating about 1/4 of what was served to me. The menu has barely changed over the past 25 years, it could really use some updating with perhaps some healthier choices. I'ts going to be quite a while before I go back.... if ever. We had a horrible experience there last night! We had a party of 3 and intended to meet there at 8:30pm. 2 arrived at 8:20, ordered drinks and an appetizer. I arrived about 10 mins after the first 2 and sat there for HALF AN HOUR before the server even greeted me. At 9 she took my drink order! The appetizer hadnt came yet either. I waited another 10 minutes for my drink and when it came had to remind the server my friends had even ordered the appetizer. We got the appetizer 15 minutes later but remember we'd already been here 45 MINUTES! Then we waited another 15 minutes to order and another 15 minutes to get our food. So a total of an hour and 15 minutes...for real?!? I still cant even believe it, it was that ridiculous. What made the whole thing worse was the fact that we were never apologized to! The server never said I'm sorry you've been waiting, NOTHING, she acted like she was really busy but not that anything else was going on! There is NO WAY IN HELL she didnt know we'd been waiting and that it was ridiculously inappropriate. She was busy but that is NO excuse, she could have asked for another server to take over the table, told the manager, something!!. The manager also delivered our appetizer and he NEVER said a SINGLE WORD to us. Not hi, how are you? Not I'm sorry you've waited 45 minutes to get ANY food, nothing. It was the worst treatment I've ever experienced and will never go back. The only positive from the entire experience was the appetizer, buffalo chicken wraps or rolls or something like that. Wow -what a disappointment ..... been going there for years -steak bite platter was my favorite.... ordered lunch pickup on Wednesday it was wonderful just like always .... 11 days later -went after work with 7 friends - for dinner -ordered my favorite - steak bites OMG they changed the garlic toast to little pieces of white bread (that was very hard & over toasted ) they changed the onion rings from the famous big fat deep fried to little small frozen Kroger store onion rings and the steak was fatty pieces of -not sure what -then to top it off ... I asked for their well known dill ranch and the waitress said -"Oh we will have to charge you extra if you want that !!" Are you kidding me .... My bill was over $60 bucks - and you just charged me an additional $2.00 for your ranch .... This place must be going under - the way they are scrimping on just that platter I can only imagine what they are doing with the other food - That's it for me - will NEVER go back again ........................ read more

I have been to the Hunt Club three times and disappointed each time. The food is not fresh at all. The first meal was the chicken stir fry. Vegetables were still frozen inside and the chicken tasted like it was three days old leftovers seasoned with soy sauce. I didn't complain thinking I'll order something different the next time. The next time I order the beef vegetable soup. They used large pieces of potato to volumize the soup. I ate around the potatoes and they filled half my bowl when I was done. Potatoes are the cheapest ingredient. I would have liked to have seen more meat and other vegetables. I didn't complain on this meal either. The third meal was the chicken salad plate. The chicken salad was just okay. Nothing ever seems fresh. Pineapple and mandarin oranges were just okay. The tomatoes looked like they were old and had been sitting out. The hard boiled egg looked very wet but decided to taste it. It was so disgusting I had to spit it into my napkin. They asked me what was wrong and I told them the egg is spoiled. They told me it was not spoiled it's just that they ordered eggs in water, that others have complained about them too. So why keep servicing them. They asked if I wanted something else, I said no, just adjust my bill. My bill came and they didn't adjust it so I finally decided to say something [on try #3]. They had the manager come and she told me everything that I ate on my plate, so the waitress had to have taken inventory of my plate when I was done. So for the bad egg experience and not so good tomatoes they deducted $1. Wow. My family and I will not be back. read more
